hello War welcome to this talk Sunday the 10th of December now I wasn't sure whether to make this video or not because it's about me uh but I thought I would because um the majority of you watching can share the experience and um the covid pandemic started Way Way Back in uh 2019 and I got covid for the first time knowingly this week so I've been quite uh fairly well this week so I'm going to tell you about it um if you want to think back to the times time or times that you've had Co then see what you can relate to so I'll just tell you the the sort of time scale of this so Sunday now well last Sunday seven days ago I started developing a sore throat nothing unusual about that went to bed didn't think about it too much then I did a talk with uh Dr Craig on Monday morning that you might have watched excellent video and I felt perfectly clear absolutely on the ball and then while I was editing that video not long after we recorded it I thought just a minute I don't feel very well here so I started feeling worse as the day went on I persevered and edited the video but then when I took my temperature that night I had a lowgrade fever it was 37.6 de Centigrade which is I guess around about 101 not not a not a high fever just a low grade fever heart rate was a little bit higher than you would expect maybe about 80 85 from heart rate but my saturations my oxygen saturations were perfectly normal and blood pressure was was normal as well I did have some cold features and sort of cisal type features minor sort of runny nose but not not really bad nothing like you were called a streaming cold you know sometimes you just sit there and you're just like dripping into your handers it was nothing like that nothing like that so I thought well this is a bit strange I've got a bit of a cold but not a bad cold I feel a bit rough a little bit of a fever but not really ill like when I had influenza I was like really really ill I couldn't get up at all um fact couldn't make it into bed one time I was just lying on the bedroom floor with influenza so I wasn't quite sure what it was so obviously I tested but the tests I had were probably pretty um old and they didn't uh they came out as negative at that time this is last Monday or Tuesday so I assumed I didn't had have Co anyway going on um my sore throat cleared over the next few days then I developed sort of headache sort of Stuffy feeling behind the eyes sore eyes couldn't really look at things couldn't really concentrate and and I still did have an intermittent lowgrade fever at that point now I didn't take any medicines for my fever I didn't take any ibuprofen which is uh Advil or Bruin in the UK I didn't take any paracetamol which is a cam in FN or Tylenol in the States because um The Temper Jo wasn't that high and basically the reason that your body is putting your temperature up is to optimize your immune system so I didn't want to counter counterman that although it might make you feel a bit better but I do believe in my case at least it would have reduced the efficiency of my immune system and I just let the fever run as it was because it wasn't particularly High anyway did keep taking my vitamin D and zinc now uh throughout the week quite a lot of tiredness probably more can't be bothered really uh disinterest just couldn't be bothered with anything I'd start to read something I think I'd think oh this is a load of rubbish and I I just wouldn't bother I just just couldn't be bothered with it apathy I guess you could say I was apathetic to a lot of things poor concentration couldn't keep a thought going and and really wasn't sort of interested enough to keep a thought going to be quite honest I just just thought it was just a load of rubbish I just couldn't be bothered with anything very unlike me not normally I'm interested in absolutely everything as many of you know uh cough uh did carry on through the week nonproductive cough still I haven't got much of a cough now when I do it it's slightly productive as if I'm clearing my throat but nonproductive cough for most of the week The Voice has picked up quite a bit a bit now but earlier in the week a very limited voice I would become um sort of very dry and unable to talk earlier on in the week but that's quite a bit better now now I did get a very unusual type of indigestion pain so I kind of had this indigestion pain kind of going down here I do get a bit of regurgitation I take lopol sometimes just to to reduce the acid but um this this was different I don't know if it was related to the covid or not um but it was different but it was a pain up and down there quite quite that was quite quite sore actually might have been unrelated because maybe my diet would having in terms of appetite side um couldn't really say I was anorexic I may be eaten a little bit less than normal which won't do me any harm um but um I was eating fairly well throughout the week and even doing a little bit of of walking because I remember at this time I didn't know I had Co so anyway um Thursday I noticed that the coffee smelled like vinegar so um I did check and my wife said the coffee smell absolutely fine like coffee it didn't smell like vinegar so then I knew I had an altered smell and and food smelt strange taste was okay but