hi everyone today I'm going to do a latte makeup tutorial and I've had loads of requests for this it's something that's been trendy on social media now for about a month which is quite a long time for a trend these days in fact we do need to discuss Trends during this tutorial because I yeah we need to discuss because they're coming around way too thick and fast anyway this is one that I can definitely get behind it is a look that I've probably done since I launched my YouTube channel because I love those neutrals I love the brown Shades and there is a new buzzword for it it is basically caramel toned brown tones it's not revolutionary but it is a really really nice look and I thought to do my take on it I would use only drugstore makeup so I've been to um super drug and boots here which are the two main drug stores in the UK and I've picked up some new products from there I also had some products in my archive that are still available that seem to really fit in with this trend nicely some of the products I haven't used before and some I have so we'll also see how they perform and hopefully um I've chosen some really good formulas so I'm going to start with the elf porless primer and this is one the putty primer it's been really around for quite a while now and lots of people love it I am quite shiny today I have put my SPF on this morning a couple of hours ago and um I do look a little bit greasy so this isn't particularly mattifying but I thought I'd show you how I like to apply it and I have tried this once before so I wouldn't say it's tried and tested but lots of people love it so I'm going to just go into my more pourish areas I find that with this type of primer that is about I guess filling the pores although it's not really doing that it's kind of just almost filling the edges of the paws so it gives you more of a optical illusion of the guess less so they look a bit smaller so for that reason I'm kind of just pushing it into the areas where I do have more pores it's not as I say it's not particularly mattifying so I think you'd still need to use um powders and things to set your makeup so I'm just tapping that all over any of the areas where I have larger pores so that is on definitely feels very smoothing it's full of silicones I looked at the inky list the first one is D5 which is quite a cheap silicone which just is about giving you that I guess slide it's an ingredient that I'm not that Keen on environmentally but this is a nine pound um product so it's very inexpensive and um it feels like it's definitely going to give you the slip that you need before makeup now the next product I just bought this so I'm not sure if it's going to be the right shade for me have a little bit of I guess a tan that what I would call a tan for me and this is another elf product this one is only six pounds and it's the hydrating camo concealer I guess that is the problem with sometimes drugstores as well that you can't try stuff on but I'm going to use this just Here There and Everywhere to kind of do my base so hopefully it's by the time it dries down the color will be oh yeah the color looks good so either with fingers let me just have a feel of that after the primer and how that feels yeah there's also some bran wax I saw in this um primer I can absolutely feel that feels a little waxy okay so I'm just gonna blend in if anything this is even a touch more golden than my skin which is good because it will take away any of the redness and this feels like a really nice concealer actually I'm going to do here and there not everywhere and just blend as I go it's actually more coverage than I was expecting although I should have looked when it said camo it's gonna buff that out this actually feels really nice okay this feels like a winner I almost wish maybe I hadn't used the primer because I would have liked to have seen this go on I think this would go on really nicely anyway and you actually wouldn't need a primer under it a little bit up there just buffing any redness and I think if you're going to do this very caramelly toned makeup using all of these caramel and brown Shades the one thing you do want to camouflage is the redness in your skin because if you're going to use those Tawny colors and then you have a lot of redness maybe around your mouth or chin area or Center of your forehead that is going to compromise I guess the overall seamlessness of the look or that kind of like lovely Synergy with all of the tones together so just think about if you do have the redness in the skin maybe neutralizing that and using a bit of coverage on that so that is the base and I am well impressed with this going to go back in actually with a smaller brush and do a little bit of pinpoint using the same color I didn't actually pick up any other concealers while I was out so I don't have a um a different concealer for this so I'm just going to use my art brush and just isolate I'm probably gonna have to do more of this anyway once I've done the bronzer and some other complexion products so I'll come back and do pinpoint maybe towards the end so on to eyes I'm going to start by using this no budge matte eyeshadow this is actually elf again I have got other products which are not elf coming up I'm going to use this more as a base on my eyelid so this will not look particularly like anything it's just more of a primer okay so the next thing I'm going to do is eyeshadow and this was some a palette that I already had in my studio and I have used it before I think in tutorials and it's the Nyx warm neutrals and I think both this shade and this shade will both be really good for this look there is also another Trend which is espresso makeup which is basically a brown smokey eye but we'll do that another time I think I'm just going to stick to more of the latte um more of the caramelly and mid-tone Browns but of course adapt it to your skin tone as well this is a shade that I think will work well on me as more of a wash of kind of caramel because I'm just going to go all the way over the top does have a little bit of Shimmer in which I think will be really really nice yeah that feels