we're back now at 7:41 with the case that transfixed the country for nearly 20 years the murder of six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey well for the first time ever her brother Burke is speaking out publicly about this case we brought you some of this exclusive interview with dr. Phil McGraw on Friday and a lot of people are asking why he chose to speak out now for a long time media basically made our lives crazy it's hard to miss the cameras and news trucks in your front yard and we go to the supermarket sometimes there'd be a tabloid you know with my pictures I want his picture plastered on the front they would follow us around seeing that as a little kids just kind of chaotic nightmare so I was pretty skeptical of like any sort of media like it just made me a very private person as it's why I'm doing it now the 20th anniversary and there's apparently still a lot of attention around it dr. Phil McGraw good morning morning how extraordinary to hear him speak after all of these years and just on the little bits that we've shown on this show we're hearing from a lot of people saying it's a strange effect that he seems to have he's smiling and you say even in places in the interview where he's talking about rather serious matters it is there'll be dark content and he is smiling and people are going to see this throughout the entire interview really unusual effect either smiling or laughing this is a very socially awkward young man but understand from the time this happened his parents depending on your interpretation either protected him or hit him based on how you want to interpret that so he has not had the social contact that most kids have growing up when you've got reporters at the end of your driveway he couldn't go to school and even now he works as a computer analyst as in computer security but he works remotely he doesn't go into work every day he's not around people so he's not real comfortable in a social situation so speaking out for him was a very difficult unusual thing and he's 29 years old now as soon as he could have remained somewhat anonymous but did he think that suddenly he was going to be outed he knew this was the 20 year anniversary and because he was starting to get bombarded people were finding him he knew his anonymity was gone he said I he wanted to control the narrative his story was going to get told he wanted to tell it this is a comprehensive interview that you do I want to play another clip from it where he talks about what he remembers from the morning that Jon Benet was killed let's take a look do you remember waking up that morning he up the first thing I remember is my mom bursts in my room really frantic saying like oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh running around my room looking for a holiday at that point I was awake the next thing I remember is a police officer coming to my room and shining a flashlight was still dark in his house yeah I was just laying there what time did she come in early Anna arrived had to be it was still dark so ahead yeah did she turn on the light when she came in I don't remember she did or not I do remember the cop coming in and shining a flashlight around so the light must been off you asked him point-blank did you kill Jon Benet Ramsey I did I asked him point-blank did you kill your sister Jon Benet I asked him point-blank do you believe one of your parents killed her because there are these factions on the Internet and listen this is the missing link for 20 years this thing has been grinding but the missing link is Bert no one has ever spoken there are these three tapes the the tape with the psychologist two tapes with the police one interrogation tape interrogation that's one the parents say was illegally gotten and we have all three of those tapes and I'm going to show those with him watching them for the first time so it's it's interesting to see him watch himself say what's his reaction because here he is I mean there's a little boy and talking to investigators right and he he talks about what he was feeling at that time and he remembers those interviews we're going to hear him talk he's going to make a shocking admission about this mystery footprint that people speculate about so much I found at the scene that the he's going to talk about the incidence of violence of hitting his sister in the head earlier with a golf club he's going to talk very specifically about that and he's going to talk and give a very significant answer about the pineapple that supposedly was found a bowl of pineapple was found on a table in the house that was not there when everyone went to bed and pineapple was found during the autopsy in her stomach he's going to talk very specifically about how that pineapple came to be in his little sister stomach the night that she was found dead so it was one of the forensic mysteries in the case that person he was the only one there that night that has not spoken only known person to be there that night that hasn't spoken I know he also has opinions about her participation in beauty pageants there's a lot to get to doctor well thank you for bringing us a first look by the way you can see this three-part interview with Burk Ramsey it starts today on the dr.
