[Music] he is god he [Applause] is jesus christ if you're wondering who jesus is today he's the everlasting father he's a prince of peace [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] man praise the lord sagging off the alley amen let's stand this morning and welcome to the house of the lord so glad that you are here this morning in the house of the lord we're here to worship god to praise him to magnify him to enter into a time of worship and praise on the way to the service this morning i was just thinking about what makes a camp meeting or a a special conference or a service like that special what makes it what makes it special is that there's an expectation now this may just be a sunday morning this may be just an every week thing that that some do but i believe that if we'll have the expectations that god is going to do great things he's going to do great things and i believe that if we'll just simply think for one moment hey there is a god that cares about me there's a god that knows where i'm at he knows exactly what i need this morning and i'm going to receive it in jesus name so maybe you showed up this morning and your expectations aren't where they need to be i've come to find out it only takes a moment it only takes a second to change your thinking to say hey i'm here to receive something i need something from god if you're in the house of the lord and you're a guest here today maybe it's the first time that you have been here we ask you to just take your liberty be comfortable don't feel like you're among people that are perfect in any way shape or form we're all here in need of a savior we're all here because we need something greater we're all here because we need the lord's help so if you're here in this house we pray that you will receive whatever you need don't worry about anybody around you don't look around thinking you don't fit in or you're not apart listen let me tell you something the bible said that god is no respecter of persons god loves you god cares about you and you can receive everything that you need from the lord today so if you're in the house today by an upraised hand it's a situation a health situation financial need family situation doesn't matter what it is if you need help lift your hand up to heaven and simply say god this is my need this is my request let's ask the lord to bless let's ask the lord to touch in the service today and meet these needs lord we thank you for your faithfulness your mercy i thank you for each and every individual that's in this house today we pray god that you would touch that you would do a work we thank you lord for your faithfulness mighty god help our expectations to rise up help our faith lord to be invested in you god we believe that you are well able to meet the needs to strengthen to heal to deliver mighty god we thank you for it and praise you mighty god we pray that you'd have your way in this service today let your anointing be in this house we'll thank you and we'll praise you for it giving you the glory the honor and the praise in jesus name and everyone said in jesus name come on let's worship the lord together in the house of the lord won't be a weapon for him cause it's gonna be foreign but it's never gonna prosper hallelujah the weapon may be formed but it won't prosper but when the darkness falls [Music] and my god will never can we let our faith arise today how about we praise god before the answer pray ourselves come on church we know that he can do it we know he's able why don't you claim it today [Music] [Music] and come on when you give the lord a shout of praise in this house come on when you lift your voice when you lift your praise lord [Music] i just wonder if there's anyone in the house [Music] that you can relate to that song that the enemy meant evil in your life anyone in this house would you would you raise your hand with me i guess i need to raise both hands in fact i probably need to lay on the floor put my feet in the air because hells mess with me but i'm so glad i have a god that has the ability to turn it around and what the enemy meant for evil i believe on this sunday morning i said i believe on this sunday morning god's a fixing to change oh come on let's give him a praise in this house right now [Music] [Applause] and i i just want to tell you i'm sitting over there and i'm thinking i just wonder if in the spiritual realm how many have dragged stuff into this building today dragged things in that the enemy meant for evil you just dragged stuff into here and you're thinking man i would to god that i could leave with this load lifted in my life and i'm here to tell you i believe in the name of the lord you can leave that mess that garbage that lie yeah come on i think we knew he deserves the lord deserves some praise oh you're gonna do it in this house today i thank you you're gonna do it in this house today [Music] now before you're seated find someone just say he's going to do it today he's going to do it today and you may be seated he's going to do it today he's going to do it today today is the day today is a day that can go down in infinity that my life was forever changed in the house of god and i believe that's so true we welcome you to the house of the lord and god's in the house and when god's in the house anything can happen and i believe it's going to happen in this house we welcome our guests thank you so much for coming and being with us some that i haven't seen in a while we're glad you're you're here just to let you know if you're a visitor here and you see all this stuff at the front of the right up here you think man what's going on with this church beach balls and beach chairs and all kinds of stuff it's because we've been doing seven sundays of supernatural sundays and we've had some supernatural moves of god and we're gonna have that again today can someone say amen next week is our final one on these super sundays and we're gonna we're gonna deal with the fact that god still performs miracles today we believe that our god can perform miracles as anyone in the house can believe that when you say amen amen amen amen it happened two weeks ago on a sunday morning it happened last week and if you've missed those services i highly invite you to go to our website and look those services up if you've missed any