LANE vs TUSKEGEE 2021

[Music] welcome to siac football on espn presented by ubs on a fabulous afternoon in tuskegee alabama cleave l alumni stadium on the campus of tuskegee university homecoming weekend week eight of the college football season where the tuskegee university golden tigers play host to the lane college dragons and before we get underway let's take a quick look at the siac standings with savannah state and albany state share the top spot in the east while in the west despite two losses miles college two-time defending champions they're the team to beat with lane tuskegee and kentucky state all lurking nearby hello everybody i'm dwayne walker along with tedisha batiste and tunisia just three games left on the regular season schedule so needless to say both of these clubs need to win out to have any chances reaching the siac championship game yes it has been a wild one in the western division this entire season so yeah the conference the division title and the conference title for that matter are up for grabs lane of course with one and two conference record overall tuskegee with two in one record so yeah this is an indeed a pivotal game to see who gets to represent the western division in the conference game in a couple weeks for elaine coach byron brown he's not only going to depend on a senior quarterback but also a very special wide receiver yeah we asked coach byron brown earlier this week who is his most impactful player on offense anthony evelyn the senior wide receiver leading the conference in receiving yards 176 yards in a game earlier this season against miles college and he's able to help them on offense as well as in special teams not the biggest receiver out there but certainly one who runs great routes and is speedy and can definitely help them to move the chains while on the other side coach willie slater's team is coming off a 29-0 shutout victory over central state and his defense is being led by a couple of brothers from north of the border the avalon twins woodley and wesley so with wesley great game coming out earlier this season 11 tackles against fort valley state also with woodley 16 tackles in a game against morehouse both guys have a sack this season and also wesley or woodley rather was able to get a pick so those guys are ball hogs expect michael huntley to have a long day if he decides to break the pocket all right when just moments away from lane college taking on tuskegee university here we look at lane college coach byron brown in his very first year doing an outstanding job tonight yeah absolutely and he's having a great time a fun time just like our guy dion sanders at jackson state because he's able to coach his his sons ike brown and jeremiah brown so he's getting a little bit of intensity on offense and defense from his sons there we go look at willie slater tuskegee's head coach 16th season gotta love coach slater had an opportunity to speak with him earlier this week and asked him what is the key to success what's been the key to success for a decade and a half and he said point blank if they can't score on us they can't beat us beautiful afternoon as we mentioned 72 degrees and sunny skies lane won the toss but they're deferred and that means tuskegee will recede kicks off and the football is going to roll out of bounds as jamal pritchett lets it roll out at about the 11 yard line so that's where tuskegee will take over the football third time the ball was kicked out of bounds this season by shaw's then we get a look at the starting quarterback this afternoon for tuskegee bryson williams a six foot three incher he's a sophomore and he's a left-hander wait a minute hold on let's hold the phone as we look at the stylers looks like they're going to go with lewis williams and guess what he was the siac week 7 newcomer of the week the six foot four inch left hander out of north cross georgia he also ran for 70 yards in last week's 29 nothing shutout victory over central state and wayne not shocking with that move by coach slater because he really does give coach versatility under center first down in 10 for tuskegee avanti patterson on the carry let's set the starting lineups patterson will be the main ball carrier for tuskegee rush for over 600 yards this season so far terry bryant is the fullback the receiver group is led by number five stephen hodges kenyon webb and jamal pritchett are the other wide receivers alexander mitchell is the starting tight end while the guards on the right side javelin west next to him the center is nathan harrison in the left guard sean stinton and left tackle cameron smith will set the defense for you in just a moment second down and eight after that two yard game and that pass sales incomplete intended for steve hodges on the far sideline [Music] you can look at stephen hodges has over a thousand yards career in receiving to nietzsche yeah he's had an outstanding season for the golden tigers thus far been one of the favorite targets both of lewis williams and bryson williams third down and eight coming up for tuskegee so far this season they are at a 39 percent clip 38 of 97 on the season third down at eight single setback next to him that's patterson they'll throw to the far flat and it's complete to montreal and he's going to be run out of bounds shy of the first down jonathan montrovo just his third catch on the season tucker took her on that stop for lane college and it will bring up a fourth down situation there you get a look at ryan duff number seven he'll do the honors and back for lane college one of the most dangerous return men in all of college football anthony evelyn number one nope they got virgil young back there number 86 he's going to let the football bounce and it takes a bit of a good bounce for tuskegee but you want to look at what lane was able to do on defense able to get the golden tigers off that field with the three and outs now let's see what the lane college offense will be able to do their first possession and they will have the football first down and 10 at their own 16-yard line here we're going to look at quarterback michael huntley the senior pass for a couple of touchdowns [Music] last week versus miles you saw his numbers a couple of touchdown passes and a three-point loss first down to 10 from the 16. handed to ike brown up the middle and he's going to be stopped after a very short [Music] and you talk about what huntley's been able to do this entire season he's been the offensive player of the week in the sic and in that near comeback win against miles college lane was down 15 points and huntley was able to bring them back 176 of those yards that anthony evelyn was able to get 248 yards for michael huntley in that near comeback win for lane vernon samuels on that last stop for tuskegee it was a seven yard second and seven excuse me that passes on the near side flats to anthony evelyn before being run out of bounds there you get a look at him coach firing brownie calls the offense for this lane college team they're one of the leaders in the conference they're averaging 30 [Music] four points per game and one of the reasons they're able to do that is because of how efficient they are on first down able to get 15 first downs in their last win and convert even 4-6 on fourth down when they needed it free play and it's complete [Music] nice pass there by huntley finded number 15 micah grizzby the 6-1 senior out of marietta georgia but let's find out what referee ben cole has to say [Music] here comes ben cole now offside defense number 72 penalties decline results of the play first down lane first down lane college and that's exactly what coach brown said he wanted to do he'd been watching film to see how they could get themselves into third and short and third and manageable situations there third and two and lane was able to convert and move the chains first down and ten at their own 42-yard line huntley waiting in shotgun formation trip wide receiver to the left ike brown with the football and he's going to be stomped by number 44. first man on the scene that's jeremy dees dees is the junior out of evergreen alabama on the stop they'll mark that football at the 43 so we'll give them a gain of one and call it second down and nine correction loss of four on the play second down to 14. brown carry spinning near the original line of scrimmage up to the 44-yard line wesley apollon number 14 first man on the scene for tuskegee 10 minutes 54 seconds to play in the first quarter there's no score homecoming weekend in tuskegee lane college nothing tuskegee nothing third down situation now for lane college lane college this season so far 39 33 of 84. [Music] first down yardage and more before being run out of bounds in tuskegee territory and evelyn on that play you'll see the quick snap and you'll see huntley look for his guy and one thing about evelyn he always knows where to get the ball and he's able to advance it there with a little juke and just a little bit of speed getting to the outside to get that first down quick snap far side this time to evelyn down to the 42-yard