They actually sell Kadee couplers! very noice some JR Freight containers you can buy axles too Below the displays, there's a sheet I think this is where you order the trains cats dogs JACKPOT Kitsune = Foxes Yet another layout! This time it's in HO Gauge so bigger than others There was also this mini-museum display KATO's beginnings KATO is actually just the brand name of Sekisui Metal Funny they used blueboxes too like Athearn blueboxes Mr. Yuji Kato, Founder of Sekisui Metal, KATO An old Kato starter set They also show different mechanisms of parts of their trains In Rail-Navi, someone drill a hole and modified to make electrical detail showing off some mods Here's a cool snowy set very icy Yet ANOTHER layout! this time we've got some steamies in a roundhouse There's also a 2nd Floor You can see the main layout from above a PECO display Some Announcements/NEW stuff UP Big Boy N scale is def cool this time I'll show you the back display of their figures Another diorama The 2nd floor also has another main layout It's quite large as well some PECO track on display (PECO is from the UK) I didn't know KATO was friends with them There's even a PECO book about German Railways hehe English! I can read this This is like the 3rd or 4th time we've seen this little fella I believe you are allowed to run trains on this layout kinda empty when I came though... but there was someone running this freight train I've never seen this one before! Those big green balls are gas tanks (They are in so many Japanese cities) Their controllers look silvery The main station and railyard le workshop shed too bad can't see inside it There's also this green barrier inbetween Says Don't touch trains or Layout! and don't move this step thing I think this explains how to use the layout I think you have to buy something in the shop to run trains Here's a close to ground view They also sell GRASS some really tiny desk layouts just cool little decorative pieces neko lucky cat Also in the 2nd floor is... A big locomotive I wonder if it's live steam It says it's from the Nippon Institute of Technology a JNR class 9600 and it's 5-inch Gauge, 1:10 scale Yet ANOTHERRRR layout in the back If you look closely in the background, there's Thomas & Friends stuff Japan loves Thomas the Tank Engine Just thought it was funny seeing Thomas randomly but this place probably popular with kids so it makes sense There's a KATO brand industrial mill thing and here's the last of the layout Riding the bus back, here's what I got Yamanote Line is truly the best So I hope you guys enjoyed my tour of Hobby Center KATO Tokyo It was very interesting to look at all the different trains! They had so many models on display It's actually kinda like a museum and a model train store combined I was surprised they had other brand products like Tomix and even American ones like Kadee Couplers and Micro-Trains KATO and Japan in general mainly deals with N Scale or as they say in Japanese Which is N Gauge because most of the trains in real life run on narrow gauge track with the exception of the Shinkansen which uses standard gauge so they sorta have two different scales 1:150 Scale for Narrow gauge and 1:160 Scale for Shinkansen They both run on the same N-Gauge track But since I don't collect N Scale trains I just picked up some HO Scale Unitrack including that new KATO Unitrack that's adjustable crossing, bumpers, extension wires, and some foxes The cool thing about being a foreigner in Japan You can products tax-free if you show your passport Although you have to spend a minimum of ¥5000 or $35 Plus USD is stronger than JPY so things can be cheaper Definitely if you are into model trains and you are in Japan, check this place out I was in Japan for 10 days on vacation So I have a couple more videos, so stay tuned for that! This is very different from the videos that I typically do so let me know in the comments what you guys think! Hit the Like button, subscibe if you haven't already and I'll see you guys in the next one bye!
