all right we're back with one of the most beloved movies of all time 25 years ago Field of Dreams capture the hearts of millions and moved to many grown men and women I might add to tears Kevin Costner and some of his co-stars recently returned to that farm where the movie was set it still remains a cherished landmark here's NBC's Bob Costas it was 1989 when a mysterious voice in the Iowa sky first spoke the words that would take their place in Hollywood history and build it he did know Iowa I don't know how this film worked honest to god we're sitting here talking intellectually about this movie but you know movies movies aren't intellectual they're emotional and this one ring a bell that bell still rings today not just for movie goers are for Costner and as Field of Dreams co-stars Dwyer Brown and Timothy Busfield right you have no money they've reunited for the film's 25th anniversary here in tiny Dyersville Iowa is the drought of 88 all the corn everywhere around this field was dead the grass was being painted green there were flies everywhere and yet what came with the movie is so magical what does it mean to you to be back here I get a chance to bring my three little kids here so it's a really good full circle for me that this movie lives so long it's a healthy reminder to me of you know if you start out with what you think a good movie is it might end up that way and it might live for one reason it's lived on is the simple love of the game as captured by James Earl Jones portraying writer Terrence Mann the memories will be so thick you know there's this little movie you've got to do the movie that I want to warn you the long speech about bass brain will never be litanies it'll be on the cutting room floor Marquez ruled by like an army of steam rollers it's been erased like a blackboard rebuilt in the wrist again baseball is not the time even the greatest cynic listen to that one my god that's what this game is all about but this movie has never been about just baseball hey Dad we're gonna have a catch I'd like that Dwyre how often do people after they recognize you say one of a catch quite a bit I always just say I'd like that sometimes we talks a piece of paper back and forth usually the people have some amazing story to tell me about how the movie changed their lives your part is small but if people recall only one scene that's that moment is so moving to people and if you have any sort of father issues it gets imprinted in the back of your mind you know what the line has become in popular culture now people say if you build it they will come but the actual line is if you build it he will come he is your dad yeah you know it's part of the language now across the country movies at their best are about moments that you never ever forget an estimated 65,000 fans still make the pilgrimage each year to run the bases but just to have a catch free of charge and on this particular night to celebrate Father's Day weekend you know you don't know if you're in Disneyland or in Iowa slowly the Sun gives way to stadium lights and soon those lights give way to a movie screen reminiscent of the film's final shot late into the Iowa night people have come to the field of dreams a lot of times people go you know the movies don't mean anything this one did this little movie game make a permit see the movie in a while go out Atlanta SP it is fantastic Oh crying at that story Bob Costas did a great job on it - so Bob thank you very much and there was a celebrity softball game tonight the morning after on that field imagine how much fun a better plan
