Kayak Rack for Garage Storage

[Music] hey everyone we gotta go outside and organize the garage today because apparently it's not cool to do this right here so we're not allowed to have this inside the house so what we got to do is come out here and get this mess taken care of so we got this right here that right there that over there it's all got to get taken care of um before too long this one's going to be leaving us but still we need some space and today what we're going to do i mean i can barely move around inside this garage okay there we go did not kill myself well there's no picture on this box but you can see what it is right there that is going on the wall [Music] now what we got to concentrate on is finding the stud finder so that we can mount those things right up here we'll set the kayak right up over here to kind of get an idea of where we want those things to sit at but first let's find the stud finder oh here we go this thing right here is only capable of holding up a hundred pounds it says or a hundred pounds for each kayak so let's just say 200 pounds so you got an upper rack and a lower rack obstructions i think it's self-explanatory though so the idea behind it just like that right there and now the kayaks rest on the wall yeah so the website says 200 pounds it's built for two kayaks i honestly think that it's probably 100 pounds per it's like you're not going to throw one 200 pound kayak on one like the lower level or the upper level on one of the levels it's not going to hold 200 pounds at least that's what i'm thinking and this kayak is supposed to be like 80 something pounds and then with the drive it exceeds 100 so i'm keeping the fingers crossed now what we're going to do is take the level and since that's got a straight edge on it we're going to make some vertical lines to figure out or to not figure out but to mark those studs that are right behind that sheetrock and then we'll drill these fellows in [Music] these lag screws are good they're they're gonna go inside and sink their teeth inside the stud however the fender washers these are garbage i don't know what it's gonna hold so i've got a solution maybe i don't have the solution these are thick but the lag screw completely goes through it so yeah there's their washers are really good i kind of need to see how tall the kayak is from the ground up to the very top of the gunnel because i don't need it to bump into the garage door opener [Music] and that's the finished product y'all got them leveled mounted the same height and let's just hope that it's going to hold two of these kayaks right here for right now until we get christian's kayak from old town which is going to be the salty pdl which will go on the top rack and my autopilot 120 down there is going to go on this bottom rack the website said on amazon that it was going to be able to hold 200 pounds so common sense tells me 100 for the top 100 for the bottom that's what i was getting at i'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it holds it because this is a very simple clean easy solution to getting them off the deck right over here now we're going to have a lot more space we'll still be able to get the skiff in here i'm hoping i don't know i'm hoping because if we can't that's something i didn't think about if we can't get the skiff right up next against this thing then i'm going to have to make new holes and raise it up ah i didn't think about that all i thought about was making sure that the kayak didn't interfere with our garage door up there when it comes in but let's get one of the kayaks up here let me get the kids out to help me not fit yeah um no no no leave the crate on we'll just put it on the very top can you one it back a bit uh yeah yeah okay y'all let's just hope that it does hold it but it looks good and it fits up there perfect we'll get the second kayak out of the billiard room go back your way a little bit more oh my god that's a lot of weight up there y'all all right let's put the garage back [Music] together [Music] it fits thank goodness i was thinking it wasn't gonna be able to fit but it does we have all this space right here oh yeah that is a very clean look right there it'll be hard to get back there but nonetheless i'd rather just deal with that for the meantime until after i'm done testing the other skiff and then all of where the h skiff is all this is gonna be clear space very happy with the turnout looks really good the uh upper or no that's my kayak the lower kayak which belongs to nick will be going back to him and then once we get the salty that one can go there or vice versa i'm not too sure yeah the the kayak crate will be able to come down now that i'm looking at it that should be able to come down and we'll put the lower or the heavier kayak lower because it just it's a uh a shorter fall if if that thing was to give way it's gonna be a small fault in comparison to way up there but uh yeah let's get the garage cleaned back up
