expedition everest will have a long refurbishment free soda pop is coming back to epcot you can hop on the monorail at the polynesian once again and the pog juice saga comes to an end sort of all the disney parks news from the week is coming up right now [Music] hey everybody it's aj for disney food blog disney world is gearing up for the big 50th anniversary on october 1st and epcot changes are in full swing we got a lot of exciting stuff to cover so let's dive right in on this week's latest news expedition everest has been announced to have a three-month closure coming up disney world added ee and animal kingdom to its list of upcoming refurbishments the closure is scheduled to last more than three months in 2022 the disney world website now notes that the popular roller coaster will be closed from january 4th through mid-april that's quite a lengthy closure a bit longer than what we typically see for routine maintenance right now animal kingdom has the fewest rides of the four disney world parks and with one of its biggest attractions closed we're interested to see how it makes up for the deficit if any more reopenings are announced before then we'll keep you updated all right club cool is opening soon this is the revitalized version of club cool gonna be opening an epcot on september 15 2021. according to a recent post on twitter from disney the new club cool will celebrate coca-cola in a fresh new way while keeping the fan favorite experience that invites you to explore tasty drinks from around the world that's of course a quote direct from disney so far we've only seen the sign from a distance and a few sneak peeks thanks to imagineer zack ridley we can't wait to see what the new club cool experience is going to be like will the floor be as sticky as the floor was before i don't know we'll be sure to bring you lots of updates when we get the chance to step into the space ourselves and the creations shop is opening crete creations shop sounds like the creature shop but it's not it's a creation shop this is an epcot where a transformation is in full swing sometimes we call it wall cot we've been doing all of our shopping in a temporary mouse gear for a while now we know when the new epcot store is going to open it's called the creations shop not the creature shop and it will be the flagship merchandise location for the park it's gonna open on september 15th as well disney parks made the announcement on twitter by sharing a photo of the light line from the epcot light in color collection which will be exclusive to the creations shop we can't wait to shop till we drop in this new space we'll be sure to bring you along with us when we visit on opening day the polynesian village resort monorail station has reopened this has been under construction since last year as part of the resorts overhaul but we've got some good news it is up and running again you'll notice plenty of new details with colorful additions matching the newly constructed exterior to the building so if you've got to stay booked at the polynesian soon you'll have monorail access directly to magic kingdom again now earlier this week we noticed some of the animatronics were missing from spaceship earth we noticed a caveman was removed from the cave scene and a roman soldier was removed from the rome scene we expect the removal of these animatronics is likely temporary and does not have to do with the previously announced transformation of the ride overall but we're gonna keep an eye out for more updates about spaceship earth and we'll let you know what we find looks pretty weird right now now we do our best to try to keep up with all the construction refurbishments and reopenings at disney world so when anything pops up we want to make sure you're in the know while looking at the calendar this week we noticed cauli river rapids in animal kingdom will be closed for refurbishment november 1st through november 18th so heads up on that november 19th right now doesn't show the ride under refurbishment but of course we're gonna keep you updated there's been another change to the process for snagging a rise of the resistance boarding group one that makes it actually easier now instead of confirming your party when groups drop at seven am you can confirm your party up to an hour before in the my disney experience app beginning at 6 am you can tap into the virtual queue and set your party so that you have fewer steps when boarding groups are available at 7am when the window opens you can refresh the page and join the virtual queue with one fewer button to press if you've tried to get a boarding group before you know that every second counts so this change could make the process easier this new process applies to both disney world and disneyland and will most likely apply to the 1pm drop as well we'll be sure to give this new process a try and report on how it's working now more live music and entertainment has been announced for the 2021 epcot food and wine festival up to this point we've seen the jam and chefs on the