I'm not going to sugarcoat it it ain't good let's talk about the hottest books in the world and what you shouldn't be buying right now back at the table like we do every single week to talk about the hottest books in The Marketplace it takes multiple sales above average over the last 12 months to land them on our list and we got record-breaking sales and as we mentioned we got some bad news so buckle up but that's not going to happen until later on in the list so make sure to like And subscribe as we start with number 10 which is Fantastic 4 issue 48 the first appearance of noren red first appearance of Silver Surfer first Cameo appearance of galatis and we have an incomplete 0.5 registering a $370 sale an increase of 9% the 4 five up 4% just like the 55 and a 65 sold for 2374 an increase of 14% this book in April of this year at a 9.8 sold for $63,000 comparing that to the height of 2021 sale of 108,000 has some real effects on the lower grades this book is selling for about average and because of the hype as it pertains to the first Marvel family the Silver Surfer casting the galatis casting it makes sense why people are feeling safe right now to buy a major Blue Chip Jack Kirby key and we've got yet another fantastic forecasting with Natasha Leon now we're speculating she may play Alicia Masters the blind girlfriend of the thing the daughter of the puppet master and she's actually the Earthling who talks norrad into sparing Earth we know John malovich is also cast for an undisclosed role I can totally see him portraying puppet master and it makes sense with list just two weeks ago glad to see it back especially with all the Deadpool and Wolverine hype 6 .5 went for $700 that's 5% above his 12mon average the 8.0 is up 6% the 85 is up 16% the 90 up 4% and the 9.2 just came in at $2,300 for an increase of 9% fluctuating between 5 and 10% increases on average this book is just down and members are looking at it as a prime time to buy with all the excitement that Wolverine has to bring courtesy of Deadpool Wolverine coming out in just a couple months there's also celebration happening this year 50 years since Wolverine was created and we're seeing another drop this week announced we have a five issue miniseries that's going to be written by Jonathan Hickman and art done by Greg Capo and we have pages to look at and I'm a Jurassic Park kid so seeing Greg kulo drawing Wolverine riding in on the Triceratops sign me up I love it I'm no Ross Geller but I definitely like some dinosaurs in my comic books Let's Take a look at number eight on the list with the last Ronin issue number one TMNT video game announced R-rated liveaction movie announced the book has landed on the hot 10 four different times in like a month and this book has so many sales and record-breaking sales let's jump into the numbers the 9.8 just clocked in a year high sale coming in at $350 which is 76% above his 12-month average and get this 13 copies outperform the average this week we also got a 9.9 that sold for $630 that's 35% above average and two copies outperformed that 12 month this week the sheer quantity of movement of this book seems outstanding but we'll get to the Census count and it'll make a little bit more sense then we have the 9.2 registering a record-breaking sale last selling in July for 113 up 58% for an allnew high of $178 and then we have a 10.0 last selling in 2023 for a record high of ,750 Now setting the new floor at $2600 for an increase of 49% it's starting to feel like the comic boom all over again I'm just kidding it's a 10.0 in which there are 23 copies on the census the 9.9 has 363 and get this in the last 14 days there's been an increase of seven copies added to the census but wait it goes even deeper that it does Tom we have 28 more copies added to the cgc census which is two copies per day for the last two weeks everyone needs to read this especially if you're a Turtles fan because the tone is going to be so important to get right in a liveaction adaptation because this isn't a funny narrative this is a dark gritty narrative it's sad there's a lot of death of your favorite characters in this very run because it follows the last Ronin but it goes back in time to show you how he became that character it's the perfect movie script I mean this is basically like Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns but for Turtles but somehow even darker I really like that comparison gem that's an astute observation looking at number seven on the list with Marvel Premiere number 15 real talk I see this book on the hot 10 and I start to feel a little bad gem because this book came out in 1974 it's a Bronze Age major key for an amazing character that has been on the screen and a character we expect to see on the screen again in under a year we're talking about Iron Fist here and in a 9.4 you can get this book at certain times of the year around the $600 marker the 9.8 hit Heights of 12,000 and recent sales have been under $4,000 this book