last win february 27 2014. seven foot three under fan over jumps center and it is controlled by the [Applause] wildcats askew dribble in the basketball he'll hand it off davey on mince olivier brandon boxton and number 23 isaiah jackson the shot blocking machine boston's first three tonight that finds the bottom good start to the cats go inside to go outside john california actually wrote that down on this white board we got a sneak peek out of it before we talk these guys in pre-game introduction very well done moses moody's the superstar freshman for arkansas on the court smith davis tate and vanover [Applause] both defenses rank inside the top 20 and defensive efficiency they are capable of getting stopped and getting their run game going at the buzzer that one's too strong ask you hustle he couldn't get it picked up by justin smith and often a tick there's jackson block number one he happens just under three again and he got hit he'll go to the free-throw line and shoot two i i thought this is really interesting i have not seen john calipari out with his guys with two minutes on the clock actually coaching teaching engaging he's got his sport coat off tonight looks to me like he is completely all in on teaching coaching driving forcing guys beyond their their comfort level right now that just intrigued me i don't know what spurred him to do it i've watched him since his days back in memphis i've never seen him go out there ravi that late before pregame and continue to coach and peach well i mean it's a different season this is a team it's five and 12 and two games under in the sec it feels like relative to years past there's still a whole heck of a lot of coaching you gotta do right absolutely there is he already mentioned isaiah jackson has a blocked shot in this game he has more blocked shots than 168 division one teams that's how good he is around that rim 23 in white is that like tom brady having more super bowl titles than every franchise in the nfl yeah very very similar very similar with the respect uh that his teammate tapped for him in that game just watching warm-ups all the way through man he commands it he demands it those guys follow they do ask you that's way too strong and the rebound in the hands of devante davis tate to the hole high archer over tsar and he gets it to go for arkansas first too yeah arkansas plays fast that does kentucky right up your back side arkansas leaving average 75 to 80 possessions per game that's one of the higher rates in college basketball baseline was open and he'll kick van over will launch a three and the seven foot three connor van over knocks down another one his 18th of the season he's taking 56. gravity it's nearly impossible to get to his shot when he rises up to shoot at vandover it's the rim and him just a matter of whether or not it's going to go in sorry good pass to jackson and let's go back to conor van over the sophomore seven foot three 247 pounder under little rock arkansas well how do you get to be 7-3 you gotta have height in your jeans and his mom she played basketball in arkansas she was six three dad was in central arkansas at seven feet and look at justin who's in the alabama marching band and stood out at seven foot one conor got really he got the he got the tall gene at seven foot three when you're in the marching band and you're seven one with a hat on and if you go the wrong direction during the formation you stand out right everyone sees that mistake if he went to ohio state he could be the eye he didn't have to donate lay him down was out of bounds when he touched it with kentucky yeah he normally just sucks up defensive rebound that time on the box off doesn't get it done but he's getting about 25 of defensive rebounds when he's on the floor which is an outstanding number pat adams steven anderson and ron gruver are officials tonight as boston will try to get the ball in and he does so you heard jimmy talk about the white board that we saw before the game go in to go out instead tsar drives hard he lost the ball all the way up and ran over the rebound eight pushes wide open and a missed dunk on the other end from justin smith makes the pull up that's good well that's good and that's when kentucky's at their best watching them play against tennessee 30 minutes of that game kentucky was out and running man just freeing it up and going cal telling his guys and telling me today he told them hey we got seven games left let it go man run rip let it go take no good boston the rebound and here they come again they got a three on one and mints launches he had sar and jackson underneath alone [Applause] but boston takes it to the rack and he'll get fouled aggressive aggressive aggressive john calipari for the last two days in practice that's all he's talked about attack attack attack we saw on the white board i want to play inside out tonight kentucky so far they've driven it in they've thrown it in being the most aggressive team so far early ravi sure awesome free throw is good and in boston coming off a bumpy game he had six points shot two of 13 against tennessee looking for some consistency everybody wearing white tonight's looking for consistency baseline deflected there you go that's an easy one for someone 7-3 he's an interesting kid bano knock down a three ball and really look at him just inside just defensively just completely can take away vision of guys even when he's six seven feet away jackson going right at him and he had that ball deflected still hung on and it goes in i love the start by isaiah jackson the the energy level a guy that you don't want to play for you say go do what you do and that's what vancouver can do as well boston pulls up but they are aggressive and they're not taking a lot of time on the offensive end up 12-9 with 15 20 to go yeah boston's got to remember though he's a 26 percent three-point shooter in sec play that was a guarded first side of the floor three by boston isaiah jackson got beat on the baseline by smith will take a timeout he'll go shoot free throws chuck calipari on the court pre-game game decisions then i need to know that right now because we're getting ready to take on indiana and louisville on our next two saturdays i'm counting on you to be my out of bounds under guy drawing up plays can you handle the pressure or not and he went on to talk about how different the pressure is at kentucky more than any other place i thought he had a great feel for this is his third or fourth year now kentucky at the time and i just look at that kentucky team right now all those new faces their first year it can overwhelm you with the pressure when things are rolling your way much less in a season ravi when you're 5 and 12. i think that has something to do with what kentucky feels right now it's inescapable and it's hard to describe and the play actually worked right is that the the kicker to all like your play that you drew up actually did work with the three diving instead of the two it worked but it didn't work how coach sutton wanted it to work exactly therefore it didn't work yeah so for the next week i drew up out of bounds plays in my office non-stop non-stop the very next saturday we're playing at indiana in the hoosier dome 36 000 win the game in overtime and i got it right but that pressure now i'm telling you it's something different at a place like kentucky north carolina kansas just a few of them well you can see those numbers we flashed up on the screen too that's more pressure when you're having such a unique season as far as losses go for calipari so the pressure's up and it's not only on him it's on all these players as sar misses one from the baseline keon brooks and dante allen into the game for kentucky rabbits like there's it's like there's pressure in the oxygen at that point of the season when you're for kentucky you just you can't escape it but a good start by kentucky and this one their defense has been really good so far once they've got it set david williams had that one go right off his fingertips just into the game and it's a turnover for arkansas there's eric musselman of course with all