Installing SDRUno for use with a RTL-SDR

on this episode of broken signal I'll show you how to install STR uno to work with the RTL SDR dongle in a web browser let's search for SDR play and then click the Downloads link then we want to click on SDR you know version 1.3 3 then click here to download SDR No it's going to ask us the save file we'll save it to our downloads folder let's go back to downloads scroll down and we want it down the exit IO or extension IO plugins and we saved that as well once the download is done we want to open up the SDR uno installer first we'll click run we'll accept the license agreement and click Next click Next again we'll have it install to the programs file so click Next and then click Next again we'll have it create a desktop shortcut so click Next and then click install we'll click Next and then click finish now we want to install the ext IO installer accept the license agreement click Next click Next again we'll install it in the same folder as SDR uno click Next it's okay it's gonna ask this because we installed the other one first telling us that the folder already exists will click yes click Next and then click install accept the license agreement click Next click Next again click Next again it's telling us that the folder already exists click yes click Next click install now it's going to install some required software we'll let it continue once it's done installing the required software it'll ask us to connect RRSP we're not using that so we'll just click Next and then click finish and then again click Next in Finnish again now we have one more step to make the rtl-sdr dongle work with SDR uno we need to download to dll's and put them in the My Documents folder I'll provide a link to the DLL files in the description below copy it and paste it in your browser find the exit iosef file click it to save the file save it to a folder on your computer now go to the folder where you save the zip file right click and extract all copied the to dll files and you'll want to paste them in the Documents folder now what I like to do is delete the SDR uno shortcut on the desktop because you use the SDR you know EXT io icon to launch the program so double click it you'll notice found raffio Michael R 8:20 T tuner that lets you know that it has found your rtl-sdr dongle now once the workspace opens you notice that it has multiple windows you can move those around and resize them as you want so first let's go to the settings under main settings input and you notice it should say ext IO rtl-sdr under calibrate I like to adjust the s meter down a little bit it's a little strong to begin with moving over to the tuner window if you click settings on output you could select VB cable installed you could select that as an output or we'll just select the speakers that I want to use now click Play and then you should start seeing signals to tune you could either use your mouse wheel to scroll up or down or if you click it then you could manually enter in a frequency we could use the zoom function to zoom in and out if you come up here to settings there's a range so we could adjust the range as well as the waterfall gain to get the right color that you like there's many more settings to this but this should get you started to adjust bandwidth you could just click on it and move it with your mouse now you have ser una working with the rtl-sdr dongle for more videos like this make sure to subscribe to my channel and thank you for watching [Music]
