hey everyone my name is sam thanks for checking out this video to get to the unelected the subscribe bell notification give the video a thumbs up um we're standing today because i just have a lot of energy today and i can't sit down so i don't know i'm holding that so far already uh what are we doing july july uh haul i had a really good month actually um i stuck to the books that i had physically ordered for myself audible had a sale so there were um i bought audio books that i wasn't anticipating but my goal was to focus on reducing physical amount of books because i you know may eventually be moving in the next couple months if i could find work elsewhere because i've genuinely had enough of this province they're stopping covid tracing their stopping requirement for you to isolate if you test positive for covid the delta variants are up they're cutting healthcare everywhere try and privatize it and i'm done with this province so i'm just prepping to move so i don't want to be accumulating books i'm actually going to try and not buy any physical books in the month of august um there are several books that i want um and i'm just putting them on a list so that you know whenever i do finish moving or whatever and then i settle down i'll probably add ideally by the time you settle down and finish moving and settling and whatever it's going to be close to like christmas and stuff like that and just i'll treat myself then right there's nothing that is coming out as a red alert that i can't get an audio version of it if i need to read it now right so i am really happy with what i stuck to and i'm even happy with the stuff that i got on sale i didn't really buy anything that i wasn't already it was all stuff it was in my wish list basically at this point so i just saved money realistically instead of buying them at full price so anyways these are the books that i managed to accumulate in the month of july starting off with the libro librarians complimentary copies program i started off with kiki kalira breaks kingdom breaks a kingdom sorry um it's a middle grade fantasy and it looks like it's indian folklore yeah kiki's sketchbook is full of fanciful doodles of the rich indian myths and legends her mother told her over the years and i i looked at it and it gave me um like just immediately i was like oh serpent's kingdom like um and the that series from saiyan saytani descuda i think it was and um this is an author that i've seen her books before she had um a spark of white fire come out so why a book i never read it but it's an it's the name that i recognize and then the cover is just really cute and fun and it i like that middle grade is just leaning so hard into this like racial representation bold right on the front cover and their illustrated designs they've publishers finally figure it out they finally heard us being like stop using stupid stock photos of a girl in a ball gown we want illustrated covers and finally illustrated covers so i am really excited about this one i'm not sure if i'm going to read no i'm not sure when i'm going to read it but uh it's it's on my list of i'm looking at my tbr for the next month that i'm filling it in and it's i'm going to try and slot it in somewhere i also got xoxo by axio this is supposed to be a why a contemporary romance so it was like not generally something i'm vibe with but i love the cover and i haven't read anything by this author but i know the name and it's kpop centered and i'm a fan you could say um so i grabbed this when it popped up as an option in the catalog and i do plan on reading it sometime this year i just know the main character is like a cello prodigy i think meet some guy like has a fun wild night in l.a and uh where she lives at like a karaoke bar or something and then eventually she ends up moving with her mom um back to south korea when her grandmother is kind of slowly getting sicker and sicker and enrolls in a school for music and that boy that she met in l.a happens to be there and is a part of a giant k-pop group and we all know that stereotype that k-pop idols can't date so it's gonna create a conflict obviously so um i'm curious about this when i do read it it's um i want to get done before the winter because winter just like my romance bug is like then i grabbed out of character i didn't realize until after i grabbed it that it is a sequel i don't know if it's just a companion or like a rotating character sort of series but i grabbed out of character um it just i was curious it's friends to enemies to friends to lovers and it's a queer rom-com for fans of red white and royal blue and i was like i am a fan of red white and royal blue so i will give this a shot again hopefully before the winter time because just you know winter apparently is not the time for romance for my brain then i also grabbed the bookseller of florence and the bookseller secrets um from this i am always excited to read books about books it's a librarian thing i think um and especially when the historical fictions which i'm guessing the one that says books of florence is historical fiction set in italy or something like that so these are probably ones i'm going to start slotting in come uh fall time and lastly i grabbed the for the forest of vanishing stars stairs i'm not sure i can't remember it's been everywhere in our marketing um from a library perspective it's just freaking everywhere i've seen the cover non-stop i just i'm just going to read it to understand what the hell the trend is that it's a part of then i picked up the chariot at this point swati tirdala this is the third and final book in the tiger at midnight trilogy this was a pre-order i am very very excited to get this and uh this is on my um august tbr so i will be reading it so you can expect to see a general review of it in the wrap-up of the month for next month and just like the rest of the series it follows this orange yellow purpley almost huey pink color scheme um leans a bit more into the orange and you can see it's all reflectively glittery and there's no end pages or anything on the site on them