of our wednesday nights there has been some supernatural moves of god and teaching of the word of the lord that you know someone said this to me this afternoon or this morning and again it was one of those days moments when i was prouder the big dog and the deal was is i have a i know a church that's very well known in pentecost and i said someday i want to go to that church and they said well you have to make sure that make sure the pastor's there on that sunday that you go because it's a totally different church when the pastor is not there and i thought man i don't know if i want to go to that church or not somebody said to me a couple said to me pastor you know when you're gone there is something that's powerful that still comes over that podium and i want to thank our staff for that i wanted that was the best compliment you could give me that when pastor's gone god's still doing great things in the house praise god let me just make a couple announcements before we receive our sunday morning building fun ties and offerings and all that you can still give online you can still i believe that box is still out there but i think there's something about when i bring my my offering to the lord and so we're going to be marching here today and please help us with that you know the ushers will direct you and when to win to come but let me just make a couple announcements that i think are vitally important coming up on september 18th it's a saturday there is something that we have done in this church for many many years it was called cheese for christ it was a fundraiser for young people it was not called cheese for christ one man asked me what do you do with all that cheese that you guys take up so that was sort of an old phrase she's for christ and it's now being called move the mission and it helps our missionaries around the world it helps with tupelo children's mansion and other areas of ministry that i believe this church needs to be a part of so they're going to have a golf tournament and it is going to be on the 18th and if you maybe you can't play golf but you can go out there and whack a ball all over the place and uh if you're like well i don't play golf anymore but when i did it was uh it was quite interesting i could have had my own tv show if i would have let them follow me around on the golf course but we had a fun time doing it and this is a golf tournament you don't have to have a team but you can put a team together and it does cost you because you get to play golf and then they feed you a great meal that's on the 18th september 18th and if you gain more information you can see zach there zach in the building you mean you mean i'm making an announcement for a guy that's not even here yeah so i don't know what i missed there neither if you would like to participate in that you can see brother kyle there let's just put it that way he's not boating and he's not golfing he's in the house of god he's he's one of those ball-headed guys that sit up in that room i can't determine which one's who anymore they look alike but just go see one of the ball-headed guys and they can help you out in that area i hope they don't get mad at me for saying that but i can't i look back and i can't figure out if that's travis or kyle up there so so uh that's going to be a fun time a great time and please keep that in mind this church is always for the last i don't know 15 years did a a a ladies retreat here in the fall it's been an incredibly meeting it's kind of a great meeting and it's always in the fall of the year great speakers coming back in this year sister donna linville and sister lois mitchell and great things are going to happen now to help do that we in the past have had a meal or an auction we're not going to do that this year but on the 25th of september we're going to be doing a festival here on the grounds and if you know how to play corn hole and if you know how to play that even if you don't know how to play it is this really simple it's taking these bean bags and trying to throw it in a hole about 20 feet away and we do it on our men's camp out and it is quite interesting it's pretty fun to listen to people's comments uh it's just a fun time and so you will not want to miss that but it's just not that there's all kinds of things for kids there's carnival tables and there's going to be a bunch of i even heard that there's going to be some food there and so i'm going to be there that's for sure and you will not want to miss that that's on september 25th it's going to be a great day and just you know there's something about fellowship fellowship is when all the fellas are in the same ship and it's just fun when you get together with god's people again one of the greatest compliments i ever had from a man is after one of our men after coming back from a men's retreat a new individual in church said you know pastor that's the first time that i remember that going through a weekend and having a great time and not being either high or drunk and i just want to thank you pastor for that weekend and it was not much really spiritually going on except those praying while they're playing that cornhole thing you know but there's just something about getting together with god's people i think it's vitally important that we take a look at who we do fellowship with i'll go so far i think it's important that you need know who you're sitting next to in church sometime wow you know why i say that because sometimes i don't feel like worshiping god if i find myself sitting next to people that don't want to worship god i'm gonna have a harder time worshiping god but if i can set myself next to somebody that knows how to lift up the name of jesus that knows how to give god praise and honor and glory it doesn't matter what the weeks mean we're just gonna give god praise he's telling you it does matter it's a great privilege today to have brother and sister dutton with us they have ministered here many times and uh he's gonna come and she's gonna sing i believe in fact if if she don't sing he can't preach i'll just put it that way and uh she he missed you today in a great way he didn't have you singing this morning in the nine o'clock service and he could have really used your help god's going to do a work in this house you know why because the word of god