line so a pickup of three it'll bring up second down and seven tuskegee comes in with a three and four record but still in the hunt both of these teams they need to win out as we spoke of earlier and evelyn right there even though it's a short pass from huntley kind of showing you his skills on the ground as well with just a little bit of juke there just to get a couple yards on that first down wesley applein on that tackle on this second down in seven situation twin wide receivers to the top and bottom of the formation there's a snap huntley near sign has a band and it's caught gritsby once again so his second catch in the series [Music] if you look back at that play dwayne huntley had all the time in the world to get that ball to grizzly and that's one of the things that coach brown talked about earlier in the season just the o-line being efficient and avoiding pre-snap infractions and just making sure that they went at the line of scrimmage 23-yard pass play first down and 10 from the 19 brown sweeping right down to the 15 down the 14 yard line before being tripped up by number 19 fletcher jordan and a nice block there by the left tackle terence jordan to spring brown so he's able to pick up that extra yardage now there's a pass towards the enzo looking for grigsby touchdown lane college a quick hitter huntley to grigsby his third reception of the series first touchdown of the year and that's just a good heads up play by huntley sees his man open and if it's a jump ball i'm giving the jump ball to my guy and my guy is going to go up and get that 19 yard well let's get that home let's check that [Music] waiting for that snap if the point is up and the kick is good and with eight minutes and 34 seconds to play lane college has a lead thanks to a 19-yard touchdown pass to mr grigsby [Music] nice and welcome back everybody lane college burst out to a seven nothing lead over tuskegee you can look at head coach byron brown his team looking to make a late season surge yeah and coach brown has to be pleased with that first drive efficient and effective on the part of his offense and you saw michael grisby there getting his second touchdown of the season noah shaw's set to kick off and it's going to be taken there by jamal pritchett 15 up to the 20-yard line maybe the 21-yard line let's call it a return of 11 and that's where tuskegee will take over for the second time in the game [Music] so look to see what lewis williams and his offense is able to do on their second drive of the day obviously coach later talked about the fact that hey if a team can't score they can't beat us so lane college strikes first time for tuskegee to strike back [Music] and here comes that offense being led by louis williams the newcomer of the week six foot four inch right hander [Music] he ran for 70 yards last week in a three and a 29 nothing shutout over central state first down in 10 from the 21 yard line williams now looks towards the [Music] bench and there's going to be a delay penalty five yard penalty first down that's going to move tuskegee back five yards and coming into this game they're not penalized a whole lot only averaging five penalties per game for 54 yards that's amongst the tops in the conference and a big part of that is because at the beginning of the season coach slater talked about the fact that he had to start true freshman on offense but they've matured and developed and so you really don't see these infractions that often first down and 15 quarterback lewis on the keeper and he's going to get back to near the original line of scrimmage [Music] depending on the mark flake tucker then you got to look at him number 27. ran him out [Music] here we go with the second down situation second down [Music] and 10 from the 21. shotgun formation good low and patterson in the backfield williams has a notion for the near side now he'll scramble off to the right under siege he'll throw the football and it's going to be complete to webb number 83 [Music] but there is a flag down as we get a look at the replays williams is forced off to his right but an elusive lewis williams could because he's able to get away from that that lane college defense and at least make something out of that play but let's see what that penalty is they're discussing it right now and it could be a late hit on look williams as he scrambles out of bounds right here yeah that little shove right at the end looks like bryce mckenzie got him right there nice camera work there that's smooth we'll wait for ben cole to give us the official word in just a second ben cole iii he's our referee this afternoon and as we mentioned before we talked about tuskegee being one of the least penalized teams for lane college they averaged seven penalties per game for 60 yards illegal touching offense number 83 also we lose loss third down so we'll replay that down it'll be third down once again because the receiver number 83 kenyon webb he ran out of bounds and then came back into bounce so that would make it a legal touch which probably did save tuskegee on that as well because bryce mckenzie along with mckenzie howard definitely had a little extra shove towards the end of that play on losers no doubt third down and 10 from the 21-yard line good low in patterson set behind williams he waits he receives he looks left he throws left and it's incomplete left [Music] looking for steve hodges number five and watch here at the top of the screen to nietzsche where he steps out of bounds right there hairline step out of bounds there comes back in wow but good officiating no doubt about it so to bring up a funny situation here for tuskegee ryan duff number seven he's averaging 35 yards per boot and back deep virgil young number 86 i'm surprised to see anthony evelyn not back there i was anticipating him being back there but it's virgil young [Music] there's the booth here you get a look at ryan duff time to take homecoming because only students are allowed at homecoming this season just due to covet protocols so first couple of drives stall for tuskegee let's see what lane can do on their second drive of the game first and ten a little reverse action anthony evelyn with it gets up to the line of scrimmage 3540 up to near the 43-yard line so a gain of nine on the trickery and we talked about that earlier the versatility that evelyn gives you so that you could do a little reverse like that and you see him able to pick up some key yards on the ground for the dragons second down in one from the 43 like brown the ball carrier he bounces off of a man still on his feet up to midfield and he prances to about the 46-yard line first down lane college and i brown with a little edge at the end of that like take that to tuskegee golden tigers oh as we get a look at the replay there yeah you'd love to see it a little stiff arm by ike brown and then a little shoulder move to say hey i'm getting this first down 11-yard pickup on the play by brown brown the ball carrier wants more and this time he eats to about the 45 yard line 44. check that number 25 kylan dew on the carry dues averaging 5.1 yards per carry this season when spelling ike brown second down from the 44-yard line after the three-yard game there's ike brown trying the middle this time and he's going to be brought down yeah tuskegee sniffed out that play before they could ever get before lane college could ever get going wesley avalon on the tackle and he's had an outstanding season so far yeah like we talked about earlier wesley and also his brother woodley they're getting double-digit tackles in each and every game and really affecting the play both of the quarterback as as well as on the ground and in the air third down and six from the 42-yard line for lane college they're moving right to left wayne walker tenecha batiste five minutes and seven seconds remaining first quarter lane college with the lead and the football twin receivers to either side of the formation as the as huntley looks to the bench to get the call [Music] evelyn in motion to the right here's huntley looking peering throwing it's complete evelyn what a move as kobe mitchell number 18 had to grab him by the shoestrings to bring him down and once again you see here that huntley's o-line giving him plenty of time to find his guy and there evelyn is and just a little bit of a juke there but tuskegee's got to do a better job at tackling at that first level as well gain of eight first down yardage first and ten complete to evelyn and evelyn moves the football down what's that about eight yards yeah with that quick shuffle pass from huntley to evelyn just to move the chains and once again put the dragons into short second and short check that six yards on that last play so we'll stay second and manageable there we go shotgun formation huntley has a man in the far side flat he'll keep it he'll run down to the 20 15 yard line before sliding down so another sizable gain by the shifty quarterback that's a gain of 13 yards and huntley doing it with his legs this time to put the tige to put the dragons in position in the lower red zone there