absolutely perfect what's nice about this trend is that it is about really just one shade or maximum two shades it's not some complicated you know six eyeshadows and false lash kind of trend it is just more of a almost like a no makeup makeup very very soft caramel wash so I'm just really buffing those edges off and I think I'm just going to use this shade it's so beautiful what I like about it is it doesn't look anything in the palette but it's it's caramel and it's got flecks of sort of warmish bronze which makes it quite um yeah it's definitely got that latte feeling to it so let's go on to Trends I'm going to do a nice wash underneath of this beautiful color so now I'm just curling my eyelashes and I've chosen the L'Oreal telescopic lift mascara which has got great reviews I've not used it before but anything that lifts is good by me oh I like the brush it's very skinny um I'm probably going to use a little bit of brown pencil as well but because I'm going to go underneath the waterline on the top I'm going to wait till after the mascara is done oh interesting brush actually I need to look down a bit more for this so got another mirror well I just get this and again it's quite a no makeup makeup version of Browns so we're not going to go Uber heavy with the mascara more separating I'm seeing I'm quite shiny I love the finish of this um all over concealer but I will need powder I have to see if I've got a drugstore powder I don't think I have so I might have to cheat and use um a more expensive one but I'm going to get all my bronzer on first so yeah just taking those it is a nice mascara feels like it's not dragging my lashes down either same through the lower lashes just catching each Lash but not overloading okay I love this mascara I think what's nice is that it's making the whole look feel elegant like I feel like if my lashes were overly laid in just with this brown wash it would almost take away that beautiful harmonious latte feel on the face it would become something completely different so I really like that next I'm going to use a dark brown pencil I'm just going to put this through my upper waterline just to thicken the roots of the lashes really so not so you'll notice that it's a heavier makeup but just so that we get a little bit more definition across the Lash route there so I'm going to do my brows in a moment but before obviously this base is very glowy it's gorgeous I love the Finish but I want to while it's really glowy I want to do some bronzer I'm going to use a cream bronzer and I've got the Sleek palette of Contour which I think will work really well I'm going to use these two shades here which um I think is going to be a good color combination so not too dark I'm going to just bring that across the center of my nose don't want it to go too kind of orangey in fact I'm going to go a touch lighter than the first one I use I'm going to use this middle one because it seems to have the least amount of yellow and orange in it and I think the trick with this is really blending it so just gonna go across my nose onto my cheeks I'm not really using it like a contour it's a slightly more contouring blush type style rather than a regular bronzer a little bit across the top of my forehead round onto my temples and I think that's going to be enough for now because they tend to develop bronzers especially cream bronzers I feel like as the makeup moves on you always want to add a bit more or blend in a bit more now I have a little bit of concealing that I need to do here which I'm going to show you how I'm going to do that now that the bronze is on but before I do that I want to give a really important tip that I think works so well not everyone suits Brown makeup on the eyes the lips and the cheeks particularly it can be quite deadening once you do the lips in that brownie style and then everything starts to look a little bit flat so it's not for everyone everyone can wear it but you might have to cheat a little bit what I'm going to use to slightly cheat it for me is I'm going to use this tinted gel which is a blush gel I just bought this this afternoon because I thought oh that's it looks so bright but I think it's going to work brilliantly I'm going to put one dot which you can see it's fluorescent you probably think no that's going to ruin the whole look but I'm going to use my brush again and that's got the bronzer on and just take that in the center of the brush and I'm going to add a couple of dots almost inside the bronzer that diffuse so it's it starts with this sort of Pinky flush and then diffuses into the bronzer I don't know if you can see that it's very subtle but it definitely just lifts the look once I've done my little bit of concealing there I think you'll start to notice that actually that works really really well so before I go on to the next thing I'm going to cheat and use a powder just because for my own benefit I don't like seeing myself so shiny on the center of my face so I am going to go back in with the concealer under my eyes and I've got other things to do but for my own peace of mind I'm just going to give the center of my face a quick powder so if you need to conceal your cheeks after you've done your blusher your bronzer and even your liquid highlighter the best tip is to mix all of the products you've used on the back of your hand so a little bit of the blush a little bit of the bronzer maybe a little bit of the highlighter as well and then just using a tiny art brush and I buy these for my local art store and then you can go back in and it's almost like you're digitally retouching any little marks or spots that you have but they will actually match the color of the surrounding skin it's easy so next I'm going to go back in under my eye so I'm going to use the same hydrating camo concealer and actually here in my studio I had the original camo concealer in a lighter shade which is actually too light but I think these mixed together will be really good under my eyes I'm also going to use this liquid highlighter from L'Oreal just to do all of my highlighting now that I have that really nice latte bronzy look coming