is down 75 to 80% yeah it's not looking too good for this book it has been hot this week though and it could be due to like you said the Daredevil Born Again series is it going to be featuring other Netflix Defenders characters we have a cgc 5.5 selling for $200 that's 33% above 12-month average the 6.0 was up 25% the 8.0 was selling for around average about $269 the 9.0 is up 12% and the 9.4 like Tom said get it around 600 bucks the highest this week sold for 650 which is just about 3% above its average so this book is getting to the floor and it's Hit the Floor hard and I think this is one of those ones that have suffer the most turbulence over this adjustment period that we've been in because of the lackluster show but then combined with the riskiness of overpaying for a book that has been on the downturn for years yeah this is probably the worst time to buy a few books that are on this list but it might just be the best time to buy the first appearance of ironfist if that's what you're into and there's another reason to celebrate this is also the 50th anniversary of ironfist there's going to be a one shot anniversary special coming out this year and you got Chris Claremont doing one of the stories in the book this is going to be a interesting pivotal point for this comic book because I do not see it dropping much and I think these sales indicate that there's a lot of collectors that are looking at this book and they are agreeing with you Jem well I think they would agree that this Deadpool vers Wolverine Ivan to variant is titled Captain America run in the Silver age you know what's funny cap always seems to find his way on this list whether it's the big Premiere issue whether it's Avengers 4 and here today with Captain America 100 is it because of Captain America brav New World the movie that's currently in the works the 2.5 is up 28% the 50 is up 20% the 6.0 is up 11% all of these are double digit percentage increases the 8.0 is up 26% the 92 sold for 1775 it would have been more fitting to be 1776 for cap but that's still up 177% over its 12mon average we got some updates on Brave New World which I'm excited about but we've said it a few times there was a 9.9 sale that occurred in January of this year and it sold for what it had sold for last in April 2021 $78,000 there's only two99 in existence of this book and that sale we've checked the CT number it's the same book so out of the two copies only one has sold and it's the same one which means the other person beholding it we actually did get some kind of news regarding Captain America Brave New World over on the Michael Rosen bomb podcast you remember him from playing Lex Luthor in Smallville he had Blake Nelson on the show talking about reprising his role as the leader and it got us thinking about the connections to Thunderbolt Ross as Red Hulk and She-Hulk in that show villains were trying to grab that Hulk irradiated blood that gamma radiation so that they can become Hulk like themselves are we going to see them tie that narrative into this movie well we're not going to have to wait very long cuz this movie has been pushed back to February 20125 I mean it's still on slate and in the distance well we have uh number five on the list on Kenny X-Men 266 the First full appearance of Gambit on the cover he's been in a comic book before but we're not going to get into it this book is seeing major upticks after X-Men 97 don't forget about the Channing Tatum rumors possibly portraying Gambit in Deadpool Wolverine but I think this has more to do with apocalypse and what's going on with the horsemen of death but let's talk about the 60 up 18% 76% the 80 is up 73% that sold for 225 you could have gotten that for 130 someone overpaid because the 85 sold for 145 an increase of 7% the 90 sold for 206 an increase of 29% the 92 is up 20% the 94 is up 7% and hot damn I'm not done the mark Jeweler variant 9.6 sold for a record-breaking sale last sold in 2022 for $234 up 6% for an all new high for the first time in comic book history selling for $ 2150 this is basically the Hulk 181 but for Gambit he technically first appeared in X-Men annual 14 he was in 10 instances of dialogue across 15 panels but yet this book has always been championed as the first appearance it's probably due to the cover it's probably due to it's his first appearance chronologically in the X-Men timeline which has convoluted in itself but yeah this is definitely X-Men 97 related from him charging up Wolverine's claws to his great sacrifice and to that teaser in that final episode it's been a month since we chatted about X-Men 266 and since then there's been an increase of 20 copies added to to the census in 9.8 alone across all grades hit the Subscribe button we're probably the only Channel that's actually tracking census changes there's been an increase of 113 slabs added to that cgc census and consider this all right this book at a 9.8 is going for right around what a 94 Marvel Premiere 15 I'm still I'm still