so the Newgate with episode 4 is continuing on its trend from last week on being way better than I was expecting and doing something and really flexing something that you don't often see with isai now it's not like this is the first show to do it mind you but it's kind of a double whammy of what actually makes this world interesting so the show started off with a video game that they defeated that they were trapped in dude couldn't log out got teleported 500 years into the future of the game the thing is is now the game is real it's not simply just real people trapped in a video game that feels realistic like as they literally expressed with sne in this episode the way she describes it being like almost before the whole time skip happens or at least before they cleared the game it was almost like things were happening it was like watching a movie or you know it was kind of like a hazy thing but once it was cleared she kind of awoke up and now she is no longer an NPC she's actually a real person and the idea that they seemingly knew about the idea players in terms of party that was helping him and they totally knew that once it was all done that they would most likely cease to exist but because he didn't log out and because he was you know transported 500 years in the future the fact that they got to live their own lives is just such an interesting concept that's not seen every day with these types of shows often it is just oh they've always been alive or this or that but it's so interesting the direction they went add in an MC who isn't afraid to say that yes if given them the opportunity I will leave which who knows that that would still make it so they would exist anymore it's just I'm surprised by how decent and solid and the kind of deviations they're taking with a formula that we've seen before yet it's honestly just very entertaining of course I have full live reactions to the new gate over on my patreon if you want to see my full in get thought this lay episode any of these episodes going to be over there if you're interested so we get the reunion it was wholesome it was cute it was sweet but they also kind of surprised me uh our little our little pet can talk now um apparently there was still a little bit of corruption left in the poor boy and our little fox girl now can talk Pikachu can talk got three Tails but don't worry can make it look like one tail so it's not looking like a legendary beast it's just wholesome man it's incredibly wholesome and I like the idea that despite this show visually not being the craziest thing of the Season every other frame I could argue this is the most average looking show or slightly above average because when you look at the skeletons as an example whether they're 2D whether they're 3D they all look really good and that big big boy the big boss of this whole skeleton horde is literally one of the cool skeleton designs I've seen in anime in the past couple of seasons like legitimately these skeletons are way better produced than you would expect in a show that every other frame can look like okay you know at one point Shin jumps up to do an attack it's the most basic animation like they it's below average quality and then they'll do this incredibly well animated sword flash it bounces around is it generic or is it pretty decently produced new but honestly it's a coin toss on what you're going to say the biggest thing is they actually avoid having the most generic 3D mess for a horde of skeletons like I've seen some 3D skeleton hordes but like it's not like it's it's so distracting that you're like oh God just please cut these fools down like I don't know man it it looks pretty solid and way better than you would expect and then other times you're like wait a second this show doesn't look like it's anything impressive but I think it's kind of the show in a nutshell it's like you kind of know what to expect you know it's just going to be a fun watch but then they do sneak in some things that if you've seen enough of the types of shows it's like okay you didn't quite go the direction I thought sh is a character right so it's not like he's the first isekai character to say I want to go home it's not a common thing mind you it's very rare in a lot of ways but I like the idea that well sure in if he was here for another 50 years would he actually go home give him the opportunity probably not because at that point well he's lived a full life in that world but the idea that he's like no I do want to go home the entire purpose of our thing was we the game I was going to log out I can't log out now I have to go round to could things change sure but I can respect the guy for not sacrificing his belief just because his pretty elf waifu NPC turned real might get sad he's like I don't want to make you upset but you know I got to do this and she immediately is like I recognize that but the best part is honestly just the concept of the NPC's turn real because it's not like I've it's not like this is the first time either but it's a big difference with how they're exploring like hey like we kind of understood we we understood that we weren't actually real but it was interesting to see the difference of once everyone logged out before that it's almost like they were just it was going through em motion it was almost like a hazy foggy dream and once everyone logged out because it became a reality at that point because it was no longer following the game it's like everything became clear it's just such an interesting way to explain an NPC turned real and it's so fascinating because the only reason and I don't think need a like a plot like in plot reason for them saying it or something like confirming it I guess is what I'm trying to say like the reason is is he never logged out so therefore they got to continue to exist and didn't cease to exist once our boy left and it's hard to say what would happen if he did log out now because it's not like he can log out right because this is reality so maybe he would need like a teleporting stone or something I don't know so at that point it feels like because it's no longer a game it's now a new reality they would probably be able to continue to exist even if he left it but it's hard to say there's a lot of magic at play but I find that interesting I really do it it just makes for a much more engaging episode as our boy just casually launching hyper beams of Elemental blast left and right and to the point that his sword's so built different that that that dude picked up his sword it's chipped it's and he's still slashing through the Earth our boy's getting exposed very soon as much as he's trying to hide his like legendary Pikachu from the general public his entire Persona is built different Will's literally run running for the hills like Sonic the Hedgehog and see someone coming down he's like okay I'm ready and then it's just him that poor girl passed out like three or four times in this episode as she was leveling up and it was fantastic I don't know the new Gate Episode 1 and 2 was just like good junk food it was fun it's something that you didn't have to watch but if you liked the video game style isai it was a fun watch episode 3 was much better than you were expecting like at least that's how I felt and then seeing what they did with these two's relationship and how it's like him not afraid to say I do want to go home and her explanation of how she became a real person basically or like the difference of how she felt prior to the game being defeated and after it makes it interesting like this isn't the type of show that's going to turn an isekai hater into a fan absolutely not but I think this is the perfect type of show for those of us who either if if you're isekai trash like me you're going to probably enjoy a show like this no matter what but it also can hit that sweet spot of like okay I don't need every isai to be a masterpiece but as long as they're not just a carbon copy copy and paste of what we've seen before I'm willing to give it a shot and even though the production isn't anything usually to write home about I do think they're doing enough with the actual characters that it does make it interesting but I could be mistaken I don't know I'm surprisingly liking this one uh first two episodes pretty fun that's like my opinion of them three and four pretty damn decent if I'm being frank um we'll see where it goes but I got more hopes for this one than I initially thought I was going to but I guess we'll see where they take it let me know what you're feeling though down below especially with the whole idea of the NPCs and the way they explained it cuz I thought that was pretty fascinating myself but thoughts down below leave a like if you enjoyed subscribe if you're new around you're of course ring that Bell so notifi when to upload more and like I mention got those full live reactions over