is going to come forth the word that he's going to be preached is not the words of aaron dutton it's the word of god that's why we read a verse of scripture and then we take that word and we apply it into our everyday life so god's going to speak in this house he's going to touch lives in this house just don't be one of the individuals that walk back through those doors the same way you walk through those doors but determine right now i don't know what that preacher is going to preach to me but i'm going to allow the word of god to speak to me and more than just speak to me i'm going to respond to what i hear here today i highly encourage you men we have a hard time with this sometimes we feel the spirit of god speaking to us and we sit on the word i encourage you to move with the word today and allow the word to speak into our hearts and our lives [Music] in jesus name we're going to pray right now for the for the offering and we're going to pray for the givers and we're going to pray that the anointed word of god will touch our anointed ears lord jesus i love you today and i feel your presence in this house lord i feel the glory of god lord you have shown up to do a divine work you have showed up to do a divine work in this house and god allow it to be done in every last one of us lord we have to respond so lord if you'll speak we'll respond and lord something supernatural is going to happen on this sunday morning lord i thank you that we have the ability to give to you as we bring our offerings lord i pray that you'll bless us according to our obedience in you lord bless your people i pray for a blessing on your people that your name may be lifted high in the wonderful matchless name of jesus and everyone said amen would you stand with us i love your voice you have led me through the fire [Music] in darkest nights you work both like no other [Music] and i have lived in the goodness of god [Music] and all my life you have been [Music] of the goodness of god [Music] your goodness is running after it's running after me your goodness is [Music] your goodness is [Music] [Music] can you say that see all my life you have been so so good with every breath that i see am will see of the goodness of god one more time with hands embraced all my life you have been in faith all my life you have been so so good with every breath that i am made [Music] of the goodness of god [Music] hallelujah thank you god for your goodness and your mercy god for never failing us lord for never leaving us and never forsaking us god we worship you in this place this morning lord somebody lift your voice and thank god for his goodness today come on thank god for his goodness today thank you jesus thank you jesus amen while you're standing you can well you want to stand back up you can grab your bibles if it's comfortable for you to stand genesis chapter 37 genesis chapter 37 and i will do my best to be brief but i want to take a couple moments here and uh in the introduction to this sermon i will mention my friend uh pastor david trammell most of you know brethren sister trammell we are our families are linked for literally generations and uh i was disappointed when he told me earlier this year he was not going to allow his name to be reconsidered for district superintendent but once that became official there was nobody this district could have elected that would lead this district any better than your pastor [Music] amen i love the lehmans they have been very very good to us very good to us and uh i did not know you some of you heard me tell this story i'm not gonna tell it again uh i didn't know sister dutton that you and i spent the night next door he told me this morning on the way here we spent the night next door to the gerald r ford memorial flame amen we saw we saw it on the way to church today there is no gerald ford memorial flame but he had me believing there was one and so we drove by it this morning he said you know what that is dutton i said that's the gerald ford memorial flame and i said ah there it is after all these years it's still burning hallelujah [Music] amen i love your pastor thank you for the hotel room all the hospitality sister candace thayer helped us with some of that thank you you're folks i'm going to tell you brother and sister lehman could not could not have been the district secretary and cannot be the district superintendent without having a world-class top-shelf first-rate staff here at this church [Music] and thank you i i hope i'm an evangelist folks i do this for a living i'm in a different church every week we'll be in south mississippi lord willing next week preaching and i hope you caught what he said because what he said was so true there is no higher compliment you could give him as a pastor or certainly one of the highest than to know that if there's ever a sunday when he has to be gone you all still just have holy ghost church i have known churches literally where the pastor had to miss the first ten minutes of service and we might as well shut down church until he walked in the door because you couldn't have church thank god for a church that's spiritually mature enough to share your pastor and first lady with this district thank god for that god's going to bless them he's going to bless this district and he's going to bless this church amen i feel a word from the lord brother and sister lehman i love you i had a little conversation with brother lehman today on the way to church it just just helped me just help me brother lehman is a man of god a man of god and he's my friend and i'm honored to be here today i feel very strongly a word from the lord this afternoon this morning for this church and i want to try to share it with you the key word for today's message is the word coat everybody say coat and when we see it in the text today and you'll see it multiple times i just want you to say it out loud genesis chapter 37 verse 3 now israel loved joseph more than all his children because he was the son of his old age and he made him a of many colors verse 21 and reuben heard it and he delivered him out of their hands and said let us not kill him and reuben said unto them shed no blood but cast him into the pit that is in the wilderness and lay no hand upon him that he might rid him out of their hands to deliver him to his