on the pages i guess that's what i'm thinking of under dash jacket is a red and the spine is a orange foil that kind of looks gold with the red so um it it matches with the rest of the series very pretty actually i should grab those and so you can see what they look like together so all the spines together one two and then three so we went from yellow to it's kind of a bluey blue and then the orange and then all together let's see if i can hold them all all the characters on the front so i'm really happy the second book just seems like kind of like kind of out of place for the rest of the series but they all look nice together on the shelf so yay then i received um she called them belated birthday gifts from my friend ryan so she sent me a copy of the silence of the girls but pat barker and then the copy of uh take a hand danny brown this is the last book of the brown sisters that i did not own because for some reason my bookstore brought in books one and three in stock and never two so don't don't understand that but now i have the entire series and this i didn't before it was not labeled as a c as a series but it is now labeled as a series so the sequel to this is coming out in later on this year and i plan on reading this um this month or the month of august and i have already read take him daddy brown so now it's just part of my collection and i've been wanting it for a while and i had it on my christmas list and it just never came so now i finally have it so yay and they're both just plain paperback this is a new cover though um that the book that is coming out is supposed to match this one now i have been waiting since before this book came out i finally got my trade paperback of the empire of gold by essay chakrabarty i've already read this book it's fantastic it's the last book i needed again just like danny brown in this series um i got books one and two in trade paperbacks and then for some reason i'm not totally sure why um because i think the rest of the books they released them like at the same time of both a hardcover and trade paperback that's not uncommon in canada um for adult books if they're gonna do a hardcover they normally will do it with both of them and then there's the odd book that staggers them like the sequel the shortfall i'm still waiting for that to come out and paperback it's been like out for like a year and a half in hardcover and they still haven't dropped the paperback of it but this for some reason they delayed the paperback release by like months and months and months and months so i just had to keep waiting and they let me pre-order it in the pre-order campaign for the book originally before this book even came out and then they just like are randomly sent email like okay yeah we're canceling it because it's just not coming in stock and then they just delayed it but it finally came in stock in july so i had it pre-ordered and now it's here to match oh i should grab the rest of the books again too so now here's the all three you can see the third book is quite quite noticeably larger so city of brass um kingdom of copper and empire of gold i love the the brass the brass copper and then gold progress and the spines just look really pretty together and then all the whole series matches really really well so i am so happy and now i own them all in the correct format and then i got my pre-order copy of mother of mother of all not mother of bad what am i saying bad for mother of b not mother of fat mother of all by jenna glass this is again the third and final book in a series that i've been collecting women's war and this one came out the paperback actually never came out in hardcover the first book did but then the rest of the series didn't but um this is again third book i plan on reading this in the month of august and where are the rest of the books or you just can't see them so now all together we have a red a purple and a blue um i don't know why they changed the logo just slightly each time just to piss me off i guess i don't know why they didn't um put like the crown prong the way that they did here but um the whole series together it looks very very pretty and is just the series is really good in general but i am confused as hell as to what the red here on this woman is i've discussed it before because it's the first and the first book starts real evilly so i don't know what the hell that means so i'm going to get betrayed i don't know anyways i have them and you can see this again anticipate a review for this in the end of the month wrap up for august audible had a bomb ass sale where like a bunch of just like everything went on sale i don't know what happened they just have really good sales this year actually they did it twice in the month of july i don't know what the hell happened anyway so i managed to grab the diabolic um by sj kinsad um i have already read the diabolic and i plan on binging the series now the third and final book is out and i got it for christmas so i will be reading that very very soon um hero the ninth by uh tamsen moore i've already read it i just really wanted the audiobook for that series the never tilting world by rooney peco um i absolutely adore that series despite me struggling with why i fantasies the never tilting world series just fantastic so i have the audiobook and then i bought with one credit of my own a copy of the audiobook for jade works i anticipate reading that soon and i do finally have a copy of it and the first audiobook for the first book of the series is a fantastic audiobook so i just i had to i had to i had to i also grabbed a history of what comes next which is still being nuval's um like novella series which is in the middle of being published is the second i think a final book of that duology comes out i think late this year um it looks like it's got rocket ships and honestly i'll buy anything that man is putting out at this point after reading sleeping giants and then i also got the audiobook for the archive of the forgotten by aj hackwith hackwith something like that yeah it's um in the library's hells library