[Music] hi team i hope you're all well today i am going to be doing june's tbr please excuse my face and the way i look i have not been very well coming out the back of a viral infection so uh just excuse the mess um but we are going to be doing june's tbr using my vocabulary board and this month i have a readathon that i'm taking part in which i'm really really excited which is whatever-a-thon which is hosted by maddie from book browsing blog i will leave a link to maddie's channel down below and to whatever athons twitter as well so you can go and check that out if you want to sign up there is still time it is a month-long read-a-thon and i'm really excited i am one of the hosts as well and i am one of the co-captains for camp contemporary along with india and i'm so excited i cannot wait i'm really excited to read quite a bit of contemporary in the month of june as well i could really do the palette cleanser so this is perfect um so i'm really really hyped and yeah i am looking forward to it other than that i'm not specifically taking part in another readathon but there is also the clear your readathon and romantic fun so if i get chance to take part in those i will but i don't want to put too much pressure on i still i'm kind of coming out of the back of 30 books in 30 days in april and then having a very heavy fantasy month in may as well as being poorly and going away so a mix of things is meaning that i'm feeling not slumpy but struggling a little bit so i just need to pick my feet back up again i feel like i'm dragging my feet a little bit need to pick them back up again and i'll be feeling better and i may take part in romance-a-thon and also clear your which i will leave links to the information down below for both of those as well so um very quick thing before we get on i have made some new cards for chance on my board because it was getting to a point where the chance cards were a book a mix of books that i was really interested in reading and mix of books that i wasn't interested in reading in and it was starting to just not interest me anymore and i wanted more challenges so i swapped these out for more challenges so on these we have a mix of challenges we have we have becca's own whole project which is essentially um a bit like essentially becca's own whole project but i've done my own version there is a video coming up for that very very soon so keep your eyes open um we also have a treat your shelf which i have on the community shelf cards as well a free pass which means that i don't need to put a book on for that one so that would be really handy on heavy months um lowest rated highest rated um finisher series and a small book because on community shelf we have a big book so yeah i just wanted to mix these up i've also caught an extra some extra ones of these up as well so that i can make some more if i want to but yeah i just kind of preferred the challenges rather than the um you know a book that i really want to read in a book that i don't really want to read because that for me can change from month to month so um yeah i wanted to mix that up a little bit so without further ado let's find out how many rolls we are going to have for the month of june so as always let's give the d diet a roll we got eight i don't know if you can see that there you go we got eight so the dnd die gave us eight rolls which is you know fine i have pledged 10 books for whatever-a-thon i think i will be able to do more than that but i didn't want to push myself too hard and obviously you get extra points for any books you read more than what you pledge so um that should be fine that should be brilliant depending upon how many doubles we get um but without further ado let's get into roll number one okay so last time we ended on lgbtq plus rep that's where we're going to start this time and roll number one is four one two three four and middle grade so for roll number one we got a middle grade and for this one i wanted to pick something that was contemporary i i have already read middle grade monthly's book for june which is me and my dad at the end of the rainbow i absolutely loved it i highly recommend picking that one up if you get the chance to do so but i have already read it so for this one i'm gonna be picking up star crossed by barbara d and this is a queer contemporary middle grade we're following a 13 year old girl called matty who's thrilled when she learns the eighth grade play will be romeo and juliet um in particular she's excited to share the stage with gemma braithwaite who has been cast as julia gemma is brilliant and matty starts to see her more than just a friend even though matty has also had an often on crush on her classmate elijah since well forever is it possible to have a crush on both boys and girls if that wasn't enough to deal with due to last-minute emergency matty is asked to step in as romeo opposite gemma's juliet just as matty's secret crush starts to become no more not so secret in her group of friends in this funny sweet and clever look at the complicated nature of middle school romance mata learns how to be a lead player in her own life i'm so excited for this it sounds adorable this literally sounds like a middle grade right up maddie street if i'm being honest because it's got you know theatre in it and it's queer and it's a middle grade i might have to recommend this one to her but i'm really excited about this one i've had it on my shelves for a while and i got this recommendation from chelsea from chelsea dollar reads so i'm really looking forward to picking this one up so i'm glad this prompt has come up rule number two is eight one two three four five six seven eight a graphic novel or manga nice rule number two was for a graphic novel or manga and for this one i don't own physically many um contemporary graphic novels i really want to try and keep my tbr as contemporary as i possibly can to be in line with my team so i am going to go for a graphic novel that i don't own but i am part way through the series and that's giant days i think