father again and it came to pass when joseph was come to his brethren that they stripped joseph out of his his of many colors that was on him and they took him and cast him into a pit the pit was empty and there was no water in it verse 29 and reuben returned unto the pit and behold joseph was not in the pit and he rent his clothes and he returned unto his brethren and said the child is not and i whither shall i go and they took joseph's and they killed a kid of the goat and dipped the in the blood and they sent the of many colors and they brought it to their father and said this have we found know now whether it be thy sons or no and he knew it and said it is my sons and evil beasts have to bowered him joseph is without doubt rent in pieces and jacob rent his clothes and put sack like sackcloth on his loins and mourn for his son many days and his sons and his daughters rose up to comfort him but he refused to be comforted for he said i will grow go to my grave unto my son morning thus his father wept for him i know you're standing please just bear with me for a couple moments and i'll let you sit down here in just a minute several years ago i was preaching here in michigan it was february i don't have to tell you about february weather in michigan brutally cold especially for this chubby mississippi fella i when i first started coming to michigan pastor david trammell would schedule me to come to albion i would preach there and then he would graciously get me connected with a few other preachers and i'd stay here for a week or two and preach it was thursday night february 14th actually it was valentine's day night that's how much brother trammell loves me he spent valentine's day night with me preaching hallelujah drove me to kalamazoo area brother greg's step i preached i wore an overcoat to church cold and snowy and windy i wore an overcoat to church took the overcoat off when i got to church preached got a little hot and sweaty i know it's not smart when i went outside i had my jacket on my suit jacket if i remember correctly but my overcoat i just took and threw in the back of brother trammell's vehicle on the way home he and i stopped like wendy's or taco bell or something we went through the drive-through eight on the way home we pulled into his garage he said aaron if you'll take the uh the empty food bag and throw it in the dumpster i'll get your coat out of the back of my vehicle and i'll meet you inside i threw the bag in the dumpster i was almost all the way back inside when he stuck his head out from behind his vehicle apparently there was some stuff in there and he wasn't sure if it was it was more stuff than just my coat and he didn't know if it was mine or his or who it was so he stuck his head out from behind the vehicle and he asked me this question he said hey aaron is it just a coat and i said yeah brother trammell it's just a and i went to my room where i was staying and i wrote that down and i'm here at saginaw valley on this sunday morning to preach to somebody it's just a coat would you lift up both your hands in the air there is no doubt in my mind the holy ghost will minister in this house today would you lift up both hands in the air and let's pray that god would touch us in this house now in jesus name god i love you today and i thank you for your prayer [Music] in this place today would you touch us and help us this morning god i bind the work of the enemy and loose the work of the holy ghost in this house hide me behind the cross let this church see you and not me today i pray in the name of jesus any that need the holy ghost would you feel them any that need healing would you heal them and any that have believed the lies of a coat would you deliver them today in jesus name we love you we honor you and we praise you today in jesus name in jesus name in jesus name amen before you're seated if i i had a breakfast burrito if i could get a little water that would just be epic hallelujah god bless you if you're going to help me preach say amen you may be seated thank you to the kitchen staff i don't know if you all do that every sunday but i told somebody i'm just going to cancel my sunday schedule and come back here to saginaw valley every sunday morning amen the story of joseph is a familiar one to most of us if it's not familiar to you that's quite all right because we're going to talk about it here a little bit today his father jacob had a large family 11 sons and one daughter the bible tells us that jacob loved joseph more than the rest of his children because he was the child of his old age now i am not an expert parent i have one child a two-year-old who is currently enjoying your nursery right now god bless your nursery workers i stand here not as an expert parent but i know enough to know that it's not smart to play favorites with your kids you run the risk of hard feelings you run the risk of dissension you run the risk of of jealousies and that's exactly what happened in the story here the bible says that jacob made for joseph a coat of many colors and that's not like today you just go down to walmart and buy a coat this this was a big deal to give somebody a coat in those days it was all hand sewn it was all hand done it would have been a quite the task to give somebody a coat and it was quite a show and sign of affection and when his brethren verse 4 of genesis 37 says when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than the rest of his brethren they hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him now i am a middle child and i can't see you because of these lights but if you're a middle child holler at me today i got my help now i have two brothers and i love them but we are brothers and growing up brother graham we had our moments where we could just have knocked down dragouts but even at our worst i don't think we truthfully could get in the neighborhood of saying honestly saying i hate you but but joseph's brethren got in the neighborhood the bible says they hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him now i know joseph was a great man of character he was a great man of integrity bible has a lot of great things to say about joseph but i'm here to tell you he could not have been the brightest crayon in the box thank you because joseph either was completely unaware of