canada mill stage mariachi cobra at the america gardens theater and voices of liberty also at the america gardens theater america gardens bandstand is a concert series with different music groups that's just been announced we've already seen epic live champagne orchestra elements sound society the hooligans the vibe the m80s and latin ambition take the stage now we know who will be performing up to almost the very end of the festival the rest of the festival will see latin ambition the champagne orchestra summer breeze the m80s element and the vibe we can't wait to catch these awesome acts performing at america gardens theater as always keep an eye on dfb for all the latest festival updates one of the individuals that was laid off last year during the coven 19 closures was yeehaw bob jackson a performer that fans used to be able to watch over at disney's port orleans resort riverside but now yeehaw bob has announced he'll be coming back to disney world very soon according to bob disney called him recently and told him he'd be returning to the stage october 14th which is the reopening date for disney before orleans resort riverside he is unsure of what his regular schedule will be but he does plan on continuing his virtual sunday night shows we'll keep an eye out for more updates about yeehaw bob and other things around disney world so check back with us for more alright disney revealed the medals for the 2022 walt disney world marathon weekend and they all feature plenty of iridescence in honor of disney world's 50th anniversary for the 5k runners we've got a pluto medal 10k is oswald half marathon has donald on one side and daisy on the other and the full marathon medal has mickey and minnie for the goofy race and a half challenge the half marathon and the full you get a fun goofy medal and the dopey challenge all four races you get the dopey metal and the goofy metal disneyland has announced holiday after hours events these are gonna be called disney merriest nights and they're coming soon five select nights in november and december disney marius nights will take place at disneyland park guests of the event will get limited capacity after hours access to select rides and attractions including haunted mansion holiday and it's a small world holiday throughout the park there will be six separate holiday celebrations in various lands a party with victorian flair on main street usa hosted by mickey mouse and the muppets a bayou inspired celebration with princess tiana in new orleans square a fiesta with miguel from cocoa in frontierland a tropical party hosted by lilo and stitch in adventureland a winter celebration with elsa in fantasyland and a holiday party with buzz lightyear in tomorrowland there will be special entertainment offerings photo backdrops character sightings all around the park plus of course themed food and beverages for guests at the event as well as special marius knights themed merchandise ticket prices vary depending on the date you choose to visit but they generally range from 165 to 175. tickets will go on sale on september 14th 2021 for events held on november 11th 16th 30th and december 7th and 9th they can be purchased online and in the disneyland app no earlier than 9 am okie boogie bash has begun in disney california adventure thursday was the first night of boogie boogie bash and we had a great time the special ticketed event has so many fun activities like trick-or-treat trails a special parade themed food photo ops event-only merchandise and all the villains even new ones oogie wiggy bash will be held on 25 select nights through october 31st ticket prices ranged from 114 to 169 depending on the night and the tickets sold out weeks ago but more may become available later on stay tuned the event takes place in disney california adventure from 6 p.m to 11 p.m and for even more details on this year's event head to disneyfoodblog.com marvel fans might get the chance to run into shanghi and avengers campus but be careful you might also spot death dealer shang chi's former mentor and a high ranking master of the martial arts in the ten rings organization if you're a big fan of shang chi and or all the things marvel be sure to keep your eyes open for these two new characters in avengers campus wondering what else to expect when you visit avengers campus check out our video disney cruise line has started scheduling longer cruises again and you can book them right now the disney fantasy will have seven night cruises out of port canaveral florida beginning october 9 2021 with stops in mexico nassau and disney's private island castaway key the fantasy will also have an eight night cruise to ports in mexico and the bahamas beginning october 16 2021. the disney magic is set to return to sailing on october 28th from miami florida the magic will go on mostly four and five night cruises with stops in the bahamas for four night cruises and the bahamas in mexico for five night cruises pog juice is back not long ago we investigated the disney world mystery where was all