his nba head coaching experience he's been a success here he was with the warriors for a couple of years sacramento kings of the nba and of course had great success in nevada before coming to arkansas flexibility nearly a split yeah good flexibility by tsar so he gives out to us coach musselman these unique little pregame sort of notes or skits and you saw there he took the glass on everybody's car and put rebound meaning like hit the glass go to the glass you need to win the rebounding battle the truth is they've been fantastic at offense and defensive rebounding that shot is a little strong from keon brooks they're going to have to battle on the boards tonight because for all the bad numbers kentucky has they have been very effective as far as their inside play they obviously have a height advantage a huge turnaround in terms of the rebounding numbers from last year to this year i go back to those messages that musk is so good at changing up how he delivers the message he he found that out in an 82 game schedule as a head coach in nba you have to find a way to deliver the message in different ways throughout the season i think he's as good as we have in the college game very creative on his social media communicating with his guys that's noted with a tough jumper contested good defense by mints little trailers minced in the three in and out rebound brooks underneath that big pot he had it blocked our comes in and he's gonna get fouled and go to the free throw line so kentucky going to the offensive glass the point's well taken though she said 82 games man i i was bored when i was in college listening to the coach same old drab drab you know and it and it speaks to keon brooks who had a great comment during this recent loss right afterwards man what else can we do we keep losing and we keep having the same conversations need to hear a different message message after us going to be a good one in the big 12. west virginia texas tech that's tonight nine o'clock eastern time super tuesday continues miles with pride in the last couple of seconds to beat him earlier a terrific game should be another good one coming up when we are done i i think miles mcbride is as good as any guard out there especially a shooting guard not named cory kuster that dude had 31 7 7 assists and three steals in their win against kansas on saturday you and i had him a couple weeks ago that is a big time guard the combo of he and culver man about as good of a combo as we have and in our game he really struggled there's a good pass underneath too and uh may have been flushed by lance where it was going in anyway but into his own basket and a really good cut though by stills i think the world's out of that corner arkansas again a high possession team they want to play fast and they are very good at hard cuts sticking their head under the rim not short cutting their cuts they can top him into the game as calipari has gone deep into his bench this is lance where they get it in now they kick it out that's the game plan knocked down a three i don't know why you go double lance where the 12 foot mark he is not a scoring threat and all it did was allow toppling for a clean three kentucky good start from three point land three to five and there's a three from the corner that one looked good the entire time from moses moody he is going to be an outstanding pro one of four freshman in the country moody averaging 16 or more points trapped with kate cunningham the best ones out there right now cameron thomas kade cunningham yep all freshman averaging just over 16 a game he's at 16-4 but boston just looks better more confident tonight he knocks down his second three no hesitation and john calipari taking his guys this week when you get a clean look let it fly i don't want a ball fake a clean look shoot a clean look well done by boston van over says sure he probably should have said not this time but he didn't he said sure a little continue super tuesday jimmy said you know what you can't get seacrest we're going bigger than that bobby bones b-square gonna join us here on a super tuesday go hogs [Music] i really i never joke about hot cheese susan me neither capital one shopping is kinda genius what's in your wallet [Applause] another sec tournament [Music] [Applause] this is star power from the jump [Music] so ryan's secret on the left what looks like john butcher grass a little bit in fact bobby bones and he was a dancing with his stars champion hard to do david ross tried it and did really well kenny mayne was on one of the first shows of dancing with the stars and to his credit he tried really hard look at bobby holding up that trophy and of course a terrific disc jockey and one of the mentors on american idol jimmy had this idea let's get bobby bones on the show so jimmy you and bobby have had it here for a second well i know he's a huge sec basketball fan and an arkansas fan and i i thought he's uh his role on american idol in terms of how he advises and coaches and teaches performers like asking you tonight bobby's watch a kentucky team right now that's struggling down in their confidence a little bit what would you tell a performer that's kind of lost their confidence so what have you told them in the past you know i work with a lot of talent who you know are really good they just haven't clicked yet and you know mostly it's like getting arrested they need the rest i think at this point kentucky's getting the rest and except for alabama the eyeball test they're the most dangerous team in the sec and we all knew too that with kentucky they weren't playing to make the tournament about halfway through this season they were playing to make the tournament of winning the sec tournament and that's what's dangerous about them um i think they're doing the right thing and you look at them boston is elite and i think they're starting to come together and that's what i advise these junk to it hey it may not be happening right now but the best time for to start happening is right now and they're doing that as a team what about the pressure to perform on the big stage i was talking about that earlier you've been on the big stage american idol dancing with the stars you know those guys just talk about what kind of how that can impact someone as an individual i think we're seeing it with arkansas this year and i haven't watched every razorback game i've seen every team in the sec this year i mean i'm a die artist fan period and i think arkansas started to get that pressure and the thing about pressure is it's not comfortable but if you're going to grow you have got to be uncomfortable and we're at the stage now where we want the pressure it doesn't feel good but you're not going to grow without it and pressure is a good thing like if you didn't have pressure you would just be a mediocre 500 or less team so you know with the team it's almost telling them that hey this pressure that you're feeling like embrace it because not everybody gets it you do they'll suck it up and play and so that's what i'm excited about that's what i'm excited about you know he good luck on the broadcast i was like good luck with the game we're counting on you um so i hope they're feeling pressure because pressure is a good thing to have wait a minute moss said good luck on the broadcast to you he did yeah did you guys not get that i have no idea but he knew maybe we follow each other on twitter who knows let me say this too while i have your ears you guys said you couldn't get secrets that you got someone bigger let me just say for the record i am the gas station ryan seacrest right i'm not even like i'm i'm like i'm like the cheap funyuns and i'm like the bunions you know not so there's ryan seacrest and let's not get it twisted that he's the ghost keep the tom brady of what i do you know and i'm over here just trying to survive so just get that out there all right there's a three bomb since you've been with us your hogs have rallied now and lead it 22-21 jd note so who's the who's the front man then on arkansas would you say i don't you know we got a whole band out there who's the front man for