his brethren's hatred or he just didn't care because they already hated him they already couldn't speak peaceably to him and here's that word that brother lehman was talking about this morning he he started dreaming some dreams and and he decided to share him with his brother and here's that word he said we were out in the field binding sheaves not cheese we were binding sheaves and all your sheaves bowed down and did obeisance to my sheep what a great dream huh and then there were there was uh there were the stars and that that's me and all you brothers and then the sun and the moon that's mom and dad all y'all bowed down and worshipped my star what a great dream and the bible says they hated him yet the more for his dreams and for his words they are his brethren are in dothan one day and jacob sends joseph to look for them genesis 37 19 they spot him coming that coat was a dead giveaway they see him coming in the distance and they say one to another behold the dreamer cometh come now therefore let slay him and cast him into a pit and we'll say an evil beast hath devoured him and we will see what becomes of his dreams it's then that their eldest brother reuben intervenes come on fellas i know he gets on our nerves i know he's dad's favorite i know i i know he's a punk sometimes but we can't kill him he's flesh and blood and so he delivers him out of their hands but apparently and that just blows my mind it blows mine because i i apparently while he's not around they sell him to the ishmaelites while reuben is not around they sell joseph to the ishmaelites and again sister lemon that blows my mind because i have two brothers and we've had our moments but it's never gotten so bad that i've said if the canadians come calling they sold him like a common slave reuben finds out what happened he says what have you done and he realizes they have to cover up what they have done so here's what they do they take joseph's coat and they kill a kid of the goats and they dip the coat in the blood of one of these goats and they bring the coat home to dad now it's important to realize in regard to this story that they only verbally told one lie by the lehman about this coat the only lie that they actually told was they went to jacob and said this have we found and that's not true they didn't just happen to find it they planted it but other than that they never lied about the coat they never said that the blood on the coat was joseph's blood they just brought the coat home to jacob and let his imagination run away with him and boy did his imagination ever run away with him genesis 37 32 they sent the coat of many colors and brought it to their father and said this have we found know now whether it be thy son's coat or no and instantly he knew it and he said it's my now he knows that it's the coat but watch what he says in just a moment of time his imagination just goes out the window it's my son's coat and he will beast have devoured him joseph is without doubt rent in pieces he just looks at the coat and in a moment's time he just knows he's got it all figured out he begins to assume and it's dangerous to assume because he looks at the bloody coat and he thinks he knows exactly what's happened but he was dead wrong how many of you besides me how many of you have ever had a a deal like that where you look at a situation and you think you've got it all figured out and then you get a couple days away from it you're like man i wasn't even close i heard a story some time back ago one of my fav very favorite bible teachers in all the world passed away about a year ago his name was crawford gina louisiana and brother uh was teaching on the imagination and he he tells this story there was a lady come up to him one night he said i walked into the church and this lady came up to me and he said she was probably one of my very best saints faithful dedicated hard-working prayer warrior he just just what you want a saint to be and she walks up to him and says brother i want to know what i've done to offend you and he said i thought about it for a second and he sis you haven't offended me she said no come on i need you to i need you to be honest what have i done he said so i thought about it again and sis you haven't offended me not not even a little bit and he she said i'll come up brother brother you can trust me just tell me i can handle it and he said sis i i don't know what you're getting at i don't know where this is coming from but you have not offended me why don't you where is all this coming from what what happened to cause you to believe that you have offended me and she said i'll tell you do you remember that revival we had some time back ago with brother so and so and he said well yeah i remember it's been a while back but i remember and she said well i walked into church one night church was about to start and she said you and the evangelist were sitting on the platform and she said as church is about to start you're sitting there just chatting and she said as you chatted with the evangelist you looked right back at me and you started laughing and i know for you to laugh at me like that in front of god and everybody on the platform i know i had to have done something to offend you and he said sis listen to me he said that was a long time ago he said i couldn't even begin to tell you what the evangelist and i were talking about he said i've had so many conversations since then i don't even know what we were talking about he said but he said i don't know what we were talking about i don't know what we were laughing about but whatever it was i promise you it was not about you he said i'm sorry that i may have given the impression that i was laughing at you but that wasn't my intention it had nothing to do with you i promise you and she said are you serious he said i'm completely serious and this is what she told him sister lehman she said brother there have been nights i have been unable to sleep all night laid awake at night wondering what i've done to offend you because ladies and gentlemen that's how your imagination will do you understand that reality has borders reality has limitations but your imagination knows no borders it knows no limitation and your imagination can kill you your imagination will run circles around you it was it was at that point