the pog juice drinks with pog which stands for passion fruit orange and guava had been disappearing all over disney world because of supply issues with restaurants uncertain when they'd have this delicious elixir again apparently the company that made pog juice went out of business during the pandemic when disney world was closed now this last week we discovered that pog juice is back we asked a cast member at boma who told us that disney had switched suppliers so now pog juice will be coming back all over disney world even though it's a new supplier the drinks we tried tasted just as good as before menus have been released for the swan and dolphin food and wine classic did you know that the epcot international food and wine festival isn't the only disney world food fest you should be excited about well the swan and dolphin food and wine classic will take place october 29th on october 30th and is going to feature over 20 food stations with a lot of different selections available tickets are available now and if you're interested in attending call the swan and dolphin at 888-828-8850 to make your arrangements or just head to their website disney announced this morning that the park's candy kitchens will soon be added to the list of options for mobile order the new locations are now available at disneyland resort and they include marceline's confectionary candy palace candy kitchen food corner and trolley treats the walt disney world locations will be added one by one including candy cauldron at disney springs on september 14th karo makusha and epcot on september 16th zuri's suites shop at animal kingdom on september 21st and goofy's candy company at disney springs on september 23rd now there's a relatively new chili lime cupcake at the candy cauldron in disney springs this one is green in color and appeared to be predominantly lime the cupcake was then topped with what tasted like a vanilla frosting dusted with some chili seasoning and topped with mickey ears and a bow decoration overall the lime flavor was definitely present but it wasn't too overbearing the chili flavor wasn't too strong though you could taste the spice but it was more present in terms of flavor than in heat so it wasn't quite the spicy cupcake that we expected we actually think the chili flavor could have been stronger adding some more chili in there really would have given it more complexity and maybe help take the flavors to the next level now if you want this cupcake you can try it for 5 50 in disney springs and we've also seen it at multiple other candy counters and speaking of cupcakes the salted caramel cupcake is back this is one of our favorites in disney world werther's pumpkin cupcake with salted caramel buttercream it features a pumpkin cake with a werther's caramel filling and is available at caramel koosha in the germany pavilion of epcot for 559 again one of our favorite treats if you love fall flavors like pumpkin and caramel you're gonna love this this one returns every fall season so definitely go try it for yourself in epcot now let's talk halloween push pop there's a brand new halloween treat the mickey boo bash push pop yes this push pop has eyes it comes with a lid so you can snack on the go and it's made of vanilla cake vanilla buttercream sprinkles and crispy pearls all layered together and yes that is a lot of frosting in there if you're the kind of person who thinks most cupcakes don't have enough frosting then this is for you it's not the most unique tasting halloween treat disney world has to offer but frosting and sugar fans will have a lot of fun with its innovative push pop presentation as a bonus you can take it with you and eat it on the go you can find this mickey boo bash push pop which is what it's being called right now at captain cooks and disney's polynesian village resort for 5.99 we've been on the hunt for all the halloween treats in disney world and we found some more the new dome cake at the polynesian village resort is decorated to look like scrump for those who may not recognize this character scrump is lilo's rag doll from lilo and stitch probably it's not really a halloween treat i mean it's just grump right but hey the scrump dome cake is a vanilla cake with a cotton candy flavor inside the outside has red icing at the base and chocolate pearls for decoration a pink chocolate bow and hair topper along with more chocolate decorations for the eyes we got it for 5 49 at kona island but you can also grab it at captain cooks both of which are located in disney's polynesian village resort and amarette has released their fall and halloween treats first we have the pumpkin pecan cheesecake roll with pecan chiffon cake pumpkin cheesecake filling and dolce nutmeg chocolate mousse for nine dollars you'll also find the pumpkin creme brulee which is pumpkin custard with bruleed sugar candied pecans spiced whipped cream and raspberry cranberry tulle for seven dollars yeah there's a lot going on in that one while we've previously seen a pumpkin creme brulee and the disney