Keeping up with the Joneses Episode 1 (3/3)

see you beauty she's arrived from Tamworth in fine form I kind of stay away every minute thousands of kilometers that is and this other ones from Milton if not and decides to ever get on the horse but there's still the issue of getting them across the flooded river at the homestead Milton's off to check the water level and after a long wet he may be in for a surprise that's sort of dropped there now I reckon was about a meter hind this morning can get in quick a we can just about drive across the christina the timing couldn't be better the mo River is a sure sign the width is over vision and the horses can come back it's good to see that new med and it was very exciting to get her over the river and now the workers can follow for coming together we run clubs going to we start work there's a bit probably three weeks of work straight after the wet before you actually start mustering everything's coming good spot on there's a lot of fencing to be done you know repair holding paddocks maintenance there's plenty to be done never stop it's a bit of fun bit of a mouthful of blood after two or three month break they come back and they're ready to go again happy to be back usually hopefully welcome to curly Barger arriving with the other workers is one of the new rookie pilots and he's sure to add some color around the place men on the cattle station before never know got a hat ah no I swag not on me no no I left to get that organized at the tender age of 20 Sunshine Coast boy Jeff is already a licensed chopper pilot and he's come to coolly Bertha try and fly with the big boys it's lurchy not sure what that she does but he's been in a war I'll show you your room it's almost like a different country being out here I mean I'm not still in Oz but just yet everything so different here the nearest beach is probably about 500 K is Northey so he won't be needing his boardies for a while yeah I'm not short and stormy for the next six months or so but my girls just tried yet straight up into the air into a chopper ASAP but Jeff's about to find out that's not how things work around here I think he's brand new and I think you too knows what's gonna happen this is saying you got to learn to walk before you run so Coolibar Jeff's got to learn to bulldoze before you can fly it isn't isn't what I expected like it's a bit different finding out the rules more and more as we go along they want to be must from pilots but I don't know whether they will be or not I need to learn about cattle and Stockton here our property runs first got to be prepared to work hard they don't do that their Mo's will go back where they come from like breaking one of my money last a week upside we'll find out and with mustering approaching the jobs are only going to get harder so is Jeff gonna stick it out yeah I'm not too sure exactly how long we'll be here for I'm really hanging out to it up love to it still has to be in there be good our next the Coolibar kid does some school work after school and still to come guess who's coming to dinner got a real likable person that he's not a bad cook put it that way the wet has finally broken and everyone's working to get Coolibar ready for mastering season these are your average backyard jobs done the Joneses way from putting up a shed they lap this side on tonight I reckon play this out it organisation a mulling the lawn and watering the plants bit of gardening that's it this time of the season there should be in the mustering and everything but listeners gotta be done as well but with all the work someone has to play delivery for little Milton it's full of pirates tough little Milton's on a treasure hunt oh wow with Rainey his friend from next door almost every day's dress-up day he loves dressing up as a pirate eat ha yeah the young fellas almost ready to try his sword for a pen and start school and when he does I'm and dad won't have to go far to drop him off he's getting a little skill room built so he can concentrate better in keno inside the house too many distractions while his brother and sister go to boarding school in Brisbane little Milton will do his first grades in a classroom for just one student he was very excited about getting it when we bought it across the river he wanted to move in till we couldn't get him out of it actually wanted to live in there permanently didn't want to do schoolwork and everybody wanted to live in there yes I like it that's the school Christy and I just digging out a bit of ground we're going to put some sand in hand and put some of the pavers here just so I've got a little bit of a veranda and paved area from the schoolhouse can do sort of the outdoor activities a little mountain he's only doing preschool so it's all fun stuff anyway should be pretty enjoyable we hope while the ladies plan for little Milton's formal education dad reckons it's time the little man learned a thing or two from the school of the bush let's grab the leg site a few weeks Basava little milton's visiting Ronnie's croc farm next door to learn another side of the family business that's the last one for the year right yeah well that's the last few eggs come on put them in oh well you got to teach him how to work in he does a bit a just starting to do a bit now how to room hey they'll hatch then there's some may that a hatch dad look each other because on New Year's look either use a sequin up while I reckon need anything Crocs are one of the dangers of work and life at gulab our backbone oh you are savage and belittle Milton this is the perfect place to learn about is nasty neighbors quick they're nearly be it's all good for him later on if it's a bit of practical experience and common sense there with a good education you should turn out all right quickly now and the lessons don't stop at the farm tomorrow's little Milton's birthday and dad's got in an early gift thing under you've closed it off I'm gonna keep your hands under ink that's it you're right play with me well you know what we'll do take the nose rope off easy on the nose rub off it no don't don't get rough next the runaway chef returns what are you back here at Cooley bar it's a special day for a very special little blood little Melton / - okay very exciting is for the Avenue of his presence at all o'clock this morning I hear he is only in the workshop that's be harsh at the work and the dirt I use policy you you check what's your favorite present with your toolbox what we might be nail you ready to start it I think there we're going to knock off at about 12 o'clock sir yeah bit of the party while it's a day to celebrate not everyone's happy up to the end of the ride going click the food order with Trevor the cook still missing Christy's on shopping duty and unless you hunt the only way to get grub out here is off a truck nicely food in the order and then it's basic stuff like cleaning products and see general staff Jim far from your fifth market instead not after water all the oil doing a job she didn't sign up for is starting to take its toll yes so we were pleased with it little over rumor quite tiring because you got to get up early and finish like with everything else that I'll do during the day it's a bit much but luckily for Christy back at the ranch there's a surprise waiting in the kitchen we'll go in and see what's going on right wait wait going on what time it what are you back here Trevor the Cook has reappeared you didn't muck around cooking the food gotta get on into it I call this and where he's been is no longer a mystery he went back to the ghoul case where he comes from for a ruddy week or two and pulled the pin with corn boots then the other now let's come out and try it what's a go Oh so my wife rang him up and said do you want to come back and work and I said no by the way you want war hey we got water comfort Amina but I said right away said if he comes back you employ him he's your employee not mine I thought so my wife employs a cookie I've convinced him to come back and hopefully he said he was refreshed he had a good break so hopefully and they hit all season oh yeah hide off too when you come in the kitchen yeah I'll run up that stuff oh that's good yeah he's a not a real likable person man he's not a bad cook put it that way but say what you want about Trevor he has made one ladies day I didn't think I'd be is that this definitely dine hats been cooking which is great alright so to later it's tools down and time to celebrate I have a bit of a party every year for a little Melvin's birthday I will just have a cake and a bit of a party and a few drinks when folks have come from all over to live it up with the birthday boy I had a really nice time little milton was just so excited he had a great time didn't go everywhere here what you're shy but obviously it's our normal little kid's birthday party because we don't have other little kids around to invite over so we make a special effort for him and yeah we do come together I'd like to thank everybody for turn up for Dylan it's a new year in a young life and a new season at coolyback and trust me knowing the Joneses they're gonna have a lot more stories to tell on our next trip the Coolibar someone's been playing with matches where this folks with fire let his father's make but the homestead is where the flames are really burning but if the previews will be cooking for ourselves there's lessons to be learned yeah he's in a adults world I guess he doesn't understand that he can't do what everyone else does I'm training to be done don't put down over the top of that chain crew and we're up and cut down off he scare the pants off me as the first cattle master approaching you
