Is Meteor Crater Worth Visiting? Things to Do Winslow, Arizona

there's a sign meteor crater we're gonna go check out this meteor crater Behringer Space Museum and the cool thing is you can buy your tickets online they have a man in a spacesuit yeah and a little alien you can take pictures with the spaceman right over here this is just 30 minutes from Winslow Arizona and our Campground humblebee State Park just up Interstate 40 exit 233 there is the Apollo 11 space capsule there in fact NASA used this meteor crater for training because it is one place that kind of they can simulate the moon now space X trains there and you can actually visit while the trainings are going on you can actually touch a part of the meteor right there oh it's like metal there you can watch the movie there's a 4D movie that you can go through it's a little action ride it's cute you can visit the Discovery Center and the space museum and of course the gift and the minerals shop they are open eight to five but check because you know that might times might change throughout the year no pets but they do have a pet Ramada that I think it costs fifteen dollars a pet to stay there we did not take our pets though there's an RV park nearby meteor crater RV park with electric water and their pull throughs four tent sides there are two dry camping sites and full hookups are coming after the new septic is finished but they do have a dump station the price is from thirty dollars for dry intent camping fifty dollars for 30 amp and 55 for 50 amp at this time now meteor crater was created over 50 000 years ago when a giant iron nickel meteor impacted the Earth in fact you can touch a piece of that meteorite right there in the museum it was 150 feet wide weighed several hundred thousand tons and it had a force 150 times greater than an atomic bomb it's really hard to imagine the scope of this impact impact of this meteor created a giant bowl shaped crater called meteor crater it's 550 feet deep now and it's about one mile wide but it has filled in over the years so it was once deeper than that you can view it from inside the museum or you can step outside and they have an observation deck you can walk around and they're viewing telescopes there or you can take a guided room tour and or we did both the guided room tour lasts about 40 minutes make sure you sign up for it and you get to walk on the edge of this amazing crater and you can buy your tickets online and save a little money so the cost to go to meteor crater is for active duty U.S military it is free so no cost for active duty U.S military for non-active veterans it is 16 dollars for ages 6 to 12. it is 16 but 14 online for senior 60 and up it is twenty three dollars at the door twenty one dollars online and for all others 13 through 59 it is twenty five dollars at the door twenty three dollars online so those are the prices at this time here in 2023 but do the check and make sure you're you know the dates and times and prices may change over time [Music] [Music] so meteor crater is worth the visit it was not far at all from our campsite in homologi state park and and then you can also check out Winslow Arizona it's a cute little town you could go stand on the corner another place we went while I was staying there was petrified forest in the Painted Desert and you can check that video out right here here one of these places but check that video out and we shared our day trip there and you can take dogs there so have you ever been to meteor crater have you ever seen anything like that before if you have drop a comment below and let us know your experience and if you're in the area in Arizona Winslow area check it out this is Sharon rough road RV life we like looking at Freedom hope to see you on the road sometime safe travels
