Keep Your Distance - Dr. Charles Wesley Knight

I want to go to God's Word today I'm grateful for the words of introduction and I do have a word today that I want to share with you I know that there is great there is great interest in this issue of the last days and today I want to preach something that I want to come from a text which may be familiar to some maybe to others it's been kind of unfamiliar but I want to preach a last-day message from a text that seems a little bit different and I want to go to 2nd Timothy chapter 3 if you turn with me in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 I'm gonna read verses 1 down through 9 and here in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 1 through 9 I'm going to read from the English standard version I'm gonna give you some time to turn there either in your Bibles or look it up on your devices and then I'm gonna read 2nd Timothy chapter 3 verses 1 through 9 in your hearing now preacher can they still hear me can they still see me because the screen is frozen so I want to make sure that I am still coming through all right 2nd Timothy chapter 3 verses 1 through 9 all right and here's what the word says good all right everyone can hear me but understand this that in the last days there will come times of difficulty for people will be lovers of self lovers of money proud arrogant abusive disobedient to their parents ungrateful unholy heartless unappeasable slanderous without self-control brutal not loving good treacherous reckless swollen with conceit lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of god having the appearance look at what the word says verse 5 having the appearance of godliness but denying its power avoid such people for among them the Bible says for among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women burdened with sins and led astray by various passions always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth look at verse 8 just as Janice and Jan Burris opposed Moses so these kind of men also oppose the truth men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith but they will not get very far for their folly will be plain to all as was that of those two men what a point you attention back to verse 5 having the appearance of godliness but denying its power avoid such people let me pray with you as we go into God's Word and if I could put a tag on this text and give a title to this message I will entitle it keep your distance keep your distance let's pray father I pray that you will open up your word to us give us fresh eyes to understand your will may we simply not just be hearers of this word today but doers of this word for we ask it in the name of Jesus amen keep your distance governor Kemp who is the governor of Georgia has lifted the restrictions most of the restrictions in Georgia so that people can leave their houses go back to work go back to the shopping malls fill the restaurants and return to life as normal even though healthcare professionals doctors physicians public health experts and scientists alike have warned of the great possibility of a resurgence of the kovat 19 virus he is still lifted the restrictions so that people can go back to life as normal the thing is during this pandemic as you well know as you are experiencing right now we have been told to keep our distance because it is not safe to be around people because we don't know who's carrying the virus however the motivation for our governor and many of the governor's who have lifted these very important restrictions the reason they've lifted them is for the fear of losing something precious and in this case it is their economy but they have done so lifting these restrictions for fear of permanently damaging the economy in done so in such a way that they have put their citizens in harm's way the fear of losing stay with me something precious causes them to lift the restriction to lift the restriction of and the instruction and admonition to keep our distance in a real sense our governor and some of the governors around this country because they are afraid of losing something that is important to them have now said it's okay to come close to make connection to interact with people who may give something dangerous to you the fear specifically of powerful white people who have more to lose in this loss of the economy has caused them to put pressure on the governor here in Georgia so that people can enter back into transactions and connections and relation so they are willing to put citizens at risk here's what I'm trying to say here's where I'm going this morning sometimes keeping your distance is the right thing to do sometimes keeping your distance is the considerate thing to do and sometimes keeping your distance is the spiritual thing to do now if you're still with me I want you to go back in the text with me because this text right here in 2nd Timothy 3 starts off with talking about the last days Paul writing to the young preacher Timothy says but understand this ah church I want you to get this he says Timothy I want you to understand this in these last days Paul's right there in these last days see usually when we as Christians particularly we as Adventists talk about the last days what do we talk about we talk about wars and rumors of wars we talk about pestilence we talk about geological and geographical turmoil we talk about plagues and disease and all of these are true they can be found particularly in the book of Matthew chapter 24 all of these things are true and in a real sense many of these things have already come to pass the Bible tells us also both between Daniel and revelation tells us about the formation and the cooperation of political and religious powers and how they will conspire to bring about spiritual confusion to systematize a form of godliness that is far from being godly all of this is true all of this most of us have heard all of this are things that both daniel and revelation the prophecies of jesus and the prophecies of other prophets have pointed towards whenever we talk about the last days this is what you hear of chaos calamity of cataclysmic events and apocalyptic happenings we hear of doomsday a situations where things will be going awry upheaval in homes