you get a look at him and this young man waited his turn does all his coach byron was so high on him coach brown was so high on the work ethic his dedication despite some even some personal tragedies in his life yeah 13 yards per game in the conference while he's not even a passing qb as we saw in that last play brown still on his feet before being wrestled to the ground by a host of tuskegee golden tigers there you get a look at the coach's son one of the coaches son now coach brown has the distinction of having not just one but two sons yeah so he gets to see one of his sons on just about every play every down ike brown of course on offense jeremiah brown on defense all right loss of two on that last carry it'll bring up second down in 12. and in that backfield we've got a big block of number 55 tavion turner they'll give it to brown brown pulling his way down to the 10 maybe the 8 yard line that's good enough for a first down and just a heads up play by brown there just seeing that the gap was closing so he bounces to the outside eludes a couple tackles and first down well there's an actual time out on the field you can look at ike brown walking off we're going to walk off with this commercial break with lane collis leading it 7-0 [Music] welcome back we had an injured player on that last play down for tuskegee number 23 ronald brown the medics are tending to him as you can see ike brown and mr smith had a collision yeah as just as brown is going down on that final part of that play you see that shoulder just kind of goes and leans into smith at the end they move the football back to the yard so no first down third down and two for lane college second man through that's ike brown [Music] and i'm not sure if he got it number four sean cross in the mix for tuskegee and dwayne that's an interesting call on third and two because lane has been able to run the football except up the middle against tuskegee so interesting call on third and two especially in the low red zone where you have an opportunity to go up 14-0 and let's see you'll see right there really yeah nothing there in the gap for for ike brown so be interesting to see if lane college decides to go for it noah shawls in for lane and that kick is going to be blocked and it's going to be returned back the other way antonio keenan number one with the football and i don't think anybody's gonna get him touchdown tuskegee golden tigers antonio keenan jr the six footer out of atlanta georgia martin luther king jr high school and who saw that coming lane college decides not to go for it on a fourth and short they've been excellent on fourth down conversions this season tuskegee blocks and takes it all the way back to the house for the touchdown to tie this thing up carl matthews is going to get credit for the block i believe the football ricocheted off of him so he'll get credit for the block and antonio keenan jr will get credit for the touchdown [Music] and now in for tuskegee number 36 arnez huskitch the extra point attempt is up and that attempt is no good so how about that [Music] hooch was 79 percent on the season in extra point conversions it will be interesting to see because with a game this close you need every every point will count offside defense half the distance you played a try okay so they'll get an extra shot at it and they actually could go for two if they decided to and i talked about arness hutch he's actually 14 of 16 on extra point attempts this season 14 of 16. that's 88 percent and he'll get another try [Music] kevin geez the whole uh correction stephen hodges is the whole the snap the kick it's up and that kick is good [Music] and with one minute and eight seconds left in the first quarter of play thanks to that long special teams returned by antonio keenan jr the redshirt sophomore he's got his team on the board [Music] so we'll take another angle and look at that block perfect snap but the kick gets blocked right there as it's going up perfect set by your holder and right there a low kick and he's right there to scoop it up and take it back and it gets a nice angle trying to get a yardage for you on how long that return was in excess of 80 yards how about it for antonio keenan jr now you get a look at willie slater i know he's happy about that special team's play [Music] yeah he has has to be pleased because dwayne that could have easily been a 14 to nothing lead by lane college or 10 nothing lead by lane college again interesting choice early on in the game for coach brown to instead of going for it on fourth down where they've actually been very successful in converting to go for the field goal which turns into a touchdown for tuskegee whose skits will kick off young and evelyn back deep but football will roll into the end zone and therefore lane college will have it first out and 10 at their own 25 yard line there you go look at micah michael huntley the five foot 11 inch senior quarterback out of nearby montgomery alabama [Music] and as i mentioned before to nietzsche coach brown had so many wonderful things to say about this young man yeah he talked about the maturity that he's shown the patience that he's been able to show the fact that he never quits and just does all the right things despite losing his mom and just having to deal with so many other challenges in his personal life he's just remained a stand-up kid he's been a career backup but now he's 30 yards per game in the conference and is showing his prowess fast again running the ball first down and 10 nearside pass to grigsby it's complete and grigsby is going to be wrestled out of bounds or just inbounds excuse me by carl matthews and fort grigsby that's his fourth catch in the ball game to go along with that touchdown reception on the very first series a couple of those short tosses worked for lane on that last drive but looks like the golden tigers are ready for it this time no gain on that last pass play brings up second down and 10 from the 25-yard line just 35 ticks to the clock remaining in the first quarter lane college with the football moving right to left [Music] there's a snap huxley calls his own number 35 up to the 39-yard line [Music] so huntley using his feet for a positive gain and the golden tigers allowing huntley to get to that second level could have stopped him at the first level but got to do a little bit of better job of tackling and wrapping him up especially when the quarterback becomes running back that is the end of the first quarter well nonetheless that's a 14 yard running play by quarterback michael huntley and thanks to that touchdown pass to micah grigsby put his team up seven nothing but our quarter score is lane college seven tuskegee seventh [Music] so welcome back everybody dwayne walker along with tanisha batiste [Music] just about ready to begin the second quarter of play with our score lane college 7 tuskegee 7. special teams playing a role here in this one as well as quarterback play 14-yard pickup on that last run by michael huntley senior quarterback lane college going left to right first out and 10 at the 39-yard line rolling to the right and passing and completing to the tight end on that play number 84 ryan morris he's a freshman out of shreveport louisiana and you see right there huntley looking to his right rolls out and that's actually the first pass for the tight in this game and then a nice little shoulder move there to advance the chains four yard pickup second down and six huntley and shotgun formation ike brown behind him and the up man is number 82 nick pannell the tight end now hustle will wait for the snap twin ride receivers to the far side of the football field there's the snap and the hand off to brown he'll step past one man but he'll be tackled nonetheless by anthony keenan jr number one as well as number three on the scene carl matthews looks like keenan is everywhere for the golden tigers so far today and in that last play you just saw brown again trying to run up the middle that pass that that particular play tuskegee actually has an answer for it has had an answer for so far this afternoon sean cross stuck his nose in there as well it brings fourth phase third down and seven situation [Music] waiting patiently there's the snap big hitter over the middle to evelyn evelyn first down yardage midfield 45 shanks a man and now to the 44-yard line antonio keenan jr had to grab him by the ankles to stop him and on that play you see huntley seeing evelyn come across the middle he's able to get that ball it was a little bit high but he's able to get that and pick it up to help move the chains for the dragons 13 yards on that pass play first down and 10 for lane college that football is incomplete it'll bring up a second down to 10. that one was a close one and you see there again just the presence of mind that evelyn always has because it was right there at the point of a backward pass but ruled incomplete davier hamilton forcing the issue there you get a look at him he's a redshirt junior out of compton california also he transferred in first quarter some highlights here's where