in his sermon that brother said this and i i'll be honest with you i didn't believe him when he said it but i've lived long enough to know he was telling the truth he said this imagined trouble can cause you every bit as much heartache as real trouble can and that's exactly what happened to jacob jacob looks at the bloody coat and he takes one look and he's just got it all figured out he looks at the coat and here's what he saw he saw my son is dead but that wasn't true you know what it was it was just a coat he looked at the coat and said an evil beast had devoured my boy but that wasn't true it was just a coat he looks at the coat and says my son has been taken from me but that wasn't true it was just a coat he looks at the coat and says i'm doomed to live without my boy but that's not true it was just a coat he looked at the coat and said i'm destined to go to my grave to my son morning but that wasn't true it was just a coat and somewhere at saginaw valley united there is somebody in this room you have been in the last few days weeks or months maybe even years you have been confronted with a coat i don't know what your bloody coat has been screaming to you today only you know that but some of you have walked in here and your bloody coat's been screaming at you i can never get the holy ghost i could never be forgiven of my sins god could never love somebody like me i could never be healed my sickness will never go away my children can never be forgiven they've done too much and gone too far but i've come to tell you the devil is a liar the coat is lying to somebody in this house it's just a coke it's just a coke that's all it ever has been come on the coach's been telling you been telling some of you my daddy was an alcoholic i'm gonna be an alcoholic my mama had loose morals i'm gonna have loose morals but i'm telling you it's just a coat that's all it is and the moment you see it for what it is is the moment you can be set free somebody say it's just a coat john 8 44 says this concerning the devil your adversary the truth is not in him it's not in the devil to tell the truth the devil couldn't tell you the truth if he wanted to tell you the truth so whatever he's been telling you lately whatever the coach been screaming at you lately spin it 180 degrees and there's the truth if the coach's been telling you that you can never be forgiven for your sins then you absolutely can be forgiven for your sins if the coast's been telling you that you'll never get the holy ghost then you absolutely will get the holy ghost if the coach been telling you that your kids have done too much and gone too far then i'm telling you his arm is not short that it cannot reach and his ear is not heavy that it cannot hear it's just a coat it's just a coat it's just a coat clap your hands to the lord everybody i was preaching this message in central mississippi some time back ago excuse me north mississippi and i made the statement that whatever the coat has been telling you spin it 180 degrees and there's the truth well there was a young lady that came to the altar that day she was related to the pastor i think it was the pastor's granddaughter she was something like 16 17 years old i found out a little later that she had been telling the pastor and his wife for over one year she said the devil's been talking to me telling me i'll never receive the holy ghost but on that tuesday night she saw the coat for what it was it's just a coat at its worst it's just a coat at its most ferocious it's just a coat and on that tuesday night she saw the coat for what it was and within 10 or 20 minutes time she was filled with the baptism of the holy ghost evidence by speaking another tongue because the minute you see the coat for what it is whatever your coat represents to you today the minute you see it for what it is is the moment that you can walk out of here free today i was preaching in louisiana several years back and i guess maybe i preached this message i honestly don't know but for some reason i got to talking to the pastor about this story and he asked me a question that intrigued me i hadn't thought about it he said brother dutton have you ever asked yourself what jacob did with the bloody coat after that initial encounter after he sees the coat for the first time what do you think he did with it i said i don't know i did a little research as far as i can find the lehman in the bible the bible don't tell us what jacob did with the code what do you do with the bloody coat where do you store it where do you put it where do you where do you keep a bloody coat i don't know but i do think after pondering it for some time i think maybe i have a little insight into what happened with jacob and the coat but in order to tell you what what little insight i think i have maybe i have to tell you a story that involves this pretty ugly green coffee cup now this coffee cup is not the original one not the one i'll talk to you about here today the original one is with my dad this morning he didn't know they're on their drive they're on on highway 55 right now i think he's actually watching the live stream hi dad sorry i'm making fun of your cup again he loves this cup he did not know what i was preaching this morning and and if you were here at the nine o'clock i said i said this the original one is probably in their house or he's on highway 55 right now it may very well be with him and and we didn't he didn't know what i preached and i was sitting in pastor's office between services and and he got it he reaches down there it is ladies and gentlemen he's got the coffee cup on him he loves that cup you know why he loves it so much it's actually some of you elders will recognize it maybe it's it's actually a tupperware cup they they come with lids and the only way i bought this one off ebay because i was tired of asking him to mail me that one whenever i would preach this message and uh the only way i bought this when it came to to a set with a equally hideous orange one and i will say this though these things are indestructible you cannot kill one of these cups but he loves that cup it is one of his most treasured possessions you know why because it was his dad's coffee cup it's about 50 years old now it's coffee stained you could pour bleach in it pour vinegar in it let it sit for