hey guys Ashley D will here and today I wanted to talk about a subject that we kind of as believers where we all know but we don't ever really think about it and we don't ever really dig down and see what this really means and so I love to just learn more about who we are in Christ what we have in Christ and so this relates to that because this video is going to be called joint heirs with Jesus Christ so let's look at and explore a little bit of this idea and what the scriptures say about believers being joint heirs with Christ okay so I want to start out just by saying that in order to enter Heaven perfection is required right and that's all we are on earth without Christ we're just not perfect and that is what sinners are they're not perfect and so when you're brought into the kingdom of Jesus Christ out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light you are made from imperfect you are made perfect spiritually okay so that is the standard is perfection and so when you're when you enter into Jesus Christ you you believe on him you have faith in him you have entered into perfection and so Jesus Christ is perfect and he makes anyone who comes to him perfect he does it we have nothing to do with it he does this work automatically when we're saved now I want to talk about the New Covenant the New Testament and so the new let's call it the New Testament for purposes of this video but the New Testament is the will and testament of the Lord Jesus Christ the New Covenant the New Testament is the will and testament of the Lord Jesus Christ have you ever heard of a real wealthy man and he wants to leave his inheritance to his children he writes out his last will and testament and so he wants to make sure that his kids get everything well this is the last will and testament of the Lord Jesus Christ that's what the New Covenant is that's what the New Testament is it's his last will and testament okay I want you to have that mindset because that's literally what it is so this last will and testament took effect immediately when Jesus Christ died so that all who believed on him back in when he died when he was on the earth and he died when they believed then all the way up to today and until the end of time all who believe on Him become immediately joint heirs with him in his father's kingdom so let's look at Hebrews 1:2 so here we have joint heirs with Christ and over here we have Hebrews 1:2 it says but in these last days he has spoken to us by his son whom he appointed heir of all things so the scripture is telling us that the Heavenly Father has appointed Jesus Christ as heir of all things because the heavenly father owns heaven and earth he created everything and he is giving passing down everything to the son let's look at Galatians 4 7 which says for the believers so you and I are no longer slaves to sin as we were in the kingdom of darkness but God has transferred us into the kingdom of light so that now we are God's child and since we are his child God has made you also an heir so Jesus Christ is an heir to the heavenly father and God has made us an heir to himself so Jesus Christ is an heir of God and we the believers are heirs of God but what is an heir let's look at the definition of an air and air here is a person legally remember that word legally entitled to the property and/or rank of another upon that person's death okay what is a joint air a joint air is one who shares his inheritance with one or more people okay so let's look a little bit more at this listen to this at the death of Jesus Christ all who believe in him in his death and resurrection for them personally are transferred legally into him not just into his kingdom of light but into himself see into himself into his kingdom and into his inheritance and they are all entitled legally in the spirit realm believers are entitled to all that Jesus Christ has property was in his father's kingdom and all that he is in rank in his father's kingdom we the believers are beneficiaries of his last will and testament so for example my brother and I he's two years younger than I am we are the beneficiaries will be the beneficiaries of my parents estate okay so upon their death all that they have legally will be transferred to me and my brother we will share as joint heirs of my parents estate likewise all believers are joint heirs I'll represent all the believers and here's Jesus over here we are joint heirs with Christ to share with him in his father's kingdom let's look at Ephesians 2:6 it says and God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ you'll notice this is past tense this is not going to happen this has already happened in the spirit realm he raised us up with Christ from there in the resurrection and crisis send it into heaven and he sat down at the right hand of the Father we died with Christ when he died we died in him with him and we rose with him in his resurrection we ascended with him and we were seated past tense were seated with Jesus Christ beside the heavenly Father at the right hand of God okay this is past tense it's not gonna happen it's already happened and we're already seated with Christ in the heavenlies this is not a positional thing there's no such thing as positional anything this is literal yes we are seated down here in this time-space dimension but they remind you this is not reality all of this is an illusion this is like a video game like a 3d HD video game that we're in okay it's not reality the scripture is reality and the Lord says that he has already seated us with Christ in the heavenlies so when you do remember that also Jesus Christ is the first fruit and firstborn in all creation he is our older brother we as believers he is our older brother he's the first fruit and were the fruit that follows we are his brothers and sisters we are his brothers and sisters he is the son of God the head we are the sons and daughters of God the body the head and the body go and in hand as equals just like in the marriage relationship the husband is the head the wife is the body and they're equals and they work together Jesus Christ and the Saints are a married couple they're a married couple well they will be and they're a complete Union together Jesus Christ died for his trophies we are his trophies we are the trophies you're the trophy and I'm the trophy were all the trophies of Jesus Christ and so in that he gives us all that he is and all that he has all that he is and all that he has now you might need to take a minute pause this video and go do you know fall over backwards and faint or start crying or go do cartwheels in your front yard I don't know but if you're not doing that you don't get what I'm saying okay you don't get it so if you need to pause go right ahead so do you want to know grace do you want to know the grace of God this is the grace of God it's a lot more than this but this is a big piece of the grace of God talking about not being worthy of something talking about not deserving something he doesn't care about any of that that has no bearing on anything at all because we have nothing to do with it the only thing we have to do with it is exercising the faith that he has given us to believe what he says and he gives us the ability to exercise the faith that he's given us okay so this is all from God let's read Romans 8:32 he who did not spare his own son but gave him up for us all he gave him up for the good of us all how will he not also along with him graciously give us all things all things see this joint-heir stuff is all things so Christ identifies with us in his death when he died on the cross he was identifying with us because we were dying in him and when you believe you were baptized into that death so he identified with us in his death we identify with him in his resurrection and in his inheritance listen to this he identifies with us in his inheritance and we also identify with him in his inheritance what's his is ours it goes both ways so let's read now Romans 