It was that swing, that damn swing
He has the most frustrating baseball legacy ever, in my opinion.
Not disappointing. Lots to be happy and satisfied about as a fan and for himself.
But frustrating, for sure.
His time on the Reds was largely ineffective, marred by injuries and he had little to no lineup protection or solid pitching rotations to propel him to the post season or better offensive numbers.
I know he went to Cincinnati to support the team, to go to his hometown, to follow in his father's footsteps... but man. You wonder if he had stayed in Seattle, or if he had in fact allowed a trade to a higher profile club -a.k.a more likely to contend.
I realize his years on the Reds were largely defined by injuries and a steady overall decline in his stats and that could have happened on any club and it was his body breaking down due to age and wear and tear and not the club's doing, but still.
I'll always wonder what could have been.
Like if he had gone to an A.L. club and become even a part time DH, would that have prolonged his healthy productive years somewhat? Would he have 700 or more HR's?
Sweetest swing ever
Griffey boatracing the entire yankee pitching staff in the 95 ALDS was something else.
G.O.A.T.
Great video. Terrible music
Oddly satisfying
