[Music] three years em'ly hyped the game-changing adventure motorcycle for three years [Music] impossibly it looks just as dangerous as the concept but 204 kilos is not the class shattering 150 we hoped for in fact it's barely lighter than the new tiger 900 240 millimeter clearance actually less than a Honda African twin and the price is 12 3 9 9 though if you want to ride dirt and you do add cash for crash bars that'll put you within a grand of KTM 790 with it's already crash capable fuel pods see Emma's marketing team admitted their error when you send the high pair on a three-year run that inevitably gets overtaken by The Tortoise of scepticism me be a bigger adventure bike will do maybe I can find a redeeming style feature in this designers diarrhea cuz if there's a clean end to grab I could pick up that turd a year earlier as the t7 really so special we've already seen on the MTO seven and xsr 700 Yemma has 689 si si nos plain twin that 270-degree crank mimics the bark and bite of a v-twin with the toy poodle size of parallel I won't be coy this is my favorite motor you can buy today 72 horses not too fast but fun it's like Goldilocks doing a striptease also happens to be the most reliable engine on the market according to objective German statistics reinforced with a rigorous third party inspection which is about as sexy as it gets in Germany so sure the motor is worth the weight makes any pavement job of joy but what's really special here is the countershaft do you notice anything unusual how high this is see adventure bikes have an inherent problem they need long suspension like a dirt bike but they're heavy like towards so as you throttle weight sinks on to your rear wheel and front steering vanishes that compression is called squat but Yamaha can do something about it remember how their abnormally high countershaft sharpens the swingarm angle and that lets the driving force work more efficiently around this axis to extend the spring anti-squat the rear tire physically pushes the front into the dirt so even when I'm laying down street bike power it turns like a dirt bike Yamaha is smarter yet when adapting their CP to engine the t7 naturally required lower gearing for trails so instead of swapping the transmission they built an enormous rear sprocket widening this angle between the chain tension and the swingarm producing even more anti-squat it's exceptionally even footed at speed to say the t7 rides more level than adventure bikes is an injustice let me say that it once wrote it to car race bike and it reminds me of that [Music] [Applause] [Music] I'll try things on the t7 I otherwise wouldn't dare save perhaps the KTM 790 7/10 kale is such a door opener that the larger der biest bikes now seem useless [Music] such extreme performance is bound to have side effects for one the wider swing creates wider variance in chain tension slacking around town the drivetrain whiplash is severe also I suspect Yamaha of their strong anti SWAT force as an excuse to use weak Springs not a terrible idea is the ride is plusher than most so long as your tires never leave the ground but when they do anti-squat gave Yamaha one more opportunity because the t7 uses its own power to plant the front we can get away with a static weight distribution that favors the rear unbelievably beneficial and slow terrain where squat forces are negligible you want to wait the drive wheel and float the front it makes technical riding effortless that's why Yama has spent most of their three years on the frame they needed it just so they needed a stressed engine allowing for lighter non-structural forward rails they need to make the most of their chance to use a 48 52 bias even on a full tank the perfect distribution for technical adventure riding and something I once had to buy a rear tanked motorcycle to achieve I've been fortunate to ride nearly every adventure bike from the last decade a few were better than my own but none special enough to justify switching now though if you want to buy used GS let me know [Music]