upheaval in the nation appeal in the world but here in 2nd Timothy 3 I hope you're leaning into this here in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 Paul gives us another sign of the fact that we are already in the end times and here in 2nd Timothy 3 he does not mention wars or rumors of wars he does not mention plagues or pestilence what he mentions is something that we rarely if ever talked about when referring to the last days if you're still with me wherever you are shout yes here's what it says 2nd Timothy 3:1 in the last days there will come mmm a KJV says it perilous times there will come perilous times and and and if you've been in a church for a while we like to use that I like the way the KJV says that perilous times but isn't it interesting that whenever we use the phrase perilous times we never attach the phrase to the original context in which Paul preaches it we lift the phrase perilous times and attach it to war we attach it to the papacy we attach it to what the White House is doing we attach it to - to all of these political happenings but look in your Bible People of God and look at what Paul says he describes what happens in perilous times verse 2 for people will be lovers of themselves lovers of money proud arrogant abusive disobedient to parents ungrateful unholy heartless do you see what Paul here is doing Paul says you will know you are in the last days because you will have a proliferation of unhealthy dangerous toxic people Wow to sit with that for a minute I want you to sit with that for a minute because once again we think of the last days we're looking for events what Paul says is you need to look out for dangerous toxic people the proliferation of evil in the lives of people around you will tell you you are in these last days what kinds of people he explains who they are lovers of self that means selfish and self-centered arrogant lovers of money abusive disobedient to their parents ungrateful heartless unappeasable slanderous no self-control and brutal both with their words with their hands and even with their policies notice notice this that Paul is trying to focus Timothy and our attention on the fact that the last days is not just about events but it's also about how people treat you oh I want you to get this I should have warned you before we started this word that the way that you often think about the last days I'm gonna challenge you not that those things aren't true we've established daniel and revelation we know what the prophecies are but here is something that Paul is pointing out that most of us are missing in these last days I want you to see this read through the New Testament and almost every time the end times are talked about specifically about from Jesus and from Paul whenever Paul in Jesus referenced the last days you will notice that almost every time they connect it to how people treat each other in fact if you don't believe me go to Matthew 25 in fact you only have to go there I can tell you what it says you can read it later in Matthew 25 near the end of the chapter as Jesus is talking about the last days this discussion that he begins in Matthew 24 you will notice at the end of Matthew 25 there is this section where Jesus talks about when he terms how he will judge the nations if you're still with me you shout yes where you are and right there it says that Jesus reveals his method of judgment and separation in the last days look what it says he says he will bring all the nations together he'll separate them the Sheikh he'll separate them like a shepherd separates them sheep and goats on the right he'll put the sheep on the left he puts the goats then he turns to the Sheep on the right the people who represent those who live like him and he will say enter into my eternal Kingdom that has been prepared for you from the beginning of time now don't miss what he's doing here then he tells you how he makes the distinction between the sheep and the goats and I hope the church hears this today because we've been using a different measurement of how we make a distinction between those who go into the eternal Kingdom and those who are eternally lost notice it is not what they no notice it's not what they they keep notice it is none of that is mentioned Jesus qualifies it by saying the way he makes a distinction between the say the eternally saved and the eternally lost is how they treat each other I want you to sit with that for just a minute you said well preacher would you get that from keep reading he says it right there Matthew 25 when he talks about the sheep and the ghost watch what he says he says he says those who enter into the kingdom are those who when he was thirsty gave him something to drink when he was hungry gave him food to eat when he was naked gave him clothes to wear when he was in prison visited him see we keep missing this in the last days in this conversation about the last days we keep talking about events Jesus is talking about relationship and not just relationship to him it's not just about how you holla and how you throw up your hands and how you get emotional when your spiritual song is played and how you worship God when when you feel like worshipping God is not just about your doctrine but he says it's the way you treat people and then he says this the least of these it's the way you treat those who are vulnerable and marginalize those who don't have your money those who don't have your title in other words let me say this plainly so you don't miss what I'm saying Jesus says the measurement that he uses in the last days for those who will be eternally saved and those who will be eternally lost is not what you know not that doctrine you keep not even the commandments you keep but this commandment and that is to love your neighbor as you love yourself that is the measurement it's how we treat people so I want you to go back now and I want you to go back second mp3 and watch what happens because we're talking about the last days Paul tells Timothy Paul tells Timothy he said when you see those kinds of people and let me qualify something here so that you don't misunderstand what I'm saying what Paul is talking about to Timothy is he's saying when you come up with people when you meet people when you