[Music] hey everyone welcome back to the channel my name is TBR Schmidt and this is my wife Samantha hello and today we are watching JFK what do you know about this movie this one our drama patreon poll so we'd like to thank our patrons for voting for this to win our drama patreon poll this is about JFK okay that's all I got I don't even know who's in this movie I know this is a very long movie for us I'm not like a conspiracy type person but I know that there's a lot of different conspiracies surrounding JFK's death and I think that was the biggest thing that we found out before watching the movie was that I think we both thought that this movie was like about JFK like it was following JFK but I think it's about yeah while he was alive yeah but it's not that yeah it's about the uh investigation to his assassination so that I think is going to be incredibly interesting yeah like you said this is an extremely long movie we've had a handful of long movies this month with Dune then with patent and then now JFK Long movies I used to love I was like give me the longest movie ever now when you were just watching when I'm just watching yeah sure but now it's like so reversed because obviously the time it takes to edit a long movie is like [ __ ] me and then also we obviously have a little kid now little kid sounds we have a baby yeah I was like she's not quite a kid but everything we do has to revolve around her schedule so long movies are such daunting tasks but I think the excitement that we have for this yeah it's going to outweigh the devastation that this toll takes on us or this movie takes on us if that makes sense yeah and I like I think if you've watched our Channel at all you know that we love like detective type thriller movies yeah and I think that's what this is if it's not honestly we're probably going to be a little bit disappointed right yeah so yeah I'm really excited to see this but I mean the general like history of the assassination I feel like I've seen probably more on the conspiracy theories versus seeing like what is like the well-known like facts if there are facts or um I'm not very knowledgeable of it in general I mean what I know like grassy null and then what's that grassy null now that's not where they thought they took the shot from oh from okay yeah cuz he was in a parade yeah JFK but I think he was in a window but then also I think like the gun that was used it would require multiple shots or I don't know we're obviously about to find out but my knowledge is really low I'm not like I'm blanking on the name who the [ __ ] is name Lee Harvey Oswell Le I was only I was thinking of Tommy Lee Jones was the I knew it was like three I was like I'm pretty sure Tommy Lee Jones hasn't killed JFK anytime oh my God we sound so dumb in this introduction Lee Harvey Oswald yes okay yeah so there's a general very Baseline knowledge and I don't know if this is going to cover the most well-known idea or if this is going to explore like a lot of different things yeah so regardless I'm just super excited to get to understand this part of History a little bit better yeah and um I believe it's Oliver Stone is the feel like they could just keep bearing it and keep pushing it yeah all right that was JFK what' you think whoa yeah first of all that was an extremely difficult movie to react to I feel like if I wanted to say anything I was going to interrupt like a very important piece of dialogue that movie has to have some of like the highest amount of like dialogue per length of movie whatever that ratio is I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to say like there was almost no time to interject our own commentary because it was so insanely fast-paced with what was going on with the editing with the dialogue that there was just like no time to breathe it's like a it's like a over three-hour movie and I don't think it ever slowed down no I there was there was like no time to even process what was happening let alone say something out loud so the reaction is definitely a lot of I'm sure I mean once it's edited I'm sure it's going to be mostly just like shocked with very small comments so not totally how we would love to do a reaction but you can't take it all in and it's difficult to with reactions just like to for copyright uh we have to include our commentary plus we also have to chop the [ __ ] out of anything we watch just for copyright reasons and the issue is that like there was conversations that would stretch for 10 minutes or something that speech at the end that speech at the end was like 20 minutes I'm only going to be able to show like little fragments of five or sixc parts so I can already Envision this this reaction is going to be chopped to hell and I don't think it's going to really reflect how our experience was because this was truly an amazing movie I feel like yeah no this was incredible and honestly like this only just inspired me to want to look up so much of all of the conspiracy theories regarding JFK's death there's a little bit of comfort in ignorance and just like not really caring you know like just live your life being totally blind to the amount of [ __ ] around us yeah and I feel like this movie is going to turn me into the worst type of person and I'm only going to be skeptical of everything and I'm going to be a massive conspiracy theorist moving forward and I'm going to question everything to an aggressively uh terrible degree so this movie it was a little too much no there's so much going on that I mean this movie is filled with massive names of actors yeah the cast was huge to begin with but with this huge cast I mean I'm honestly thankful that there was such a big cast cuz honestly if some of these actors hadn't been like recog iable to me I might have started messing up people's uh the characters names right like you're so familiar with Joe pesi and like Kevin Bacon like you're locked in on who this person is in terms of their role in this overarching story even though the overarching story is so [ __ ] confusing yeah it's just there's so much there's just so much information yet somehow no information it like you get both ends of the spectrum like this is so Mass massive so many like angles and conspiracies and whatever and so many plot holes not necessarily plot holes but like there's just so much to look at yet you get nowhere when you actually look at it I can see with the amount of information that they had how it was so easy to make like a three plus hour movie because this is wild