food uh smelled strange and other things I couldn't smell so lot of smell and distorted smell so here I started thinking that it was probably Co so I managed to get some test strips off a friend of mine tested again and uh there we go um having done these things for years now I finally got a positive test of as of course I know thousands of of views to have even then it's not strongly positive but maybe the the antigens changed a little bit now since these tests were designed because of course the virus has been continuously evolving and changing um now the other characteristic feature I had on Thursday Friday to an extent yesterday was this um quite an irritating uh rash this is guess you call this a urticarial rash that's on my elbow kind of hives quite swollen and angry and uh incredibly itchy I had these on uh on various parts of me this is just the most photogenic part um but um very very itchy ertic car now the only time I've really seen these before is with allergies but of course I hadn't taken anything that would cause an allergy and I don't have any known allergies so um and of course a rash is very much part of a possible covid uh syndrome so I'm pretty convinced this is a covid rash um it's actually pretty well gone now and the itchiness lasted for about 36 to 48 hours but when it was itchy it really was intensely itchy um so um raised itchu rash now um what I found was my temperature was really quite intermittent I often had a bit of a temperature as I say about 36 so it's 37.6 de Centigrade 37 .7 that kind of low grade fever uh through the uh through through the week but intermittently more in the evenings and sometimes I thought oh I'm better now and then You' kind of go off again so the whole course of the week's been a bit relapsing and remitting feeling better feeling not so good um I felt good in the evenings a couple of times I'm feeling pretty good now not 100% but feeling fairly good now um I'm just hoping I don't relapse again in the morning as I did on what kind remember what night at Thursday or Friday night I thought oh I'm better now but felt pretty rough the next day but let's let's let's hope for the best now no shortness of breath as I say me oxygen saturations have remained good uh some shter breath on exertion so when I when if I go up the stairs too quickly I am puffing and panting a bit um so and then today and yesterday uh must confess a bit irritable uh almost like kind of a irritation just just needed to sort of shut myself in a room and didn't want to go around grumping at people um but as I say feeling quite a bit better now and hopefully that will uh hope hopefully that will carry on so there we go John gets CO as as most of you have had um must have done this test about 20 times and it's been negative in the past so why have I not got it until now did I have it in 2020 wasn't diagnosed I did have a cough in 2020 but I don't remember feeling ill there wasn't any time where I felt ill for a period of time as I probably would have done um why I didn't get any of the other waves I've been exposed multiple times I know I've been exposed uh in the same household as as people with covid and um yet not uh not got it myself um strange this was the first time so um I really can't explain that um I must have had Fairly good immunity of course I've had no vaccine since December 2021 so over two years now um so that don't I don't think you can say that's a fact at all strange CLA did say on a video actually that only 10 to 15% of people get Co in any one wave so I missed it up till now but as as as per NE all of you I guess that's pretty well all of us had covid now uh an unpleasant experience but do seem to be recovering quite well but thankfully as of now no need for doctors or Hospital intervention or anything anything like that and I I do keep an eye on my saturations but they' they've been absolutely fine so no concern there at all really and certainly no no lower respiratory symptoms no no sort of wheeziness or Asma type symptoms um so there we go we've nearly all had it now um keep your posted over the next few days uh there is quite a few interesting things I want to be talking about um now I've got my interest and motivation back it's funny the disinterest last week was quite incredible I thought I just can't be bothered with that just not interested it was um strange very unusual for me but uh isn't the immune system wonderful that we can get a virus even a novel vir virus it can make antibodies it can sensitize the B and the tea cells and other aspects of immunity and uh the vast majority of times the body uh heals us quite wonderful that we're equipped with this natural immunity and I would hope to be looking forward to a quite a long period of quite substantial immunity after having this actual infection so we know each what each other feel feels like now during this episode and um hopefully some more scientific content in the next uh few days quite a few things some Fascinating People to talk to as well as soon as I uh get the chance but for now thank you for watching oh and thank you so much all the people that have uh written in that their concerns and um expressing concern and curiosity really appreciate it really is quite quite moving thank thank you
