KONMARI GARAGE DECLUTTER 2020

hey everyone welcome to another video i'm excited to tackle this project but i'm dreading it as well because our garage has gotten out of hand and we need to take care of it so let me show you what we're working with here we're going to get started in konmari this whole thing take everything out of the garage go through it all put it in bins we bought 12 new storage totes to use and finally get this under control you look so beautiful [Music] all right we have a one car garage and you can barely walk through it right now we did back in january of 2019 we did a big con marie clean out but we tried to kind of just use the storage bins that we had the shelving that we had and it just didn't work out so we are redoing it the right way this time um tons of yard tools i'm not even gonna go through all of this you can just see that it's a disaster i mean goodness this is gonna take a while it is seven o'clock in the morning because it's supposed to be a hundred degrees today and we aren't messing around with that the only thing organized are these storage totes so let's get started [Music] you don't get out what you're putting in all your hopes are never who will pick you up when you've lost everything does it all become for granted different things in different ways [Music] [Music] i was just a little girl when my mama used to say happiness requires work every day don't let them tell you what you feel or who you are in different ways has got to come my way [Music] i give it all to you there must be another way and there must be conscious different things in different ways faith has got to come my way i've got to come my way [Music] one two one [Music] spend my coin [Music] i just wanna feel alive it's just what i do when i'm out so trying not to hold me look at down beautiful stars i wanna drive a faster car nothing can break me no no nothing can break me try not to hold me down nothing can break me no no nothing can break me look at beautiful stars i want to drive a faster car lay my troubles blow the smoke [Music] no one's stopping me okay oh that was awesome i can't believe you did it you got soaked all right we've gotten almost everything out we're just going to leave the shelves in here and move them because they're easy to move to sweep and i'm going to vacuum like all of the nasty cobwebs and stuff as well i know that they're just going to come back but at least it'll be clean for a little bit um we are leaving the stuff that's on the wall that's like hanging because we're keeping all of that and it would just go right back up anyways and then the stuff up top this is all either empty boxes or really lightweight stuff same thing with over here um and we there's not much up there and we know we are keeping all that so we are leaving that and then we're also leaving the shoe rack because that's pretty much already cleaned out so this is what we have inside let's show you outside so i've tried to organize it this is like yard stuff and some tools are in there this whole pile of stuff that i need to go through that's either gonna be gifted or sold to someone so i need to go through this whole pile everything you see in the frame right now and then over here we just have more like garage equipment um stuff we know we're keeping and then this whole pile pretty much everything in the frame here is stuff i need to go through it's like not organized and so there's a mismatch of random stuff in each of the boxes and then over here we have like our yard tools shampooer shop vac stuff like that winter stuff is here um this is like random decorations that weren't in a tote um the tote itself has off holiday decorations like the smaller holidays like valentine's and easter and stuff like that so i just need to kind of add to it this pile is party decor stuff and like party bags and then we have sports equipment in this pile we have a garbage pile over here and then bikes the girls bikes and then this is like chairs and camping equipment here and then this whole pile is baby and kids stuff so strollers and hiking carriers and clothes um all kinds of kid and baby stuff over here we have my photography equipment and like things i use for props and stuff like that um our board games are in these two bins which they're gonna be on the shelf i'm just gonna go through them because we don't play half of them so i'm gonna go through them and get rid of some and then we have all of our totes that we already have organized from the last time are right here so these are already labeled they're already organized and gone through we know we're keeping everything in them this is the shelving system that doesn't fit in our current house but we love it so much that we're keeping it and just storing it until we find our forever home and then here are the totes and we actually have six more of these clear ones that we have to get out of the box they're still in the box that they came in we have six more of these clear ones and then we have all of these as well so hopefully with these we'll be able to organize all of that it's just what i do when i'm out so try not to hold me down [Music] nothing can break me wrong with when i start cause you look better in the dark oh counting days i made it through without someone like you we're running out of light time is changing day to night and you keep asking why i'm out of