talking about Iron Fist gem I'm not done $600 for a 94 first appearance of iron fists there are under 105 98s that exist of that book you can get a first Gambit at a 98 yeah a little bit newer but the book came out in 1990 there is a total of 3,789 9.8 on the census to date and speaking of tracking that cgc census that's where the problem lies with this next book we have Wolverine issue number one coming in at number four and it's not looking good oh it's bad the sales are bad the Census count is atrocious and this book I think has officially hit its height for quite some time and people are officially overpaying and if you're hoping to see an upswing post movie I think you're about to be disappointed and this isn't the only book we have to discuss buckle up it's going to be a bumpy ride there are 2117 more slabs on the cgc census since we talked about this book just two weeks ago there are over 100 slabs in high grade from 9.0 and up including 79 9.8 and that's not even the worst part 10 more 9 9.9 just hit the cgc census the heights of that book reached $23,500 in February of last year the last GPA sale came in at $15,600 and that was January of this year now what do you think is going to happen with 10 more slabs added to the census bringing that total up to 38 and there's another gem Min 10 on the census this is unprecedented we have never seen anything like this take place in such a short amount of time in two weeks we're seeing an average of uptick of five to six new 9.8 of a book one of the hottest books in the world in two weeks every single day and it's not going to slow down cgc isn't going to stop grading this book people are going to keep sending it in I think this book has officially hit its height and members that we have been warning who have been spending $6 to 700 hoping that it's going to start to go up in value especially post the movie are going to be severely disappointed yeah with this drastic amount of slabs added to the census and the fact that there are over 23,000 copies on there already at this point just wait until the movie comes out before you buy this book or use this video to be a Savvy buyer because check this out the 9.4 sold for 205 that's 7% above average the 9.6 is up 2% the 9.8 the height sold for $699 putting it 6% above his 12-month average four copies also outperform that 12- month but check this out the most recent GPA sale is $489 if you're patient and you're Savvy you could still get this this for more of a round where it should sell for people are paying over $700 for this book and I think we are on a trajectory that this is going to be a sub $400 9.8 because wait for the 99 to sell a member had to wait a year for a 99 to surface to purchase it because the last sale happened in February 2023 when it sold it went for under Market by almost $110,000 comparing it to the last High sale of 15 grand and now if someone wants to get a 99 they don't have to wait one year to get that Soul copy when there's 10 new ones that came out in 14 days hot damn yeah bottom line there's no shortage of this book and at this point we're beating a dead horse next on the list of course we've got New Mutants 98 the first appearance of Deadpool I'm not done beating that horse Jem because this book has the same problem that Wolverine 1 has in the last seven days this book has seen an uptick in 9.8 alone of 17 copies the heights this book was reaching was 15 to 1,600 we saw people pay a little bit more even in recent time and we were telling community members to hold back the Census count is outdoing the demand and we're seeing it where people pick this up for lows of like 13 and $1,200 hit them with the prices Jem the new stand 9.4 still for $600 that's an increase of 27% over its 12-month average the direct Market 9.6 is up 19% which three copies out perform the average and then the 99.8 $1,610 is the high sale this week which is an increase of 16% but check this out the most recent GPA sale clocked in at $1,118 that is a $5 to $700 difference and the movie isn't even out yet at best this movie performs very well but is it going to perform so well that it's going to make up for this increase in Census count that's caused a near 40% decline in one week I think not it's another one that you're better off waiting until the movie comes out how much bigger will Deadpool and Wolverine get there's really nowhere else for them to go after this film and I get it they have a new teaser trailer that came out they have a new promo poster which looks like they borrowed from quite a few different covers here I'm thinking about the Scott Williams variant that he put out last year for New York ComicCon this is not good news poor timing this increase in Census count prior to the movie in such a short window for both of the comic we just discussed is not great for the long-term collectible value of the book but if that brings you down maybe this will bring you back up we have Michael Lesley you know him as the script writer