Johns Favorite Duck Hole

all right i've shown you all some stuff around the shop and i showed you some stuff a little bit around our cabin i thought they'd be pretty cool show you around one of our blinds and uh this is in one of the reservoirs that we hunt these are some of our buck brush blinds and man these things were built probably 20 years ago and uh what we did is tried to find naturally of course one of the holes that the ducks and specks came to and then we tried to locate some of this bigger brush that naturally grew and that's what you can tell the bigger buck brush here behind it on both sides here and you know normally we wouldn't put two blinds separate like this but this is just how the buck brush naturally was so we had to do that on this side on the south side we have one main hole or one main blind and once we picked the buck brush that was big enough to to be able to to hide us we put a bench behind it and then we transplanted a lot of this brush here in the front almost i don't know if you can see this here so every year it's kind of funny we don't have to do as much brushing as we have to do cutting back the brush now we do get these oak leaves that we cut and you know if you look there's not a lot of trees out here actually there's really no oak trees out here but it still has the same color and still fits in it helps us fill in a lot of the gaps in the buck brush and uh that way when you're if you're moving around in the blind you really can't see it as much so it's just just really a good filler for inside the blind dog spot's a little bit trickier because you want him to be able to see well but at the same time you don't want them to be able to see him and uh so there's there's our dog this morning ziggy z man that's where he stays most of the time so as you walk in the blind all of them are a little bit different this place drains enough during the summer that we can get in here and do some work so um it's kind of nice like in this blind here where we've got you can see we got a bench like here and this stays here the whole time this uh this wooden frame here you know we just have some wire some screws to hang bags and basically all it is is a frame that we can stuff brush behind it and uh like i said that helps hide us here we're able to get in here and do some work to the bottom of it uh put some gravel uh which makes it nice and it's a little bit higher here than out there so that kind of keeps you you can see a little bit more out of the water um like i said normally we wouldn't want to have two different blinds hunting the same side just because you can't communicate as well but uh that's just how this one naturally ended up and you know we try to keep it as natural as possible this back here is my spot this is uh where all the monkey business happens not really but um we got a spot back here a redneck piece of rebar hanging across and um we've got some s hooks here and this is where we hang our limits we'll hang some bags we've got a table built we do the same thing just kind of a little work area back here so whatever gear you got you can sit out keep it dry you can also lay out ducts keep everybody duck separated and keep a good count on everything but this rebar also serves for you see these decoys i got back here the back we're just picking up it's got the big hook on it so when we're done and we keep our decoys out here we can just hook them on this rebar for next time so it works pretty good and also got a little spot out here back if you got a triple or something you could sneak out here at the back and get it if they come around the back side so here now there's some specs trying to work this hole i probably need to hurry and get out of here so i just thought it might be pretty cool to see one of the blinds that we had and you know kind of how we have it rigged up and i don't know if i explain this but here again look you can see all we do is put wire through this buck brush that that stays in here and stuff in oak leaves to help hide it give you a little better shot of how the hole looks inside so thought it'd be cool to get a little inside trip at the north blind on our little lagu reservoir which we call wall worth reservoir and an inside look at it at two bios