control my body and my soul don't wanna be whole [Music] for you i'm just unknown and you're not that someone who will find my heart and bring peace to my mind to move on because i will find the way on my own now life is happening and i don't wanna miss a thing letting go it's not a sin oh counting days is changing day to night [Music] for you all right you guys i am exhausted it is 9 15 p.m right now we've been at this for almost 14 hours and whoo today was 100 degrees river was struggling all day long so we had to go so slowly because i had to keep cluster feeding him he's going through his second developmental leap right now so it was just bad timing but the only day we could really have free to do this so we just had to get it done but i'm not done yet so he's finally asleep in bed upstairs comfortable and i've got the monitor down here anthony's giving the girls a shower to get them to bed um and i feel like i still have hours of work left to do so if i can get to bed before like midnight or one i will be thrilled so let's show you the progress so far and then keep going so this is gonna look bad but we had to bring a bunch of stuff in because it's dark out as you can see at the top of the screen there um and anthony's upstairs so we kind of just wanted everything closer to the house but this is the pile of kids stuff that i need to go through and organize um these these are all just empty bins that i have to use to organize all of that stuff this and then there's just kind of random stuff so these few boxes there's a lot of party stuff there so that already has a tote which is nice um we have kind of some bigger things that don't really fit in totes there so i have to find homes for that stuff this laundry hamper right here i'm gonna give away because um we have like so many we don't need it and it leans so i'm just gonna give that one away and then i have some decor here that needs to be labeled and go up on the shelving unit over there with all of the other decor and then this is all that's left outside so it is we have this um like yard kind of chemicals i guess you can say on this shelf and then this has some like yard and car stuff and then this is the give and donate pile and cell pile but i do need to go through it and separate out what we are giving away and what we are selling so it's all right here and that's all that's left outside so it looks like a lot still and i'm very overwhelmed mainly because i'm tired but it's definitely looking way way way way better than it did before oh i don't wanna be running from there [Music] oh you keep saying fine but i'm not in line no no not this time cause i will find the way on my own [Music] move [Music] all right it's two and a half weeks later i had to kind of shift gears a little bit and get ready for camping which was much easier to do because we had the garage halfway done already and all the camping stuff already organized so that was nice then we went camping it rained on us for two days check out that vlog when you're done with this if you haven't seen that but um then when we got back we had to set everything up to let it all air dry so it didn't get moldy and take care of all that so it has been two and a half weeks since we started this project and today i'm going to try to finish it on my own because it's a thursday anthony's at work and so i'm not sure how this is gonna go with three kids one being two months old but hopefully he'll sleep well today and i will be able to make it happen i've got my bachelor the greatest of all time show ready to go i made myself a chit and i am just going to get started and do as much as i can it's 8 20 right now i woke up at six which if you know me is crazy um there's a video i did like a week of waking up at six when i normally get up at nine um but it feels really good so i was able to get anthony's breakfast get my breakfast send him off to work take a shower get ready i'm going to let my hair air dry is why it's still wet but it feels good to kind of have all that done before the kids are awake so i need to try to continue that trend as much of a non-morning person that i am but we're gonna get started on this until they wake up and i'll get the girls breakfast and then keep going and hopefully river stays asleep usually wakes up between like nine and ten so hopefully i'll have at least another hour to do this [Music] i've never really been the one who's worried always been the one who's keeping it cool [Music] the kind of guy you chill while others hurry i didn't know that i've been the fool i've been telling lies about something real but i know love is based on honesty [Music] all right we've got river with us now he lasted an hour after i started filming last and then he was awake so he's gonna join us hi buddy river and the girls are awake as well they're just in the living room playing right inside here so i probably have like 20 minutes before he needs to go down for a nap so i'm gonna take advantage of every minute i was made to be free [Music] [Applause] i am made to be free i am made to be free [Music] be thinking about myself and myself only i've been like that since i was a kid i've always put my feet wherever i want to before i saw [Music] [Music] was asking how we [Music] knowing that it's not just you it's me cause i was made to be free i am made to be free [Music] i am made to be free [Music] well