the game changed the lane college dragons decided not to go for and block field goal to tie this thing up 7-7 that was an 84-yard touchdown return of that block kick by antonio jr and that knotted our score at seven second down and ten from the 44-yard line of tuskegee lane college with quick hitter in the middle it's complete down to the 30-yard line complete the number 14 jacquez jones the redshirt freshman out of orlando and they're going to mark the football at the 30. it's a 14 yard pass play first and 10 for this lane college offense they are not shy about passing the football although they give ike brown up the middle on this one and ike brown is corralled down by number three kyle matthews but not before a sizeable gain as we get a look at the replay to nietzsche yeah that was a great run great cuts by brown but wow that was darn near a horse collar nothing called there nine yards on the gain it brings up a second down in one [Music] huntley receives the snap now he'll head around stops now bounces off a man now [Music] number two in your camera right there number nine right there devier hamilton and ike brown didn't get any yardage on that play but i just like the moxie of it the bounce back and try to bounce to the outside because that is where he's had more success but there is a player down for lane college that's that's number 55 tavon turner he's the red church junior out of fellowship louisiana while they tend to him let's take time out there's our score knotted at 7. [Music] welcome back everybody dwayne walker along with tanitra batiste along with tavion turner right there he was the injured ball player getting a little camera time the big offensive lineman injured on that last play but michael hundley and the lane college offense will resume business here good to see turner able to get back up on that play because he's down for a minute there they credited brown with a first down carry so it's first down in 10 from the 20-yard line for lane college they're in the red zone and so far this year 22 of 28 79 percent efficiency on the first down because ike brown has just been ripping this golden tigers defensive part particularly when it bounces outside you see there he's able to pick up plenty of yards and just move the change right back into the high red zone for the third time this afternoon antonio keenan jr on that stop we talked about number 24 ike brown coming in he's [Music] got eight touchdowns on the ground so far in his rush for 381 yards coming into this campaign here we go wildcat formation brown he'll receive the snap and he's going to be rustled down however that did not fool a whole lot of people number 30 cameron tate came up to make that stick cameron tate the linebacker out of warner robins georgia yeah i don't particularly like the call dwayne on second and one that's one where i'll go with the quarterback sneak i'll go with a bounce out to the outside but i i don't think the trickery was needed especially in the high zone where you're looking to move the chains well tennis they should just keep doing what works give the ball to brown give the ball to brown let it bounce to the outside and let them get get you down the field that way speaking of brown there he is as well as a young man tavion turtle the lead back they give it to brown second man through brown pounds his way down to the six maybe the five yard line and just like we talked about dwayne do what's working if it ain't broke don't fix it he bounces out to the outside and he just keeps chugging and he keeps those legs churning nine yard pickup and once again tavion turner lining up at fullback hauntley little missnap but he'll regain his grip brown sweeping to the right and he's going to be tackled by cross shawn cross the five foot 11 inch linebacker out of birmingham alabama and that play took a little bit of time to develop and it gave the tigers the chance to reset before brown was able to turn up up the field nice lead block however by tavion turner yeah good to see him right back in a couple plays after he everyone second quarter action seven minutes and 22 seconds to play before intermission lane college in tuskegee tied at seven dwayne walker along with tanisha batiste tanisha there we go look at head coach willie slater in his 16th year searching for another siec championship and slater talked about it with us earlier this week about the defense being physical and not let the other team change the line of scrimmage and how important that is on third and manageables and we've seen that time and time again on these last couple of possessions against lane first down in 10 for tuskegee and on that carry avonte patterson and patterson to nietzsche has been fairly quiet on this afternoon coming into today's game averaging 87 yards per contest via the rush yeah and avante patterson the second in rushing yards in the siac with 315 coming 315 yards rushing coming into this game pretty quiet today bootleg by williams up to about the 36 yard line before being thrown out of bounds there we go look nice ball fake there as he calls his own number sweeping onto the right hand side credit number three on that stop nigel canada the red shirt junior out of mansfield louisiana here we get a look at him and i like the play but i like the pursuit of nigel canada even better on that play nigel candle two tackles for lost and an interception so far this season first down there's patterson up the gut nine maybe ten yards he looked like he was shot out of a cannon on that play and he looked like he was trying to silence us from our comments a couple of plays earlier but what a great gap that his o-line gives him to even be able to make that play and maybe patterson's warming up nigel canada on the tackle but it looks like he got the sore end of that exchange there you see him doubled over might even be tripled over now if i'm tuskegee i'm going right at him patterson on the second down and one carry up to the 48 yard line and that's a tuskegee first down so who knows to nietzsche maybe they did hear us talking about him up here maybe so and it's interesting to see here because again just straight up the gut mano amano i'm putting my shoulder down and i'm getting this first down i'm moving these chains donnian barnes on that tackle for lane college first down from the 48-yard line patterson will cross over into enemy territory and he's slow to get up [Music] make no mistake goodbye to both of these teams out here really physical it's been a physical game so far to nature yeah and both teams have actually had some success on the ground but i'm interested to see which team we haven't really seen it since one of the earlier possessions in the first quarter with lane college but interested to see even right here on the second and sixth if maybe tuskegee might try to air it out down the field and they've got the guy to do it their quarterback louis williams he's thrown for five touchdowns already this season stop and go there by patterson but he's going to be brought down by number eight jeffrey johnson as well as the middle linebacker number 52 mackenzie howard the redshirt freshman out of harvest alabama now patterson after successive carries looks like he may need a blow there you can look at number two that's bryson williams the backup quarterback today he's a left-hander next to head coach willie slater sending in the offensive signals interesting call on second down because i was looking for maybe an rpo or some play action where lewis williams could have taken advantage of the success they're having in the run game and maybe aired it out well here we see it on third down third down and seven after the three yard gain williams tried to sidestep a man but he can't and he's going to be wrestled to the ground by number 91 jeremiah murphy he was the first guy there along with number 94 that's taequan brown the junior out of lakeland florida there you go look at him and williams really would know where to go on that play with all of his receivers covered downfield so essentially a coverage sack there for lack of a better term on the part of the golden tigers but [Music] or on the part of lane i should say ryan duff in to do the party the football resting at the 49-yard line johnny fuentes number 21 will do the snapping honors there you get a look at ryan duff who's averaging 35 yards duff talking a little stuff as we go to break seven all our score with 252 to play in the second quarter [Music] you [Music] welcome back to lane college versus tuskegee all tied up 7-7 at the 252 mark in the second quarter and we got a lot of competitive games going on in and around the siac today it's still a couple weeks left before conference games so anything can happen whether in the western division or the eastern division in this conference it's still anybody's title to grab ryan duff and tunisia to do the putting for tuskegee averaging 35 yards per punt it's a high spiral and it's going to be taken at the 14-yard line by evelyn and that was a 37-yard punt by ryan duffy and that's really the first time we've seen evelyn