meet people who are who are have a pattern of being ungodly who have a pattern of not being thoughtful who have a pattern of being ruthless and treacherous who have a pattern of slandering and talking about other people here's what he says it's right you're here in your word verse 5 avoid such people I don't hear nobody pray for me I don't hear nobody shouting on that CC we weren't ready to see when we talked about the last days we want to talk about evangelism and God does say that he says go preach the gospel that discuss will be preached to the whole world and then the end shall come that's part of what we're called to do but can I tell you there's another thing that we're not doing as the church there's something that we're not practicing in the body of Christ there's something that we're not practicing watch this that's hindering ability to preach the gospel to live the gospel to be the light of the world in a dark world and it is this we are not practicing spiritual distancing there are too many of us who are attached to toxic people too many of us who are in deep relationship with dangerous people they are sapping our joy they are sapping our strength they are taking away our focus I watch this preacher how do we why is this important in the last days see Paul tells Timothy he said in the last days you need to be so focused on what you need to be teaching and preaching and living you will not have time to deal with people who are recalcitrant people who will not repent people who will not change you've got to learn to keep your distance is how he said it he said avoid such people now let me work with this because some of you are struggling with this message you're struggling you're struggling because you've been taught somewhere in Sabbath school be nice to everybody you've been taught somewhere in your homes that you ought to just allow people to be who they are and just love them with the love of Jesus yes you ought to be nice but we've got to requalified and redefine what nice is can I ask you is it nice to let ungodly people continue to be ungodly to you and ungodly in your family and ungodly in your church and nobody says nothing - is it kind to allow people to continue to live their lives any way they want to damage people destroy relationships wreak havoc in the church cause division and all kinds of nonsense in the church and nobody says anything is it Christian really is it Christian to allow people to continue to malign you to slander you to talk about you behind your back and no one ever confronts them and calls them into accountability I answer you know it is not it is not Christian it is not trying it is not loving it's not even God like the truth is Paul is trying to tell Timothy in these last days part of your mission is to yes preach the gospel but part of your other but another part of your mission is to give opportunity for people who habitually continue to to reject the anointing to reject the revelation to reject the mercy and the grace of God he says your assignment is to avoid such people I don't hear nobody say nothin to me I see a few of you I see a few of you you wrestling with me you now stay with me because I'm going somewhere I know what you're saying I know what some of you are saying and I want to say this very plainly and clearly because I I know you this is this is hard because you've been conditioned watch this you've been conditioned with an erroneous understanding of your Christian duty in how to love yes you are called the four-year but Paul is not talking about forgiveness here yes you are called to show mercy appalling talking about mercy right here that's somewhere else in the letter right here he's saying there's an assignment you need to be careful that you do in the last days and that is keep distance keep spiritual distance from toxic people why you might be saying well uh what about the fact that they need to know what love looks like I hear you that they just need to know someone loves them I hear your rationale your reasoning they had too many people walk away from them I can't walk away from them because if I do they won't have anybody I want you to see something look at the text it's there in verse five because here's something you got to understand these kinds of people Paul is talking about are not the people you are called to minister to not in the way you think could it be that your greatest ministry is to practice spiritual distancing so that they can become aware of their true state could it be that your ministry as Paul is telling young Timothy is that you've got to give them an opportunity to realize their behavior is both destructive to the community and to themselves look up attacks in Versailles having the appearance of godliness but denying the power thereof I will say it again having the appearance of godliness but denying the power thereof you know what blows my mind pastor George you know what blows my mind People of God as you're listening to this know what blows my mind breath of life is that we use text out of context therefore we lose the power of the text see I have heard people in church and I've done this myself I'm guilty of this myself of using this phrase they have the form of godliness but denying the power there are and we apply it to all kinds of different things but that text is in the context of how to deal with difficult people so down preacher what do you mean what Paul is saying is is that these people who act like this who are heartless who are ruthless who are treacherous who are slanderous these people who don't have self-control they're always hurting you and they don't care these people that he describes they are believers they are so-called Christians they have a form of godliness Paul is not talking about people who don't go to church that's not who he's describing here he's not talking about people who don't have an availability to hear the truth he is not talking about people who are ignorant of what is right watch this he says they have a form of godliness when you were going to the sanctuary when you were going to the building for worship they came with you when you are on the program and you were reading scripture they were on the platform with you these are people who have a form