hey guys subscribe to the channel if you want to see more drives and if you want to learn how you can do that yourself at home well that would be that'd be impressive if somebody if you can make the line go where you never see another part of the line you know you're hitting it pretty straight go over to the numbers here Mike 133 Club 202 ball the yeah and long and straight we we want to tackle both not just one that's right I'm here with the longest driver in the world the longest Lefty in the world and when you're talking about something that so many people do which is swing a golf club and everybody who has ever swung a golf club wants to do it fast but there can be only one there can be only one fastest so let's get into numbers sure Dan longest ever drive of your life 479 yards so that is the world's longest Lefty Drive I uh is it in the Guinness world no so you know it's um yeah it's it's the record of world long drive it's on TV them come up right here look at this 142 211 had a little curve probably a toe shot this one could be interesting here it's going to stay in oh that's a huge nugget right there 479 is the official number that's awesome same day I met my wife just a good day so confirm chicks dig the long ball that's right definitely and uh all right so other numbers uh fastest Club head speed ever fastest Club speed is 150 uh which was live on the Golf Channel the first time that I got there and then uh 221 miles hour in training uh prior to 2017 when I got on the final eight telecast that year ball speed balled yeah wow what year was that 2017 okay so you were like the last year they were broadcasting it uh yeah right before they went off and now maybe they'll be back golf score-wise like are you like really just a long driver only or do you a golfer as well good good question yeah so I my lowest score is 62 which I've done three different times three different countries good for nine holes so yeah it is 18 holes yeah exactly so um I'm a golf professional from Canada and um you know played the game first they actually convinced me to go try a long drive went out there uh bought the guy's driver qualified yeah uh here I am now 12 years later there's this meme where they go around asking hockey players if you weren't a hockey player what would you like to do every single guy goes PJ T live PJ tour PJ pro golfer were you a hockey player first I was oh okay okay what do you think is the correlation between so many you know Jam Sadowski obviously famous conversion sure and uh there's a lot of hockey players that have had success with golf um what do you think is the the reason that yeah a few different things I mean it's opposite season which is just you know they really like to do it in their downtime but also there's a lot of correlations between uh the the golf swing and maybe a slap shot or skating so when you're skating uh you're just delivering one leg and really building those glutes and that and that power uh slapshot as well you actually hit the ground with your stick before you hit it so you bend the stick you really get into the ground and then you kind of come up and let the stick whip it through so so the stick gets like really flexed and then as it's coming through it unflexed through exactly okay okay it's a little different yeah so the club doesn't slide on the ground in golf but the stick does in hockey so you can really use the ground so they really use learn to use the ground plus they have uh you know really developed glutes and just rotational strength and power from from shooting let me ask you this like CU people have said this you know in hockey in field hockey and in uh uh some other sports they do a split hand grip why do you think they don't use a split hand grip in golf it might seem like an obvious question but I but I want to see what your thoughts yeah so split hand grip that would probably be where you're trying to get more power um you know you're trying to dig into the ground versus the golf swing you can use a little more wrist and hinges and the club's a lot lighter the balls a lot lighter yeah the Puck's really heavy the ball the cross ball is heavy so in that case you'd want kind of a a better power hand and that's actually how I teach Juniors how I taught my son yeah start with a split grip cuz they really learn how to uh both arm structures work and front of their bodies uh and then actually on their own they start to move the hands in because they realize they get more power all right is that a eight iron this is seven iron okay hit a seven iron for there we go holy mackerel I don't know how to read this okay 212 220 yard yep so 220 total the things that I like to see though I gosh that was straight as hell that's right I want to hit long and I want to hit straight too so the club path and Club face are point four apart and that's how it's going to go straight for you that's kind of learning how to use the upper body and lower body together you can control the face a lot better yeah and you can also uh develop a little bit more speed by stretching the system out okay so that's what we're going to talk about today uh Dan has this golf swing philosophy called like the sling swing or something something like that where he thinks that maybe people have the wrong idea of you know when they're thinking about muscling the ball and the muscles hitting the ball he thinks it may be a little different so give me some idea of where you really think uh golfers can start to uh recruit more speed from their body sure absolutely so it starts from from the core and how to connect the upper body and lower body there actually is uh an all-encompassing sling system throughout our body it's fascial tissue that connects all the different muscle segments so that's like what encases all the muscles together okay yeah so I'm I'm just specifically going to focus on what happens upper body and lower body and then uh kind of the oblique slings so they work right below the belt up here both sides and then they're also on your back on both sides so it's like it's like an X that wraps arounds you here yeah and that and you're not talking like an energy system like if you if there was a kadaver you could actually see this uh yeah you can see the fascial tissue that that yeah it's like I said it's all-encompassing this is just a small segment of it but what I like to focus on