i'm up to giant days volume four i will show the correct volume here but essentially giant days follows three girls who are in uni and um it's basically following them with day-to-day life it's like a slice-of-life thing very contemporary very mundane but i enjoy it nonetheless because it's so relatable it's very very good series and i highly recommend it rule number three it's a double and it is double five so we've got ten one two three four five six seven eight nine ten a trans card what did we get becca's unhaul project okay nice roll number three brought us a double and also a chance card so for this one we ended up with a becca on whole project which uh this is the first time i'll be doing this i'm really excited because at this point i don't think you will have seen my tbr card for my own whole project so let's just uh swivel you around a little bit tada on her project um so for this i would really like a contemporary um if i could get one that's an audio book as well you know i think i'm gonna go for the love square because i've had this on here for ages and um essentially my own whole project just for a very brief rundown is a bunch of books that i'm interested in reading in still or maybe i'm i'm on the fence about but i don't think that i'll keep afterwards and i'm just not reaching for them because i am interested in them but i'm just not as excited about them as i am other stuff so i wanted to isolate them off my shelf so that i kind of focus on them a little bit more maybe and i can maybe make videos out of it and things like that so that's why i've done it um but for this one we're going to go for the love square by laura jane williams yes laura jane williams this is an arc as you can see i didn't read it before it came out unfortunately um i am very behind but i'm really looking forward to this one it sounds really good on the back it just says funny romantic complicated laura jane williams brings a whole new side to the love triangle men are like buses you wait for one um so yeah i am looking forward to this one i've been meaning to read it for a long time as you can see um so yeah we'll be picking that one up rule number four is another double and it is four one two three four a contemporary roll number four brought us another double and this time a contemporary so i'm gonna go for the stars and the blackness between them this is my patreon pick for april and no not april for may and june because it's queer and i wanted to pick a queer book for june because it is pride month in the uk and i'm really excited about this one following two girls one is audrey who is in the port of spain trinidad she is heartbroken having found out she's going to live in america with her father because her mother caught her with a secret girlfriend the pastor's granddaughter audrey's grandmother a dancer who drives a white convertible mercedes and has a few secrets of her own reassures audrey that she won't lose her roots not even in some place called minneapolis minneapolis usa mabel is staring at a picture of whitney houston deep in her own feels about a girl jada and the moment that they had in the woods and about the vague sense of illness she's had all summer mabel's daydreaming is cut short when her dad announces that a friend and his just arrived from trinidad's daughter are coming for dinner mabel falls hard and fast for audrey and she's determined to help this beautiful but low-key nerdy girl from the caribbean find her way into america never an easy thing for a black woman as mabel knows but their romance takes a turn when the test results reveal exactly why mabel has been feeling sick all summer suddenly it's audrey who must care for mabel as she faces a deeply uncertain future it sounds really good and i'm really excited about this one and i am obsessed with this cover so yeah really hyped for this one can't wait to pick it up um i'm just loving that there are light little pages in here that are like this so yeah i had to read this one with my patrons and i'm glad i've been able to get it on my tbr roll number five is eight one two three four five six seven eight adult fantasy number five brought us an adult fantasy and for this one i am gonna be picking a buddy read that i'm doing with jade so i'm gonna be picking up the alloy of law by brandon sanderson we are gonna be reading miss borne era 2 together so i'm really excited we were going to jump onto warbreaker but we've actually decided to read this one first um so yeah really excited about this one and it'd be nice to take it down a notch and read a bit of a smaller book from brandy sandy as well because overall his uh books have been very chunky up until now that we've been reading so i am hyped we're basically both at the same point now i think as well because we've both read elantra's mistborn era one so we've bet we've read the same stuff at this point and so on the back of here i'm just going to read the top part because this could spoil it otherwise i've not read it all the way through but i think this could spoil error one so i'm not going to read the all of the back but on the top it says in schedule ever taller towers race for the clouds and railways and canals crisscross the land but this is still a place of magic i'm really excited about this one i've loved mistborn era one so i'm hyped to continue on to era 2 and yeah really looking forward to buddy reading this with a jade rule number six is three one two three another chance card bloody hell can i come here what are you treat yourself nice i'll take that roll number six is another chance card and this time we got treat yourself so i'm really really excited about this one because i already did the treat when i did the rolls and the books have come so let me tell you what i got i treated myself to verona comics by jennifer duggan which i'm really looking forward to i know maddie's been shouting about this one recently and i've had my eye on this for a really long time she's not been shouted about it recently she's been shouting about it for a long