of godliness and Paul is saying in the last days there will be people who have a form of godliness go to church understand understand doctrine money didn't came up in church but some of those people have habitual ways of mistreating people and you have got to keep your distance I'm not talking about I'm not talking about people who make a mistake cuz all of us make a mistake I'm not talking about people who who said something they misspoke they said something that they should not have said and they repented I'm not talking about people who who have a fall and and and they do something that they should not have done or they hurt you and they didn't know that they hurt you I'm not talking about that what what Paul is talking about is those people who keep doing it over and over and over again can i free you here today breath of life can I help you understand what God is calling you to you've got to understand this when you see people who are recalcitrant unrepentant unflinching unchanging you know what I'm talking about that person in church who's been raising hell for 20 years raising hell for 10 years and the church has given a death a death ear and a blind eye and has turned and stuck their head in the sand and in a real sense allowed them to wreak havoc in the church you know what I'm talking about those kinds of people watch this they are not candidates for conversation the people who keep hurting you and every time you get off the phone watch this you feel less peace that when you got on the phone you feel more agitated and you even start taking it out on people around you who weren't even on the phone y'all know what I'm talking about they are not the folks that you waste your time talking to you I'm talking about those people who not only work your nerves but they work your peace they work your joy they work your understanding of who you are that when you're around them you are not your best self that when you're in conversation with them it changes the trajectory your thought patterns are altered the Holy Ghost is preaching here today what he's telling you is leave those folks alone these are not the people you put up with these are not the people you keep dating these are lots of people you have close proximity to these are not the people you let keep your children these are not the people you let to your sacred space why because the Bible says they have a watch this form of godliness they look like they could be trustworthy because they say the name of Jesus they look like you can be in relationship with them because they go to the same church they look like they're safe because after all they keep the Sabbath but that's not what Paul says he says if you see this kind of behavior it doesn't matter what they believe it doesn't matter what doctrines they keep it doesn't matter what day they go to church if they are habitually like this if they are consistently like this you ought to keep your distance why because they already know what grace looks like but they've denied the power thereof they already know what love looks like and they've turned it down they already know what mercy looks like because you've forgiven them time after time after time and they still keep running amok doing crazy things and acting all crazy and starting drama they already know what love looks like and they've turned it down watch this you stickin in there with them hasn't changed them yet has it right you've having a hundred thousand conversations about the same thing hasn't changed them yet husband here's what I want you to ponder if Jesus gave the power and the presence of His Holy Spirit who works in every human being to bring them to repentance please hear me today if the Holy Spirit has not been able to change them yet what makes you think you can who made you more powerful more influential stronger than God how is your friendship going to change them when the Holy Spirit couldn't do it yet how is your phone call I'm gonna make them come to their senses how is staying in the romantic relationship loving them to life has it worked yet it hasn't been working they're still verbally abusive they still don't give you compliments in fact they're still making you feel less than who you know doubt has called you to be here is what Paul tells you do in these last days you've got to avoid such people and practice spiritual distancing because I want you to get this look at the text verse I've denying the power there are there is a difference between ignorance and denial see when I'm ignorant of something I don't know what I'm doing that's when people hurt you when they say hurtful things to you and we've all had this and they say something to you they they said something to hurt your feelings they might not have you've known that's ignorant they did not know that that was a soft spot they did not know that that was a tender place in your life they did not know and even sometimes even sometimes they can end up stepping on your toe and didn't even know they stepped on your toe my bad my mistake that's ignorant but denial is something different denial is when I I am I have the availability the ability to understand but I deny it I push it away and this text says the reason you got to avoid such people is is that they know what they're doing they just deny the power of the Holy Ghost that's telling them not to do it see okay get some church people cuz some of y'all think that the people in your church who taught all the time who gossip all the time don't know what they're doing they know exactly what they're doing they know that they're camouflaging their gossip in the language of prayer requests they know exactly what they're doing they know they're manipulative and controlling and if we don't stand up and begin to practice spiritual distancing they'll never have the opportunity to see that what they are doing is not the will of God this is why he says avoid such people because the power is available understand this the same power that made you say you're sorry when you messed up is available for them to say sorry the same power available that caused you to start treating that person right is the same power available to them same power available at was made available to make you humble and to humble yourself