back dr mustafa kara ali marches to the beat of his own drum and believes his muslim group should be able to claim religious and charitable immunity from australian law and the courts disagreed but the self-styled islamic leader has no intention of following their orders non-compliance is our right [Music] what they've done to this big they pretty much much wish to do to us for an islamic leader it doesn't get much more insulting than this do you think that you know pig heads on your doorstep people coming and ripping up your signs was worth it like that you should still keep the same stance the council should understand that they are inciting violence religiously motivated violence against us since our last meeting with dr mustapha kara ali he claims he's become the target of vicious religious intolerance and says nobody will help him many would say that you deserve it well they said jesus deserve to be crucified do you want the police to come and protect you the police should be concerned that there are villains and there are hit squads in the hawkesbury region that are waging religious violence against a weak small religious group that wish to be left alone do you think that the police owe it to you to protect you well the police should be secular the police badge is a crusader symbolized badge this is a problem for society the problem is dr mustapha kara ali is adamant his status as a religious charity means he doesn't have to comply with australian law the imam has refused to put in a single development application to build his religious guild diwan adola in western sydney in his absence the harvard university fellow was found guilty and now stands to lose everything he has built in the name of islam the court ordered that by this week dr mustapha kara ali and his brother must remove all structures from the site including the flags and even the front gate but as you can see they've not only ignored that judgment they've continued to develop this religious site and they still have no plans to abide by the law i'm not aware of that really not aware of what the court orders are or if there are court orders to ask us to be loyal to a religious symbol of another religion is horrendous they're asking you to be loyal to the law of the community that you live in the law states that we're a basic religious charity and the law states in religious practice we do not have to comply with australian law the council disagrees with that though they can't it's a fact of life what example do you think this sets for the rest of society then an excellent example of progress and freedom from arabian horses to baptisms in the creek this rock now represents a mosque where men come to pray twice a week people people are worried that something here is that you're up to something no good people are worried that this is not all as it seems people who know us the locals who know us they only call this muhammadin christians because of the fondness they have built with us now facing criminal charges for contempt of court perhaps some slight contrition from dr kara ali but still on his terms we are willing to abide by a secular process of mediation and we're happy to say from here on the way forward any development that we wish to carry out for our religious practice could be discussed you'll give them a heads up that you could be discussed and if they have certain concerns with regard with regard to certain regulations we can meet but the basic premise is that our religious practice does not seek approval from another reason so you'll tell them but you're not going to get approved and we're happy to meet them on their concerns [Music] so what will you do when they turn up here to to take this land back and to perhaps arrest you what what how will you react to that we turn to worship we turn to prayer and we ask god to support us because god is more powerful than any crusader cross-bearing officer who wish to uphold his religious symbols over ours dr cara ali is due back in court on friday hawkesbury council's full statement is on our website you