time but it's been on my mind recently so um yeah i'm really excited about this one and then i also got project hail mary by andy weir so if i could read both of these in the month of june that would be awesome i know this is sci-fi but i'm really hyped about both of these books so i'd love to read them both um but otherwise i don't have to it was just a case of treat yourself but i would like to pick them both up but i wanted to show you what i got so that's what i treated myself to rule number seven is three one two three lgbtq plus rep rule number seven was for an lgbtq plus rep book and for this one i'm going for contemporary book clubs pick for the months of may and june which again i wanted to make sure it was a queer book so we are going for all the mostly devastated by sophie gonzalez this is a queer grease reimagining essentially and i'm really excited about it ollie falls for will over the holidays but once summer's ended will stops texting him back enrolled at a new school will school olly finds that affectionate and comfortably queer guy he knew from summer isn't the same when attending collingwood collings collins wood high struggles collins wood high this version of will is a class clown a baseball jock and well a bit of a jerk the last time ollie gave willie's heart will handed it back to him trampled and battered ollie would be a fool to trust him with it again right so i'm really hyped for this one um i've been meaning to pick this up for ages i started it when i first got the book but i just never carried on because i'm an idiot so i'm hyped to pick this one back up roll number eight there's another three one two three a big book what should have been our last roll roll number eight but it's not because we have two doubles since um came up with a big book naturally so obviously this is the perfect opportunity for me to fit on the which lands a long book for the month of june which is blood witch by susan dennard this is a big book this is the chunkiest one so far in the series and this is 560 pages i think um so around that figure anyway it's over 500 pages so it counts as a big book so i'm looking forward to continuing on with this series and i'm having a great time with this so far having a blast and i do still need to pick up sight witch for the month of may so i'm hoping to get to that very soon but yeah blood witch four big book rule number nine is eleven one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven another graphic novel our manga rule number nine was for another graphic novel or manga thank you to the graphic novel and manga gods i appreciate it um instead of going four giant days of volume five which may or may not be in the next book after the one that i finished for the first graphic novel and manga that came up i'm going to go for fence volume 1 which i know i can get on scribd and i've heard great things about i believe it's queer as well which is awesome um so it's contemporary it's queer it's about fencing i know nothing else it's a graphic novel that's all i know so i'm really excited to pick this one up i've heard great things so i cannot wait to read this one and the tenth and hopefully final roll is eleven one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven a pole pick and then finally for roll number ten thank god um for rule number ten we got paul pick and i picked four books and took to twitter i completely lost my mind and didn't do this poll with my patrons so i still need to do that so we don't have the patreon book pick in this tbr but i will let you know throughout the month but i took it to twitter for this one and uh let twitter and whateverathon choose my book for me so my options were kiss my cupcake by helena hunting we had sweethand by angie peltier we had love in other words by christina lauren and then we had one true loves by taylor jenkins read and one true loves by taylor drinking's read one and this out of all of them actually was the one i was least looking forward to um so this i'm interested in but i just don't know if it's gonna be up my street we'll see a breathtaking love story about a woman unexpectedly forced to choose between the husband she has long thought dead and the fiance who has finally brought her back to life it does sound really interesting but out of the four of them this was the one i was least interested in but alas here we are so that is the final book that's going on to my book opeli tbr so overall this is looking pretty good that's really achievable and we have one two three four five six seven books here because two are going to be graphic novels as well and one of them is a treat yourself so um yeah i'm finding that this will be very achievable i'm very excited um so on top of this there are prompts for whatever-a-thon i am not solidifying this tbr by any means shape or form this will change i have zero doubts about it but i just thought that i would fill in the prompts um with some books that i'm interested in reading and let you know a general tbr of the prompts that are around so there are 15 prompts you can double up thank goodness um and yeah let me tell you about some of them because not all of them are going to be books off of my booklet tbr so the first one is pride flag this is to pick a book that has a pride flag influence somewhere in it um it doesn't have to be an actual pride flag it can just be the colours of the book can look like a certain type of flag or something like that but i am actually going to go for one that does have pride colours on it and i'm going to go for camp by elsie rosen because how ridiculous would it be to have this on my shelves unread be camp contemporary and not pick up camp am i stupid or what so this is what i'm picking up for this one and this is a why a contemporary i know i said in one of my recent reading vlogs that i was going to stay away from wire contemporaries but it's on my shelves and it needs reading so we're going to give it a go um so this is a why a contemporary that is following 16 year old randy who loves spending