from the 2023 Hunger Games movie he's been hired to do the script for the MCU X-Men movie this week we're finally going to get the mutants in the MCU and I hope he's taking notes from X-Men 97 what a beautiful series and speaking of which number two on the list we have Uncanny X-Men 101 the first appearance of Jean great as the Phoenix I have to assume X-Men 97 and the brief Phoenix appearance that we got in the finale is spiking up this book because it's beloved it's a classic cover and between 55 and 98 every single grade has a sale that's above the 12-month average we're not going to report on them all however I will spoil it someone grossly overpaid like bad and I'll give you one guess as to which Auction House you think that took place now from grades 5.5 all the way to 9.8 everything is up double digit percentage points let's just take a look at the 9.2 it sold for $999 an increase of 19% the 9.4 is up 12% the 9.6 is up 133% and then the 9.8 High sale came in at 8100 that's 38% above his 12-month average which is right around $5,900 now that's definitely an anomaly somebody just threw cash at it apparently because the very next sale or actually the last GPA sale we should look at came in at $52.80 $8,100 is absurdly high but you know let's take a look at the book this is where we have to do a little bit more research it's a white pager there is some inflation that that book's going to experience however that next sale for 5280 that je just reported on was also a white pager both happening on Heritage auctions the most recent sale it wasn't a white pager but it was still a 9.8 put it at $ 4560 so $11,000 less for the p agage quality but still a $3,000 near $3,000 difference for essentially the same book just means that you have to do your research not all high sales means that the floor has been raised well you know it has raised the Census count since we've talked about this book just a month ago and how appropriately it increased by 101 copies that includes four new 9.0 six more 9.2 7 more 94s eight more 96s and four more 9.8 when you compare it to the prior books we just reported on hearing that there's only four new 9.8 may not seem drastic but for a book that came out in the' 70s it's extravagant let me prove it to you last year there were only a total of 9 9.8 that sold in 2023 this year and we're in May we're not even halfway through the year yet there's been a total of 10 9.8 we are on a track record of having double the amount of copies sell while the Census count increases there is a correlation between the too we did end up getting Gan gray as the Phoenix in the season finale of X-Men 97 it kind of just came and went out of nowhere we'll see if they continue that narrative for season 2 we may get some type of Cameo from Jean Gray as Phoenix in the Deadpool and Wolverine movie but otherwise I don't really see them continuing this storyline for the liveaction X-Men movies we've just done it to death at this point our weekly giveaways are officially back and the top of the list we have a new stand 94 selling for 423 up 20% the new stand 96 recorded its year high sale set at 625 up 27% and then the 98 sold for $15.99 that's about average but it is up 2% we have a record-breaking news stand 85 last selling in October for $250 that sold for $300 up 20% and then we have a markk jeweler another one for the list shout out Mark Jeweler collectors I love meia Mark Jeweler and that was a 92 that sold back in February for 371 for an allnew high this week of 464 for an increase of 25% and I can't help but think that you also watched that Fandango interview with the director Ryan Reynolds as well as Hugh Jackman and they were straight up being tested Jem yeah she asked them directly to their faces Will Taylor Swift be in the movie will she be playing dazzler and they could have said no but they didn't they avoided the question they deflected they made jokes they complimented her outfit and how it looked like Wolverine suit I'm convinced man we've seen so many announcements made and already characters showing up in trailer that we know we're going to get a reprisal of the role from that knowing there's more surprises up their sleeve means that Gambit's still fair play x23 is fair play so is dazzler and consider this with new Mutant 98 as it pertains to the evidence we just presented possibly hitting its height and is now in Decline with Wolverine number one possibly having hit its height and is now officially in Decline it means that dazzler may be one of the best specs as it pertains to investment at a risk that may make you profit now there are 38 more slabs added to the cgc census since we talked about this book just last week but this is an older book it's from 1980 it's got a black cover it's tougher in high grade and there are only 369 copies on the census giving it a little bit more potential than those other books only two new 96s only two new 98s in the last seven days when you compare that to wolfine and Deadpool
