Hello everyone. My name is Andrea and I'm a
destination manager for JayWay Travel. I'm back today with another quick lesson in your
favorite language - Croatian. Last time I showed you some basic words and today we are upgrading
to higher level. Signs are, generally speaking, very helpful and they point you where you need
to go, but at the same time they are not as helpful if you don't know what they mean. While
some words are very similar to English like hotel, restoran and supermarket, others can be tricky. Okay,
so you will most likely arrive at either airport or ferryport. Airport is aerodrom - AERODROM. And
ferry port is Trajektna Luka. Trajekt - as Ferry, TRAJEKT and LUKA as Port. Trajektna Luka. Signs that you'll see most often are street
signs with names of street and square. Street is Ulica, ULICA and Square is trg. TRG. If you want to buy something, you can
visit a store trgòvina or you can just say supermarket. Prices are usually clearly marked
on the item or on the shelf, but if you still want to double check, you can ask how much
this costs and you'll do it like this: Koliko ovo košta? How much - koliko, this - ovo, costs - košta. Koliko
ovo košta. To be able to buy things you will need money. Novac,
NOVAC - and you'll probably need either ATM or Exchange. ATM is BANKOMAT and Exchange is
MJENJAČNICA. If you would like to pay with credit card, you should ask if the place accepts
credit cards and you'll ask: Primate li kartice? Do you accept - PRIMATE LI, cards - KARTICE. Primate li kartice? If you need a toilet, everyone
will understand you if you say toilet or toilet, but Croats more often say WC and we pronounce
it "vay-tse". So if you want to ask where is the toilet? You will ask Gdje je WC? GDJE - where, JE - is, WC - toalet. Gdje je WC? Where is the toilet? If you want to have some
coffee, you will go to Kafić. Like a coffee shop - KAFIĆ. And if you're
hungry you will go to the restaurant, which is very similar to English - Restoran. If
you want to get a beer you will say Pivo - and wine is Vino. White wine is BIJELO VINO and
red wine is CRNO VINO. Yeah, you're learning the colors too. If you want to try something
local, you should try Cedevita. That is Croatian brand of non alcoholic juice and it tastes
really good.Cedevita. If you want to try local specialties, you should go with Pašticada. That
is a slow cooked beef stew prepared with a special sauce and served with gnocchi. So PAŠTICADA. Another
specialty is meat or octopus under the Bell. It's a cooking technique we locally call Peka. Ingredients
are covered with a metal lid or a bell while being part roasted, part steamed, and it's
very easy to pronounce it. PEKA. Lastly, I really hope you won't need these
words, but better safe than sorry. So if you need to say hospital, that is Bolnica. If you
need police, that is Policija and fire station is Vatrogasci. If you need help - pomoć - you
can dial 112, our emergency number. Are you now ready to travel to Croatia?I really think
you are. We at JayWay Travel invite you on a trip that