days pour that stuff out and it would still smell like coffee he loves that cup there's something about when my dad drinks coffee from this cup that he seems to savor it just a little bit more when my dad when my dad drinks coffee from this cup it goes something like this i can't tell you how many times as a teenager growing up i'd get out of bed early in the morning and come in the living room he'd be sitting in the kitchen kitchen table doing his morning devotion reading his bible bible be open there and he'd be drinking coffee from that cup and every single time it seemed that i saw him with that cup for the lemon he'd hold it up just like this and he'd say aaron that's my dad's cup and then he'd say sister thayer he'd say son i wish i had a hundred dollars for every cup of coffee my dad's drink from this cup brother lehman i wish i had a hundred dollars for every time i've heard him say i wish i had a hundred dollars for every cup of coffee he drank from this guy there's something about this cup that when my dad drinks coffee from it he'll drink that coffee and again i can't tell you how many times this conversation has happened aaron you had a good grandpa when my when my grandpa passed away in 1999 he was not a wealthy man didn't leave his family a whole lot in the way of worldly possessions but one thing my dad got was this cup and so every time he drinks from it just about it seems he drinks from that coffee cup and he says oh i miss my dad oh erin you had a good grandpa i wish my dad were here i hope this is okay to tell brother graham told me this morning he was here for the nine o'clock and he said it dawned on me while he was preaching that i got my dad's coffee cup this morning so you understand the sentimentality of it all brother graham there's something about when my dad drinks coffee from that cup it brings back fond memories so here's my point i don't know what happened to the coat i don't know what jacob did with it i don't know where he buried it i don't know what you do with a bloody coat but i tell you what i think sister lehman i think every time he got to missing joseph he would go digging around until he found it and he would bring it out of the closet the problem is this coffee cup for my dad brings back pleasant memories the coat not so much every time he saw the coat every time he got to missing his boy oh miss joseph i love joseph but he pulls the coat out and the coat screams at him every single time he sees it he's not coming back he's not coming back you're doomed to live your life without your boy he's not coming back and somewhere in this room there's a man a woman a young person every time you get to believe in god's going to do something great in your family every time you get to believe in god's going to fill you with the holy ghost every time you get to believing god could love somebody like you and forgive somebody like you or heal your body or work in your family the devil goes excuse me have you forgotten do you need to become reacquainted with the coat and every time you get to believe it god's going to do something big for you and every time you get to believing god's going to make something out of your life the devil comes trotting the coat out and waving it in your face but i've come to rebuke the lie of hell today and tell you that it's just a coat that's all it ever has been and all that ever will be somebody in this house needs to see the coat for what it is at its worst and it's most ferocious it's just a coat it's just a coat it's just a coat and i'll say it again the moment you see this coat for what it is is the moment you can be set free we actually as the musicians come we actually get to see that moment in jacob's life see because you may know that joseph wasn't dead like jacob thought he was he was in fact the second most powerful man in all of egypt there's a famine in the land jacob sends his boys to buy food while they're in egypt joseph reveals himself and he says i'll tell you what i want you to do i want you to go get dad and i want you to bring him back to egypt but i'm not going to send you alone i'm going to send some wagons with you i want you to go tell dad i'm alive and well and i want you i want him to come live i want the whole family to come live with me and sister brother brother graham good lord jesus since i'm picking on you today apparently more than i thought they go back to jacob and they say hey dad we we need to talk but but you might ought to sit down for this there's some pretty big news here you remember joseph don't you you're kind of hard to forget well i know you've been operating under the assumption that he's been dead all this time [Music] but he ain't and he he's not he's alive and well he's the second most powerful man in egypt and he wants you to come back and live in egypt with him and here's the way it reads it's genesis 45 26. he said joseph is yet alive he's the governor and all the land of egypt and jacob's heart fainted for he believed them not you know why i think he didn't believe him [Music] he still got the coat and he wants to believe but he's still got the coat and the coat tells a different story than what his boys are telling him [Music] watch the next verse they told him all the words of joseph and when he saw the wagons which joseph had sent the spirit of jacob their father revived [Music] there was something about i don't know what it was but there was something about them wagons that when he saw the wagons he's like hold on there's more to it than this and so he looks at the coat and he looks at the wagons and he looks at the coat and he looks at the wagons and he looks at the coat and he looks at the wagons and he has an epiphany he realizes i cannot go enjoy all the good things of egypt and still believe the lies of the coat i have to believe one or the other i can't go into everything god has for me and still be bound by the coat it cannot happen i have to believe the voice of the wagons or i have to believe the voice of the coat and so verse 28 begins with three of the most powerful words in all of scripture israel said it is enough he looked at the coats and looked at the coat and he looked at the wagons one last time and brother graham when he looked at that coat for the last time he said that's enough that's enough i'll let