hi i'm jimmy i'm the host of the show thanks for watching thanks for clapping this is so much better than a regular audience you know i hope your weekend was good on um on saturday i don't know if you saw this in brooklyn they had a memorial for dmx the legendary hip-hop artist we had him on our show a couple times he always put on a great show but on saturday dmx topped everything which with what has to be the single greatest funeral procession of all time look at this he instead of a hearse they transported his coffin on a monster truck is that not incredible this is what they should have done for prince philip over in me i told my wife i said this is how i want my funeral to go i want to roll like the rough riders i want except i want my monster truck to go across the country uh start in brooklyn where i was born make a stop in every city i ever lived in tampa phoenix tucson seattle palm springs las vegas end up right here in hollywood with a cabo wabo brunch for everyone wouldn't that be nice will you see to it that that happens but my wishes are carried out i promise you thank you very much speaking of speaking of elaborate funerals did you watch the oscars last night this is um not that many people did it the ratings for the oscars plummeted from 23 million last year to less than 10 million this year how can something so woke put so many people to sleep i don't know but for whatever reason the awards were held at union station downtown which is the closest many of these stars have ever been to public transportation and they they tried to mix it up they really did this was the oscars that finally answered the question what happens when you don't cut off the acceptance speeches turns out they go on for a very long time and then he had another problem which was the idea of holding an award show in a train station on behalf of dana and kemp powers our co-director this film started as a love letter to jazz but we had no idea how much jazz would teach us about life very tragic that was the team from the movie soul that won best animated feature in a way they got a soul train award didn't they there were some surprises last night notably in the category of best actor everyone thought that would go to the late chadwick boseman they even saved the category for the end of the show assuming it would be a big emotional moment to wrap it up but instead of chadwick boseman anthony hopkins won best actor for playing a man with dementia and the father and he was so committed to his role he forgot to show up for the oscars and this is true he was reportedly asleep when he won which is not a great sign for network television when they say hey anthony you know you might win tonight he's like i'll watch it on youtube tomorrow but it was an historic evening you know before last night an oscar had never been given to a still photo of anthony hopkins before the big winner was nomad land that one best picture best director and the star of that movie francis mcdormand took home best actress this was frances mcdormand's third oscar and she's great absolutely great actress but whenever she gives a speech it's like you know when on like saturday morning you get a knock on the door and you think i probably shouldn't answer that and then you do and then there's a couple there to share the good news about jehovah and you tolerate it because they seem sincere and you're just trying to end the conversation as quickly as possible so you can get back in the house that's how francis mcdormand gives an acceptance speech she's just not that into it i wouldn't be surprised if they found her first two oscars rolling around in her trunk or something guillermo was at the oscars last night did you have fun i always have fungi you always have fun yes but when you say you always have fun i wonder did you actually have fun at the oscars last night uh they gave you a bad spot didn't they they gave us a bus spot but we make it the best time for us well sure yeah guillermo's on the red carpet he risked his life to be there for us and we will have his exclusive report with all the stars a little later on hey speaking of stars caitlyn jenner over the weekend announced that she's planning to run for governor of california in the recall election later this year caitlyn is running as a republican and has promised that if elected she will make sure she is never allowed to use a public restroom again you know the last republican to win a recall election our state do you know who that was arnold arnold schwarzenegger who has not weighed in on caitlyn jenner yet but he will be with us later tonight so we'll find out what he thinks about our possible first lady governor and millions of americans are vaccinated right now as of last week 140 million americans have had at least one shot but many now are skipping the second shot according to the cdc 88 not 80 8 of people who got their first dose have missed their appointment for the second dose which is confusing you know the second shot's the one that gives you the lasting immunity it's like buying fruit on the bottom yogurt and only eating the yogurt part of it it doesn't make sense you have to get both shots which i don't know i have a wild idea just hear me out what if we all just did what the health experts tell us to do i know it's it's so not crazy it just might work it's thursday mark joe biden's 100th day in office and uh yet there are still some who are contesting the results of the election in arizona the republican-led state senate has called for an audit of the results of maricopa county that's phoenix it's the largest county in the state and one that went for joe biden they've taken possession of the ballots and the machines and everything and they hired a consulting company from florida to go through it all in secret they hired a company that has no experience counting ballots was founded by a guy who's spread election conspiracies before and the name of the company for real is cyber ninjas the cyber ninjas are counting ballots in arizona this is their website they they've entrusted our democracy to a company that has swords on their homepage and this is good too i guess this is supposed to be a cyber ninja barely looks more like a guy who's about to masturbate at the library so i have to ask the my pillow guy about this on wednesday he will be with us but first back to the stuff that really matters which is awards we have a beloved oscar tradition here at the show every year guillermo rents a golden tuxedo and hits the red carpet to chat with the stars as they make their way into the theater usually he will offer a pre-show shot of tequila to the nominees but this year because of the pandemic no one was allowed to do that and this is how far guillermo was stationed away from action this the only person farther away was anthony hopkins last night but distance and disease are hardly enough to stop our hero and so here we go once again it's guillermo's night to shine from a safe distance on the red carpet or near it at the oscars [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] they put us all the way to the end
