with the silly season upon us and christmas right around the corner time is running out to find the perfect gift for friends and family but if you've got access to a 3d printer you might have the perfect gift factory on hand right now and you won't even have to leave the house so in this video i'll show you some awesome gift ideas you can 3d print right now let's get started [Music] how's it going guys angus here from maker's muse these models all make great gifts this holiday season and they're a mix of free and paid designs from various creators around the world i split the suggestions up into categories and you can find them all linked in the description below it might seem cheap to gift someone something 3d printed but i actually prefer when someone puts personal effort into a meaningful gift instead of just throwing money into something you probably didn't want or like just a gift card many of these models are customizable as well using free software like 3d builder which could be a nice personal touch let's start with functional prints and this dice tower is one of my favorite alex on my mini factory has given added functionality to the gorgeous blink fox model by juka the sculpt is designed for minimal support material i would recommend using a support enforcer block just at the exit of the tower and that's it i printed mine in polyacme elixir pla for an incredible ruby shine and use the ender 3 max at 0.15 millimeter layer heights it's one of the longer prints at roughly 24 hours so if you want to print one get on it right now but what if you don't have 24 hours to spare well phone stands i know it sounds pretty lame but it's the kind of thing that's actually really useful but we never seem to buy for ourselves and through the magic of 3d printing there is tons to choose from for the cuteness factor alone i love these little animal phone stands by shearer they're key ring size and only take about an hour to print each at 0.15 millimeter layers i recommend four perimeters and a decent infill to give them a bit of strength that's only very very small she actually has heaps of adorable models to check out and the link is in the description below what about customized smartphone stands instead well using software like windows 10 3d builder or tinkercad you can easily add details such as text to existing models to make them super customized gifts i'm in no way suggesting to do this kind of thing to sell the models because that's wrong you didn't design them all credit still goes to the original creator but you can see how easily i added some text to this universal smartphone holder by originally bcn3d i printed it out in some budget silver pla and print time obviously varies depending on what model you're using but just expect a few hours max they print pretty quickly and again i recommend three or four perimeters for additional strength there are obviously a ton more practical prints to find and customize so let me know your favorites in the comments below next we have puzzles and games these are perfect as stocking stuffers or as a way to keep sugar rush kids preoccupied as you get stuck into the brandy i've shown on the channel before but this labyrinth gift box by user sneaky poo is a personal favorite to remove the lead you have to follow this hidden maze full of tricky dead ends before you can finally reach the goodies inside this model prints great at 0.2 millimeter layer heights and average settings and doesn't require any support material either if you think sneaky poo's model is too easy well there's also this ridiculous model by 3dfab xyz which comprises of three separate puzzles to solve in series i reckon i'd personally last about 10 minutes before i take a hammer to it but some people absolutely love that sort of stuff and it'll keep them preoccupied for a very long time next up is a new game by devin of make anything tippy tree this game is super fun for two or more players and the goal is to place as many of these leaves onto the the trunk as possible without knocking others off or then they're added to your pile and the person who gets rid of all their leaves first wins as a little bonus you can also play devon's titmas tree puzzle raising all the presents under the tree overall though this is a huge print job and might take you several days to print out all the leaves and churn them out but it's well worth it devin does amazing work and has tons more puzzles to check out so what are you waiting for and of course i've assigned my fair share of puzzles over the years but none have infuriated more than this the infamous puzzle cube these four parts form a completed cube but only when assembled in a specific way you print it at 0.15 millimeter layer heights and it's about an eight hour or so print which isn't too bad just make sure a printer is capable of decent clearances and has no string on the parts or they just won't slide smoothly together and if you do print this for your kids this christmas let me know how long it takes them to solve some people seem to get it really quickly while others well let's just say the rage takes over all right time for my favorite category mechanisms toys and curiosities if you follow this channel for a while you know how obsessed i am with this kind of thing and if you haven't subscribed yet well the button's right there i'm not sure where it is on the screen but why haven't you clicked it yet if you want to see more of this then definitely consider subscribing anyway first up in this range has to be sphericons oloids and other weird rolling objects i've had a blast designing these over the years and all these objects share one thing in common they roll in an interesting way and are super fun to play with the sphericons have a really unique zigzaggy path they follow and when printed in the shiny polyacryl elixir filament they just look stunning and this giant one is an anti-oloid which is based off a design used in a kickstarter and again rolls but with a really mesmerizing movement all of these designs are really simple to print and only take a few hours each unless you print it giant like this and it all make great gifts or stocking stuffers for curious minds these nautilus gears by misha t are an absolute classic 3d print and i've used them countless times to demonstrate 3d printing it's a beautiful geared mechanism with a ratio which continuously changes as it follows a logarithmic spiral due to the simple design you can print it in a few hours at .25 millimeter layer heights which is nice and quick and the whole assembly simply snaps together it's an absolutely perfect fidget toy and next we have the sprocket box by clock spring i absolutely love the overkill industrial aesthetic of this design and it's a fully printed place model too which takes incredible skill to pull off clock spring has a huge range of fascinating mechanical designs and they're all very reasonably priced or you can join his patreon which i highly recommend being a fairly large printed place model you need to ensure your first layer is really good so the parts don't weld together you need to make sure you don't have any stringing or layer accuracy issues which would ruin the print and it will take about a day to complete finally i've got a bit of a troll gift idea for children of other parents these spinning tops but they're not just any spinning tops oh no no these are screaming spinning tops based off the traditional bamboo singing spinning tops from thailand and malaysia give this thing a good spin and the sound is way louder than you would expect and it lasts for quite a long time even once the sound dies down they actually continue to spin for ages as long as you print them with plenty of perimeters to increase the mass i recommend at least six make sure they print it with no supports as well so the critical internal chamber isn't blocked up and keep in mind that if it's printed with pla the launcher and stalk of the spinning top will wear quite quickly with the force required to spin them off so i would recommend printing replacements or maybe using abs ptg or even nylon for the stalk and bushing parts either way they should provide hours of fun and huge amounts of annoyance to the poor parents anyway i'd love to know your 3d printing for friends and family this christmas so please leave a comment below and just a heads up links are automatically held for review in the comments so try to avoid them if you can although i try to go through and check them as quickly as i can if you found this video useful then maybe consider subscribing to maker's muse where it is my aim to empower your creativity through technology and i look forward to seeing you again very shortly catch you to guys bye