you lie to me for the last time i've let you torment me for the last time i believe you're stinking no good lies for the last time i've lived i've lived a life of fear i've lived a life of doubt [Music] i will go see my son before i die somewhere in this room see before we left yesterday to drive over here two-word phrase that kept popping in my mind just rolling in my spirit over and over was held hostage somewhere in this room it's not that you don't love god it's not that you don't want to be forgiven it's not that you don't want to have a future it's not that you don't want to do something great for god [Music] you've just been held hostage [Music] you've been held hostage by a coat and every time you get to believe it let me let me let me share something with you that may help you if you're here and you're dealing with a coat let me let me share something with you that may help you as i close everybody in this room and you can put your evangelist at the head of the line if it makes you feel better everybody in this room at some point in your life is going to have to contend with a bloody coat something that the adversary says no no no no no not you not here not not your family not your kids you have a ministry no no no no no no no no i was preaching this message a couple years ago in south mississippi and the pastor is about 80 years old and he is a man of god and when i got done preaching in the walter service i'm standing way in the back of the sanctuary and he looked right at me i remember the lehman he was reading my mail and i think he knew he was reading my mail but he was just being gentle because he didn't want to embarrass me in front of everybody he said it like this he said brother dutton we all have coats don't we and as soon as he said it i mean for the gram as soon as he said i knew i knew what my coat was we all have a coat that you're going to struggle with that the devil will wave in your face and say not you not here and not now but i'm telling you the coat is lying to you and i'll say it one final time the minute you see this coat for what it is it's just a coat that's it that's all it ever has been and all it ever will be and the minute you see this coat for what it is is the moment you can say like jacob of old it is enough it is enough i'm gonna walk out of here a different man a different woman a different young person a different mom a different dad i will heal my katya behind i will not be held hostage by the lies of a bloody cow [Music] it's just a coat [Music] so stand with me tonight today stand with me [Music] jesus i love you and i thank you for what you've laid on my heart to preach and i thank you for the anointing of the holy ghost we feel in this house today [Music] somewhere in this room there's a whole lot of bloody coats that have been waved and people have believed oh you could never be forgiven you will never receive the holy ghost you'll never be healed you'll never you'll never you'll never but god helps somebody to see the coat for what it is today and let them leave like jacob of old saying it is enough i will walk into my destiny i will be what god called me to be away i will do what god called me to do in jesus name because it's just a coke it's just a coat it's just a coat would you close your eyes and just let your spirit marinate on probably it's just represents of coats [Music] we heard [Music] we heard a a message then we've heard a message from tongues something about we have a heavenly father that loves you he loves you more than you'll ever know he loves you he cares more than you ever know he cares i'd like to sing that song again he moved the mountain and i believe he could do it again if he did it before he can do it for this coat right here and what i'd like to do with the closing moments of this service i'd like you to bring your coat back up and leave it at an altar just leave it on these these these steps these these platforms just just you letting hell know i heard something here today and i'm not gonna leave with that same thing i'm gonna i'm gonna put it down at this altar and i'm gonna leave it at this altar as we go home and when the enemy brings up the code again you let him know where you put it you put it at the altar and i'm not picking it back up again i'm not i left it at an altar and that's where i'm leaving it at the altar maybe you haven't got a coat yet these altars are still open for you to come get a coat but you know what i've seen enough of the greatness of god if he looked at his coat and he looked at those wagons those wagons that could not compare anyway to those wagons and listen god has greater things for you than you've ever imagined i believe in this house today god is settling some issues with people that you said you can't move forward in any kind of spiritual way because of your past you need to leave that mess at the altar here today the enemy has told you you'll never be used by god the way you thought maybe you could you need to leave that mess at the altar today you need to leave this house as i said earlier walking through those doors a free individual knowing that god's gonna make a way out of no way come on would you sing it and you do what if you want to take your coat home you take it home but i [Music] i'll see you too see [Music] thank you lord that we're just not hearing the word today but we're responding to the word today and we're not leaving here with what we drug in here but we're leaving here free from all the myths that hell has missed with us maybe this is not always hell maybe it's been our own imagination lord we've laid at this altar today we're leaving it at this altar today in the mighty name of jesus i pray that you will help your people walk out of this house free free from all the mess of yesterday free from all that and lord we want to walk out of this house liberated walking into the benefit that you have in our life lord the the the the blessings that you have lord the ministry the anointing that you have lord we're gonna leave this house liberated walking in that freedom i thank you for what you've done in our lives i thank you for what you've done in this house today we give you all the glory and we give you all the praise in that wonderful matchless name of jesus we pray and can the house say amen in this house