although it's a fair catch but first time we've seen evelyn really in special teams play for lane today [Music] let's see if the lane college offense goes to a two minute offense if you will with two minutes and 44 seconds remaining in this first half of play seven seven are scored lane college coming into four and three tuskegee three and four but more importantly it's those in conference and in division games that are going to matter down the stretch both of these teams need to win out first down and 10 the 14-yard line trip wide receivers to the near side of the football field including ike brown number 24. ike brown can be just as dangerous out of the backfield he's caught 13 balls so far this season there's a pass to the far side to evelyn and evelyn's going to creep up to the 19 yard line for a five yard pass play it will bring up second and five [Music] and you mentioned the fact that both of these teams can need to win out in order for them to potentially take the western division for the siac dragons on the road for these last three games against tuskegee of course today along with central state and benedict second down and five and you get a look at huntley inside that face shield twin receivers to the near side of the football field claps his hand receives the football now looking still looking he's under pursuit from behind and he's going to be tackled don't think he quite made it however number 25 chased him down and you see there huntley trying to buy himself a little bit of time maybe into one of his receivers downfield is open darren peterson and ridley on the tap [Music] and did they rule out first down yardage yes first down first down and 10. huntley far side that ball is going to be deflected it looked like number 25 deflected that pass darren peterson and that pass thrown a little low by huntley lucky that it's just a tip ball and not picked off peterson is pretty dangerous three sacks on the year five tackles for loss a forced fumble fumble recovery so he gets it in minute 28 to play in the second quarter seven seven our score michael huntley getting the start this afternoon in motion comes evelyn near side of the field back to pass haunted across the middle of greece who has been his favorite receiver so far in this contest and ricksby is going to be corralled out of bounds by number three carl matthews the third and good for grigsby to get out of bounds on that play lane college with two timeouts left with a minute and 17 left on the clock so they could make something happen potentially get a score before going into the half third down we'll call it seven after that short exchange it's i love watching the charades that's that's what it closely resembles to me when they're going through those hand signals on the sideline it's pretty fun my thought exactly dwight i was actually having fun watching coach brown with a signal that football is going to be deflected how about a deveer hamilton getting a hand on that football outstretching that six foot three inch frame and a very very dangerous pass by michael huntley almost in the shadow of his own end zone and boy those are the type of defensive plays willie slater needs for this team [Music] and it will bring up a fourth down situation fourth down and seven and a good situation for tuskegee potentially because they've got three timeouts left with a minute and 12 left on the clock so they may be able to put some points on the board before we go in for half time kevin gee boots that football is going to be taken at the 46 yard line by pritchett so that's where the tuskegee offense will take over the football [Music] on that 35-yard pod so let's see if this tuskegee offense that's really has had i mean difficulty really getting it going so far today yeah that this this will be interesting to see if they're able to take advantage of that short punt and great field position like you said the offense has been quiet their only points coming on a botched field goal and a return for touchdown earlier in the game [Music] first and ten from the 45-yard line 30 yards on that last punt correction first and 10 from the 45 yard line williams has it in the pocket looking and he's going to be grabbed by bryce mckenzie from behind bryce mckenzie from his defensive line position coming up and making a huge stop there and a near clean just to clear and that was one of those where you just mckenzie just wanted that mackenzie wasn't going to let lewis williams get away to make a play in that situation and that will be recorded as a sack his first of the campaign loss of three past far flat it's going to be complete to number 17. that's jamal pritchett the wide receiver out of jackson alabama [Music] and that football is going to be marked near midfield call it the 48-yard line [Music] and it brings up a third down [Music] wonderful get to see that man number two bryson williams [Music] remaining [Music] third down and second pass is complete the web web drew cement gets the first down as he sidestepped flake wood tucker as the clock however it ticks but now it stopped there you get a look at kenyan webb on that reception right there his 10th reception of the campaign and now williams will fire the football on the ground to stop the clock and bring up second down [Music] so let's see what play call tuskegee has in its back pocket for this type of situation with 18 seconds to play it'll be interesting to see if lewis williams has the arm strength to get that ball down the field and maybe just try if not into the end zone just try to get something deep on this play on second and 10. or they could opt to give it a go with their field goal kicker we're talking about arnez huskich who's four for six so far on the season on field goals good low in the background he steps up and blocks farmer and farmer's been quite until right there there's a guy whose name we have not called all afternoon long and he's a terror andrew farmer that's his seventh sack of the season and absolutely you're right andrew farmer has been quiet all season three and a half sacks in one game earlier this season and right there just wraps up lewis williams and essentially ends any possibility that lane has of scoring before the half i feel a little jit because normally he'd take a bow but he didn't after that sack exchange yeah we've been waiting on that all half all week i talked about that during the pregame meeting anyway there's eight ticks of the clock left after that big defensive play by andrew farmer and as we get a look williams in the pocket and then farmer just simply overwhelmed his man the upband number 34 jarvis mckee had no chance really and you see that williams too may be holding on to that ball too long and kind of staying in the pocket once it was flushed but really and truly former never gave him an opportunity to even make a play not at all and we'll take that if we can't get about we'll take a little give me some from that tuskegee student crowd out there today all right third down and a long way let's see what they have in the playbook for williams here's comes farmer again pharma now he's going to launch it downfield williams showing off that arm holy toledo that's going to bring us to halftime to me that was a highlight of himself watching him crank that football down the field yeah that was amazing that was what i really looked for on that second down but didn't quite have an opportunity to do that just wishes receivers would have turned their heads to possibly give him a chance well well well what can you say about that first half after 30 minutes of play that you can look at louis williams walking off this field his tuskegee golden tigers and a 7-7 ball game with the lame college dragons and right now we're here with coach willie slater coach slater are you with us yes coach slater 7-7 at half what were some of your observations in that first half of what your team needs to do to get it going on offense well obviously the defense has stayed on the field the whole time offensively seemed like i mean we hadn't had field position that makes it tough if you got to go 80 yards your chances of scoring is like one out of 30. that's just the statistics but uh we hadn't been very productive offensively either so we've only had uh four possessions i think and uh we hadn't gotten either one of those to uh to be converted into points we're fortunate that we got a field goal that the guy missed he kicked it into the back of our guy we picked it up and ran it back for for a touchdown it seems like coach you were able to get some pressure on that lane college offense particularly in their short yardage situations with short passes so talk a little bit about that pressure that your team has been able to get especially in that second quarter within those short passing situations against lane yeah i mean the running game i think i i think our defense is playing well against the run we're not defending number one very well and that's why they're getting all the place especially big plays on third downs and all of that stuff we got to understand that he's