along so I'm going to put a dot of each of these concealers and then just start to work them in just to brighten under my eyes a little bit because now that that original one is settled in it is a little bit too deep under my eyes and I think this is actually quite a nice time for me to I kept I wanted to talk about Trends and I forgot while I was focusing and concentrating on the makeup so now is a good time so what are my thoughts on all of these trends that are coming through so thick and fast I think it's a makeup historian and just someone who loves makeup and I'd really love your comments on this as well I am loving it because it historically is such an interesting time so I've kind of been thinking about Trends in general and if we think that documented Trends if you like began during the ancient Egyptian times and how there definitely were trends of styles of makeup not just Styles but also provenance um you know where ingredients came from um and that sort of thing so that is really the time of the trend started but each of the trends lasted if we if we use an example the 18th Dynasty which is the one that um includes Tutankhamun and and some of the I guess the fair is that most people know about that lasted 250 years so if you think that Trends are you know in ancient Egypt lasted at least 250 years and then if you think of like medieval Europe where Trends lasted probably longer than that a good few hundred years going into them starting to speed up so 15 16 17 18th century where Trends are starting to last 100 years or maybe a bit less so they've gone from a few hundred years to maybe a century then cut to the 20th century where Trends are pretty much the big trends anyway a decade long so you've got each decade there is a predominant trend then cut to today really and what's happening on Tick Tock and what's happening generally on social media where Trends last maximum about four weeks um before the next one comes along and usually they're lasting a little bit less than that so maybe between two and four weeks that to me is so interesting it's just quite an interesting time to be alive in this sort of moment I mean lots of the trends that are coming along are really just existing makeup looks that are being renamed but it's still really interesting so as long as you take it all with a pinch of salt I mean it's all kind of fun and a combination of marketing and fun so as long as you can take it or the pinch of salt and not take it too seriously because genuine Trends these days in my opinion are technology-led whether it be the medium that they're presented on so whether it is something like a social media platform or an AI platform whatever or it's the science it's the technology of the formulas so anyway that's just my two cents on on Trends and what's happening at the moment but I would love love love your opinion as well in the comments which I'll find ultimately fascinating so before I go back in with my final powdering I'm using the L'Oreal highlighter this is going to give it quite a nice Sheen it's going to go on the top of the cheekbones now because I don't want this to look too separated from the bronzer and the highlighter sorry the bronzer and the blush I'm going to use the same brush again this already has a little bit of the blush on it already has the bronzer on and this will just help me again to keep everything really nicely in synergy so it's not becoming about just a bog standard sort of highlightery look it has that bronziness to it so for brows I'm just going to use this Maybelline tinted eyebrow gel I did buy another one from quite a really really cheap brand in um super drug but it actually was green when it went on my brows so I'm switching to this one which I know is a good color for me and again in keeping with this trend everything is quite if you need a pencil obviously pencil but if you can get away without and just keep them quite fresh and groomed then it really works well and it echoes nicely against the mascara so that is my brows that is my brows done that's my brows done I should say so on to lips and I've chosen a NYX lip pencil and a NYX gloss both in a brownie shade so I'm going to start with a pencil I'm going to go a little bit lower than my lower lip so just a little smile there I was kind of going with that shade that when you drink a cappuccino and you get that kind of oral coffee you get that little bit of brownie thing around your lip you're left with that that kind of a shade and I think this is a really good color for that let's check that shape and then I'm going to go over the top with the gloss yeah I've chosen a brownie shade that has a fraction of pink in it because I think it would look better on me you could probably get away with a lighter one as well lighter brownie color so I've taken my hair down I'm just going to add a touch more lip liner I think this trend definitely has a visible lip liner it's a nod to the 90s so if that's something that you really just don't like or you don't like it on you then adapt it adapt it and make it you and I think that's the thing to take away from Trends now because they're coming so thick and fast they're just meant to be fun and take from them just cherry pick what you want use them as entertainment and adapt it to suit you just make it work for you so that is my take on the latte makeup Trend um using all drugstore products it's a trend that I really like I guess it's because it is quite me it's a look that suits so many people obviously adapt the tone to suit your skin tone but it is a very wearable very flattering look and if you need to add those touches of pink here and there or you just need to lift it a little bit which um I think you'll find lots of people do then do it just add little bits of extra color in there to make it work for you and your skin tone and that is it please do let me know in the comments what you think of this look and what you think of Trends in general and if you have any products that you're are absolutely loving at the moment to create this type of a look do let us all know too so until next time I shall see you soon bye
