[Music] hi my friend it's patone here okay first day of summer and I had to wear had to wear my I call it my Riviera shirt it's got scenery on it I think I got this about six years ago at Chico I think it was Chico And so it's got the print all but I think of the Riviera and I think it's summer and it's look it's got Navy and white stripe accents I love it I also am trying out some sort of linen loose linen pants okay honestly they make you look dumpy okay suppos supposedly these loose pants are supposed to be like stylish but I always feel dumpy in them but in the summer it is hot and I can't wear leggings and the jeans are also not so comfortable I don't have lightweight jeans and so I thought okay I'm going to try a pair these are I'll link you to them they're from Amazon they're an extra large on me and you know I think they're a little too big so I'm going it's a size it was the size they said so I'm going to order a pair of large and see how they are they're linen and cotton which means they'll look like I slept in them right away but that but they're very comfortable they're really comfortable and they're loose so they're not too hot these ones if if the large fits better I'll use these to walk in in the morning when it's so hot uh cuz even though we walk early like after the morning chat after the morning video goes we have breakfast and we walk and it's still pretty warm by that time here in Virginia in the summer so okay so that's that's it for Su and it's summer summer today summer tomorrow is seashell day so if you have a quilt with sea seashells on it let's see them there are lots and lots of beach quilts seashell Fabrics Beach Fabrics so uh it'll be a lot of fun to see all of those and then Saturday is Pink Flamingo Day the beautiful who cannot love a big pink bird gorgeous they're gorgeous so let's take a look at mine and we'll look at my butterfly quilt at the same time in celebration of flamingo day this weekend this coming weekend there is mine made by pegar for me uh she made the center and then I quilted it with the wave Stitch and then I wanted to show you that oh got the butterfly up doesn't that look great so I can see it as I'm going up and down the stairs love it love it it's just that's about as big as I can have anything as long you see it's right at the edge there I always love when I can get something up on that hallway wall That's sort of a big imp pack that I get to uh enjoy that one's it's it's at its Max limit I can't get anything much larger than that if it's that wide if it weren't quite as wide I can do something a little bit longer okay I have a challenge for today and it's an easy one because I know sometimes for me maybe a lot of you if somebody sort of issues a little bit of a challenge they're like okay that doesn't seem so bad I can do that it's like assigning you a task so I going to issue a label making challenge because if we have label some labels made already or even the parts of the labels all together and made then when we finish our quilt and we get ready to put it on it isn't like a whole another big step you just kind of go to your you know box or whatever where you have the label stuff so let me just show you mine my Label Box I happen to use this tin which I've shown you actually recently it was a Milky we tin from what 1997 which a lot of you also have it if you've been quilting that long that goes over there so if you have not accumulated all of your stuff for label label making into one place do that at a minimum do that get your pens if you have a different kind of pens there's all different kinds I use if you have some pre-made labels these are always fun to be using uh see we' get get the these different Wes they're Stitch with love I like that one look how cute that is I'll link you to labels there's just all kinds of fun ones if you like to use those you might have some panels of labels like this and this one I think is still available it's a really good panel so it's got all kinds of different label so you can just use this as your label so fun right guys needle work uh then I like to do a lot of triangle labels so basically I have a stack here so you can see I have this stack and I just take a square just a square and fold it in half and then this goes in the corner of the quilt uh and then I just have to hand Stitch that side down and so they're very simple if I've got some of these made all I have to do is go come to this tin pull one of these out get my pen and write I have over time collected some funky ones different places this took me forever handmade and stitched specifically for you so I've got all of these as well that that are all all in here and then a few kind of fun like here was one done on the embroidery machine and so I can actually write in the middle for the label yeah those those are all in here some more tags so that's what I challenge you to do if you do not have a tin with everything or a box or don't use a bag it you know it needs to be like a solid more solid side on it but get everything together and then that way when you're ready to make your label you have either some pan you could cut these out that's the one thing I think I might do is I might go ahead and cut some of the these out so that I don't have to do that either they're already cut out I just pick it up and use it uh and then the pens are there so you don't have to go hunting around where's your pen you know that kind of a thing okay so that is your challenge I think challenges are good okay we're going to do now is just take a spin around the studio here and look at some things because first of all first of all one thing I did is the other day when I was putting stuff away and I have one one basket one one of those blue containers called uh uh patterns patterns patterns are things that someday I thought this would be fun to make whether we would make it together I would make it myself and you join if you like or whatever and so I started writing a bunch of stuff down and then I had to go to the backside and this isn't all of them these are things that I would like to make someday which is you know insane insane insane insane yeah 800 items but so I have to put these in my computer so that I can deal with them a little bit better I can sort them I can put them in a table I can then decide do I really want to make these or not make these so I would love to know do you have sort of a working list of projects you want to do do you kind of just you know do what shows up as a you know either I'm doing and