series another really great series i've consumed the book already but i wanted to own my own copy on audiobooks so now i do and all those books were five dollars basically except for hair of the ninth was six dollars and then so i also grabbed the audiobooks for armor of the sphinx and the hodgkin which is books two and three of the sandlin ascend series josiah bancroft just dropped the cover for the final book that is supposed to come out in december this year so i want to start accumulating the audiobooks i've said this before i love to send in a sense it's a bonkers ass weird book but i absolutely loved it so i'm going to collect the series and then be able to binge it once the fourth book is out because i had no no idea how long i was going to be waiting and both those were only like six dollars a piece or something like that i also got the audio book for the light between worlds if you have not read this book like i mean it's gonna make you cry but it's a really amazing book it's still it's been like three years since i read that book and i still am like did they actually go to narnia or was it ptsd like trigger like them protecting themselves i still don't know and i know we've had the author in the group she's like it can be anything you want i'm like no i need an answer man it is so such a good book and now i own my own audio book of it and it was like five dollars and the archer dawn audiobook went on sale and i think i now own the entire uh it's one of i try i because i bounce between platforms audiobook platforms when i buy based on sales right because i'm a cheap i want to spend this least amount of money possible as i need to so when things go on sale i buy them but normally i try and reserve books to like okay if i bought book one on audible i'm gonna just get the rest of them on audible if i got the second book on libro let's just get the rest of the series on libro right yeah um the series just goes randomly on sale on different platforms so i have book one i own book one i think on odd no i own book one on libro because it went on sale i think i think it's libro and then the archer at dawn went on sale for five dollars on audible so i was like i like organization but i'm a cheap primarily at like at first so i bought that on audible it was five dollars and i just looked and it didn't go on sale anywhere else so sometimes libro and chirp will match the sales but not always and they didn't in this instance so i have the archer down audiobook now so i will just have to wait to get the the chariot at desk audiobook whenever i find it on scene and then lastly i got the audiobooks for the crown game and thorne both of which i have already read both of which absolutely adore the series hence why i was waiting for myself to be able to buy the audiobook because i read them through the library the first time and or i own the physical copies already and i just wanted digital copy because they're fantastic books okay months ago i posted i was like i find when i finally got i think was the swedish finnish editions i think of the nevermore series that's like awesome and then i saw the covers for the time ones and i was like i need the titles i've also since found out that the hardcover australian covers are different than everything else i saw so i have to find a way to get those but they seem out of stock everywhere so i don't know if that's ever going to happen the paperbacks are like the same as the ones we have in north america or the uk but the hard covers which seem to be completely out of stock now are very different so i want to try and find a way to find those um but this wonderful beautiful person i posted on litzy i was like i'm trying to find somewhere you know i was like i'm willing to pay for it i can't a figure out the website most of it won't translate or if it does translate it doesn't make any sense and then when i did try and go through it well first time it said shipping was over 100 canadian dollars and i was like that seems wildly overpriced and then i went back again and i couldn't find the paperback books again so i don't know what the hell happened and then i tried again i said we do not deliver to your address i don't know what the happened and then someone was like i live in singapore if you want like i can send them to you like all right sweet thank you so much like thank you and then she sent them to me and didn't ask me to pay for the books or the shipping and when i asked her she said don't worry about it how are there people like that in the world and then we have politicians like anyways i have the thai editions now i'm so excited they all came with book a pair of bookmarks one for each like morgan and then another main character in them so i have those um i just can't remember i put them i kept them i made sure to keep them i just have been cleaning and i don't know where i moved them to but these are the thai editions of nevermoor so book one nevermoor the trials of morgan crowe a book two wonder smith and then book three is hollow pox and the they just look like manga covers almost and i freaking just i like seeing all the variations in how like the age and how we present morrigan because in some of them she looks like a preteen almost teenager and then these ones like she looks almost like a precious moments character and now i think the only ones that i'm missing is those hardcover australian ones and everything else all the other covers i've seen um of all the variations of languages are same covers just they've translated it so it's gonna be a to keep up with this because the series that she has planned for nine books and we're only at book three but at least i got i got i got what i needed i'm so excited and they just all look so pretty together and the backs all have like a little a foiled umbrella you can see the blue one there the oops the orangey gold and then here the blue and you can see this juniper this is the oh christ what's his name oh my god his name just escaped from my brain oh no no oh my god it's not like i can read the back either it's thai i don't speak