on the field since he's the best player on the team so we got to do a better job of covering them but at the same time we got to do a better job of covering those other guys they're going to throw it to when when we cover him all right well thanks a lot coach possessions a little interesting to see what they were able to do especially on that last drive let's take a look here we see huntley throwing it down the field and you see a great catch there and they just continue to move the chains and move the ball and move it around because it was brigsby it was evelyn it was anybody who could put their hands on the ball and then you see there again groups be having a solid day getting his third touchdown of the season today but when it mattered in the low red zone when lane had an opportunity to take a 14 to nothing lead they make the decision not to go for it on fourth down the field goal is blocked and then the game turns on a dime for the long 83 yard return on that uh field goal block so now it's a seven seven game and it's really anybody's highlights shall we say during this weekend yeah it's been interesting because of course homecoming here just a little bit different this year because it's student only but nonetheless still beautiful pageantry for homecoming but yeah we had a lot of sparks and highlights in that first quarter from both lane college as well as tuskegee virtual homecoming virtual highlights so to speak they were gonna look mike huntley hooking up with his favorite receiver in that first half micah grisby he caught four balls including a touchdown that put his club up seven nothing they also got a quick dose of ike brown as well to neutral yeah i ground and what he was able to do on the ground is what kept things going but ultimately the decision to not go for it on fourth down turns into a touchdown for tuskegee no question about it and there that field goal missed by noah schulz is off to the right and again the decision not to go for it on fourth down down cost lane some points and there you see lane's defense breaking through against lewis williams yeah andrew farmer picked up his conference leading seventh sack of the season and speaking of lane college byron brown head coach of lane college is joining us coach how you doing today i'm doing fine how you guys doing all right we're doing fantastic hey listen let's go ahead and summarize that first half from your perspective as it relates to defense that pressure against tuskegee well i think our defense are playing lights out right now all week we pressed on the defense doing what they need to do for us stopping the run so our kids are respond responding we have three our conference players on our defense so they're finally stepping up this weekend making some plays and coach also isaiah brown stepped up tremendously you guys have had a lot of success this first half on the ground game talk a little bit about that and what has been the key to your success in the ground game for today yeah yes our offensive line is doing a good job up front mixed in with a couple of packages with our tight ends open the holes up for isaiah brown and uh dewey uh i think those guys are working real hard today we just got to finish down there in the red zone we scorned the two opportunities uh with field goals which we would like to get touchdowns so we got to go back to the board and uh drive it back down again hey hey coach tanitra tenetra has a question she'd like to ask you yeah coach brown we talked to you earlier this week about how effective your team has been on fourth down being able to convert four out of six times but this time you made the decision to go for the field goal just wanted to talk a little bit about that decision to go for it on fourth down to go for the field goal as opposed to going for it on fourth down you know the first one we went for i felt like it was the time to do it the ball slipped out of my holder's hand and the kicker didn't get any timing down and then the second one he just missed it so i feel like that was the right decision at the time and the moment in the game all points that you can get right now against a team that like tuskegon homecoming are good points oh to have to figure out how to get their defense off the field and they're going to have to figure out how to contain ike brown so if you had any uh advice uh keys in the second half for each team let's start with lane college yeah i'd start with lane being more aggressive they had opportunities especially being so effective on the ground to go with play-action passes at some critical points in the game that they did so i want to see them do some more aggressive play calling and it'll be interesting duane to see what we talked about off air if we're going to see a change under center for tuskegee never know what coach willie slater's going to do so what advice would you have for tuskegee as we come back to third quarter play i'd be interested to see are they going to stick with lu lewis williams are they going to go with bryson williams and really try to air it out now lewis williams got a 65-yard pass off just before halftime so that may be showing us that they're going to be a little more aggressive in the passing game in the second half but want to see them give an opportunity to either lewis williams or bryson williams to get their offense going all right here we go with our third quarter underway virgil young with it up to the 25 and let's see where they bounce him down as a gang of tuskegee golden tigers corrallo and that's the one place that tuskegee has been effective on defense just in terms of stopping lanes run when they do gang tackling they're able especially when lane tries to run it up the middle they've been successful in stopping them so there you go at number 12 michael huntley who got the start this afternoon this young man has come a long way folks he does it both on the field in the classroom and he's just man he's just gone through so much his high school coach tyron ross really really talks great about this kid virgil young with the first completion of the second half near side of the football field for completion and it's good enough for a first down and it's not just been about huntley but also about his receiving core coach byron brown talked a little bit about that earlier in the week how the wider super cohort they just know how to get open and get balls and really work with huntley and check that just short that's a second down carry by number 20 number 12 excuse me mike huntley on the quarterback keeper [Music] now duane here's where i want to see what coach brown is going to call on this first and 10 you've had the run set up the pass all day i want to see them take advantage of that first down and tim from the 40-yard line ike brown tries to elude a man but nothing doing he's going to be grasped and thrown to the ground by frederick austin number 99. he's a sophomore out of pritchard alabama as we get a look at that replay yeah this is the one place where lane college has not had success this entire afternoon that front four for tuskegee has really been waiting for that particular play every time and it brings up a second down no gain on that last play second down in 10 from the 40-yard line coach brown signaling in the offensive signals in his very first year taking over for derrick burroughs who is now the school's athletic director [Music] huntley will wisely toss that football out of bounds and bring up a third down and talking about derrick burrows who played professionally with the buffalo bills until a career ending neck injury he has gone through gone through some experience here lately tragically losing his son and so we definitely send out our condolences to the burroughs family thoughts and prayers are indeed with the burroughs family [Music] it's third down on 11 huntley waiting in the shotgun he claps his hands now he'll throw the football no now he'll step up in the pocket excuse me now scrambling to his left now he his hand and he looks as though he crosses midfield to get a first down as coach willie slater he kicks his leg in disgust and you see there where huntley wanted to toss that ball down the field but the opportunity just was there all those receivers were open nearly sacked there but he eludes the sack and he's able to get to the outside and move that ball just enough extends his hand to get that first down and that's a gain of 11 yards first down and 10 for lane college at the mid stripe sweeping is evelyn evelyn 50 45 down to the 42-yard line [Music] so this offense lane college they're continuing where they left off in the first half moving the football they just need to score omari skinner on that last tackle for tuskegee and again this is a familiar place that the dragons are finding themselves in a second and short or second and manageable so i want to see and i'm going to keep calling for it i want to see coach brown just try something aggressive on this play to break this game open because like you said the dragons have been moving the ball but the score doesn't show