arkansas he's a basketball fan who do you need to be leading this song you know i mean moody is the guy you to put his hands on the ball but jt no jd noticed from the guy when like it's time to have somebody make a decision and make a big play like no k is the guy that is going to put his head down and at least give you everything he's got like you trust that he's going to put it all there so you know it's it's moses but i mean if i got one person with the balls into the game all right so we got nine minutes to go here i want to complete jimmy dice years ago we discovered he tried to sing a song in nashville it became a huge hit after this was years after we played it and it sort of was one of those wow that that one we didn't know about and it became uh you know climb the charts very quickly if you were to advise jimmy on a music career what advice would you give them you know i would drive the opposite direction of nashville wherever you are get in your car and go the opposite way and just keep keep driving kentucky's record tonight well let's be honest kentucky's always been the big brother that we're just trying to kick in the leg enough times he falls down um you know i don't think anyone in arkansas is gonna be so twisted to go that you know we've been up there with kentucky in the last 20 or so years we definitely had our national championship but you know much much to my chagrin and much to my friend matt jones from touch sports radio who i talk to all the time kentucky has been the team kentucky's the team that you want to be so that the team that you want to beat and for us we've only had massive success when we've been able to beat kentucky so i'll say it right now i love the people i hate them though i i can't stand blue so you know i'm really uh really rooting hard tonight oh maybe we got to get matt jones to represent the side next week or the next time we have a kentucky game this is this is and i'm a little concerned about your ripping why were you down on funyuns well so we had to go to the bottom aisle where it was in a bag and so you didn't get like frosted flakes you got like frosty lakes so it was close it was like the generic version for the poor folks in town all my poor people out there know what i'm talking about because they've experienced this too i hear you so you weren't eating funyuns you just ate straight onion i understand what you're saying hey bobby yeah that's what it is it's been great to have you on this has been terrific we can we can see the arkansas pride you have we know what a success you've been and uh with all due respect to ryan seacrest as a superstar at least for super tuesday you're a superstar for us we appreciate it man thanks bobby love you guys go hog be good we'll check that off that's a good get some good stuff there that's some really good stuff for all over the dive into that handling pressure big stage moment actually threw that one up but they're trying to get man over with a couple of fouls that's his first but back to the free throw games and then he kind of went through another two or three game skid but capable tonight and on track a 20 point game kentucky shooting four of seven from three point land that's 57 percent hey jackson jimmy you think about the next level nba prospect if you talk about terence clark who very likely is now going to miss the rest of the season he and coach calipari had a conversation yesterday been dealing with that right leg injury calipari said there's a lot of tears his and mine so at least a month likely rest of the year he's the quote prospect boston is a pro prospect jackson is for sure a pro prospect this was after the conversation man over down low did we get a charge before the pass you know terence wants to play so bad we want him to play i wanted to play there were tears today his and mine and that's the first time that i've seen terence clark with a boot on and that's certainly a kid that comes in with a ton of potential and talent long term want to make sure you get him healthy and that's not the freshman year that terence clark had envisioned when he came to lexington i can promise you that i think he was topping on the foul to your point about isaiah jackson i think he is kentucky's best pro prospect right now because his speed his presence around the rim his reaction to plays as an nba athlete 23 in white is just a quickness man and a 6-11 body the foul was on sar the inbounds and then getting in front of mints with sills got in that paint and it was either going to be an easy two or a foul ended up being a foul on mints see arkansas kind of with their version of that out of bounds play i drew up rag we called it texas because we scored against texas back in the southwest conference it's always good to have a play where you can post a guard off your out of bounds under because you seldom ever ever practice as a defensive guard defending the block good way to get them involved people who don't play especially at the college level pro level you know we peyton manning with omaha omaha and you guys with texas do we complicate things with sports fans is it pretty easy how you come up with these names for these plays you know the most important thing is what what do the players relate to what resonates with them and as soon as we ran that play at arkansas against texas for a big basket from that point on the play was called texas as we always knew hey allen quick shot he's in there to shoot threes and make threes he didn't make that one he's coming off of a game in which he did not play very much at all got seven minutes and struggled from the floor against missouri there's a three that finds the bottom and arkansas warming up from deep ties the game up to 25 all jd note has got eight yeah he is their best shot creator and shot maker with a defender in his airspace he's very good very quick with his feet on the step back and boom quick with the release can can really just go get his own ravi and and musk puts him in there knowing that i might have three or four bad shots of game i have to live with but right there that quickness and just land on two feet and not travel that's very well done by note i'm pretty sure he comes to a jump stop on two feet instead of the right foot first in the left which would be a traveling violation note well done jacksonville transfer he sat out last year he's shooting about 33 percent from three-point land here's davey on mints for a guy that's such a good shooter jimmy explain why he struggles from the free-throw line if he rattles that one in just 63 that was really hard to explain because there's nothing wrong with his mechanics i've watched it on film like you looking at why is this guy not getting it down i mean his alignment is good you stand behind him and look at his alignment all those things the middle picture he probably is processing right now has as much to do with it as anything and that toes pretty much in the middle right there on the nail the shots can be lined up well for him you heard that one goes through the net kentucky by two mints also really a rough game against tennessee one of eight and he missed all four of his three-point field goal attempts pretty good zone kentucky puts on the floor now let's start seven foot jackson sticks eleven topping at six nine across the back good afternoon boston there you go the alley open jackson throws it down with one hand did you see him doing that in an nba game right now i could that speed man i've talked about it before the fastest guy for kentucky in a three-quarter court sprint is wearing 23 in white and he's 6-10 jackson's got seven points he averages six and a half and behind the defense gets desi stills yeah kentucky really ball watching the zones lifted high rabby like it's a high 2-3 zone lifted 2-3 zone good job by arkansas to attack it from behind another wide open but the pass hit the front of the rim and a player is down for arkansas looks like it's j.d note i thought about getting back up and realized not so fast i don't know if you ran into the screen of that double up that double up action kind of maybe a neon knee thing i