uh because then I can cater my workouts and how I swing uh based on this so whenever I'm loading the body on the on the back swing I'm trying to make sure that I load all four of those slings so something could happen where maybe I stand up and kind of arch start arching the back well now I've got like a pinch sling back here this one's not engaged and so we're kind of lost already so it all starts with the core right here um so I gave you a little exercise earlier we'll just do that again so uh put your elbows down like this in kind of a posture and I'll pull down with your elbows for me in golf posture there you go so that's basically how you would want to engage the core because it's now ready for rotation so kind of leave that core in the body there and just start rotating oh like maintaining that crunch yeah like if you think of for when Ivan drag goes on that machine and he's doing it's kind of like that that kind of crunch machine you're here then you're here and you're leaving that crunch as you yep so so we'll do we'll do two more things with you uh stand up straight and all you're doing is you're going to move your upper body without moving your lower body okay okay just go to one side and let's see how far you can go okay perfect now stop all right now go from the beginning again mhm okay do that crunch crunch yep and now try to try try to turn again away from your lower body okay perfect so now you've I can see that you've got everything loaded here you got right to the same point and your legs actually didn't move as much so you actually did Stretch more um so this is yeah I can feel it in my left butt coming around here well that's good yeah cuz that left butt is connected to the shoulder you know every everything's connected on different s so they're all loading up together now my legs are in control the core is connected to my upper body so it's really easy to control the face and just so you're saying you might you can't see it but there's a huge difference in just turning or being engaged and then turning that's right because now uh you were talking about let's relate this a little bit to what Nick Dunlap just did what do you like about his swing and cuz if you look it's like wow he's really not taking it back very far 186 boss spe yeah 189 even yeah so so we had uh Nick Dunlop uh who who just won one amateur and the the swing it looks a lot like Rory col morawa also like Tony phenow so I'll relate all of these he's he's rotating his upper body back and his legs really haven't opened up that much the hips yeah you know so he's he's you know he's turning it back right there and that's that's kind of his back swing position is right right there yeah so now everything is connected his legs are still even into the ground he's connected from that front foot all the way to this wrist through the sling system because that's actually how how far it goes through you know the upper body and lower body but Tony fenale when he takes it back how does he get a little bit more power okay he loads it like he normally does not turning his legs very much but then you can turn everything from there where it's still stretched and separated mhm if you don't do that you have to turn everything back and then get the separation on on the way down which usually leads to you know hump in the shaft or the back extension disconnected flip okay this is kind of like academic let's put let's put this into ways that people can put to action right now so let's talk about uh normally what people do is they make whatever they kind of separate they make back swing move and then do something to try to then get athletic right you're what can we do to make this all staying engaged the whole time because I think what you're talking about should make more power but then also we should be able to find Center contact more often because we're staying in the shot exactly okay so what are some ways that some let's go through some drills and some y so what we're learning to do is to kind of get that separation between our upper body and lower body okay so everybody can do this it's just to a different level so you're going to tell me oh well I can't do it like Tony F now or Dunlap you know I don't have that that flexibility right so we're going to just start where we're at so what we're starting starting with is chipping here yeah okay so all I'm doing is keeping my legs there my arms stay connected in front of my chest you know I'm not throwing the arms back right so just a little so you're feeling like your hands are going like rib to rib pretty much okay yeah exactly so I'm just wow that is so straight holy mackerel yeah well all I'm doing is turning here right so you can see that this this face isn't isn't flipping yeah yeah you know so what's the drill specifically that you're doing so the drill specifically yeah is taking the club back without moving our lower body seeing how far you can go I don't care if it's just a chip shot so we're learning to for the core to control that separation so the drill is take it back without moving your lower body once you've moved your lower body you've gone too far well once you've moved your lower body you know it's time to go the other way okay so we're getting into it we're doing our dragu crunch here yep that look okay beautiful okay perfect oh want that's okay fat one more time to the ground now every time I do that he was he was filming a workout video earlier he didn't tell you strings are dead the reason I'm in I'm in these bum clothes is because we did a uh two and a half hour speed session with Barry Hensen then we did a two hour and a half long workout with Barry and Anthony so uh yeah feel not let me try this one more time I know the editor so I can there we go good good okay did it look like I successfully kept my lower body quiet enough to do this drill yeah okay good yep yep so you started you you started to get you started to get the separation and then at that point you're already separated the legs lead the way you just get kind of that extra stretch okay so so when you were hitting it fat your legs weren't taking you so I was going back and then going down with the arms rather than everything has to go through once you stretch it that's the point of stretching it going back yes okay I got you okay that's and that is powerful okay yeah yeah it is yeah cuz that was