i am made to be free that's my choice what i need to be free still thinking how we love when i know that it's not about you just me cause i was made to be free [Music] cause i was made to be free cause i was made to be free [Music] once again i am still working and it's dark out it's 11 p.m but this is all i have left so this is kind of our like yard supplies and tool shelf um and then the stuff that's down here in the box is in that category and then the bins that you see next to it are all empty that i can use for organizing this stuff so hopefully this takes me about 15 minutes or so and then we'll show you the final product hello how'd you do i'm not broken up just split into hope you're fine ain't got time to do everything you said you would frames of the past and the memory of you just come running by pictures of sunny days [Music] how could they say i was broken how could they say you made me come undone now i know that it's okay [Music] all right 11 23 and it's time to reveal the final product and i feel so much better it's just like a load of stress off my shoulders um i've got a mess to clean up inside of all the stuff i threw in there that i need to put away but the garage is done and it's done in the right way so we'll be able to kind of keep everything like it is everything has a place everything has labels oh my organizing heart is happy so let's show you the final product just to quickly remind you here's the back in before and here is the after so i'll just take you through and kind of go through everything starting from this corner um this is our lawn and garden tools corner here so all of our yard tools we were just gifted that spreader and then those jeans and that slow cooker i'm actually going to be selling so that is there we got that um organizer that holds the tools that made such a big difference so that was a great idea for sure and then on this shelf there's some stuff that's not on shelves just because we didn't have quite enough room but it's okay because it all fits so down there we have our tent um and our like canopy thing that goes over picnic tables we have our wagon and camping bins so this is kind of all camping stuff right here on these top or bottom two shelves excuse me and then air mattresses are in here and we have paint stuff there's another paint tote also in a different spot you'll see in a minute but it won't fit side by side here so it bugs me that they're not together but it is what it is and then this is stuff for camping and fishing and stuff that didn't really fit into a tote so that stuff is there then at the top we have rivers pack and play with all the attachments that goes with it so that is that shelf we have this uh tall i think it's actually for wrapping paper but we just keep like these little poles um in the sticks i used to make signs for the girls birthday parties and put them up so we just hold on to those so i don't have to buy them every year basically and then down here we have that tote in the back is full of gift bags and tissue paper so we never have to buy any of that um bubbles in our bocce ball set and then birthday party stuff in that bin kid stuff in here they're rollerblades and bubbles and toys and stuff like that sports stuff in here um and then jbf if you haven't been to our channel um every six months we do the just between friends consignment sales so that's where the jbf comes from and this whole two shelves plus bin up there is all jbf stuff so in the blue bins this is stuff that we want to sell at the next sale next month that has not been tagged yet or entered into the system then this and this that's all stuff that's already tagged and ready to go i literally just have to pull it down and bring it in when it's the time to do that and then up there are hangers for clothes we have like the pants hangers and the regular hangers and then like the ones that you can put outfits on from like stores and stuff we kind of hold on to those and get some more each sail so that's that stuff over here we just have this like yard edging that we didn't use all of and then our two um keg taps that we're going to be holding on to because we're going to have a use for them soon which we can't tell you guys about right now but we will in time up here on this top shelf chocolate fountain and the fish bowl vases i use a lot for um birthday party games with like ping pong balls and stuff and then that's an empty box for the girls microscope anthony's empty box like case for transporting his playstation and then these are that's our empty tv box there a christmas tree there and then an empty auto heart box for the girls auto harp so it's all lightweight stuff up there because that shelf is not super super strong and then on this shelf on the top here we have some baby stuff the sit me up the shopping cart cover the booster seat and the bottle drying rack we have one of the kind of grass looking ones right now that works fine and i'm sure we're gonna need to switch to the two-tier one that's in here when we have more like food um solid like food more baby food containers and stuff because i'll be making his baby food we have our extension cords in there this is kind of the tv xbox cords playstation 3 games kind of the electronic type stuff and then this has um our snow boots snowboarding boots ice skates and my roller blades are in there as well just to kind