you're like hey that would be fun or something happens and you see something you're like oh I want to make that now I mean there's all different ways to approach things I do them all I do you know but of course because I'm doing videos and because I've been am a business I'm always sort of have organized things but that doesn't mean I'm not a real quilter I'm a real quilter and I see other stuff and I'm like oh o o o that will be fun I want to make that that's cute I want to make that and I I can't make it all I know I can't but so that means I need to uh sort of have a little plan someday someday someday it may not be today probably not today but some I started that little list and I thought you know I need to put that in the computer and think think about it uh the other thing that I I found I find it's been sitting over there so it's not like hidden do you remember when I did all these blocks so I had a bunch of half Square triangles and I thought I'm just going to make these Shoe Fly blocks and then with these you know cutaways and stuff and make them all the same size and then make a quilt with this you know so this is kind of like one of those things I would normally the these blocks I would sew as I'm doing other things so now I have like this huge stack and I thought okay well let's just put them up on the wall did this the other day so let's take a look so there's a piece of Paradise Park in light blue now the thing is this is Navy and really turquoise in there so I'm thinking the light I like the light blue but I'm thinking something either in a different blue or a turquoise but I was thinking blue so I went and got I have this so I'm going and actually this is a neat strip it's a strip see so I am going to place it up there and then put the blocks over top of it and let's see how that looks it's not as dark I could do this but this is really dark and maybe I'll just use it for a border you know and the I and binding I don't know so okay let me try this ooh ah I like that I like it so cool wow okay so these are 6in blocks which means I have to I will sew these on the diagonal I'm going to tilt you so that you can see like this is the first row second row third row fourth row you so the rows on a diagonal if you've not done uh blocks on point before that's how it works and then when you rotate they look absolutely fantastic ah so I do have to make this one uh you know I'm hoping it feels a little long and skinny but I think it's fine because otherwise what do I got one 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 by 1 2 3 4 5 5 by seven I think that's good and then I'll do like a little inner border maybe of this and then maybe I'll do another little smaller border of the Navy so the blue and then bring the Navy out that that might look nice yeah okay all right I got a plan so I like the plan I like the plan of putting these together is that is that on this list now this is where the Dilemma comes in this is where the this is for me where the Dilemma comes in okay I've made these it would be really cute it probably be a great charity piece but it's not one of the things like I have to stop and think is it one of the things I really really want to make do I really really want to spend the rest spend time on these I did them because I didn't have another project on the go like like like the well this is okay I'm just going to cut this out here so like these I didn't have the this the like one of these projects with the Checker boards I didn't have one of those on the go I didn't have something like this on the go already um or like the Liberty Box there wasn't something where I had pieces ready to go so I made I made these and I made quite a stack of them so now I'm thinking I might see if one of the charity groups wants to take the blocks and they can they can work with them or I'll just keep the blocks for a while but I'm not going to make it a priority project that's how I have to think through things and I you know we can get quite excited about building something and then thinking oh we just put that together but the time that it takes is it this where you want to spend your time or would you rather spend your time doing your Liberty box or would I personally like to spend my time making this instead of sewing these together uh and I am going to vote for this and not this so that means I have this stack and I'll probably put it with all those crumb blocks that I made a couple years back because I still have all of those that I've not done anything with and there's quite a quite a lot of blocks maybe they'll all maybe they'll all go in some sort of big bin for someday um or you know do as a giveaway I don't know I'm just sort of mulling things over but it's where I think we get caught up as makers and getting excited about something all of a sudden we've sort of created a project for ourselves that wasn't on our schedule and now we'll take time that we would probably rather use that time to do another thing that this isn't really that high a priority or that interesting even to do and maybe it is for you maybe you make did this and this is like number one thing it's feeding all your creative boxes and you're like yeah I'm I'm on fire I want to do it but um for me it's not for me it's not so that's a kind of a revelation of trying to stop myself from sort of falling into the rabbit hole it happens it happens okay speaking of what do I really want to work on and I have that goal of all the bindings oh before that I got this sewn the top row of our block Wednesday there we go look look at this okay so that's done yay yay I'm so excited so I got that done and I have my next quilt for binding which that is a higher priority than those scrap blocks that I did so I've got will you be my neighbor whoops oh there's oh look at that that fell out okay hold on okay so here's will be my neighbor and I have it's backed with my Harmony wide Back in Black and White and this was quilted quite a while ago I think I don't know if Cindy did this one I don't know who did this one um may have been Judy quite a while ago but just I I looked for I looked in the bin for my bindings and I did find I did find this in there but it's not enough for binding and now what fell out of here The Binding I had not opened it up and look at this a label speaking of label day I put the label in there it was folded inside here I hadn't opened it up lately okay so I'm good so that is next because I have to make I have to bind probably at least one a week in order to make the end