KTM 890 Adventure R - THE MOUNTAIN MEN - A Slovenian Hard Adventure!

uh this is pretty cool i'm halfway up a mountain somewhere in austria about 10 k's i think from the slovenian border the reason i'm here is three years ago at the bosnian kdm rally i met a slovenian guy and he basically said if you're ever in slovenia hook up apparently there's a bit of a crew there that follow what i do on youtube it's not something i ever thought i'd do but here i am about to meet a bunch of my subscribers and go adventure bike riding with them so this is going to be interesting andre we made it everybody made it huh yes it looks like leon andre another one danny nice to meet you man thomas all right we will ride yeah luca i've met you already at the rally i remember you i'll never forget the face yanny nice to meet you man mike bless you've probably never heard of slovenia or know anything about a country which was once part of yugoslavia before it was collapsed by the cold war and broken up into the balkans albania bosnia bulgaria croatia kosovo montenegro macedonia romania serbia and slovenia a people whose culture has climbed out of a dark past a culture who've had to fight for their own identity in a way most of us will never know the strange irony for me is the influence i've had over some of these people i'm that i am in blood for 22 years and more than 15 bikes in general i am a mythology fan from 10 years back with big adventures and this story that he did with toby price and other australian enduro riders i'm clement i'm 35 adam's movie like earth movers got me to bought to buy a 501 husky when i sell the bike i i bought 790 the adventure spirit in the mythology movies that addicted us it's awesome [Music] some history yeah here you have seven thousand dead italian soldiers wow during the first world war there was uh from this hill to this hill they were fighting wow river was uh there's a museum also yeah you fix the electronics yeah you see yeah no problem thank you good job we need to see that we practice on our street you know i said that he needs to do really for us and he did these boys know the ktm adventure models inside out so they've taken the liberty to set up my 890rs engine map throttle response traction control and abs basically changing it from a street bike to a dirt bike in preparation for tomorrow's heart adventure and just as well because this is my first taste of off-road with the 890r dinner at the local then back to andre's place for the night for day two the boys cut the group back to seven riders only including our lead man thomas on the ktm 690r and so our slovenian heart adventure begins yep time to let samir out we didn't have a tire gauge but dropping pressure and squeezing the tyres by hand made all the difference [Music] [Music] it's obvious these boys are in their element and their enduro experience is shining through pushing these big bikes through such challenging terrain you can go around let's try it [Music] my name is tomasz i have a lot of bikes at home so i'm riding some of gas gas 350s i also have gas guys 300 but today i choose 690. many years ago watching all the mythology movies with adam and all the australian stars and so on and now like it's a dream come true to finally ride with somebody which you normally just admire over the internet and over the youtubes [Music] [Music] yeah because of the snow you need the snaps to survive yeah yeah yeah it keeps you warm all day but you know they all say it's as better as the morning is the better the days yeah so you start you start at the morning you hit the schnapps in the morning in the morning before tooth brush and coffee and everything first snot schnapps nor anything yes that's how life begins in slovenia most every day hi my name is jani obviously i'm from slovenia i write d7 that's why also my favorite mythology film is the dark horse it's interesting how these guys connect in bosnia so now we have adam here and let's show him a bit more it's great [Music] it slowly dawned on me that we are in fact riding through the middle of bear country and judging by the scale of these life-sized carvings i really don't ever want to meet one cheese what is this cheese yes like rice fried in the oil yeah of course cut it cut it cut it out you see all right let's have this that's amazing because in the mountains on the box you need this you need the fat welcome roman they say you are the true slovenian adventure writer i don't know i've been called names but i don't know what's true hello my name is roman bale i'm from slovenia yeah i saw i follow adam since he went to egypt no moto nomad trip on 500 xc so this time he came to slovenia which is which is nice to have him to to ride with him he managed to sort out quite a quite a good number of riders very experienced guys on big bikes this is my life this is your life where have you been i was at home family dinner eating the whole day and you stole somebody's bike yeah not mine again but yeah this this thing is a beast this is the real deal this is the real deal this is for real man only tomorrow yeah we will find out yeah we can only hope to be perceived as the real deal i am not toby price i'm just a guy who makes dirt bike videos on youtube but to be worthy of riding among these mountain men it's like there's an unwritten rule a subtle expectation that i must be authenticated before them not by being the media guy at the events or the racer in competition but by holding my own at their table until the late hours sleeping on their couch and then hitting a few obstacles at their enduro cost track first thing i think the boys are satisfied and i'm free to continue among them an honor and a pleasure which they probably don't realize mean so much to me as an australian who showed up at their border hello i'm luka kutner coming from this beautiful slovenia my friends called me and said that adam is coming to slovenia and i was immediately like i'm a big fan of him for a long time right now i only own the essex f-450 for motocross riding and also 300 exg so yeah i had to call my friend he gave me this beast for these two three awesome days of riding with adam and yeah just enjoying life watching learning from the best guy adam and the mythology movies they infected us with with this this time adam came to slovenia to to explore to find some unique some unexplored moments tracks i don't know he's kind of a in the pursuit of finding the hard mountain man on big bikes and he's trying to figure out who who would that be but maybe that's not just one person it's a [Music] group of people or a spirit some kind of a subculture some kind of a rare breed that doesn't have the need to be exposed or you know it's just for the adventure in its purest form it's been perfect why because we are riding we are having a good conversation and you're a good guy and this is it danny you must leave us it's been the best really yes it's my pleasure to drive with you very nice my spirit of adventure brought me to slovenia to meet strangers and because of motorcycle they're now my friends so in this moment is like having a dream he is here in slovenia we are riding together i couldn't ride with him in bosnia so i'm really happy because like i told him mountain came to muhammad [Applause]