that or read it it's on the tip of my tongue oh my god it's not as ezra squall as your school god and then i think this is supposed to be um juniper's um nephew but i'm not 100 sure i looked at my character cards and i couldn't quite exactly pick out who it was so i don't know anyways um freaking love these and bless that i don't want to say her name just in case people like start trying to find her but if she watches this thank you so much you are a wonderful freaking human being and i love these so much and i got my pre-order for flash fire by tj cloon this is the sequel to the extraordinaries um and this is set in nova city and it's supposed to be just a continuation of you know superhero drama and our main character is um gay and has adhd so it's both ownvoices rep from tj clune and uh i think this starts yeah this is like he has a boyfriend at the end of the first book so imagine that's going to continue and we're going to have superhero conflicts and i'm excited because i absolutely adored the first book so freaking much and it just continues like the um cover um production i guess of the first book so that is the front it matches the theme of book one then the end pages are this bright blue and then under dash jacket the hardcover is orange with the silver font and then the reversible dust jacket and i think they only did this for the first print so i would rush to go see if you can get it a pleasure to burn and he did have pre-order swag that i think i submitted for i think it's an enamel pin for this so hopefully i will get that soon oh my gosh um i hope it's like gets here in a reasonable time because if i move and then like i get books like the pre-orders like i don't know if it's like publishers just in general or like taking their sweet ass time sending it out or if it takes so long to get because i'm in canada but like it took over six months i think past the release of um house of crescent was it sarah j maas adult book when that one came it took like six months for me to get the printed poster that they had peter saying i did ask for god i better just assume they ran out of it and then i just showed up and i was like oh i forgot about this okay um but yeah so i will watch for that and this is on my august tbr so you will see this again in the end of the month wrap up reviews but i anticipate to like it and i don't remember why i bought the audiobook for gemina the credit like i just used my audible credit for it i don't think it was on sale at least i wrote down that i used one credit for it um i think i just had a spare credit that month and i was like you were gonna buy this anyway oh that was yeah i think it's saying you know if you don't use your two credits a month that i have the plan on audible then if you get to the end of the month you're not going to use it so i'm just sitting there in the courting or whatever just buy a book and start working your way through your wish list of books that you look at and have been there for four years never seem to go on sale and you know you still want them and i'm trying to collect all the audiobooks for illuminae because that series has bonkersly good audiobooks so i got that i also grabbed the audiobook for after ellis fell it went on for the audible daily deal one day this month for like three dollars u.s or something like that i've seen the cover uh again a fair amount has been pitched a good amount through the libraries i just know it's like historically fiction and this there's supposed to be a bit of a murder mystery i guess but that's really all i know and that was like three dollars that's very reasonable so i grabbed it then libro had some sales it was wonderful month for audio book sales i don't know what the hell happened to these places but i managed to grab maya and the rising dark for 3.95 as well as white rose for 3.95 i have read both of those mayan rising dark is a middle grade fantasy and it was really really cool i'm really excited for the rest of that series from rayna baron i believe it is and then uh white rose is from kip wilson it is an audio um it is i don't actually don't know if it's middle grade or why technically but it's written in verse it's about sophie and hans rose um they were a part of the short-lived white rose resistance in nazi germany i also grabbed the audiobook for the x talk by rachel and solomon i have been waiting for my library copy of it um for two basically since it came out and i'm still on hold for it and i'm like four months more before i can get my hands on it and it was picked as the swoon reads i think it was the soon reads in the tbr and beyond group so we're reading it in the month of august and i was like i just want to read that i want to be a part of the group read so i just use my libro credit because i keep forgetting i have credits on libro and then i look at them it's like oh you have three credits to go buying audiobooks with and i'm like oh so i used that and i got the audiobook for the x talk i saw these books um and i just like really wanted them and they didn't come out in north america so i messaged my friend mel and that girl is just like she she's the nicest human being and i was like if you see these books anywhere can you grab them and then they showed up so she got me the wolf den by ella d harper the sequel cover has dropped for this and it came i didn't realize this with a ribbon in it an orange ribbon and the spine is all orange this is the goldsboro edition i have no idea if it's the same at waterstones but um this i'm super interested like i said before in books set in like classical time periods now since i've had a good experience with a thousand chips i'm far more interested in reading them so it's a wolf stand there's nothing on the end pages and the under distract it's just a plain um it's a lighter orange and then the thing is not foiled for once which i feel like is pretty rare now um in book releases i don't know why everything gets spoiled on the under spine anyways and it's signed i'm so excited i didn't even necessarily want it signed i was like i would just like