okay in this video I'm going to replace about ten rows of siding the bottom 10 rows or so has a little bit of water damage and it's this weird fiber board siding and replacing it with Hardy board which is cement fiber siding and I'm going to use little gecko clamps I'll show how that works here's the gecko gage this is what I'm going to use to do the rest of the siding and you can adjust the height of each section and this part like slips underneath and you activate this little cam and this it pushes in this little rubber thing that holds it onto the siding here you can see some of the water damage and it's just the bottom few rows the top rows are okay for the starter course I cut little one and a half inch strips and nail them right to the base so that first row will match all the rest have a little bit of a angle to it and when I cut it I use a good dust mask and I use a diamond blade on an angle grinder and just cut it it slices through it like butter that's like a super-clean straight edge I recommend a good pair of gloves when handling the cement siding because it's really rough and it dries your skin out I like these gloves greasemonkey you get like 12 pair for like 15 bucks at Sam's Club and I like to pre-drill the holes so I don't crack the concrete siding when I nail it in since I'm doing this by myself I like marked the spicket at 3 o'clock so when I put it when I'm underneath the house tightening it up I will get it like perfectly flat and level and on the threads of the faucet I wrapped some teflon tape to give it a nice seal when I screw it in so this is probably the worst part of the job I'm up here and like two feet in the crawl space with spiderwebs and everything and I gotta attach this to the spicket since I'm just replacing the siding I needed to match up exactly so I put little pencil marks at the bottom of each row and this way when I get up to like the fourteenth row which is as high as I'm going to go it'll look the same and I won't have like an extra gap anywhere okay these things are actually kind of flimsy so you need to be like real careful and you don't need to press it all the way up because it'll like it like pulls away from the board you just kind of go a little bit and then you gently put the board in there or it'll slide into the back and this board needs to go up just a little bit so I shim it and it's right online and just make sure it's level I cut a little piece of flashing and I put it in between the joints here's where the other piece butts up behind the flashing and I had to drill a little hole and fish the telephone wires through there and I'll connect it to the box can I cut a little notch out for the window then I the joints with some DAP lx+ and I dip my finger and some water so with these gecko gage clamps cost 60 bucks on Amazon I was able to do all of the siding by myself which I wouldn't have been able to do and the last part of the siding that was bad was right about here and I decided to go all the way up to above the window since I had extra wood but thanks for watching see y'all next time