summer in camp outland um a camp for queer teens um it's where he meets his best friends it's where he takes the stage in a big musical and it's where he fell for hunky hudson aaronson lim who's the um who's only into straight acting guys and barely knows randy even exists however he changes his entire personality and persona for the following year and um tries to get hudson to fall in love with him um and then realizes that that's probably a silly thing to do so it sounds really really interesting and i'm looking forward to picking this one up then we have reread and for this one i am to be fair i'm rereading the whole series um we're kind of myself in india we both have one of these books on our favorite list and it would be silly not to try and reread the whole series so i'm rereading the whole series but for this one specifically i'm gonna pick danny brown um because it makes sense later on i will explain why but yeah for that one i'm picking danny brown for a five-star prediction i did have a butcher's at my actual five-star predictions but at the time of doing that i hadn't read brandon sanderson's any of his adult fantasy i had only read skyward so uh we're gonna change this up and actually go for alloy of law i think this is definitely gonna be a five star it's a five-star prediction from me so that's what i'm gonna pick for that one then we have an author's debut so i'm gonna go for the stars and the blackness between them because that is this author's debut and i it's on my tbr because why the hell not then we have a book out of your comfort zone and for this one i'm gonna go for and every morning the way home gets longer and longer by frederick bachmann i haven't read from frederick batman before despite having several of his books on my tbr but this is a very very short story uh by frederick batman basically following an old man who is sitting with his grandson on a bench and they are um reminiscing the old days of this old man's life with his wife and um things like that i think it's got themes and topics of dementia possibly i'm not 100 sure obviously i haven't read it yet it's only about 72 pages long and i know that g from book roast has loved this recently which is the reason why i've picked it up but this isn't my usual read it's not something i would usually go for so this is definitely out of my comfort zone and i'm looking forward to picking this one up then we have a book hauled in the past year quite frankly the majority of my tbr has been hauled in the past year so any of those books could fit for that then we have indie or self-published and for this one i'm going to go for verity by colleen hoover because this is one of india's favorite books and one of the prompts is to pick a bookish creator's favorite book so that will double up with that prompt but it is an indie book as well i have double checked so i'm looking forward to picking this one up this is a romance thriller and i've never read a romance thriller before so this is new to me again could fit for the prompt of um out of my comfort zone uh because i do like thrillers i love romances but i don't know how a romance troll is going to go down with me but i am looking forward to it because i've heard incredible things then we have poc reps so if i wanted to go for a book off of my tbr specifically i could go for the stars and the blackness between them but i could also go for talia hibbert's wannabet slash the roommate risk which i'll show a picture of here this was previously won a bet it is now called the roommate wrist room room room mate risk why is that struggle roommate risk it's essentially a companion novel to the princess trap which i read recently and really really loved and highly recommend um so i may possibly pick this one up we will see but i'm excited about this one then we have a poll which i have done this one one so that will be going on there then we have fitter tbr game prompts which is something i can't really do until we started and i've seen everybody else's tbr games so that i can pick one of their prompts so that's something that i'll probably just do in one of my reading vlogs at some point and pick a book for in a reading vlog to read at that point probably then we have buddy read so for this alloy of law could work the stars and the blackness between them could work blood which could work only mostly devastated could work i have many books on here that i am essentially buddy reading these could work take your pick disability and mental health rep get a life chloe brown has disability rep in it and it's fantastic i freaking love love it then bookish creators fave as i previously mentioned i'm going to be picking verity by colleen hoover to cover one of india's favorites then we have cover featuring teams colors for camp contemporary our color is blue so you know take your pick i have many blue covers going on for the month of june and then the last one is the title of the last letter of the book you just read is the title of the first letter of the book you're about to pick up so until i actually do that process in a reading vlog i've no doubt we won't know what that is but i'm sure i'll be able to make it work somehow so basically that is my tbr overall i'm really excited this as i've just shown is my whatever author on tbr that was my book operative yeah this is my overall whatever-a-thon tbr that i'm really really interested in plus a few others if at all possible but we will see what happens i don't want to put too much pressure on myself but yeah overall i'm really really excited i'm hyped to read quite a bit of um contemporary and hopefully quite a bit of romance i'd really love to show off some more adult romance on there if at all possible because that's what i'm really really craving at the moment um so yeah we'll see what happens maybe i might be able to fit some of these on as well which i would really love um but we will see what happens and i will keep you posted but yeah i hope you have enjoyed and i shall see you next time bye for now [Music] you
