I love Jacob, but that's mostly based on his talent and his personality, and only somewhat his actual recorded music. I like his first album a lot, but I'm not the biggest fan of the Djesse stuff so far. His talent is pretty undeniable, but I totally get that his style isn't for everyone. For anyone who dislikes Collier, I urge you to give this a listen:

He's improvising with Mathis Picard (a fantastic pianist) and his talent and energy can really come through without getting overly busy. Again, I love Jacob, but I totally understand that his style isn't for everyone. Easily one of the best concerts I've ever seen though, his energy is pretty unreal in person.
I think some people just find him kind of annoying.
How does this video work? I get that he is into multi-tracking like a madman but this seems beyond green screen trickery.

he's clinically unmusical. and basic. I've been a musician for 20 years and worked with hundreds of people and I have never met a good musician who rates Collier - most actively can't stand him. If you need help understanding hmu I have an endless supply
ALERT: Jacob Collier's talent is IN DOUBT. He is the untalented Mr Ripley. He is clinically unmusical and BAD.
I just wish there was a forum that allowed me to express this without shadow banning me or blocking me from the channel. It's a shame, because people might learn a thing or two if they took a moment to ask me what I'm talking about.
I actually never knew Jacob Collier had this much hate. However this comes with the territory of being the level of fame he has, so it is expected. Let’s not forget he could generate interest in music. I haven’t seen someone from Jazz get that much attention in ages. The last person who did this was Esperanza Spaulding; when she became the first Jazz musician to win best new comer at the Grammys. Infact he has inspired me to make more music and explore different styles to add in my arsenal.
I think most of us were introduced to him years ago when he was on YouTube doing multitrack videos of jazz standards by himself, and now here he is on Jimmy Kimmel Live with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign who happens to be smoking a blunt the whole time