when you knew and found out that you are wrong is the same power to humble them the same power available to make you kind and considerate and self-controlled is the same power that is available to them they just deny the power and when you see consistent denial of the power God says Paul teaches the Bible says avoid such people now may I point out to you that this is something that I know the church is not practicing because you can see it you can see it even in the relationship between evangelicals and the president one of the problems I have with the Religious Right with the Christian conservatives and the vast majority of evangelical Christians is that they see this wicked consistent behavior that is outlined in second Timothy 3 they see this behavior these characteristics exemplified in the personality and behavior and conduct of mr. Trump they see as his behavior they see his pride they see his lack of self-control they see his lack his love of money his love of power they see his abusiveness and the fact that he swelled up with conceit and yet they support him yet they excuse him and yet they vote for him this is in direct disobedience to scripture because Paul says avoid such people yet they have attached their wagons to his train they continue to cause them to to cause him to believe that because of their support Christian support that he is in a real sense enabled and emboldened to continue to act this way and and and and watch this I know why this happens you see when you love doctrine more than people when you love power more than people when you love money more than people you will allow you will say it's okay for people to be put in Chains and cages coming from South America it's okay as a church we will we will give deaf ears and a blind eye to what is coming out of the White House policies that hurt people that marginalize people that take away their rights that cause people people to be subjugated and oppressed you see whenever you are lovers of yourself more than lovers of God you will you will cut it will cause you to attach yourself to dangerous people but please don't judge these are evangelicals too harshly just yet because some of you are doing exactly what they do some of you are attached to people who are hurting you if you're so with me shot yes I'm almost done Mama's done just type yes I want you to hear this I want you to hear this some of you don't realize that what God has called you to do is to practice what psychologists and social scientists say what they call boundaries now I didn't lead with that because whenever we hear boundaries in our Christian are I should say our Western Christian idea of what Christianity is our westernized and Europeanized and and this popular culture view of Christianity whenever we hear boundaries we put up our defenses because we believe and we have been taught that boundaries means that you keep people out who need the gospel of Jesus they need your kindness they need your love they need your mercy what we do not understand is is that boundaries is not a way of pushing people away but boundaries is actually a way of saying yes to God by saying no to toxic people who are taking away from what God has given us I want you to catch this see when you when you avoid such people when you track this spiritual distancing it gives you the power to say yes to what God has already called you to because some of you know what I'm talking about there are certain things you haven't done yet that God has called you to do because you're spending most of your time trying to change people when God has never called you to change them your work is not to change people and some of us have gotten some of us huh my wife likes to say this way some of us have taken away the job of the Holy Spirit to such a point that the Holy Spirit has a sign saying give me my job back it could be that the Holy Spirit is in the unemployment line asking for employment because so many church people have taken his job because we have stepped into his role what role you talking about preacher we have stepped into the role of the Holy Spirit to try to change people's mind that is not your job it's not your role it's not your responsibility boundaries allow you to say yes to God's will by saying no to toxic people and this is part of what we're called to do in these last days in fact in fact let me in here now in this way so that you can understand what I'm saying I believe it's there in Matthew 10 where Jesus sends out his disciples Jesus sends out his disciples the first time and they're going out with a mission to preach the gospel Jesus tells them he says here's what I want you to do he says I want you to preach the gospel I want you to cast out demons I want you to heal people in my name he even says I want you to resurrect the dead I'm giving you power as I'm sending you out I'm giving you a thority and when you go out to preach the gospel on this first preaching mission I don't want you to take you remember this story he says I don't want you to take money I don't want I don't want you to take two coats one who did I don't want you to take a lot of things because everything you need will be provided here's your mission he says go out and preach the gospel but here's what we miss we love talking about the evangelism and preaching the gospel but watch what Jesus tells them he says here's what you need to do when you go to a town find out where you can stay he says find out watch these words who is worthy he said when you get to their house he said give them your peace he says say peace unto them bestow unto them missus that peace had bestowed unto you because watch this Jesus says as he sends us out to be light in the world he gives us peace that we can be able to bestow to everybody we come into contact with so he says when you get to the house you you tell them peace be unto you bestow into them your peace but then he says but if you find they are not worthy woo I wish God's people were here if you find they are not worthy here's what he says he says take back your peace and leave that place he says if they don't want to receive what you have to say if you've given them mercy you've given them grace you reasoned with them and they don't want to hear he