I am in total and complete awe.
This will put away any of his critics who talk about him being all theory and no substance. This shows a level of musical maturity above anything we've seen from Jacob before. The way he creates these textures and colours, the way he develops them throughout the song, that crashing emotional climax -- it's more impressive than microtonal voice leading and super hyper etc lydian any day. This is Jacob showing his musicianship at its finest. I'm crying at how beautiful it is. I love this so much.
The man really wants another grammy huh
Iβm honestly not coping. I have a little ritual for when he releases new music where I put on my fav headphones, find a comfy quiet place, and just close my eyes, and Iβm just not coping. It feels like I was just given the warmest, sweetest hug in form of song. Iβm in genuine awe, Iβm just frozen in my bed.
Insane stuff! Sounds like the beginning part is cut short on the single/album version for some reason which is a shame
I love all the heavyweight musicians that show up in the intro. And you so rarely hear him play standards. It's always so great when he does.
The C major triad at the end with the high C is so satisfying. Encapsulates the entire thing perfectly.
That first crescendo made me tear up, and it is very, very rare for a song to do that to me. I'm really blown away by this. Jacob's use of microtonality for ornamentation and dramatic effect is truly innovative and special, I think, and I really hope that more musicians see how evocative it can be and use it in their own songs.
I'm still in awe of what I just listened to. There's just so much depth and nuance. I couldn't even begin to comprehend how much time and effort went into this.
I really just canβt get past this recording. Itβs so epic in scope, and the ending I find to be one of the most moving pieces of music that Iβve heard in a long time.
This fucking kid... πππ