think note got clipped in this double up action yeah right here bam that neon knee jackson denote a really good half court set though quite cow double up what i mean by that they bring two bigs up call it a high horn set whatever i call it double up when i coach and you certainly need no tape back in this game if you're arkansas almost slightly above the knee like a charlie horse area can be really painful jd not a junior out of covington georgia off to a good start tonight and hope for arkansas say he gets back in williams missed the runner in the lane here comes kentucky again keon brooks back on the floor with sar and boston and toppings boston no serve man over denied him you drove it right at a 7-3 defender that had his feet set from the time you put it on the man over floor for it he falls to the floor he bounced the ball once rare for a 7-3 guy not to have that taken away then he missed the little lefty jump hook yeah rev what's boston here from the first bounce of the floor conor vana was just waiting for him inside that restricted arc and those the type of plays that you have to be able to continue to make if you're bj boston and you have hopes of going on to the next level because the league is loaded with length at the rim and your decision at the rim cannot be predetermined if you're boston 20 feet away not with the tallest player in arkansas basketball history waiting there for your little hoop scoop and more on van over his last three games 13 block shots with a note if he ever gets to the free phil line 17 of 17 on the season is conor vanover 17 of 17 this season hasn't attempted a free throw tonight [Applause] he hasn't attempted a free throw in the last eight games think about it a while yeah it's been a while i'll tell you again with four minutes to go in this game kentucky's gonna be in position to win it and we'll see what happens from there long three that finds the bottom that vance jackson stepping into one yeah jeff jackson can make some guarded threes because he's six nine through kentucky don't get shook your zone's been pretty good too the guy jumped up and made a shot we'll see how much patience cal has with his own you talk about coaching and the pressure you were dealing with is sar from straight away three no good keon brooks had it once lost it on the floor it's arkansas comes away with it pressure as a coach the idea that we're talking about i think 30 seconds into the game you were talking about the last four minutes of it at some point you gotta win one of those right that that's how you turn around that mentality i'm panicking already if i'm kentucky thinking about the last four minutes and you know what's in the back of their minds as well and kentucky the what so what's the formula the last four minutes make sure that we're forcing the other team to take tough twos make sure we're getting a good shot that we can rebound and don't turn it over they have not done those things and as a result the panel on the left says not good the last four minutes kansas georgia alabama they had a chance to beat auburn they had a chance to beat alabama missouri tennessee georgia and six could be nine and one if they were able to finish those last four minutes and brooks are into the rack and he gets it to roll over the rim good job by brooks he almost closed out tennessee the other night on that operating off of that block tough move there a little vance jackson step through kentucky's had the lead in the second half 13 of their 17 games think about that they've only got five wins to show for it [Applause] a lot of contact a lot of contact top one will go to the free-throw line 32-32 3 46 we talked about those final four minutes for kentucky we'll see how it plays out guys yeah final four of the second half we are under four in the first half kevin look forward to the halftime report with you seth and fonz to fonze's point been a clean game only three turnovers for kentucky only three for arkansas as well and top and misses the second free throw so they lead by one with 3 40 to go grabbing into into seth's point we we asked him particularly about building a roster and how he goes about it with all the transfers i thought he gave us a great comparison he said when he was in the nba he would meet with his staff at the end of the season and say okay we might get a late first round or second round guy when will they produce 10 points a game for me and normally the answer is maybe year two probably year three and he said then let's trade for somebody that's a veteran that can get us 10 right now and that's kind of his philosophy in college coaching like i'm going to get some good young freshman when if i can go get a transfer that fits who we are yeah and i know i'm gonna give that 12 to 14 point guy man i'm going to get as many as i can get and he's out in front of it in that area another loose ball goes to kentucky keon brook stroke they had three chances and couldn't come down with one another thing that he wants people to recognize moody is a freshman they play van over he's a sophomore devonta davis is a freshman they're building the prospects through recruiting the transfers come in and you recognize that they are not the guys you originally recruited their transfer is recruited by somebody else so while everybody focuses on the job he's done to fill out his roster let's not forget how they are recruiting and building a program through the grass roots i think he's got a great blend i think he's got the perfect mix of what he's got going [Music] so jimmy notice boston is really running the point now there's no mints and there's no ask you on the floor so they've given the responsibility to boston as keon brooks took it right into the traffic and had that ball taken right away from them well if he's gonna be the point he just needs to be a play starter and that's pretty much what kentucky's offense is i mean ask you is not a go by you guy either so john calipari is asking his point guards just get the play started get the ball moving boston more than capable of doing it there's coaching and then it's kd kyrie harden and the nets taking on steph and the warriors eight o'clock eastern time on abc and espn plus pay-per-view at 10 eastern time the ufc 258 main card that's zusman and burns which means if that's saturday super tuesday jimmy is going to do his best gilbert burns imitation walking down the hallway once a year arkansas comes to that timeout in a stacked zone knowing that calp called a timeout group of man-to-man play most likely and says fine i'll i see and i'll raise you one arkansas gets the stop left-handed shot in traffic that's missed by davonte davis two three zones sometimes they stack those guards up top and over play a little bit can't get careless with the ball watch 11. trying to get it to allen to fire up the three they got 10 on the shot clock jackson to a cutting brooks to the rack with the left that was really a really easy basket but very well done by brooks to cut hard and with a purpose i made those rim scoring cuts man very important in ball good shot by davis two tough left-handed floater in the lane and arkansas by one that cut was set up too jimmy good spacing on the floor from kentucky brooks had a lot of territory to run down that lane i heard cal poly olivier and there's the cup what's from behind yeah that's what devo can do to you or no has no tay but just a good job arguably to sniff that out with olivier on the elbow touch watch it cut by brooks arkansas just not uh not engaged the spacing's terrific note is uh hugged up his guy on the weak side those kind of plays can't happen on the road if you're arkansas you basically just gave kentucky too it's an interesting conference and tonight's game is kind of a microcosm of it jimmy the sec has been so flush with great point guards this year it feels like the point guard position in the sec is down a little bit you think about sharif cooper maybe the most prototypical point guard but everybody else not like they have a blow-by guy you know who's gonna get you his points and create the kickouts no they really don't tennessee