i think saban should bench him make him the second string quarterback that's what i think he should do let me be very very clear jalen hurts is not impressive just go call it what it is somebody got to do it somebody's got to do it never started technically a true freshman quarterback in the opener but he gets in very early and don't think this guy has just a a change of pace wildcat type quarterback to watch him sling the ball around is impressive and here he is back in his home state that's right and he's got a great field position to work with everybody said that you should transfer everybody said that you shouldn't come back in this scenario but what told you that you should to bring you to this moment i put it in god's hand and put it in god's hands he handled it for me um here we are [Music] everything new opponents you know how you prepare for the teams you're playing how they officiate in the big 12. everything new and yet his numbers have just been on par and on pace and in some cases just flat out better each of his two predecessors at oklahoma won the heisman trophy and we're the number one overall pick in the nfl draft what words do you have about jalen hurts and what he just did for your team right now well we've always had a lot of faith in jaylen and you know i told him when we put him in when two tua got hurt it's your time and he certainly took advantage of it and did a fantastic job i'm so proud of this guy for what he's done this year i can't even tell you great comeback for our team showed tremendous amount of resiliency you know in the game uh we didn't play great but we won the sec today and we're so happy about that after he goes in what else sparked that turnaround for jalen and this offense well you know we got a couple stops on defense we were struggling all right and you know the offense just kept going out there and playing and we made some plays and we knew we could make them we just had to make them and we did when you saw your team play the way they did in the first half did you know exactly what needed to be done to pull this one off tonight yeah we had to make some adjustments on a couple formations they had us a little messed up on and we got the players straight on that played a little better in the second half all right i'm going to talk to this young man right here coach thank you jalen when you see chill go down a couple times tonight but for the final time what did that moment feel like for you when you went back under center um i honestly didn't know what to think you know all year i kind of been waiting on my opportunity and regardless of how i went you know my opportunity came today and worked hard really week this week with my teammates and we found a way to get it done today you put that drive together on the winning touchdown what had the game unfolded and looked like to you on the sideline that made you know that you could pull this one off well i know at alabama there's always an opportunity to win we work so hard in the off season you know blood sweat and tears together and um today we found a way to get it done i'm so happy happy for everybody congratulations [Music] [Music] running room down the far sideline and a first down for oklahoma to the 26. just a beautiful job by hertz buying more time just patiently stepping away from lockhart lockhart's going to get inside pressure and herch doesn't panic just kind of drifts away and then finds his dump off to connect they are in fuel goal range to take a two-score lead hurts all day to throw against that three-man rush about the press appearance of this team and you know how hard we work as soon as i got here man putting the work in every day and we set out you know to do this and we did but we're not done so we're