8:17 now if we are children of God what she says we are then we are heirs heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory so this does have a qualification it says as you carry your cross in life whatever that may be whatever season it is whatever you're going through without a cross there is no Christ right and so in the believers life if you never have a cross to carry then you're not following Christ so there's always some kind of a cross to carry in some way shape or form and you know if you haven't carried a cross yet then maybe you're just milk in the milk stage but across it's coming I can assure you that so this is just saying that when we share in his sufferings in the ways that are required to enter the kingdom and to share in his glory in in heaven that proves that we are his children like how the discipline proves that were his children when we share in his sufferings that proves that were his heirs that's kind of what that's saying so let's look at Luke 15 the prodigal son this one place in here it says the prodigal son he went off and he first he said father I want my inheritance right now give it to me and when he said that to his father he was basically saying I wish you were dead why because you can only get the inheritance from your parent if your parent is dead so he's saying I won't mind hearing it's give it to me now and he went off and he just wasted it all blew it all on wild living and doing all these sinful things just totally reckless okay later he comes to his senses and he comes back to the Father and he says this father I have sinned against heaven and against you this is us coming to Christ father or maybe we're already in Christ and we still feel this way father I have sinned against heaven and against you and because I've sinned I'm no longer worthy to be called your son and so what does the father say now what is the father's response to this this is after he's run out which the fathers didn't do back then and ran he ran to him and he kissed him and embraced him and welcomed him with his the filth and everything that this son had on him he welcomed him he kissed him he blessed him he embraced him fully this is after that I've sinned against you I'm no longer worthy to be called your son but the father said to the servants immediately okay notice did he have any regard to what the son says notice what he did quick bring the best robe the best robe in the whole kingdom and put it on him and put a ring signifying the family name on this son and put sandals on his feet and bring the fattened calf the one that they keep for special feasts and celebrations it's very special it's not just an everyday meal this is for very special occasions they said go get that calf and kill it and let us feast and celebrate for this son of mine was dead and he is alive again he was lost and now he is found so they began to celebrate and then notice like I said does the father have any regard to the sons the prodigal son sin and all the women and the wine he wasted the money on and the whole inheritance is gone he's covered in filth he smells like a pig and he's exclaiming to the Father I'm not worthy to be called your son does the father give that any regard at all you know what he doesn't even see it he doesn't even acknowledge it throughout this whole passage he doesn't acknowledge it you know why because he doesn't see it he doesn't care about all the red tape he doesn't care about all the past things and all of present things he doesn't care he only cares about pouring his love out on to this prodigal son that's all he cares about nothing else matters all the formalities don't matter all the red tape doesn't matter all the lists of sins it doesn't matter he doesn't even acknowledge it in this entire passage he says is he runs to him he embraces him he kisses him he puts the robe the ring the sandals and he has a feast and he celebrates that's it there's no acknowledgment of any of this stuff he doesn't say get on your knees and confess your sins to me he doesn't say say a Hail Mary he doesn't say are you sure you're ready to come back to me or you gonna are you gonna do this again am I wasting my time he didn't say any of that he just embraces him okay secondarily in verse 31 the father says to the older son son you were always with me all that is mine is yours okay all that is mine is yours that is very relevant let's look at 1st John 4:17 what does this say it says this is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence in the day of John the Day of Judgment and then it says in this world in this fallen sinful world full of lusts of the flesh where Satan is the god of this world in this world right now this evil world we the believers are like Jesus we are like Jesus in this world right now so if in this world we are already like Jesus then we will certainly be exactly like Jesus in heaven pure and holy just as we are here but even more so in glory and because of him deserving of all that his and all that he has in his father's Kingdom now in and of ourselves obviously we could never be worthy of anything right we are less than nothing without him we can do nothing without him we are nothing but in Christ he has made us worthy in himself and for himself he did this for himself he did it for himself I want you to realize that for himself so now let's look at 2nd Corinthians 8:9 for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich yet for your sake he became poor so that you through his poverty might become rich that's the grace of God Ephesians 1 6 is the last one to the praise of his glorious grace which he has freely given us in the one that he loves so that being a joint heir with Jesus Christ is the grace of God that is the grace of God so aside from carrying our crosses he gives us everything we need and much of what we want in this life and the life to come so let's look at these definitions an error is a person legally entitled to the property in or rank of another person at that person's death so at Christ's death he gave us the right legally in the spirit realm to have everything that he is and everything that he has he has given that to us and a joint heir is one who shares his inheritance with one or more people so we are co-heirs joint heirs with Christ because he shares his inheritance with us that is what we are and what we get by being in Christ so I want this to be an encouragement to you if you feel impoverished in your soul if you feel unworthy if you feel unwanted if you feel rejected if you feel abandoned if you feel disconnected if you feel depressed or in despair I want you to have hope because there is so much hope in Jesus Christ and the fact that if you're a believer all of this is true this is your reality y'all this is your reality okay all of the circumstances that are going on in your life or passing away before you know it it's going to be over with and but this is forever this is the real deal and this is forever the spirit realm the invisible realm is so close to this realm it's so close it overlaps in this realm and I want you to just focus on this being a joint heir because you are in Christ and in Christ is everything you will ever need and everything you will ever want I want to encourage you to seek him with your whole heart and ask the Lord to flood your heart with light and flood your eyes with light to be able to see the glory of the inheritance that he has for you because it is unbelievable so I hope this is encouraging to you and when it encouraged you that if you're a believer you are a joint heir with Jesus Christ and he has already seated you with him in the heavenlies God has seated you in Christ with him in the heavenlies and everything that Christ is is yours and everything that he has is yours now and forever all right so I'm going to be encouraged and I pray God's blessing on you and his protection over you and that his will be done in your life and I pray this in Jesus name I'll see you next time
