Installing a Roof on the New Amazon Pergola!

hey gang welcome back to post family pilgrimage on this episode this is part two of the pergola we're putting the roof on it [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and Hayden's read the book so what we've done is we've got 11 of these right here uh the the sheets they are 12T long um about two ft wide and uh we got 11 of them so what I've done is I've taken out every other joist cuz we don't need it now that we're going uh roof style and then we we've gotten or purchased these right here these guys so these right here you you just drill into that right there you place them up underneath there and then you drill them the top right there this right here is your 2-in bolt it's got a little washer there a little padded washer that protects it it kind of Cups it and seals it so that you don't get any water in there so what I did is I ran a 2in slat right there you can see those and then went to the one but left a space and then the one so that way it gave me the slope to come off this way you can see the slope so you can see the two boards there then the one and then I begin with these and it's 12T so that gives it plenty of slope as you can see there coming down does the it doesn't do justice uh because it was level to begin with and so I needed a little bit of a slope and then this just takes it on down off the edge and then as you can see these right here are just tongue and groove so they lip into the next one just like this did right here and then you've got your others all right so I finished the first one and then this is the second one and you just kind of slightly double over right there all right second row is done done you see the one little double layer right there how it just doubles up and it's coming along this is the nails or the screws 2in tough Tex and then the tough Tex is actually what makes this right here so you can take a picture of that or pause this so that you can zoom in on any of that and uh this is them so I just loaded in right there and that's the screws I'll put put a link to Lowe's where I picked them all up uh online for you okay guys here we go so right here you're going to want to come down to this tough Tex it's priced at $37.90 a foot or or preet here's what we did we went with the smoke um with the smoke that was the one that honestly was $9.98 in store when we were there and so I'm not sure why they had them such produced so so much but that's why it was a no-brainer for us that night to go ahead and pick those up so we did at $9.98 a sheet we grabbed 11 of them uh I was out there a whole lot cheaper than this right here uh with the clear uh it was just it was available but it was $37 the smoked was the ones that were lower priced and we have noticed that uh the smoke is just enough shade so that you're not you know the sun's not just beaming right through there it's blocking out some of that so we absolutely love it uh again we that's the 2.17 Ft by 12 ft uh and so that's what we went with right here okay also these are the screws that I mentioned the tough te screws uh we ended up going through three boxes of those it says 50 count pretty sure every box was a little less than 50 count and then these right here uh ran along the the supports the plastic pieces uh so you saw us using those as well actually I'm sorry it's these right here the five-pack cross link polythylene whatever solid roof panels uh these are great these little Plastics um you only want to screw them down to where your screw tip comes to about right there on the top here because otherwise uh you're going to uh you're going to push down too hard and it's going to mess up the flow of any kind of rain or anything like that no drainage or leakage from these because this washer right here covers that and it provides a little Rubber seal on there as well so that is pretty much all you're going to need right there and you're good to go that's that's everything we didn't need anything else just these sheets there you go there's a better look at it you've seen what it looks like uh these screws and this right here all right guys so this is day two we just finished it up I we just finished it up just in time it started raining so Hayden is running like crazy to get his doors on his Jeep I'll show you this kid he's getting them as fast as he can no don't don't hurt the doors though or the Jeep not that I'm being any kind of help right now good job watch the Forerunner good job all right so we cut that right there off uh as best as we could just using a xacto knife but I got to clean that up cuz that's sloppy we ran those out to the edge I did have to go back and get another box of the 50 pieces tough teex 2in Fasteners there was never 50 per box um but that's it we layered it over one time so you can see in the darker tint right there and just in time for rain it is at a slant as you can see the 2 in uh or the 2x two under there and then went with a gap so that it has that rake and then drew it out and uh let the natural slope take place and also there's a matter of uh with with sloping it is also uh not drilling heavily if that makes sense uh see those screws go in but they don't go all the way down you're not pressing hard on that so that's it so here we are we got it just in time for the r rain and we'll do a test as you can see there's a lift there but I ran it right up to the guttering so that it covers it just right yeah so we'll uh this rain will be a perfect test for us we'll go from there all right guys so that's going to wrap this
