Internal Screw Cutting . Blind Hole

[Music] i came in the workshop this afternoon purely and certainly to tidy up and i got my eye on that bastard thing again and i thought right john let's have this thread cut once and for all so what i've done is i've made a thread cutting tool well i've used an insert and i've just ground down a piece of key steel put a little screw on the end and holds that insert in place what i've had to do because this is an external insert is i've had to put a relief on the back of the insert there you can see that or not just so there's clearance on the base of the tool this is going to go in and cut on the back of the air like out with the layers going in that direction i've set it up instead of google cutting the thread that is the actual thread 40 tpi by 1.5 that's an a or 32 column block and that's the thread on there so at least i can try it in to make sure i've got it right at the minute the hole is 38.5 and the depth of the thread is 0.75 per say which gives it i'll set this up and then so i can get the thread cut once and for all now the spindle in the lead screw are running the same direction and that's pulling out right we'll set it up into a trail cut into full depth and i'm going to take this first cut i'm going to go right down to 175 before we start and then do it probably they have zero there so it's just touching one two three four five six 6.75 that's the full depth of frame bring it back i'm going to put on 0.25 percent and which one you indicated to come around to a whole number right that's the first pass that is definitely laid on thread [Music] do a couple of spring passes on the same setting more and more and we'll try it but the quickest threat in the world would certainly have got a fed in there right there will be peel it and get it spot on i'm going to take a thin cut off the top of the threads put the two of the zero for the boat to push it into forward slightly like zero there he is now one fast reverse let's just take the whisper off the top of the threads not much where he's putting [Applause] it's just about there [Applause] [Music] so [Music] right eventually while they're a little bit slack if anything but it's certainly [Music] screwed in a little sleep now pass that thing i'll machine the rest of that tomorrow but for a minute i've had enough [Music] oh you bastard missed it ah john great i thought i put the thread up there i think i did [Music] this job just doesn't work clear