and I feel like like you said like there was no part of this film that stopped so for them to try to squeeze all of this information into this just over 3-hour movie is crazy like I'm wondering that you got to tell me there's got to be like a series or something like a limited series this could be go through this 10 hours and I would still be like not enough yeah so this entire case is wild to me I we touched on in the beginning what kind of like little knowledge we have I even like I had forgotten that Lee Harvey oswal was killed almost immediately after being arrested I was shocked I was like oh yeah that's right he died yeah and then uh same with Robert Kennedy I knew that Robert Kennedy died I didn't know and I knew that he was killed like while giving a speech but I didn't know when that was and for it to happen so quickly um it felt quick obviously to us watching this I don't know in relation to like the actual timeline at least a few years because we had a three-year jump and then there was probably years worth of Investigation or whatever but yeah for us it's just like it's just shocking I mean I'm sure for a bunch of people who went through this and lived through this that it was just uh something that you couldn't like take your eyes away from and couldn't stop consuming this type of information yeah at least for us you know it's you get the Baseline of like oh here's what we're kind of told has happened and you know enough that you're like that does not seem totally possible but you don't really dive that much deeper into it but this movie Just unlocks so much that you're just like that has to be [ __ ] that has to be [ __ ] and then you move on to the next person the next thing you're like that has to be [ __ ] and then you add everything up and you're like I don't know what to do well and like the amount of fear that we saw from so many of the people so we're not even getting like the full stories on things um and then the people that are giving fullish stories a lot of it is probably lies as well there's so much cover up happening and there's way too many people involved whether they're actually involved or they're just like a little bit involved like is Lee Harvey Oswald the um like scapegoat in all of this obviously he was part of the plan but then they kind of you know shaped it for him to just be okay let's just move on to the next step because what was supposed to happen didn't happen so I'm just still going to go meet at this theater and yeah so like there's just so much involved and we took like a you know two-minute break here after we watched the movie just to go check on the baby and I you know my mom was like what did you think and I'm like there's he didn't do it he didn't do it and my mom's like Oh well I think he did it so I don't know I mean she you know she was a child essentially when this actually happened but she said that she remembers like all this coverage of it and whatever but then it goes into the whole like media play of it which we also just watch Patton um so I feel like we talk about like what kind of the media portrays and like how that kind of shapes like the public opinion I guess of things which I feel like is very relevant to current times but watching something like this and you know I know that there's a million conspiracy theories out there for so many massive things that have happened um even while you know we've been alive as well right and a lot of the time you're like a gay like here's your like tin foil hat type of thing yeah oh you [ __ ] crazy son of a [ __ ] but this was like very convincing obviously for what we're seeing so this in itself too also I feel like is easy to sway people right yeah cuz you could watch this movie and be like oh I [ __ ] agree with all of this but I'm sure there's probably another movie out there that's like oh what the heck it was Lee Harvey o well the whole time exactly so I it's it's wild I feel like the Magic Bullet is the thing that really did it for me um and the the murder weapon that they set as the murder weapon the fact that like nobody could replicate that even like the best of the best yeah uh there's a couple of things that also hit a little bit personally like I have never seen that footage to see that footage and I thought in the beginning of the movie they cut away from it once you hear The Gunshot uh I was like okay they're probably out of respect or something not going to show that yeah then you get to the end of the movie and they aggressively show it they show it over and over they show it in slow motion and it's just just a weird feeling because this movie would be amazing and captivating if it was a fictional story about some madeup president this is real American history that's real footage of one of our greatest presidents to most people getting his head blown up yeah it is so graphic and for me like to see that footage also just to see his head getting blown backwards from a shot that looks like it's coming from the front or at least from the side then you put in the difficulty of the shot I mean there's a lot of holes in what we are told um so I think it has to be one of the most uh common conspiracy theories if you even want to call that or it's more of just like an unsolved case yeah so it was just so impactful and devastating to see that actual footage tied in with the three plus hours we got before that leading up to it another thing is when you start going through the reasoning of why you would get rid of some of these figures like John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King and uh Robert Kennedy the idea of change and specifically peace and that's why you're taking out it's also just a depressing world to think that we live in and it most likely is just our reality that it's like the people who are put here to try to make peace or to better the world are just taken out for the status quo and I've said it before I graduated with mechanical engineering if you know anyone in engineering there is a 99% chance that that person who's studying engineering is going to end up working in some capacity for the military if you go to any recruitment while you're in school for engineering it is all of the top military companies they give nice lucrative offers you're going to end up working for the military complex industrial complex whatever you want to call it that's just the reality of it and I went through that reality well just cuz it's the the money in everything and that's the thing it's like it's not even