spring spot this one comes with a few new additions on top and the new haunted mansion petit cake is themed chocolate and vanilla chiffon cake and chocolate brownie filled with diplomat cream and sprinkled with candy coated chocolate pieces and chocolate chips this one's also over at amarette's but was it worth a 22 price tag well it was a great dessert for haunted mansion fans who want to celebrate halloween plus it was definitely a shareable size so you can easily split it with a friend you can try it now through october 31st but fyi there's a lot of chocolate going on in here there's a new specialty drink over at dockside margaritas in disney springs just in time for halloween season the jack-o'-lantern is made with gosling's black rum goslings dark rum bacardi silver rum cointreau which is orange flavored triple sec liqueur orange juice lemonade and a grenadine floater there was a similar jack-o'-lantern drink last year but we think this year's version's color really does remind us of its pumpkin namesake don't be fooled this drink really packs a punch with all that rum but if you enjoy rum or sweet tropical drinks on the rocks then you'll probably enjoy this one too the jack-o'-lantern will be available from september 5th to october 31st for 15 if you want to try it for yourself at the outdoor carts in disney springs you can grab the which way drink now this string features vodka blue curacao of course orange juice and pineapple juice and is meant to be garnished with a poison apple glow cube note that this drink is one we've seen in the past we actually grabbed it last year in disney world we think this drink is pretty sweet at least for us we get it though some people really like sweet tropical flavors in their drinks where you can barely taste the alcohol if that's your thing you might want to try this if you don't like super sweet drinks or you don't like blue curacao you'll probably want to pass on this one if you do want to try it though it's available for 13 at all the bar carts in disney springs though the glow cube would be an additional cost the drink is available right now through october 31st so you've got some time to stop by and check it out the witch's flight is a new halloween offering from jack lindsay's hanger bar this drink flight features bullet rye whiskey white grape juice lime juice and sweet and sour mix with flavors of orange tangerine green apple and violet you can get it of course in disney springs all three drinks are basically whiskey sours with flavored syrups that make each drink a different color but they're all very tasty we will warn you whiskey lovers though they do run on the sweet side if you're the type of person who prefers a whiskey coke whiskey on the rocks or whiskey old-fashioned this might be a little too sweet for you we also love how the flight is presented it would be a lot of fun to try with friends the witch's flight is 14 and available from september 5th to october 31st all right we got a bunch of new halloween snacks over in disneyland first the hawaiian barbecue chicken for 10 49 at studio catering co at disney california adventure but this meal comes with a surprise it's served with fanta pineapple infused fried rice and soy ginger glaze yes fanta as in the soda soda rice we found that the chicken tastes more like average barbecued chicken and the pineapple flavor in the rice isn't quite as strong as we expected although we enjoyed it we still feel like there are tastier options for a quick service meal at disney california adventure we also got the frozen fanta strawberry lemonade for 6.49 it was a great drink for the hot weather we've been having we found it pretty refreshing all right let's talk seasonal pumpkin monkey bread riverbelt terrace has a very exciting pumpkin treat one of the things that riverbelt is known for is those seasonal monkey breads they are delicious right now to our hearts content the seasonal monkey bread offering is pumpkin and the monkey bread was topped with whipped cream and drizzled with pumpkin sauce giving off a very pumpkin pie vibe we really enjoyed this one and we were surprised that it didn't have too strong of a pumpkin flavor if you want to give it a try head on over to riverbelt terrace to pick one up for eight dollars remember this is a seasonal offering so don't wait too long now the new chocolate and matcha churro is here for the halloween season this treat features a churro rolled in chocolate cookie crumbs drizzled with a matcha cream cheese buttercream and strawberry sauce and topped with gummy worms we weren't sure if we were gonna like this one but we were pleasantly surprised by some parts of it the combination of strawberries and chocolate was a winning pair for us and the gummy worms are a nice touch of extra sweetness and texture but we didn't like the matcha on this churro we're not saying this churro is bad but be ready for that matcha flavor if you're not a fan of green tea if you're not big on matcha you can ask for no matcha cream cheese buttercream or ask for it on