of August yeah and some of them are small so those when I get towards the smaller ones I can probably do two in a week and I'll probably be motivated Because by the time I get the small ones I'm I'm getting done done done done so I'm excited about that well I have the barn star out on the clothes line so let's go take a look here it is the barn star star it is big it is queen size it'll hang over the edge of my bed and off the foot of the bed you can see that I didn't need to add as much border little border just on the top and bottom I have a little bit more on the sides so the quilting you can see it really well on this particular block here and that geometric you it really is super cool it enhances it so much there you can see it but this was been so this was so fun to do so fun to pick all the colors I started with one fabric bundle we did this last year as a block of the month uh well blocks blocks of the month any of these large barn stars would be so pretty as a like a door a door quilt or a table topper now the backing I did all one fabric I was able to purchase from the fabric line this is uh the sort of main bundle was this Leela Boutique fabric line and then can you see the quilting not as good on there because it's got so much pattern you can see the diagonals let's guide diagonals both ways which is just really effective for this sampler ah there we go there we go but then to make this more Scrappy I added in a lot of different different backgrounds so you can see some are white white many of them are off-white and then The Gingham this uh or gingham here that just was used quite a few places and bringing it all around the quilt so you have gingham in all kinds of places and it brings your eye around and I think it just ties everything together super well okay so this is going to go on my bed after it comes off of here and the Ants get choke off there's lots of ants in the ground right now it is really really great to have that done now like I said I need pillow shams and I'll have to think about making that but it's nice it's so nice to get done now I'm thinking about I might need to run it through the dryer just to get any ants off I'm pretty sure there's no ants on it I don't think I'm upstairs okay the other thing is I thought I would like to get one of the rolling a new rolling cart but a tiny one okay so this is what I ordered so I ordered this one and it's it's it's much smaller uh which is super cool because let me just move move this here can you see over there yeah so this can actually go right under here like that and it actually can push back even even further I have my only floor vent in this room is under there so I cannot block it to too much because I'll get no air flow and I know there are like ducts and different things you can do but I've got Cabinetry all the way over to my desk and so I would have to be running duct work under a Cabinetry where there's no space under it so there really is not a good way to do that um but this guy is a little bit smaller than your regular uh rolling carts he's a little bit lighter weight but I thought this was great this was great and it also kind of fits over at by my desk on the side and so I'm thinking I might end up with it over there even on the back side I don't know I just got it in so we'll see we will see okay so last thing let's see yeah do we want to do this yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah okay let me tell you two let me tell you two things see if we can fit this in tell you tell you one thing then so the uh I gave away 10 more quilts to charity they go they went to the um Church of the Brethren and if you're familiar with Church of the Brethren which is a huge organization and all of these uh churches run disaster re uh relief auctions they run a big big auction every year and last year uh some of my quilts went to them Finnish quilts that they used in the auction the auction is in the spring I believe the group of ladies that we connected with are associated with the team that's U providing quilts and they like to take several quilts and hand quilt them so they have maybe two to four hand quilted pieces that are up for auction but they also will machine quilt my tops and put those up for auction in in the auction this big auction which has all kinds of things it's not just quilts it's like they're just doing quilts and it's this once a year thing so I'm super excited to connect with these ladies and this team um uh uh they they really love to hand quilt that's the one thing that they in particular are passionate about the women that I met are the hand Quilters they are some of the people who are doing the hand quilting and so they uh they were just really fun to talk to and learn about what and they've been with the organization for a long time uh so I am thrilled that that I could do that so I sent them 10 pieces they they came down they met me and uh seven of the pieces were tops so a lot of my tops now if they have a little bit more to them or sort of like for a nice auction I will be giving it to them instead of paying to have them quilted uh and then they can use them they can put some fancy quilting on them and make them kind of like Elevate them a bit to use uh for This Disaster Relief auction um and when they start coming up next year um I'll know about it I'll let you know I don't know if they have bidding for it um online or anything or call in I don't know I don't know what their biddings are but I'll let you know about it so that'll be super cool so they will be quilting some of the pieces and then three of the pieces where once that were're already done okay that that is it that is it I will be starting to work on this uh the Liberty Box I will start to work on the Liberty box so I have gotten some Fabrics some extra Fabrics to use because I need to you know do that one section from the stuff Liberty Box you so I've got these Blues to look at and I'll I'll I'll be sorting through that and I'll talk about it on um next week next week on one of the videos so I can get kind of get get it rolling and as I'm doing that I will I will tape it you know so you can see the process and what I'm thinking about because it's a super fast I think it's a super fast make uh which is so fun so we can get it done all right I will have uh a an extra day uh before the next video so the next video is on Tuesday next week and we will wrap up the Halloween then yes so excited so I love you thank you for being here in the SLO Zone I will see you online [Music] ch
