hey everyone so there's been a lot of discourse in my comment section as to whether asharian is upset if you ask him to be in an open relationship so I wanted to delve into his character a bit more while I personally am monogamous I will attempt to stay as objective as possible so to understand both sides of the argument we need to explore his character a little bit a siren is a character who is presented to us as someone who is comfortable with his sexuality at the tafeling party when the group finally has time to relax he jumps at the opportunity to seduce tab shop see what I mean is a little fun is that so much to us by the hells X my dear a night of passion and it's not actually until we get to know his character that we learn this is far from the truth he is not comfortable with his sexuality like we allowed to believe and it was all a mask to protect himself okay I had a plan a nice Simple Plan seduce you sleep with you manipulate your feelings so you never turn on me it was easy instinctive [Music] so this begs the question what is his relationship with sex we do know that for almost 200 years he was a slave to Cazador and a large part of his servitude involved luring his master's victims with his body I spent 200 years using my body to learn pretty things back for my master what I wanted how I felt about what I was doing it never mattered you could have asked me to do the same based on this fact it's not a stretch to see why sex could be meaningless to him and he's primarily as a means to gain power for himself or others initially in historian and tab's relationship he had no problem using his body for his own gain and it's not until he started to develop feelings for Tav that he refuses to sleep with them because sex had no emotional component for so long it could have felt wrong to engage in sexual activity with them he could have seen it as him manipulating all you had to do was full for it anyway I'm going home now I feel physically mentally emotionally unwell but that means that I might have had a good time so what does this have to do with Tav and historian's poly relationship to explore this topic we need to actually understand what polyamory is it's characterized by an individual engaging in multiple romantic and or sexual relationships with the consent of the people involved I can't personally speak from a poly perspective but I did read about it and listen to your comments as sharian did give consent that have to sleep with halsin while in a relationship with him mentioning it was a harmless Affair thus I'm sure harmless Affair I'm happy for you to have as much given that sex has not held as much importance in the emotional aspect of a relationship due to his trauma opening up the relationship to Hell soon could be okay with him this is evident with mizora as well when he explains it's okay for them to have fun on the side further on when Tav kisses helson he mentions that he enjoys watching it suggestion he does not mind at all but have I mean I'm just enjoying the show well initially it could be interpreted as if historian is upset with the idea especially in the cut scene where Tav asks for his consent it could also demonstrate that he softens to it as time goes on additionally his initial response might have been as a result of him feeling threatened by romantic feelings towards helson when Tav sleeps with mizora he explains that of course it meant nothing she's the devil she's hardly going to fall in love I just want to add that I did try and get the cutscene but the game hates me for some reason so it's possible that as time passes a Starion doesn't feel threatened by halsin once he realizes Tav won't leave him thus that could explain the anxiety that a lot of people have interpreted in his voice in the cut scene that she asked for consent from a different point of view one could interpret historian's reactions as being hurt I was wondering when you're going to ask me about this and this does play into his narrative for almost two centuries he was enslaved and most likely emotionally isolated when asari meets Tav and starts to develop a bond with them he becomes genuinely surprised that Tav cares for him if the player chooses to hug him in this scene right here it initially shows that he's unsure of what to do and how to react and finally he hugs her back this is symbolic of him finally accepting someone into his life emotionally when he does assarian holds back from pursuing to have sexually until he can sort out his own emotions it is also possible that he doesn't want to feel as if he's manipulating them like before additionally it could also be a means of him knowing whether does care about him enough to respect his wishes and to not use him sexually so would this make him monogamous it's clear that Australian values the emotional relationship he has without it's also possible that the notion of seeking out other company in bed while he is actively restrained in himself could be hurtful to him which makes sense especially if he's trying to figure out where tub's priorities lie in a relationship compared to his and when people find out they have differing values it can initially come as a shock when Tav does approach him to ask about Helsing he asks it's not because you know we haven't in a while suggesting that this is an insecurity for him because he knows that in some relationships it's an essential thing to have can then respond by saying what we have is Wally different and very special to me historian then says I know I was being foolish but thank you for saying it there's a shift in his China voice which could suggest that he's attempting to downplay his hurt in this situation their hesitation in his words can also support this idea furthermore it is evident at the start of the conversation where he laughs almost as if he's trying to hide his anxiety and the hurt he is feeling it does make sense for a starring to react this way because he correlates a lack of sex equating to a more meaningful relationship which could make him question whether Tav sees the relationship in the same light as he does even so if he is supportive of Tav having a relationship with someone else it begs the question is he willing to do the same so as siren's opinion really could shift after the events of the game we don't know what happens it's clear that a star intends to attach to one person which is most likely due to the trauma he's faced additionally there's the same with the drow twins in which he completely dissociates from the situation Starion lavish's attentions on everyone present with flawless technique unfazed It's All Pure Instinct but when you meet his eye for a moment there's a look about him that reveals he's a million Realms away this is how the event plays out regardless of whether he's in a relationship with Tav or not so it's quite possible that historian is more okay with Tav having a sexual relationship with others then he himself is by the end of the game and this idea makes a lot of sense considering the troll makers faced so as the game has a variety of endings that are dependent on the player whether a Starion is okay with a polyamorous relationship is entirely dependent on the player if you choose the option he appears to soften to the idea of it and at
