Iris Midgar the Broken Princess & How She Became the Most Hated Character | Iris Character Explained

since I previously talked about Alexa mcgar it's only fair to give a sister Iris Medgar a chance as well probably the current most hated character in the series that's why in this video I wanted to go over her character and hopefully provide some explanation on the reasons that she became so hated and whether or not she deserves to hate also I'll be covering some of her powers and abilities as well to get a better gauge and how powerful she actually is now as usual there will be spoilers for The Light novel so here's the spoiler warning just in case and if you enjoyed the video don't forget to throne and is currently the leader of the Crimson night order when she was younger she possessed great talent for swordsmanship so she has given the best Education and Training possible to nurture her skills she was able to eventually fight and defeat adult opponents with ease quickly earning a reputation among the night order and after she enrolled at the midgaro spousal Academy she became known as the strongest student but through a claim to fame was after defeating vikon Oba during the bushin festival her Victory also helped to popularize the Royal bushing style making it the second most popular style to learn however she doesn't come without faults because pouring so much time and effort into the swordsmanship made her neglect to train her other skills like for example even though she is a princess she had terrible people skills and she doesn't really understand the intricacies of social interactions essentially she can be classified as the typical dumb and stubborn muscle head but luckily at least she wasn't on the level of Delta now that wasn't all she also likes the political and Leadership skills needed to become a good leader as evident in the way she manages the Crimson night order because she rather focus on areas that she has more skilled at and let others handle the politics that's why between the mid grass sisters Alexa is by far better than Iris both mentally and emotionally speaking of Alexia Iris used to have a good relationship with her sister when they're younger But as time went on her reputation would cause a rift between them especially after Iris defeated Alexia during the bushin festival and even though Iris did try to come first sister and care about her a lot he would not talk to each other for many years or at least until the events of Alexa's kidnapping which I'll talk more about in a bit but continuing on Iris eventually graduated from the MinGa Academy and she joined the night order shortly after so that she can fulfill her duties for the people and this brings me to my next point because of her reputation she developed a high sense of pride and arrogance but she also became more aware of how people perceived her this caused her to constantly feel pressure into succeeding and she became fearful about failing so she always tries far too hard to prove herself sometimes at the cost of others and not knowing the consequences that's why when she has constantly please stop by superiors from doing anything meaningful and was often labeled as nothing but a symbol to the public it really damaged the pride and left her a real sense of helplessness and honestly it only gets worse for Iris as the series progresses seeing a pride being constantly challenged and her slow descent into madness the first instance was when Alexia was kidnapped by the counter Diablos Iris will deploy the night orders to search for sister and if it wasn't for Shadow Garden she would have never found Alexia so during Shadow Gardens attack around the midgar kingdom the night order was deployed to contain the damages while Iris headed towards the epicenter of the chaos sensing that it was related to Alexa's kidnapping on her way over she encountered the mutated version of milia the daughter of vikan OBA but despite her countless attacks the monster simply regenerated all the damages and never want to give up Iris planned on continuing her barrage of attacks when Alpha arrives to stop the rampaging Melia and this was the first true instance where Iris took a major hit to a pride after Alpha caught her a spectator which greatly angered and frustrated the princess either Iris decided to ignore the mysterious woman for now and continue to epicenter where she was able to find Alexa that after witnessing a pillar of magic that destroyed the surroundings also I want to mention that when Shadow was fighting Xenon Griffey Alexa did state that if Ira Spotify Zenon should easily lose meaning Iris might not even be capable of fighting on par with the upper members of the couch in any case after rescuing Alexia both sisters were able to reconcile and they'll work together to uncover the true about Shadow Garden and the cult and with help from the night order they were able to uncover various documents and items belonging to the couch but all the evidence was mysteriously destroyed likely a cover-up by the couch so with this incident and Xenon being a member of the crowd Iris realized the night order has been compromised so she decided to create the Crimson order a new special Brigade consisting of only people she trust that will investigate Shadow Garden and account however she wasn't able to acquire the funding from the government and the Manpower needed from the night order again due to interference from the couch so Iris was forced to fund the Crimson order with her own money now currently as a Volume 5 it's unknown how many members there are but the first iteration did consist of eight members and device Commander was Glenn but he was killed by Rex during the terrorist attack on the MinGa Academy he was later replaced by Hub the new Vice commander who is actually a member from the cloud Center Infiltrate The Crimson order and manipulate the princess anyways Iris and the Crimson order later visited the midgar academy to seek help from Sherry Barnett because they needed her to decipher an artifact belonging to the couch hoping you'll review clues about Shadow Garden and the cloud itself after the meeting Alexa wanted to help investigate the rumors about random civilians being attacked by assailants claiming to be from Shadow Garden but despite being quite protective of her sister Iris was forced to concede because the Crimson order still lacks the Manpower however when Iris found Alexa unconscious and injured in an Alleyway after she apparently fought the assailants she replaced Alexa under house arrest fearing for safety now the cut eventually attacked the school so the night order was dispatched to handle the issue but because of the anti-magic barrier and the gunman they are unable to enter without suffering heavy casualties however Iris still insisted on entering by a superiors Foster to stand down because even though she was talented in combat she are still useless without magic so they had to wait for the barrier to somehow be disabled first this was a harsh reality that she had to accept and the feelings of helplessness came over her once again adding another card to a already