just chippy so yeah chippy 127 so I mean that's yeah that's what I do when I play in the wind if I'm struggling with my body struggling with my swing I'll just back it down to punch shot stretching the system and then bringing it all together okay y what's the next step so the next step is then learning to expand the stretch so you you stretch as far as you can without moving the legs once the system is fully stretched the legs can move a little bit and then that's when you know it's time to go the other way again oh okay let's see it okay so we're going to go a little bit longer on this one stretch so they were only 03 op so I'm not why not sure why it's saying it's curving that much but there's 222 it still feels like a 3/4 swing to me now this is what it's going to look like to you you're going back to your stretch Point you're getting a little bit extra you know it's now time to go the other way and you are going as far the other way as you can so you're still making a full follow through okay okay so this one I like that idea of the stretch point so this one we're taking it to the stretch Point without moving our legs much right yep stretch point then we take it more and then bring all that whole package together yep okay so stretch Point more and then all together right yep yep keep the core connected the whole time okay so we're doing our our Dro crunch yep okay yeah okay so everything's connected with the core make sure you just do full follow through okay there you go crushed 168 yeah beautiful cool okay yeah that's a really good eight iron yeah cool but that's a really good eight iron it doesn't feel like you took it all the way back here or you stretched your hip all the way here no I've never had that feeling before of doing the Crunch and then keeping that crunch in the whole swing I usually you feel more of a release into the back swing and then sling you know it's so that's the only muscle I really think about uh flexing or even in the gym or when I'm just doing like one-handed presses you know or deadlifts this is the transverse abdominal you know there's that internal uh abdominal pressure that we talked about where you're trying to get that maximize when you're doing a deadlift for example because you don't want the spine to move at all yeah when I saw John novasel you guys might remember those videos when I went and did the tour Tempo stuff one of the things that those guys were saying when he wants to get extra speed it's this same muscles you use to cough he feels like he goes he coughs this way and then he gets here and then he goes and coughs again and that kind of braces you inside out and like it actually that day jumped my speed like just doing that but this is like the same kind of feeling but instead of it happing like all the sudden being kind of a shock you're kind of keeping that right the whole time exactly so this is how I would always hit my irons and this is how Colin morawa is the best iron player in the world he barely takes his he's really in his posture he does yeah he doesn't take his legs back at all he just turns loads all four slings perfectly all he has to do is rotate he hits that fade every single time okay now when we get into the driver and the swing gets longer we're going to either hopefully work that our flexibility is going to get better where we can hold this Tighter and and get more separation but also we're going to just continue this back so we keep we keep the crunch but instead of crunch and just staying basically here we are rele we are getting everything this way with the crunch yeah but um it's not it's not that all at once move right we still want to do that separation move first and and then take it that that way we're still kind of connected over here we we know when it's time to go back the other way so the crucial thing for all your swings is the first the first thing you do is take it to that stretch point you like that's right so then you're stretched you're crunched and you're stretched and then you're you're keeping that same amount of crunch and stretch all the way up and through exactly okay show me your hard one yep okay so this is a hard seven iron so what are you thinking about when you're really going hard here so what I'm doing I'm actually not thinking about you know making this huge extravagant back swing I'm working on getting as much stretch as I can in the initial stages and then so that stretch point you really want to be yeah I want to be maxed out at that stretch point and then I'm GNA let that stretch point just take my legs and the whole system a little bit further and then I go as far and fast as I can through the other way cool so I pulled that one but that was that was hard the pulls go far yeah 241 on a seven iron that is really good 109 15.9 ball speed 156 ball speed wow that is fast so the club path is still good that means that was I was still rotating well but when I'm trying to go through really fast I have a tendency to you know the arms will go first or little flip so in that case I just need to speed up the rest of my body I don't like to think about what is going too fast and slowing it down I want to speed up the rest to match the speed that I got now do you like a fast back swing to then recruit more into the handle for the transition not really so if if you're taking the club back and you want to get that really good stretch you are going to need some kind of speed momentum to it kind of like you're doing the lawn mower yeah um but if you're just you know hitting a chip or even a putt I mean this is all connected there and the only thing that's moving is like the shoulders and the t-spine that's how yeah Xander shly does it you know so not that putting's my expertise but that's awesome okay all right if you guys are interested in learning more about this hit the Subscribe button we're going to be doing a couple different videos with Dan and uh he's really going to get in depth to this but you got to be sub subscribe to see it and you're interested in in learning more about Dan go to Instagram I think is the best way to connect with him or see what he get going on he's got a really cool company that is connecting long drivers to events uh for good causes so you're going to want to check out that thanks for watching bye thanks guys so let's do a similar thing but like with Woods sure so you want