doesn't have one kentucky doesn't have one missouri's got a pretty good winning xavier pinson with some good speed but that's a good assessment by you got spoiled in this conference with great point guards in alabama for years you know had guys going to the pro from the point guard position [Applause] you got time for two dribbles obviously you have time for a pass and a shot through kentucky right now [Music] important to defend this play you see where the ball is going it's going to go to saw right there at mid court if you back it up and look at it he's the biggest target you can throw it to and then you got shooters especially davion mintz at the bottom shots every practice in the morning they take half court shots they opted to go to the foul line i i think that's what he did they answered a knife back in there with some really sweet shoes by the way first of all for kentucky right you think about this kentucky's shooting 25 in this game from the two-point part of the floor they're shooting 44 from the three start making your shots close to the rim if you're kentucky would go a long way that's going to be off of justin smith as min scotty you saw a little pressure being applied by kentucky as soon as the ball was inbounded little double team action so muscleman's group's going to adjust to that i'm wearing black shoes with white soles tonight they do not look like john calipari if you were still a coach there you'd probably have those shoes i don't think so he shot somewhere different than i do i'm just and they're drifting out of that coaching box so we may have to have a [Applause] good call jimmy knocks that one down yeah moody only played five minutes with the two fouls he's got six points now he's two or three from three yeah he's just too good man you gotta have a versatile defender the entire possession on moody because he will also get on that offensive line hey devin askew knocks down a three his first uh three points of the game right in front of the kentucky bench ask you limited in the first half wondering if there was anything physically wrong and according to the kentucky information directors there was not he's available and you see him in there making the play isaiah jackson block and a run out ahead of the field boxton now one on three got banged and he still makes the bucket no foul yeah very few times this year has boston got banged as you described and finished the play learn a little lesson going up a little bit understanding contact's going to come gotta play through it man over against foul we are going to see a van over free throw we are going to see two of them haven't seen it for eight games we should just just let it breathe here just let's watch hasn't taken a free throw in eight games can we make this puck looks good sounds good and he drains it he is automatic right i mean literally he's automatic he's not 18 for 18 from the one yeah it's just one of those things you just don't see so you got to let the people just enjoy it [Applause] isaiah jackson's 12-foot mark as a jump shoot you throw it to him to isolate him let him use his quickness to drop his hips and let him go shoot hanover can do that and he does connor fan over knocks down another three his second of the night he's such a unique kid van over and just a red shirt sophomore it takes big guys a lot of times another couple of extra years to kind of catch up to the game a lot of times the game chooses you as your 7-3 i think he loves ball and he's an impact in this game tonight boy that quick quick first step and covers a lot of ground with his first bounce and justin smith first of all could be posted up in the paint not outside the plane but a good find to play inside out by arkansas that's not the shot they want from jackson about an 18-footer davis has been quiet moody knocks down another one that's such a pretty shot moses moody with nine he is the best pro prospect on this floor tonight moses moody overall just that big prototypical 6-6 wing that can flat out shoot it top put on the floor a little bit gotta make those olivier at least you got to get fouled right you got to get how you have to [Applause] rattles one off the rim [Applause] jackson trying to get the third on van over help from behind my goodness the ability of tate not to break a leg you see how he landed on that floor bounced right back up all family is as tight a knit group as we have at espn it's a small group but it is really tightly knit and for gosh the last 24 years pedro and i had been to every world series together we traveled to cuba together all the things you've read or seen about his radiant smile his warm personality are true and they don't even do justice to what he meant a to his family and b to his extended family such a sad sad phone call i received from alex cora the manager of the red sox his son of course plays in the red sox minor league system and they called alex the manager of the red sox to inform him and he called me and it it was really really a hard hard field to swallow again thoughts and prayers go out to pedro it doesn't seem real for all the basketball like pedro that's that's how you're supposed to live life yeah i think that basket's gonna count ravi i think it should it certainly looks like he's wondering whether it's going to count he calls a national supervisor of officials this week they send out a weekly video for those officials to look at and stay on top of rare unique plays that will probably show up but is a very good call and a tough call made by this crew it'll show up with your audio on it too saying good call tough call great job look at coach cal sitting over right there right now and when you know the frustration going on we got to remember he has averaged 31 wins a year for the past 15 years that's how good he is wow what any turn of events there boston had that ball ripped away from him and then on the other end jay killen tate goes to the hole gets fouled and all of a sudden arkansas has got a chance to go up by 10. watch the rip again i i said it a couple of games ago boston's inability to draw nba fouls is going to really hold him back with his game because you can get eat up right time after time after time again at that next level if you think about going in there with weak stuff and arkansas just rips it runs the other end and jalen tate's had a couple of really good minutes here on both ends moses moody with the steal now here's tate high arcing free throw goes right through lead is 10 biggest of the game for arkansas ask you he takes it to the paint and he ran into two guys you're gonna have a foul on the floor [Applause] remind everybody saturday on the sec network full day of college hoops capped off by this one a m at the o'connell center in gainesville to take on florida 8 30 eastern time 7 30 central it's available streaming on the espn app the sec network great man has been really good florida's in the mix for an ncaa at large bid we'll see the gators right next tuesday night on super tuesday you know coach cal early this week ravi said my guys they do want to win but they still want to win on their turns what does he mean by that he means we they want to win but on their terms as in i'm going to break off and do my own thing when it gets hard i'm just going to drive the ball without any purpose when it gets hard that's not how you win at this level you stay together and you trust one another and you move that ball and you you trust the game plan that coaches had in place you don't win games on your terms you win games on our terms and coach cal continues to drive that message home isaiah jackson picked up his third on that foul on tape so he's playing with three he's grabbed him in the back court i think he called it on two instead of 12 blessing and the curse of having no one in the stands you can hear everything that's said i'd prefer it the other way think about rap arena jimmy on a given season and look they're struggling at rough you know they're they're looking to stay at 500 at home you've got 20 000 folks in there screaming and yelling that's an enormous advantage generally for kentucky