wounded Pride when the battery was taken down Iris had learned that Shadow Garden was the culprit and blamed them for killing Glenn so one two posters were released to the public to apprehend Shadow and his organization but moving on because Iris failed to produce any positive results in regards to Alexa's kidnapping and the terrorist attack the Knight ordered the public and even her father the king had or lost their respect for her so for someone who cares deeply about how she is perceived this caused a heavy mental strain on Iris and she became obsessed in trying to prove herself regardless of the method and her biggest breaking point was definitely during the bushin festival as she planned on entering despite warnings from Alexia about the potential of Shadow Garden and the cow interfering I wish was extremely overconfident about her own abilities and simply dismissed Alexa because in her current mental state she only cares about winning in order to restore her honor and the image of the royal bushing style as well as to regain support from the masses once again that that said when a bushing Festival started she easily won her matches and she later observed the battle between Anna Rose and mundane men because the winner of the match will be her next opponent and when he won the battle against Anna Rose Iris was somewhat surprised but because she had predicted the outcome prior to the battle she was still confident about winning against him now before a match Iris was able to become acquainted with the goddess of all Beatrix and had even invited her to watch the battle in the VIP area so when it was time for battle Iris entered the arena and was ready to attack mundane but a fighting Instinct warned her of the danger awaiting her she became Frozen in fear and was even experiencing gruesome hallucinations it was then Iris realized that mundane was possibly the strongest fighter in the world however she was too stubborn and prideful to accept defeat so she gathered all her courage to attack but with her single strike Iris was defeated by him when mundine revealed himself to be Shadow the humiliation that he gave her foster to the breaking point and filled with rage Iris joint Beatrix to fight against Shadow even going so far as to discard her Warrior spirit and rely on an artifactive booster overall strength now during the fight the anime actually did an amazing job in portraying her internal struggles like a state of mind and the extent to which she was willing to go to defeat Shadow you can really feel the raw emotions from her reaction in the anime as well especially the ending of the fight which perfectly showcases the hopelessness and fertility that Iris was expressing at the moment but having said that after the fight it was the accumulated failures that Iris experienced throughout the series that caused her to completely lose herself to hatred and she became Aura irrational and unhinged her mental state became so bad that she was solely focused on acquiring power to any means necessary so that she can one day kill Shadow we even get a better look at the severity of her Obsession during a brief appearance in Volume 5 of the light novel she has no much more stubborn and narrow-minded and she doesn't listen to anyone by herself even when Alexia tried to show her real evidence about the couch Iris just dismisses them choosing to believe Vice Commander have rather than her own sister simply because his information aligns with her own beliefs that Shadow Garden is the True Villain and when Alexia tried to refute the claim that Shadow Garden was the one that created the couch Iris even threatened to harm Alexia for spotting nonsense and wanted to not interfere with a Revenge so yeah Iris became so delusional and hateful that she no longer cares about the sister that she once vowed to protect and is now just another puppet working for the count of Diablos Iris tried so hard to improve her relationship with Alexia only to throw it all away for vengeance well at least we got some wholesome sibling bonding moments before Iris became such a bad sister and I still think the scene of them shopping at mits Goshi was the best moment together regardless I personally don't really like her personality as a character but I do understand the motivations behind her actions and Iris was just trying to protect her people and Country from Outsiders that want to disrupt the peace but the way she approaches the issue was just terrible also I did not really find a drastic change in character being that surprising because she has always been very stubborn and arrogant I mean she had a shouted upbringing and was always praised by people so being humiliated by Shadow and experiencing continuous failures without having the time of people to process the trauma it would definitely affect your mental state to a certain extent it's especially true for someone like Iris who lacks the emotional intelligence needed to handle this type of issue use of course the argument can also be made that she simply did this to herself and her hubris was her worst enemy again this just goes back to a stubborn nature refusing to accept facts or listen to others and learn from her mistakes because she likely didn't have anyone to point them out in any case with the way her character is developing I can totally see her becoming one of the villains in the series and she'll either redeem herself or she'll be imprisoned or be killed by her own sister or even shadow in the future and weirdly enough a character some reminds me of Azula from Avatar The Last Airbender but what are your thoughts on Iris as a character and if she isn't a contender for basketball I'm pretty sure she can at least be best villain be sure to comment your answers down below now before I end the video I just want to talk about some of our skills and abilities so for starters Iris like I said had tremendous talent for salesmanship if we compare with the average fighter but against Beatrix or people from Shadow Garden and even the counter Diablos her skills are subpart although a physical capabilities were quite decent as she was able to keep up with the speed and pace of Beatrix during their fight against Shadow as for magic proficiency being a princess and lightly a descendant of the three Heroes that defeated the demon Diablos she has a large amount of magic and is quite skilled at controlling himana to increase her offensive and defensive capabilities however her overall utilization of magic was considered to be primitive and very chaotic much like a hot tempered personality also in a fight against mundane man it seems that whenever her emotions go crazy she is able to unleash a large burst of magical power to increase her own strength while also removing any negative magical effects that are currently on her but aside from those she doesn't possess anything else notable to talk about and hopefully in the upcoming volumes we'll get to see more of Iris Medgar and maybe she has already acquired some new abilities [Music] oh anyways that's pretty much everything we know about Princess Iris Miga so far and hopefully I managed to give you a