of keep them contained right here we have christmas books christmas like paper stationery to print our christmas letters on we have a few gift bags and cards we keep all the picture cards that people send to us and then we hang them up every year our seahawks football that our friend amber made for us which we're going to be hanging up soon because it's almost seahawks well football season for us it's more like seahawks season and then we have kind of some random stuff here that didn't really have a place i can't really put it in a bin because it's like the only thing in its category but behind it is all memory stuff and then like pictures mainly and then we have a memory bin here as well um i'll just ignore this stuff right here i haven't brought that in yet but down here we have two uh totes that have rivers clothes in it and these are all six month plus he's currently still in newborns at two months old um he does fit in some zero to three but we're always off for six months yet so those are still in here and then down here i have keepsake clothes from when the girls were little a couple little like that green bin has chalk and markers and stuff in it for this chalkboard thing that's right here um and then a watch that we need to fix for anthony and then here we have our booster seat our extra car seat base and an extra diaper bag in case we decide we don't like the backpack style anymore on this side we keep the gas can here just because it's not that way it's further away from the big garage door um for heat purposes and stuff like that just kind of safer and then the bottom bin the orange bin is all full of blocks and like the mega bloks lego type things then this box is all full of toys and extra storage bin type things that aren't being used so i'm not sure what i want to do with those i don't want to bring them inside we rotate the girls toys out so i'm probably going to be rotating some of these in but we're changing up our entire living room which i'll take you guys along as well on that so i'm just kind of keeping those here for now before we do all of that and then here we have our kind of sports section we have um anthony and my batting bag for softball with all our stuff in it the girls batting bag for t-ball they never played at the same time so we were able to just share a bag for them uh they're not playing this season because everything is cancelled obviously but it's there and then we have anthony's disc golf bag in my disc golf bag hanging there we also have our hiking carrier hanging from the wall that was on this shelving unit over here this first one but we needed that space so i hung it up there and then we have our carpet shampooer our vacuum goes right next to it which is inside right now and then our like work boots our rain boots we have our shoe rack here that didn't really change much from the before or at all i don't think and then dog food now coming over to here let's start up top we have the again lightweight stuff those are empty like tin aluminum container things for like drinks and stuff at parties um they're actually my sisters but we kind of just trade them back and forth whenever we have a party we just each use them uh wheelbarrow i use that mainly for photography prop so that's why it's up there so the girls can't play with it and get it all dirty my breast pump box is empty the tin is christmas ornaments we have a snow cone maker and then that gift back there is actually a time capsule gift for quinn from our old neighbor toby and she gets to open that when she turns 18 and we don't even know what's in it so that's up there out of sight out of mind so it doesn't drive me crazy wondering what's in there over here we've got our fire extinguisher i have my computer and my phone covering up addresses because these are also something that we're going to be using that i can't really talk about so we're just going to leave it at that and we will announce soon what the big news is but this is our trash bin that's completely clean cleaned it out completely washed it out and then we store all of our like lawn chairs yard uh camping chairs in there which we have extra so that when we have friends over and stuff we have enough for them we're keeping our tables back there we have two six foot tables and then that's a beer pong table right there which we don't ever use for that purpose anymore we're kind of out of that phase of life but we use it for like a kids table because it's a lot shorter down here we have the three um section like food warmer and then uh wine bottles that are like for decoration that i'm going to be using for like some kind of decorative purpose i just haven't actually figured out what yet so they're just in there and then that's the other paint bin that i was telling you about that doesn't fit on the other side we have our board games here which there are more that need to go in so they're going to be stacked up a little more but that's all right then we have our emergency kit here which i realized after going through it that it is lacking like insanely lacking we need to spice that up fill it up with emergency stuff food and everything so that we're safe in event of emergency we have our um cooler this is just a lightweight cooler it's empty so we can just tear it off of the top of that real quick and grab that if we need to go somewhere quickly for any reason