and then just dribble out of bounds the deceptive bank sign blew right next to the out of bounds blue [Applause] he literally [Music] that one's going to be hard to explain to a coach like you know where you are on the floor you cannot possibly step back to propel yourself forward from that spot it wasn't subtle either no it was a good two feet when he went out of bounds he was going out he was all in on being out of bounds if you're going to go go where's kentucky go with the ball right now brooks was the first option against tennessee late really driving each other and he takes it in traffic gets blocked and a run out for arkansas behind the back and there it is a pretty play for jaylen tate oh my god devo davis man he's just got a knack to do some special stuff i i love foreign red he's gonna be an all-sec guard one of these days right now i just played harder than anybody else on the floor they're doing a lot of passing a lot of running top and goes in hard [Applause] see if that can get him fired up but jacob topping tomahawk sometimes a basket is worth more than its actual point you put on the board and and that could be one of them ravi that that two points could be worth you know three or four here for kentucky showed some touch off of the glass his mince then comes back the other way and did he lose it out of bounds no it'll stay with kentucky kentucky is playing a crowded game on the offensive end they're driving it into each other and they've driven it into multiple red jerseys on the last three or four possessions with the exception of top and there's that guy devo davis man he's he's a young patrick beverly in the making i think for arkansas and the play out of the corner by topham with great explosiveness and williams with a nice touch watched him play at fort smith north side williams when he's a sophomore you could just see this this kid's got a real future about him guarding tsar right now remember arkansas has lost here last eight to kentucky leading the sec in scoring and they're winning by almost 13 a game mints that's a big three and pulls them within seven [Applause] again caught it shot it didn't think that by the ball fake get it clean let it fly kentucky needs to put clean pressure on arkansas right now defend without fouling williams three no good a little quick by jaylen williams from three in conference play a tough pass asking vince on the corner where the defenders were he's able to recover for davis all davis is wearing ascu's jersey every much as ask you is there's a steal bad pass no angle the left no good easy tip up and in from jd note mistake from ask you on a turnover and where were the other white jerseys for kentucky on the miss not back on defense williams being very physical with sarah you can't gamble though he did a good job of body blowing with him playing legal defense and then tsar steps away and willing to try to gamble from behind defend without fouling man defend without fouling push it the miss little red jerseys and white new jerseys play like that is that something in the film session that the coach will stop and say can somebody explain where the white shirts are yeah and there is no correct answer ravi this is just not ask you had it deflected away regained it brooks misses the baseline jumper and it's red coming away with it and they run it [Applause] was going to take that three instead he takes it into traffic and it's ask you having no one on the floor over the mids that could spread the defense out in transition offense for kentucky everybody ran into the paint there was no three-point presence arkansas snuffed it out there's a foul on olivier sar wonder about dante allen hasn't really played more than a minute he is old for two he's a three-point threat right now he's riding the pine as well which ended very favorably ended really on a positive note relative to how it started jimmy actually about three weeks after that incident cal said we were already back being friends again and cal said that absolutely coach chaney made him a better coach how to grind which i had with coach chaney in the airport at 5 45 a.m after game night talking about roles rules and responsibilities for players and man was he demanding all three of those the other three are instead of reading writing arithmetic you know the other coach we out there nolan richardson man one of my favorite people in the world is coach richardson and one of his all-time great quotes and it's still true if you see me wrestling the grizzly bear still feel bad for the grizzly bear that's nolan richardson he golf right here at the country club where i live on and it could be cart path only and he's out there driving his part on the grass and no one says a word coach he's [Applause] ask you three jimmy kentucky you gotta play a little defense here at the 11 minute mark down eight yeah two good defensive teams again both of them ranked inside the top pointing both of them can put you in long defensive possessions you gotta have some patience move the ball don't settle for toughness that's strong that's a good look and he can't get him to go but moses moody's been active on the defensive end with his blocks with a steal from his defensive rebounding he's just a good all-around player talking about five in red for arkansas and just does everything really thinks the game kid that wakes up with a plan every day his plan is to make a lot of money playing this game and he's gonna do it [Music] [Applause] right right he did in the first half that's what he did he ran right into a wall of jalen williams and it's williams who collapsed well that helps the help's got to be there tighter in the gap on isaiah jackson you know what's going to happen and ask you is up top i know he's made a couple of threes tonight but this is not a big three-point shooting club the threat is 23 driving that ball and that gap's got to be closed off about a half step closer rescue goes to the bench got only one turnover two assists where will the offense come from now with brooks jackson and boston on the floor mint and jacob coffin mints will launch and that's way off davion mintz two of eight from the floor two of six from three-point land gotta be more consistent for kentucky to win that'll go out of bounds off kentucky moody three empty trips for the razorbacks still struck at 60 but kentucky hasn't been able to cut into this eight-point deficit picks up his dribble gravity asking where's the offense come from it's got to go through jackson and brooks and let them go to work all right what are you going to do can't finish it but dion brooks with a nice spin move they'll go to the free throw line yeah cal has taken over this game in terms of where he wants the ball to go and it's taking quite a while still to try to figure that out but right now going back to the tennessee game and now this one the game's close you need good possessions you need good looks he's going to play through brooks and he's going to play through jackson hard to imagine obviously the record will indicate struggle but they have lost kentucky six of their last seven the way calipari has had this thing rolling they never lost six of seven no this is all new for him everyone in that kentucky program but you know what the goal is still the same get to the final four the final four minutes of this game is what i'm talking about that's the goal that that's the difference of this year's kentucky teams and years past the difference of what do you mean by the final four big move as boston got beat on the offensive end by justin smith who stands 6-7 and gave up some pounds did boston and some height and smith's got really good hands though he's number two for arkansas and assists muscleman likes playing through smith that helps the bank works calipari's arms go up we're fine without the way things have gone a five-point game arkansas is like number 315 in the country on the on the luck meter i'm not sure how ken palm comes up with it they deserve someone to go down every now and then like that yeah kentucky is right you said arkansas kentucky's that way yeah yes number 315 in the