it second down we'll call it two after the eight yard carry and there's brown again and brown is going to be brought down by stewart as well as woodley apalon number 15. apalon is a terror leads the team in tackles has an interception this season has a forced fumble this season as well when one of his games 16 tackles against clark atlanta wow third down and two for michael huntley and this lane college tracking offense brown straight up the guard 25 20 13 10 5 touchdown oh my oh my just like that ike brown with the ground attack and now i hear whistles blowing what does that mean but if everything holds true that's going to be a 42-yard scamper by ike brown and he had nothing but daylight to nature yeah oh my goodness that the longest run play of the game so far and it's interesting because he got just enough of a block from his o-line to break open in that gap and just all the way to the end zone taking it to the house 42-yard rush that's the longest rush of the season for ike brown and his ninth touchdown on the season nonetheless it'll be first down in 10 for the tuskegee golden tigers and each of your questions answered coming out to begin their first possession of the third quarter is lewis williams and baby it was that impressive 65-yard toss although it was an incompletion it was still a beautiful toss just before halftime yes yes first down and 10 from the 20 williams calls his own number and he's going to be hog tied there and dragged to the ground by bryce mckenzie number 32 as well as jeffrey johnson yeah the dragons weren't fooled on that play they were waiting for it would just love to see that player after that play but ultimately that might be the way that the golden tigers are able to get something going on offense and looked at the bench and said i don't want to come out after that town high school he scored a real touchdown his third touchdown of the season today yeah amazing what he was able to do and really what lewis williams was able to do on that last drive you know for lane college it was about and it's been about moving the ball and moving the chains on the ground and in the air and that's how they've been able to get their 14 points a little bit of a different story line for tuskegee this afternoon tuskegee able to take advantage of lane miscues to keep this game tied arnez who's will kick the football off and it goes over virgil young's head for a touch back [Music] and that's where lane college will have their football first down and 10 from the 25-yard line michael huntley he's the quarterback he's come a long way to get to this position being a senior waited his turn he backed up mj in 2018 and he never looked at himself as a backup that's the key and coach coach brown describes him as a great kid a yes sir no sir kid he's a gamer and he's something special and coach brown has one of those embarrassment of rich's situations because he can go with michael huntley to reek mckenzie but he just goes with the guy with the hot hand and that's and they're moving the chains once again on a third down and two huntley calls his own number and he will skedaddle down to about the 40-yard line dwayne i like the play call there to keep the chains moving you just need two yards third and manageable so you give let huntley just keep it and get you on the other side of the field in tuskegee territory 11-yard run play first down and 10 from the tuskegee 40 they're setting up the screen but the screen man fell down they were trying to set that screen up they suckered the tuskegee defensive lineman into little cat and mouse with huntley but unfortunately the intended receiver fell to the turf coach firing brown calling in the signals he's also the offensive coordinator head coach in his first team triple wide receivers to the near side [Music] ground alone setback just off to the right fakes to brown huntley back in the pocket steps up under pursuit and he's going to be brought down number 44 jeremy dees was the first guy to hit him the junior out of evergreen alabama by way of kennesaw state and huntley just could not find his way all of his receivers are covered and he just couldn't find his way out of traffic right there and the tigers waiting to take him down no question about it and that's the second sack on the season for jeremy d's to go along with the forced fumble loss of one third and 11. huntley will look to the bench now put in his mouthpiece and he'll wait for the snap trip receivers again near side flare pass to young young he'll bowl over a man like he pulled over kobe mitchell number 18. is that who took the brunt of that blow and there is a penalty this could be a lowering the head penalty right there as he made a connection with kobe mitchell od offense number one ten-yard penalty third down so ben cole called that an offensive hole we mentioned kobe mitchell who earlier this year had a 55-yard touchdown interception touchdown return against clark atlanta university kobe mitchell is from mcdonough georgia and attended eagles landing christian academy not too far from either one of us there you have it [Music] i can get there about six minutes third down and a bit 16. huntley under pressure under siege he'll loft the football and he's got a man it's going to be complete evelyn anthony evelyn caught that football as we get a look at the replay and michael huntley with just enough of a scramble to get the ball down the field to anthony evelyn but i love that he had the presence of vine to stay in bounds on that play looks like he kept his feet and it looks like fourth and five now but i like that we're finally getting what looks like an aggressive play call from coach byron brown 11 yards up where are they 11 yards on that pass play to nietzsche will find out right here and there's a time out on the field lane college decides to talk about it and things are getting a little i'm not going to say i'm not going to say crucial yet still still third quarter two minutes and 37 seconds to play and really momentum is kind of going back and forth where tuskegee they're taking advantage of some some turnovers and some some you know shoddy special teams play yeah and that's what you want from your team if they can't produce anything on offense for themselves you want your defense to keep getting the ball back in your offenses hands giving them a short feel to be able to score now here lane has an interesting decision it's fourth and five i've said before that they've been efficient and very effective on fourth down conversions throughout the season so i want to see it'll be interesting to see if they go for it i think they should because still even with two minutes and 37 seconds left in the third quarter what you like is that they're so deep in tuskegee's territory that if they don't convert they could potentially get a three and out on the other side and get that ball right back well i gotta tell you if i'm byron brown i'm just gonna give more steady helpings of my of i brown i mean i'm just gonna give them the football and they might consider putting that offensive line in the backfield again because that was very effective in the first quarter of play putting him in that fullback position indeed was effective all right here we go huntly under pressure down to the 40 35 jukes a man and outstretches his arm he's close let's see will they mark it let's see where they'll mark this football [Music] he did it's a first down for lane college as we get a look at that replay and dwayne i like the call huntley sees it there's nobody down the field so he just takes off and he knows that he's getting close to the marker so he just extends himself on the play and he's able to move the chain smart kid smart move first down and 10 at the tuskegee 31-yard line for lane college they're moving left to right they're in a 14-14 dog fight with tuskegee homecoming weekend calls his own number up the middle 20 15 10 5 4 yard line 26 26-yard rush and more than anything on that play smart move by huntley to quickly pull that ball down take that ball right down the middle and steady helping of ike brown nearing the goal line but not quite there but you love that isaiah brown was able to keep the legs chugging and get closer and closer to that goal line on that first and goal tyler brown brought him down second and goal now from the three brown carries again right side dives in touchdown lane college and that has been the money call for the dragons the entire day get ike brown to bounce out to the outside and get the score i love the play call there we see it right there huntley passes it off to ike brown and he just goes right around for a couple yards and the score three-yard rushing play to go along with a 42-yard scoring play earlier in the third quarter he's got double-digit touchdowns on the season that's his 10th which leads the siac noah shaw's in for the extra point attempt gets out of the way it's up and it is through the uprise and with 53 seconds to play in the third quarter our score lane college 21 tuskegee 14. i can't reiterate it enough tanitra just more helpings of ikebra