river is something that I think about a lot you are kind of one cm of life going around and projecting and perceiving and absorbing but you're also made of everything a boat is the river they're the same if I could I go with you to a place I never knew in your eyes so dark and open there's a light that leads me back to you sometimes when I'm feeling like out of it I just walk down the street and look at everybody's eyes and it brings me straight back to myself which is kind of an amazing thing I think again about the idea of being a very very very young child and looking into the eyes of your mother right or father and also being the mother or father and look looking into those deep deep eyes of a baby I think about being you know very very young and very very old as well at the same time and how those two things speak to each other something magical going on there cuz you're not so far away I hear you say You'll Never Walk Alone a lot of your life is lived without the people you love right next to you I think the idea that those you love are never truly away from you is a huge idea and something i' really carry and the idea that even if the person is not there they're never further away than they are in your heart and your mind you're never truly alone as long as you have ever loved sing in Don't Be Afraid of the Dark in your heart you're going to find a way to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders you're going to find find a way home the only dark I'm ever afraid of is the dark in my heart in a sense we think of ourselves as cameras right but we're we're just projectors and so if you see the dark then you are the dark and yeah there are days where where I am afraid of that dark and think am I what's going on here how do I find the way back up and then the process and the study of it was um all the different ways you can get home my idea of Home has has evolved a lot over the years it used to be one room where I made all my music and then over the last 10 years or so I've been doing much more traveling and now home is like in my body there's a home that me back to you it's almost like the idea of this home whatever that means for you is a magnet of sorts and and will will pull you back to that truth and that that Solace cuz you're not so far away I hear you say You'll Never Walk Alone harmonically this goes into kind of some outrageous places it feels like you're going on this journey right so this song is an EF flat major one of the best keys in the world like don't even argue with me in the comments it was important for me in what the song is about to depart from E flat out moments and then find your way back you know it's kind of literal in a sense but this second preor is I think it's my favorite moment of the song harmonically because it starts in c minor and then it goes to a minor which is gorgeous and then to F and then it goes to D major which is like whoa D major so amazing I really enjoyed the challenge of threading together these key centers and then getting from D back to E flat major was was was was an interesting challenge I had to hop through and then to that that helpful um there like a of d flat 7 over E flat which is like just such a helpful Avenue and once I finish that precourse like that's when I really knew this song like it this song has to be written and everything lined up and it fan of Brandy caral for so many years she's a master Storyteller and when she sings a word you believe her you trust her and she has that way just in in every note that she sings of pulling from her life Brandy really came through and I got those stems and it was just like straight in my heart