country in terms of bad luck boy how smooth is moses moving yeah that looks easy doesn't it yes it does that's why that's the great ones have that in common stopping in trouble here kicking to boston [Applause] tsar three all net and made a couple of threes to keep it close tsar is their best three-point weapon i know you're going to say what are you talking about look at his percentages you look at what the coaches said about him back in september october you look at the release this guy is now shooting about 60 from the three-point line he could become a pick-and-pop option for cal this is tech big showdown coming up top of the hour back to ravi and jimmy little boy kevin back here with jimmy you know just quickly on alabama they got a nice lead in the conference two games we saw the loss to missouri herb jones one of seven tonight jimmy he did not have a good game against missouri do you arrest him for the tournament do you arrest him for the ncaa tournament can he play yeah that's what it is it's not the rest is is he healthy and can we get him healthy continuing to play him and nate oates he knows his guys he knows the fuel for that team but if herb jones is not healthy alabama can't get to the final four if herb jones is 100 healthy alabama can get to the final four and nato has to make sure that he gets all the input and the honest feedback from herb jones right now because that's how important you guys are they come in arkansas the number 20 defensive team in the nation we talk about how fast they play on offense they can lock you up and they've got good defensive depth on that bench for musk to go to ask you williams wide open an airport moody trying to keep it alive [Applause] and he may have done just that and call that off jackson and it'll stay arkansas basketball good job by kentucky to hot switch within that possession because williams was being guarded by askew for about four or five seconds and then on the fly as she got his tail out of there and got a big back on williams it was really well done four on the shot clock three that one is launched and that's too strong and it didn't get the win so that's a violation looks like williams got another one off of the uh face area near his mouth or his nose can't tell if there's blood coming out of his nose or not well i i know this eric muslim looks at this guy and says i i don't have to coach effort and then what a great starting point for a true freshman when you don't have to coach effort the other stuff will come and we're two minutes or 40 seconds away from the four-minute mark and big blue nation will exhale and say what's going to happen again in this game no pure three-point shooter jimmy they set up a play for keon brooks who's a 26 percent three-point shooter and it's uh where they're at right now in lexington the kentucky faithful they see us inching towards that dreaded four-minute mark and they're down by seven close game chance to win if you can get some offense and defensive stops how do you do it you get a good quality shot every time down a shot that allows us to also rebound and you make sure arkansas is taking tough shots and that part about take a shot that we can rebound is so so important when you're playing from behind bad shots no chance to board it good shots give yourself a chance sounds like pat adams was saying red five and white 10 double technically [Applause] too strong and mince comes away with it eight-point game kentucky needing points mints all the way to the basket ask you way off you can see that from jump street way off and an air ball and you can't get a better look than that out of transition you threw the hammer pass the feet were set plenty of time and missed the whole dadgum room shooting 50 here in the second half jackson reaches around that's going to be a foul on jackson and that demonstration may have got him a [Applause] technical and with the technical that's foul number five on isaiah jackson there wasn't near as much contact on the replay as i thought it looked live and that's the problem anytime you reach from behind on post defense the official's eyes are seen that's a foul and that's something that jackson could have to learn to continue to defend with discipline and sits down with a frustration fit foul that's a big loss for kentucky with 6 10 to go he started out promising for jackson in the first half and for the third time this season he's fouled out of the game me i'm just watching you get the sense that some of that frustration over losing six of seven over the last four minutes overall the conversation you mentioned the pressure of coaching kentucky you know what the pressure's like playing for kentucky it's boiling over a little bit here it's all there yeah absolutely from the fans to cal to the players to coach ryan's cheerleaders up on the second level the frustration is real coming out of lexington right now and for the first time that since you and i been doing games the last couple of weeks is kentucky going to be in contention with four minutes ago they have to fight their tails off right now for the next two minutes to get in that spot uncommon times in lexington and it calls for an uncommon response in life and cal has pushed every button he can think of you know i talked a couple of times this week and it's not from lack of effort holding guys accountable it just has not worked all right so let me ask you this if it's not from lack of effort and you look at this league and you see missouri and tennessee and arkansas and alabama and florida and kentucky do they have the talent to play with those are they better than those teams are they equal are they worse talent-wise kentucky has the talent to play with those teams they don't have the talent to beat those teams the freshman class ravi is not the typical freshman class it's good but it's not john wall anthony davis michael kid guilford just keep on going down the line it's better than the others and it's not better and it's not this year it is not yeah muscle's going to just control this game and almost defend his guys a little bit right now using that clock getting guys isolated he's so good muscleman is at isolation basketball getting the match up that he wants and pressing his guys to make the play that time he got it i believe it was to note but eric musselman can coach with anybody out there he and calipari actually used to go to a lot of lunches yeah when musk was an assistant to the memphis nba organization and cal was a head coach at memphis they got a good relationship foul was on justin smith you heard the fans give a mock cheer for the officials 16 personal fouls against kentucky there have been 17 called against arkansas [Music] 101 for keon brooks and that's how it's gone a 90 percent free-throw shooter misses the first end of a one-on-one pat adams wants to discuss things with steven anderson and ron gruber gives us an opportunity to remind you coming up nine o'clock eastern time tonight bob huggins west virginia mountaineers squared off against texas tech they're in lubbock you can watch it live on the app in morgantown back on the 25th of january miles mcbride a go-ahead jumper with 0.6 to go it was a chance for texas tech but denied at the last second on a shot that went off the iron do you agree with me miles mcbride and derrick culvert west virginia as good of a combo as we have out there yeah i did the florida game with me yeah i did a grown man yeah big of grown man don't forget has transferred to kentucky now that's a grown man tsar knocks one down chibwei eligible to play next year but he's in practice banging around with these guys i would get star another couple of three-point looks in this game off that pick and pop action he is their best shooter right now that kentucky could put on the floor if dante allen is not going to get any run get a stop four minutes ago kentucky's right back where they've been over the last four five six seven eight games they're right there right now six point game 439 to go they're going to win it on the defensive end if they're going to win it but here's that sar pop out three there's