Stoic, strong, doesn’t take any bullshit sort of woman (as expected!), but at the end, “Honestly if I’d thought of him as dead I don’t think I could go on…I don’t think of him as dead.” 😔 So sad that they didn’t get to see each other again as planned, but the bits about talking over the phone so often that she didn’t feel like he was far away and “Never mind Gertie!” were beautiful.