because at the end of the day they've not been able to stop him and if they're not able to stop him you might as well continue to go to the well and it's going to be critical in the fourth quarter as well we've got 53 seconds left in this third quarter but what you want to do is impose your will where it's been working that gets you the time of possession it keeps tuskegee's offense off the field and that's important too because they were getting a little bit of steam in that last draw on that last drive so again with just a minute left in this third quarter it's going to be critical these types of plays and being able to execute and keep your offense on the field for as long as possible their defense and what that's going to do to tuskegee in that fourth quarter and when you think about it tuskegee has scored all 14 of their points off of turnovers and coming into this game they scored 38 points off of their opposition's turnovers so add 14 to the fray today so that's 52 on the season and that's exactly what they did in their last win the shutout of course against central state the 29 nothing shut out they turned uh a turnover into seven points on the first possession and it was all over there so they're quite an opportunistic team let's see what they'll do on on this kickoff return that's hodges he feels it at the 15 and takes it up to the 33-yard line that's an 18-yard return for the senior wide receiver who has over a thousand yards and receptions on his career there you can look at him and hodges has had a good game so far he's one of the bright spots on offense and has been a good offense because after tuskegee found themselves in a third and 17 off the sack looked like they were out of field goal range and out of range of scoring but now they're still within four points of really taking this game taking it back i guess virgil young number 86 there you get a look at him he is the deep man for lane college surprised we haven't seen more anthony evelyn back deep this afternoon yeah been a quiet day on special teams for evelyn young is a redshirt freshman out of orlando florida oh there's evelyn right there to the right of our screen and that is going to be a penalty ladies and gentlemen so arnez huskich has kicked a couple of balls out of bounds out of bounds kicking team ball replaced at the 35 yard line his first down lane kick out of bounds this season as you fear the penalty by ben cole the third and in a situation where you really want to back lane college up as much as you can so that maybe on your next drive you might be able to take your first lead of the game you don't want to give them an even shorter field to work with especially not ike brown michael huntley will leave the offense out first and 10 from their own 35 let's see if they'll go to the ground attack to try to chew up some of this clock 7 55 to play they'll give it to number five first carry for ryan whitaker number five he'll spin out of a tackle and gets up close to a first down so ryan whitaker making his entry quite impressive yeah so it looks like the dragons are doing this running back by committee but it's working if it works don't don't fix it and there he today that's if it stands there's a fumble in recovery by the defense first down lane what a tough blow to win because you look at that play and in that moment you see lewis williams trying to figure out what to do and he decides to become a runner and when you become a runner then the defense is going to attack you as such when you're out of the pocket and look it's all about it's it's tackling recoveries to add an interception today to go along with that so he in my opinion he's going to be a candidate for defensive player of the week in the siac he could potentially be that person or it could be bryce mckenzie with a couple sacks today and that you know you look at what they've been able to do really both of these defenses have played a stellar game today and kept this game as tight as it's been down the stretch but it's really come down once again to miss cues once again to miss cube not only miscues those turnovers and so far lane college has the advantage but you can't say anything enough by mr mckenzie second on the team in tackles he came over the fumble recovery today interception earlier he's just doing it on cylinders today so much credit goes to him and doing it at critical junctures in the game we talked about the fact that there were just a few minutes left on the clock and which team was going to be able to potentially salt this game away and it looks like mckenzie put his team in position to salt this game away and get this critical win today so what we can look forward to what she's saying is more carries by number 24 ike brown yeah that's what that down from the official's vantage point nonetheless one minute and 10 seconds to play due still in the backfield huntley quarterback keeper will fall to the ground to kill the clock cross will tie him up but under a minute to play [Music] and there you see the differential on the play clock a 15 second differential so two more plays and this will be a wrap brown clashed his hands confidently that play clock moving 18-17 now they're in victory formation ten nine eight seconds left on the play clock he'll snap it around two seconds there's the snap he'll down it and that should be that and there's a dose of reality for byron brown a dose of water to go along with it as the lane college [Music] dragons come into tuskegee and spoil homecoming with a final score lane college 21 tuskegee 17. well well well denisha what a surprise is lane college and they bring that that that boastful offensive attack averaging 34 points a game they don't get to the 34 point mark but they make their point so to speak coming away with a victory yeah and today they didn't need to get to the 30-point mark 21 was more than enough to beat tuskegee because it was all about time of possession so just taking advantage of the opportunity to keep your offense on the field while keeping tuskegee's defense on the field and really just wearing them down with that ground game thanks to ike brown and ike brown had a couple of touchdowns on the afternoon he had a big 42-yard scamper to put his team up and then he followed that one up the next series later with the three-yard touchdown so all in all getting it done and how about quarterback micah huntley today yeah michael huntley quietly your offensive player of the week for the siac for his performance last week turns around and has another great performance even with a quiet day from anthony evelyn whom we talked about pregame but a monster day from grigsby that seemed to be his favorite target today and they really made a lot of great things happen in that first half and really set some things in motion in the third quarter as well where you sort of felt that momentum that lane got and never really relinquished thanks to that huntley and grigsby combination special teams came into play and fortunately for tuskegee they were able to take advantage of a couple of opportunities antonio keenan jr with an 84-yard uh return of a of a field goal block and man if it wasn't for those turnovers who knows what would have happened today for tuskegee including that field goal that after a key sack from the lane defense late in the game tuskegee was able to at least get a field goal and keep it close and speaking of quotes let's get close right now with head coach byron brown with lane college coach first of all congratulations on the victory yes sir thank you i appreciate it i know we talked earlier in the week and you talked about your quarterback michael huntley and how stoic he was and how poises was let's sum up his play today well mike played big for us so he probably picked up four first downs this game on his feet and we appreciate uh you know in our system we need a quarterback that can pick up first down from their feet when everything breaks down and mike huntley is truly the guy for the job and he showed it today he's playing lights out like i told you early week i got two quarterbacks that can start for us at the end of the day but mike has taken the thing by the horn and he can compete with the best in the country and the dragons really dominated this game with time of possession coach brown you guys kept your offense on the game on the field for just about the entire game and really you could see that coming through in the later portions of the game where you sort of saw the golden tigers defense wear down how important was it for you all to dominate and really really make a statement in the trenches well well we've been on our offensive line now running back isaiah ryan and duke about picking up more yards in the run game and we spent more time in the run game this week hitting the sled we had our guys doing push-ups all week and uh it was it was consistent every day on what we did so we put a lot more time into the run game this week than we usually do well congratulations coach huge victory in the conference in the standings and i know that you're ecstatic about
