[Music] [Music] hi everyone my name is Stephanie and welcome back to our goal from scratch series in this video we're going to continue the rules of a go during the game so in go games there's no restriction on where you want to play your stones however there is only one place we can never play so that area where that place is against the rules so now I'm going to show you where it is that spot since we're already talked about a capture and territory the object of this game is it to surround the territory and capture your opponent's stones whoever gets the most deterrent or wins so once a group of stones or a stone has no liberty on the board that's toward that group of stones will be captured so now I have a two examples on the bottom the two questions over here so now it's blacks turn if black wants to play the stone right here and here is that okay probably you already have the answer in your mind all right some people will say yes and some people will say no all right so let's look at the question on the right side in black places the stones right here all of the liberties are already blocked so once a stone or a group of stones is to surround it completely with no Liberty left this intersection point is called legal point so that means that's a self capture as soon as I put the stones right here itself captured automatically so this is called a legal point and we can never play into an illegal point so that's also a legal point because these two stones are connected and that's a group now all of the liberties are already blocked on the outside so if black goes here that's a self capture move so we can never play theirs all right so now I have another two questions on the top so since I already know this is illegal point because this stone doesn't have any Liberty left and this is also a legal point because the two stones do not have any Liberty left what if I have some stones on the right side where on the outside is black able to play here or that's a still illegal point all right so let's go back to the capture move again once your block the last Liberty you capture that stone or you capture that group now let's look at this white stone right here how many Liberty does this White's don't have left one so once you play here that's a capture move so if if that's the situation between capture move and an illegal point capture always goes first so after black captures this white stone black begins one more Liberty on the right side so is that a capture move or illegal point the answer is that's the last the Liberty of this entire White's group so that's a capture move capture always goes first alright so now let's look at the next example the next rule that I don't want to introduce to you guys is a code of code actually give it another name an analyst capture it is easier to remember so what is the analyst capture by hearing the name you won't end and now I'm going to show you an example since we just learned up the difference between an illegal point and a capture move is that a capture move for white capture always goes first so this blacks don't only have one Liberty left and if white goes here when it blocks the last delivery of this black stone so yes it is a capture move and then after white captures here and white only has one Liberty left and black will play here to capture weight and then white would capture black and black were captured this white stone back and then we can never end the situation so how can we solve this situation if that happens in your game so this entire situation is called coal so a co happens when black and white can capture once don't repeat Li from each other so let's say now it's a whites turn and a way captured this black stone so now black cannot capture this stone back instead we have to play a KO threat so what is a KO threat so basically KO threat is a forcing move that your opponent needs to respond okay so if black goes here since black is attacking this white stone and that's don't only has one Liberty latch so what has to connect so after that exchange moves are played on the board and then black can capture this star back so when Co happens neither player is allowed to capture to stone back immediately instead we have to play a KO throughout the form we're taking the KO back all right same rules apply for wait so since black just captured this KO back and white has to find a KO threat is that a KO threat does a black need to respond this Atari move yes otherwise this stone will be captured so black has to connect and then white is able to capture this Kovach so in order to end the KO let's say if that happens on the board and then black played this KO threat and what it now has two options either respond the KO and continue fighting the KO or what can connect here and end the KO so that's the judgment or decision then you have to make whether responding the KO threat is bigger on the board or ending the KO is a bigger all right so now let's look at a next example the next will offer capture that I want to introduce to you guys is called a recapture so here is the question so the two black stones only have a one Liberty left and then if white place here what is blocking the last delivery of these two stones so that will be a capture move my question would be since we talked about Co situation earlier neither player is allowed to capture the KO back immediate please instead if we have to play a KO threat before we're taking the Kovak so the question will be is block able to or is a block allowed to capture this white stone immediately back or black needs to play a KO threat the answer is yes black is allowed to capture this stone back immediately without playing a KO threat the reason why in ko situation is we need to play a KO threat as it has another name endless capture you won't end so we have to have a rule for playing the ko otherwise we'll just keep on going like going wherever so in ko situation once white captures the two stones and black captures its white stone back and it ends here so you don't need to play a KO threat in recapture situation all right today we're really talking about illegal point and a different types of the capture loose so if you liked the video don't forget to give me a like and if you have any questions you can always leave the comments below go