necessarily about the peace and people not wanting peace it's that the peace affects the wallets and to hear about the money that we spend on War I mean I know that for a fact when there is war profit goes up for some of our biggest companies that you don't want to think control everything thing but they have a hell of a lot of pool and a lot of influence when it's kind of uh War's business yeah and it's it's difficult when you watch this type of movie because we unfortunately just like living in America we see that there can just be like a lone killer yeah like somebody that's lost the plot and they just go and shoot up whatever it may be um far too often yeah so it's not like it's not not believable yeah it's not not plausible that this would have been done by a single angry person but obviously this movie goes to show you that it doesn't seem like it actually is plausible in in the general sense of things like yeah like there was a bunch of stuff that obviously went wrong we heard from Mr X that you know um he was taken away that they changed the route that they didn't have their usual number of people um that people wouldn't be able to get that close even to the vehicle there would the vehicle slowing down like the fact that there was no top on the vehicle like all of the different things that added up to what happened that day um but it it's really not unbelievable that it would just be a single crazy person that would do that so it's that's where the whole conspiracy theory aspect comes into play is could you just have a series of unfortunate events I mean think about just the Kennedy in general right yeah so it's just it's it's tough um and this movie goes into some of your the wildest like fears essentially the the amount of fear that we see of people afraid of telling the truth or the repercussions of telling the truth even like Kevin Cosner's own family or I should say Jim Garrison's family like the destructive pattern that came from his obsession with finding like because it's not necessarily this shining achievement of like yes truth wins and it was all worth it yeah was it he got [ __ ] nowhere and not like we as American citizens still don't know anything yeah like yeah the end credits they are kind of explaining where we're at as of you know 1991 the time of this movie nothing has really changed since the time of this movie no when we saw something like 20129 maybe someone also said something like 20 38 yeah there's no [ __ ] way we're ever going to know and the longer we get away from it the more it's just going to get buried the more people die and pass away who might have some hint or clue that unlocks everything uh overall it's just very depressing and no matter which way you look at it we still live in a world where a crazy person can just take out someone so influential all by themselves or on the flip side that our own government that we should trust just [ __ ] takes out someone like no matter what you look it's all terrible yeah uh there was no winners we're all losers that was a great movie damn no that was an incredible film though so one of my favorite parts of the film was I guess there's like two favorite parts that I have first is John Williams the music yes phenomenal um I feel like it there was so much tension or mostly tension and the fear of people being scared to talk about anything um the I think in particular there was that one scene that led up to the actual footage right um and the music there because I I did not think that they were going to show it and they did so kind of that lead up to it for me like I was like oh like I it wasn't doing exactly what it was supposed to be doing because I didn't think that they were going to show it and then I guess my second favorite or top other top favorite part um was just the Kevin Conner's performance at the very end there just breaking down everything I'm so glad we got that it kind of summarized everything we had been going through really kind of put everything together in a way that you can kind of understand it a little bit better um but I mean the performances across the board were outstanding Joe peshy was fantastic I can't with the wig the wig was driving me nuts though I know but it was because of the cancer and stuff no just that it kept like moving like I understand that it was important right but it was so blaring yeah Mr X kind of information dub was brilliant Gary Oldman as uh Lee Harvey Oswald like we only kind of got brief little snapshots but I'm like this could have all been real footage and I would have totally believed it 100% um the the performances across the board were fantastic and for such a long movie that is heavy on the dialogue like there's not necessarily action or explosions or something like it is mostly just unwrapping this mystery it kept my attention every second for over three hours yeah no I was never like okay like yeah move it on yeah no I was captivated the entire film incredible this is like there's a lot of movies that I think are like required viewing I would slot this in as something that everyone should see yeah I agree with that regardless if you care about American history or conspiracy theories or whatever it's just such a quality movie uh and I feel like it changes how you think after which I feel like movies have that power to affect who you are as a person and this changed me again not not for the better I know let me be very clear I am now worse our dinner conversations for the next at least until maybe you forget about this film until I watch like Lord of the Rings again or something and then I'll forget about them but um yeah for the time being I'm going to be looking up some of the coolest most unanswered conspiracy theories yeah but this was great so thank you for everyone who voted for this to win and it always seems like I'm so afraid to watch long movies but we've watched a handful of very long movies on this channel and I'm always Blown Away by them always always they're always fantastic and they're always worth the length of time um even though it's not the time of watching that you're not looking forward to it's the editing right it's the editing and yeah just the difficulty of jamming it into our already difficult schedule yeah but this was worth it yeah um bum this is probably not going to be the greatest movie for reaction content but I'm so glad that we watched this yeah um and got to discuss it so I'm excited to read the comments on this one um oh I the comments are going to be wild I think I know