nothing wrong with that shot man that's a seven footer shooting a really good ball ashby does a good job of putting it right in his shot pocket feels like a really important stop right now for kentucky if they can get it long three no good offensive rebound no good we're gonna call it on arkansas they get smith i don't know what ask you said but man he said it was some personality and some conviction kiddish should still be in high school has been really thrown out there this year but i i don't know what he said but i like how he said it i know that ain't no back down in this kid you can question how good he is i don't question his toughness and his tri level that's been a recurring commentary from the program and those that knew and know ask you there's no back down no matter how he performs criticism aside he is that tenacious guy boy free throws continue to haunt him they get a chance though on the offensive rebound by tsar arkansas has got to do a better job boxing out on free throws yep kentucky's got to get a good look shoot a shot that gives you a chance to rebound [Applause] it's a four-point game with 4 14 to go [Applause] what'd i tell you an hour and 45 minutes ago at the four-minute mark kentucky will be in position to win the game what will they do number three ball missed kentucky comes away with it that was take arkansas cooling off a little bit after shooting 57 for much of the second half down to 44 that's a good look though wow i love the call by calipari i absolutely love the call [Applause] there'll go staff there's an old and that's an old nolan riff you can set right there ravi tough defense the follow though was there they do a double team and that left an easy offensive rebound for smith ask you with the paint nice left-handed layup well they believe they're up they're on their feet [Applause] double stack again if you make a mistake the guard can turn the corner a good way for musclemen to kind of use a little clock right here nolan richardson was a master at using that double stack high to close out a game penetrates ooh tough layup from tate in traffic how tough and determined was the drive by lebanon rick oh and a near pick but instead they call a kick [Music] talked about it off the top jimmy go ahead and again isaiah jackson's fouled out picked up a technical first fifth in arkansas on the road ravi they've only turned the thing over six times arkansas has played a really good game in rapper [Applause] best three-point shooter you called it again he's got 13 in his third three can he get two more off in this game i'm calipari how can i get 30 and white freed up a couple of more times [Applause] you're focused on that because he's the only guy that's absolutely capable of doing it well that was like a maybe been a walk he on brooks came over to block that shot were their steps taken jimmy that looked like a good move there for williams yeah there was a there's a lot happening on that play and william trying to force the action with 14 or 15 on the shot clock one that's an extra step jimmy that's an extra step before he got fouled let's watch watching pick it up one two three maybe even four regardless arkansas going to that free-throw line [Applause] you've lost jackson and you've now lost brooks but you still have sar [Applause] [Applause] brooks out with his fifth so you mentioned that dante allen has not gotten any run here he's played total of nine minutes in the game that's a three-point shooter as somebody else that the arkansas defense may have to focus on instead they bring jacob topping back in bigger body in the free throw is knocked down by williams [Applause] williams state game but he's playing a lot better and a lot healthier tonight he's got nine they've been very good from the free-throw line making 15 of 19. five-point game kentucky keeps getting they set up boston askew a little too strong damaged who picked it up they got plenty of time this car has not touched it on this position and that's a that's a problem if he doesn't get at least a touch basket throws it up and doesn't get the roll but he'll go to the free-throw line to shoot a couple so what did arkansas do to start on that possession ravi that's all i was watching they just stayed on his body man let him pop top three and this is what got him going that corner three and then a couple of pick and pops for big 30 a seven footer that's gonna get the shot off when he rises up again it's him and the rim you're not gonna get to his ball so what do you do you don't let him get his hands on that ball arkansas being very physical with sar as well as they should 77 free throw shooter kentucky has not been great from the free throw line here late now four of seven this half arkansas came in tonight according to leonardi as a nine seed i i think they're a real problem like they've got good pieces they're really well coached they play a good brand of ball on both ends of the floor this thing's not over but arkansas 12 or 13 from the free throw line of the second half arkansas 12 or 13 jimmy that's a big difference in this game that's being talked you let me talk about free throw shooting all the time boy good job to get it out of the hot tap keep that ball moving right now either play isolation keep the help defense off of you or keep the ball moving russell's isolation and kentucky's going to trap him out of it try to dribbling right through it with six on the shot clock a floater in the lane that's no good [Applause] you gotta get star involved right and try to back screening for the block arkansas better stay physical with [Applause] him [Music] boston rises knocks it down b.j boston makes it a one-point game [Applause] all target as a pressure release in case arkansas can't get this ball in right now rudy almost lost that ball on the catch and boston will get the foul and that will send jd note to the free throw line no today a 78 percent free throw shooter team shoots 73 from the free-throw line and west virginia texas tech underway on espn news will get you there as soon as this one is over how will it end this kid has risen up note to 80 in conference play from that free throw line cal wouldn't want to mess around with it he's gonna try to extend this game as long as he can he comes with a foul with 22 seconds to go i like the move you couldn't let that clock go a little longer right and gambled and all that but don calipari coaching his rear end off right now extending this thing and that foul has paid off for coach cal and his guys now pay it off at the other end and he's been coaching all night you know he has been vocal all night long on the sidelines screaming in foreign she's thinking you know what the difference is this game and every other game i'm here tonight i'm the difference for kentucky that's how you got to think right two-point game 22 to go what's your play jimmy tsar's got to touch it yeah because kentucky again they lack that guard and just go by his guy and make him play and kentucky has to be careful not to not to drive this ball into a crowd keep the floor spread let star try to operate in some space gives kentucky the lead here comes arkansas will they call time no they won't davis no good at the buzzer do we have a foul 4.3 to go can tucky foul arkansas to the free-throw line califari screaming jump ball about mince knocking down the three to give him a lead they kentucky they shot that ball man with a lot of comment no hesitation at all by davion mintz he came from creighton as a shooter and look for the foul here at the end just a lot of arms and banging going on oh man not not a lot there not a lot of con i didn't see a lot of contact ratty jimmy not a great free throw shooter 63 [Applause] kentucky with a timeout musk has [Applause] excuse me got it they lead by one it was tate who made that and it's 81.80 can you throw the ball to half court and then have time for another pass or four dribbles and a shot got to go through the wrong guy to start with and that will do it you called it the turnover arkansas will break that eight-game streak and they wanted 81-80 a lot to communicate as you mentioned
