Jen Kingwell at the Stitchin' Post

[Music] Oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] go [Music] Oh [Music] living in sisters and having the stitching post only a short walk away from home is one of the blessings in my life I am so proud of this shop every time I walk in it just is a riot of color and the samples are fabulous I'm always inspired even though I'm mostly a primitive girl I think I could make that kittycat from my new grandbaby there's always projects here that make you want to expand yourself in your quilting life and I so enjoy that I enjoy walking into this shop like I would enjoy walking into any art gallery or museum and and when you see something you just it connects the dots and something you want to do make have seen or the possibilities in your sewing life I don't think anyone would be disappointed when they come into this shop there just is such a wide variety of fabrics colors and projects you don't just have to be a quilter here you can be a knitter you can make person you can make clothing but truly the heart of this shop is built videoing good morning what are you doing sir I'm here for my class I know that I thought oh I should take advantage and video the shop before there's too many of my body to avoid except for you can say hi hi and how are you all ready for the focus affairs young ha ha ha [Music] and [Music] [Applause] [Music] imagine we are so happy excited blast and lucky enough Jen come here before clapping it so we're really excited to welcome John here for this 24 days and it's going to be you know endearing pop so she wanted me excited anyone because miss protection doesn't know that they're here because I'm training someone on youtube along yes on YouTube I'm Anakin to give you all the details of that could you so speaking for the weekend so just let her know if you don't wish to be part of that okay she promised me she'll only get me some ugly side yeah yeah and I recognize insides in the room thank you ladies for coming back the second time and listening to me did you just go insane you know I I feel really blessed that I get to do this because it's you know I pinch myself it's a job you know like I did my work but I think that I get to do what you guys will do some pleasure I need to do it and call it work is a pretty pretty special thing I'm a midwife by trade so I went from being a midwife to doing this like what can I say the two very very very best jobs in the whole wide world would be those two jobs so I feel like I just have floated from one idyllic Koyuk situation to another using my saw as a sampler beginning to project some of the blocks is super easy some of them get a little more complex as you go along I'm remaking this one in under Ian green because one of the colorable coups are thrown with ultimate ease we don't love it this one is very strong and very dark pretty flowers once again another sort of Sam's lifestyle quilt when my husband wanted my store and she called me the queen samplers and I've chuckled when she said it's a better thought to do a lot of sort of sampler type things so I guess embrace what will archive on and polishing so today's that our machine project what a little pieces lots of the pieces of my members are my art my clothing he wrote sketches and worked up standard at all interest one masseuse all that she really wants you more than welcome to take photos coming take close-ups speaker and find a course that you want and need by far my most salt pens every twenty nice notions put an order in you can bet the boys a smattering of stuff and or wasting supply business metal this one's from my book put lovely are you name your cloth with great difficulty I really did the one thing I struggle with I quite often without the wider audience my three children well have been tried this is another one is a predominantly machine paste with a little bit of pain teaching a condition after that's a few personal favorite yeah you're kind of steampunk I'm remaking this one introduced to just to show so when I made this one it was earned for me this is what I call the limited palette which was pretty cool now a lot of that my my locks are always simple simple simple walk in front of another hypotenuse but it's once again displaying the favorite that teach you the different way this is just a two block book a pit book and we just added a patent well an extension to my patents called the Genki mile collective and so they're girls that works for me that are now producing patents so we have Bluetooth in Louise peppers and Michonne Killip now then when it comes to name equals this one is Lucien a while we were pet well off during the pen writing where he does a graphics person survive happy we were referring to it Tom as in template of the month and then we chose to hang upside at Tom let's all go blank that's what would work because they're tied it's a small curve over time so if you had something like a stripe that you were working okay oh they're fancy I am darling provide so when we first start with fabric what I might do like not so much I don't choose like this but what I do with people in this store is they come in and they've got no idea about what they want to I get them to choose a feature that okay and so usually something that's got quite a few colors in it so let's say for example you're given to choose work with life and the feature that objects good okay so it might be something like this you know with lots of color and lots of prettiness and so then I'll ask them to choose six fabrics that have these colorings in that I might choose that so they might choose a fabric that was an orange background but it had something that wasn't in the fabric so it might be an orange background and it might be a let's say this fabric didn't have any purple in it but had that orange but it had a big purple spot on us even though Purple's nothing is original one but they've got the orange so that's okay then when we come to run folk chosen those six and we down to the third layer they can start choosing fabrics that have got the colors that are in the second layer that are not in the first layer within the send layer and so that way you can build a very comprehensive palette that you know is going to go together but it also throws in some other colors that aren't anywhere else in those fabrics that they now so with this one I look at that and for me that white background is not going to work that well I give that a cup of tea okay-y [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Oh [Music] oh my gosh you look at how amazing that beers [Music]
