iSimangaliso Wetland Park: Southern Ecosystems with Sakhile Dube

my name is saquile dube welcome to eastmangaliso this park it was well known as a greater saint lucia wetland park in 2007 it went for the name issy mangalisso a zulu wade which means the land of rwanda or the wonderful site [Music] we've got about 220 kilometers in our coastline [Music] eight interlinked ecosystems that's what makes this area unique from any other areas in the world [Music] on the southern section of the park there is five ecosystem which is easier to view [Music] on our east from the indian ocean that's the first one we call it a marine ecosystem is categorized by warm sea water from june until november it's when along the coastline we found about six and a half thousand pumped wells as they hit south run about november it's when along the coastline or along the beaches we've got about two species of turtle they come and lay the eggs as we move from indian ocean side we get to the second ecosystem we call it eastern shores [Music] it's characterized by the dunes that we have along the coastline and the grassland area our immune system when you look at them in a distance they look more like a mountains but it's not a mountain it's only the same they've been strapped nicely by the trees growing on top of them [Music] we've got the highest one that found in africa we call it maperones and jewels in the middle of our reserve that's our third ecosystem we call it a lake san lucia the lake is a homophiles and crocodile as we found about a projection 1200 hippos [Music] on top of the food chain we've got about 2 000 crocodiles [Music] because alexa lucia on the western side of her leg there's a ford ecosystem we call it western shores it's more like savannah land area the good example of follows the game reserve in our last ecosystem we call it the swamp forest [Music] swamp are the place where we find a lot of mangroves red grass in niamh or induli grasp they act as a filter in the lake during the times called high rain all the wood and cells have been transported they get to be filtered into the swamps there's only water cattle on down to the lakes that you see [Music] thank you [Music]