to own this book it's very pretty and the end pages are bright orange um sold by her mother enslaved by pompei's brothel determined to survive her name is amara welcome to the wolfden and i was like oh like the whole concept of like brothels and classics i don't know why that's specifically fine i always just find that whole actually no i shouldn't even say that's so weird i find the concept of sex work and how it has managed to stay alive and how it has morphed along with society over centuries when everything else seems to have changed but sex work is just i just find it really interesting so i was curious to see how this is going to delve into that and i think i'm going to wait for fall winter but i'm excited to read this one and i didn't i love when books come with ribbons and them so nice and then she also got me widowland i don't know why both of them are orange themed but when i land by cj carey um to control the past they edit the history to control the future they edit literature edited literature and i love the whole concept of time travel but especially messing with time travel like the whole like you can time travel but don't change anything i'm like nah that sounds stupid i want them to with which is why i loved the future of another timeline because it does kind of go that's stupid we're literally doing this and the whole i feel like there's a whole concept who we've had when we're like with the harold harry potter time turner and you're like could you imagine the damage that the death eaters could do have done in harry potter if we explored that plot of like what happens if the death eaters got a time turner and just went back and like rewrote and actually managed to kill harry skip that whole series i find it interesting and then my friend muriel told me about it because she it has the goldsboro um i don't think the sci-fi fantasy but you can get like a premium subscription to them um and you just get a discount and early access to like special editions i think and she had it and i was like oh that sounds interesting and she's like oh no you'd probably like it i think it sounds like a book you would like so i got it so it's orange the spine i don't know if it's supposed to be black or gray but it's coming off kind of greeny teal in person it's gray so that's i don't know why maybe it's the orange influences but um under dust jacket is black and then or sorry end pages black um these are gray and then gold so i'm cautiously optimistic i just even books that like that have time travel that i don't end up liking i'm just always interested to see how people can make time travel their own it's something that i just always enjoy no matter what um so not london 1953 coronation year but uh not the coronation of queen elizabeth 13 years has passed since great the since the grand alliance between great britain and germany has formed george vi and his family have disappeared and edward the eighth ruled as king of king with his queen wallace yet in practice all power is vested in alfred rosenberg britain's protector the role in the status of women in rosenbergs is particularly interesting and it always comes down to sexism always always comes down when we play with time travel and then wrapping up the month i managed to get the audiobook from audible snow like ashes because i had a random small sale again uh for five dollars that's one that i've been wanting forever to own for myself and now i do i own the first book uh snow like ashes series and then i also got the audio book for blackhawks by um oh shoot what's his name his name skate me dave something dave hawkes something like that the cover just randomly appeared the other day on my goodreads and i was like oh my god is that nicholas eames new book and i read i have him somewhere up here book is but um i have uh kings of the wild by nicholas eames and i don't know that the third book is ever gonna come out with that series oh maybe it's his new series or a third book it's not it kind of looks similar cover and then i read the summary and it's like this sounds kind of cool and it was four dollars or some some stupid cheap price so i just like fine i'll grab it so i bought it chirp had a few decent sales this month too i managed to get the frozen crown for five us dollars and the silvered serpent the sequel to the gilded wolves by rasheed chotsky for four us dollars so i was um pretty stoked when i saw those that's another series now i have the guild of wolves to split between audible and chirp now and i'm like it's exhausting and then finally i got the audiobook for ashes to the sun but on libra i thought i bought it last month when audible had its sale but i think that i put it in my car and just must have been one of those books that ended up weeding out to try and keep it under a reasonable amount of money i spent and then my friend messaged me ryan uh and was asking me about it and i was like yeah i plan on reading it next month and then it went and looked because she's like oh the audiobook's so good i just finished it and then i looked as like i didn't buy it and i looked and i had a spare credit on libro again because i keep forgetting i have credits on there um so i bought that so those are all the books i managed to accumulate this month uh thank you so much to my friends ryan and mel for sending me books this month and then my friend who also sent me um my copies of nevermore those are like that whole series there's like a prized possession that's like that's my that's my harry potter series right let me know in the comment section down below what you got this month if you bought any of these books if i convinced you to buy any of these books if there's a book that i should have bought let me know and um yeah i i'm reading several of these this month so i'm very excited to finish off so many series um it feels like and yeah i will link all of my social media in the description box down below um if you follow me i will follow you back as long as you don't have a super sketch account and i will see you all next week for a wrap-up of july reads you
