INTERIOR DESIGN // Best Way To Hang Curtains & No Sew Hem IKEA Curtains

hello and welcome back I'm Hana Rezac and if you're new to my channel I do all things home including Curtin tips hacks in this video I'll be showing you how to shorten your curtains without sewing and also how to hang them to make a beautiful impact the question of this video is what color and type of currents do you currently have in your home my first tip for you all is when hanging new curtains hang them high and wide hanging your curtains one to two inches below the ceiling lead to the eyes to travel and gifts the room and grand feeling hanging your curtains right above the window does not give your windows or curtains the justice they deserve once you hang high you won't want to go back hanging wide allows you to let in as much light as possible into the broom maximizing the beauty and function of this window treatment tip number two is to buy enough panels the last thing you want to do is get home with your brand new curtains and you don't have enough to actually cover the window or when you put them together it's really stretched out you want to have the ruffles as a flow in your curtains additionally having more panels can help with privacy especially if your curtains tend to be on the sheer side tip number three is allowing your curtains to dust the floor it's not more allowing your curtains to slightly sweep the floor evokes elegance and utilizes them to their full potential the goal is to keep the eyes moving also known as flow and if your curtains stop short before the floor that eye movement kind of stops and that flow ends which leads me to tip number 4 by long and hem later measure your ceiling height to see how many inches you actually have to cover we have 8-foot ceilings so we bought 96 inch curtains which were way too long at first but that enabled us to hem them and create the link that we desired in the stores you will most likely find a lot of 84 inch curtains it tends to be the standard length but don't be distracted by their hot commodity you'll make a much larger statement with flowy curtains and lastly tip number 5 or 1/2 really is you can shorten your curtains without sewing for this you will need fabric tape which is basically a double-sided tape that is specifically meant for fabric you can put it in the washer and it still stays some other materials you're going to need for this is an ironing board and iron and also some pins or something to hold your measurement in place before starting this process you will want to wash and dry your curtains to reveal their true length I did that before starting this project and with my curtains which are the vivan white curtains from Ikea they do have a 4 percent maximum shrinkage and it was true because after I took them out of the dryer they did shrink just a little bit after you take your curtains out of the dryer you will also want to either use a steamer or an iron to remove the wrinkles because that will also affect your length after you have your curtains all sorted out you will want to start taking measurements to see where you want the curtains to fall on the floor I would have loved to have had pins for this but I only have sewing needles so I made it work with what I had but I do recommend having pins to really keep it in place all across before you use your iron to create your crease you will want to flip the curtain while it's hanging to work from the back [Music] [Music] I hope you learned wait before we finish this video as I was editing I found an alternative way and maybe a better way to attach the tape to the curtain so that's what I want to show you right now so instead of putting the tape up here like I did it would actually be better to put the tape at the end of the curtain so that way when you put the tape you can fold it over to wherever you want and if you miss measure and need to take it off then that tape is still down here okay we can go back to finishing this video now something from this video and if you did please give please give it a thumbs up and subscribe hit that bell to make sure you get notified every time I post and with that I will catch you next time [Music]