does not say stick around and try to convince them he does not say stick around and just tough it out with them he does not say he does not say stick around and try to convince them or do the work of the Holy Spirit he says take back your peace shake the dust of your feet and go somewhere else now why is it the people of God don't want to practice that because we believe that we can do the work of the Holy Ghost Jesus says I'm sending you out to raise people up from the dead I'm sending you out to preach the gospel I'm sending you out to heal people from the sick but what I'm not sending you out is to allow people to have your peace who are not worthy of it oh that's a word for somebody today he said before you leave take back your peace and I guess what I'm trying to say is some of you are anxious in these last things some of you are worried in these last things I want to let you know where your worries coming from could it be that it's not so much what's happening with the pandemic and not so much what's happening at the White House and not so much what's happening in the country and not so much what's happening in the world could it be that your anxiety is coming from the fact that you left your peace with somebody who doesn't deserve it you left your peace in a place of confusion and you've moved on and the reason you don't have peace is your peace is in your last relationship your peace is with that person in your family your peace is with that person on your job your peace is with that person that was not worthy of it here's the words of Jesus he says get back your peace avoid such people and put some distance between you all because when you put distance between them you can get your peace back you can get your hope back why so that you can do what I asked you to do what Jesus is telling them is you can't preach this gospel in these last days to everyone if you stressed out because of your family you work your your your you're tired and you're worn out because of the people in your church because the people you keep trying to get another another chance God says forgive them forgiveness does not require for you to be in relationship you forgive them you lose them you cancel the debt you move on in Jesus name but you do not he says do not allow yourself to be attached to people like that here's what I want to say and I'm ending here Jesus told them he said you get your peace back and you move on because what I've called you to is greater than that which you are spending your time and trying to fix some of you are attached to projects instead of loving people some of you are trying to work out things change people that God never asked you to change and one of the signs Paul tells Timothy in the last days is that you're gonna have these people they will be around you they will know truth he says in verse seven they will know truth there are always money but they never change God says Paul says Jesus says get your peace back you're gonna need it in these last days get your piece back you're gonna need it so you can focus on what God has called you to do get your piece back you're going to need it because you can't really say yes to everything God has called you to do until you say no to the things that are taking your attention your energy and even your peace here's the word of the Lord for you today as restrictions may be lifted across the country for social distancing God has not lifted the restriction of God's people he says when you're dealing with people who will not change keep your distance and I'll fill the gap let give me an opportunity stop rescuing them from the consequences of their own choices let me get in the gap keep your distance and let me feel in the space between me between you and them so that I can show them the consequences of their choices today as we as we conclude this messages as we live in these times this is why this message is relevant because in this time of isolation you are going to be tempted to go back to to give a pass to to go into prematurely to lift restrictions from people because of kovat 19 because you want the connection because you you crave and miss the interaction well Jesus is saying here is keep your distance so that I can draw near to them and I'm praying for you today in these last days that you will keep your distance that you will get your peace back so that you can do what God called you to do to preach this gospel to the whole world I want to pray for you even now because what this word is asking you to do is difficult because for some of you these P are in your family for some of these people for some of you some of these people are in your small group in your Sabbath School class they're part of your ministry team for some of you some of these people live in your household they will not change they will not change God is going to give you the grace to show them grace but keeping your distance so that he can have his way in areas you can't change father right now in the name of Jesus I thank you for your word through Paul to us to your church today these last days are indeed perilous times but it's not just because of what's happening in our nation not just because of what's happening in nature and in society and in culture it's also because of the difficulty in our relationships Lord I pray right now that you will give somebody the strength give somebody to wherewithal give them Lord the insight and the discernment give them the strength and the courage to say no to certain people who have been holding them back from saying yes to their divine assignment I pray God that you give them godly spiritual boundaries help them Lord to be able to put a place of separation of distance between them and people who are draining them of their spiritual resources and help them to know that that does not negate forgiveness but that forgive they can forgive from afar they can release them from any kind of responsibility to make it up to them help them to know that forgiveness does not necessitate reconciliation you are the one who reconciles and I pray God that you will give them patience to let you get in the space so that you can change hearts and minds Lord make us like Timothy to be focused so that we can do the work you've called us to