and then over here this is just um stuff this is a birthday gift that i got uh this past june so two months ago now and i just haven't had a chance to put it up yet so it's just there for now and then these are a gift for my nephew so that's there now turning the corner we have down here my the gray that these labels by the way are all going to be replaced with like uniform looking nice labels that aren't crooked i'm going to print them out i just haven't haven't done that yet so i'll show you guys pictures of that over on our facebook page so make sure you click the link in my description and go join that if you want to see kind of the final labeled product but down there in the gray one that's my photography stuff props and blankets and things and then black is winter gear and again there's another winter gear one the black one but they won't fit side by side so they're separated and then we have christmas one two three four five six christmas bins i love christmas it's my favorite so we have the most decorations for that um the orange one is a fall bin and then the box on top is also false stuff and then the purple one is halloween costumes we actually hold on to some of ours and we've actually used a lot of them year after year like if we get invited to a halloween party and we don't have a costume we can just grab one of those and throw it on and not have to spend money buying more so that works great and then over here this is flooring i think i showed you guys um earlier in the video but flooring i use for photography that's the back of it actually um and then just the moses basket and other stuff i use for photography my lighting and stuff is there in this bin this is the easter valentine's st patrick's bin of decorations i don't have a lot of any of that so it all fits in one these shirts this bag is like old shirts that i eventually would like to turn into a quilt or something of the sort but just haven't done yet i don't know how long i'll hold on to them if i don't actually do it before i decide to just get rid of them but for now they're hanging out there and then we have our christmas tree stand and then down there is photography lighting we have our plastic carpet cover stuff we lay this down on our carpets when we have parties so that people don't have to take off their shoes we do um we are no shoe house but when you have parties it's kind of hard so we just lay that on top of the carpet that way we don't even have to worry about it pull it up and it's all clean our canopy and our sleds there all of the bikes the bike trailers and the scooters are easy access for the girls and i have another extension cord back there up here the bikes are hanging on the walls and this little red and wood sled which more so is like decoration than actually useful it's broken in a couple places but i love it i love how it looks we have anthony's snowboard here actually both of them are in there i believe mine and anthony's are both in there and then his fishing poles yard sale signs that i just kind of adjust whenever we have a sail and then reuse and then we have spike ball and washers which we love playing when we have get togethers then we have our strollers we have the single stroller here because this one is one we use the most and especially with river now we just kind of put him in it the girls are big enough where they don't really need to be in it unless we go somewhere like the zoo we're going to be walking a lot then we would bring this double stroller but we don't use it as often so that's why it's kind of blocked right now that gray pillow i actually need to put back in the suv i use it to like take a nap when i'm waiting for the girls at dance or music and river sleeping so that's perfect and then this is that last section that i just showed you guys we have kind of our a few of our power tools there's actually a couple more behind this next to the stroller as well but our power tools the sander and then this bucket is all car wash stuff so whenever we want to wash our car we just grab that whole bucket and we're good to go and then this is kind of the like yard and tool kind of shelf so in this top bin we have all our like nails and screws and hardware and then in this bin here is kind of random yard like tools and um we have like our window repair kit like chip rock chip repair kit like stuff like that that's kind of useful and handy but that doesn't really fit into categories it's kind of random and then here we have our battery charger um glasses like safety glasses and the big like lawn and leaf trash bags and then the sandpaper underneath and then in this one this has tools and we actually keep the tools we use most often we keep inside in the bathroom like closet thing that's in there um but these are just more tools that are out here that we don't use often so they're all in there and then we have kind of our sprays we have goo gone some oil things like that and then down here we have weed killer we have two of those and then a pump thing that we haven't actually used yet so that is our finished garage and it still to me looks a little cluttered just because it's a one car garage and there's just not a lot of space so that's just not something i can fix i can't make more space but i feel like what we've done with the space is pretty pretty good and i'm really really excited about it so if you got