the side this one gets an a plus for the fun halloween look though so it might be worth it just for some fun pictures and we bet kids are going to want to try this as soon as they see it you can find this over at willy's churros and disney california adventure for 6.75 next up the ghost pepper nachos from lamplight lounge and pixar pier at disney california adventure the ghost pepper nachos are a plate full of house-made green tortilla chips ghost pepper cheese sauce ghost pepper marinated steak refried black beans tomatillo avocado salsa tomato and cilantro while the name ghost pepper nachos implies that these could be ultra spicy ghost peppers of course are among the spiciest peppers in the world we found these to be pretty mild actually there's definitely a kick but nothing overwhelming basically you know disney spicy overall if you're looking for a filling meal that isn't too spicy this is a good option they are a little pricey at 21 bucks though so keep that in mind all right pepper jack cheese stick pepper jack cheese sticks pop up during halloween season over at california adventure this one's dipped in corn dog batter and topped with raspberry sauce pineapple and jalapenos this snack isn't new we've seen it before but it's been quite some time since we've seen it last and in the past it's been served slightly differently with blackberry sauce instead of raspberry this year the snack did not disappoint it is super melty and cheesy and super rad with a little kick if you like us enjoy a good fried cheese on a stick head straight to corndog castle and disney california adventure and get one for yourself for 8.99 note that this one comes with your choice of chips or a cuties mandarin all grace stuff is dressed up for halloween this year red rose tavern is offering the halloween gray stuff which takes their traditional gray stuff which is a white chocolate cookies and cream mousse and red velvet cake with a raspberry center and cranks the spook factor up a notch with a tombstone cookie and halloween sprinkles we are hoping to taste something a little bit different but this tasted exactly like the regular gray stuff with the added component of the shortbread tombstone cookie not a bad thing we really like it we would have just liked a little more variety for halloween but it's still a fun really really instagramable treat to check out for 6.49 if you're a fan of beauty and the beast and you're looking for something unique to try this halloween season head on over to red rose tavern in disneyland the pumpkin cheesecake funnel cake which is pumpkin cheesecake filling and vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream for 8.99 is almost too pretty to eat and pretty incredible that of course is over at hungry bear restaurant in disneyland basically it tasted like pumpkin pie with a scoop of ice cream on top and it was very smooth and creamy the pumpkin cheesecake filling was not artificial tasting it really did taste like good solid pumpkin other halloween items on the menu include honey cream cold brew loaded onion rings loaded french fries and a halloween travel mug so if you're into loaded snacks or want to try pumpkin funnel cake head over to hungry bear on main street usa guests can stop by gibson girl ice cream parlor for the trick or treat sunday for 16.99 this dessert is two sundays in one the first half is sour gummy ice cream what with raspberry sauce gummy treats and fruit candies and the second half is chocolate ice cream and hot fudge and chocolate candy bar pieces so very sweet and sour it comes served in a traditional mickey mouse ice cream bowl while we love the sour and chocolate parts of the sundae on their own once the two halves melt together it's a little too bizarre you may want to eat this one quickly or to enjoy the two sundays separately ask for an extra cup to divide the two before they melt together in merchandise news let's start out with jack skellington the jack skellington annual pass holder popcorn bucket has finally made it to disney world while you can store your popcorn in his head we just think he would be great halloween decor for our house he's available now for 20 bucks for annual pass holders heads up we were asked to show our annual pass holder card and id when purchasing so have those handy we found him at a popcorn cart in disney springs and we'll let you know if we spot him anywhere else and another new popcorn bucket has arrived in both disneyland and disney world for 11 you can eat your popcorn out of mickey and his friend's halloween bucket and guess what it glows in the dark and there's a new dooney and burke collection perfect for disney loving cat owners and it's available both online and in the parks we found it in uptown jewelers and magic kingdom all the bags have the same design with sketches of disney cats playing and posing with a few hidden mickeys as well we saw a wristlet wallet for 128 dollars a crossbody bag for 228 a backpack for 268 and a tote bag for 298. so there we go there's the latest news for this
