today i will share with you how to make a high quality time lapse video using raw photos shot with the insta360 one x2 so you can make a video which looks like this to film these time lapses i use photo interval mode so to go into this mode tap the screen tap the video icon the photo icon and then scroll down to interval mode and select it then swipe left from the right of the screen to get your settings and for the first setting i'll change it to shoot jpeg and raw the second setting is your shooting mode and i'm going to change this to iso priority the third setting is your exposure and since my scene was cloudy i'm going to change my exposure to plus 0.5 if your scene is really bright and sunny then i recommend you set minus 0.5 and if it's somewhere in between really bright and sunny and cloudy then set it to zero i'm going to change the iso to 100 and since i'm shooting during the day i'll change the white balance to 5000 k and lastly i'll change the interval to 3 seconds iso priority mode is great for time lapses because you can fix the iso and only the shutter speed will change so i fixed the iso at 100 which is the lowest iso you can set and this will give us the cleanest photos possible with the least amount of noise and if there are any exposure differences in our scene so if clouds come or it becomes a little bit brighter then the shutter speed will change automatically to compensate for these exposure differences i like to capture at least 10 seconds of time-lapse and i publish my videos on youtube at 30 frames per second think about frames per second as photos per second so if i need 30 photos per second and i want 10 seconds of time lapse then 10 times 30 equals 300 photos so i need 300 photos to capture 10 seconds of time lapse for my 30 frames per second youtube video and since my camera interval is set to three seconds and the interval is how long it takes the camera to take one picture after the other 300 photos times three seconds means it will take 900 seconds to capture my 300 photos and 900 seconds into minutes if you divide 900 by 60 gives me 15. so it will take me 15 minutes to capture 300 photos to make a 10 second time lapse for my 30 frames per second youtube video i do have a time lapse cheat sheet which will help you with the maths so here it says time lapse video duration and i want 10 seconds of time lapse and i'm going to take a picture every 3 seconds so this is my interval and i publish my videos at 30 frames per second and photos required and waiting time is automatically calculated so here it says that for 10 seconds of time lapse taking a picture every three seconds and you want a video at 30 frames per second you will need 300 photos and it will take 15 minutes to capture 300 photos so i'll leave a link to this time-lapse cheat sheet in the video description and it's absolutely free to download to keep my 1x2 still for 15 minutes i use the best 360 monopod and this will reduce the chance of my 1x2 getting blown over by the wind and the best 360 monopod is made by myself so if you do consider buying the best 360 monopod it directly helps me support you with more value on this channel it is black friday so there is an offer on this at the moment so i'll leave a link to it in the video description when you take a photo with the 1x2 it is saved as fish eyes straight out of the camera so you must use insta360 studio to convert these fisheye photos into echorectangular photos an echo rectangular photo is a way to show a sphere in a flat format so think about the world map and earth the world map is an air rectangular projection of earth so if you want to upload 360 photos or videos onto social media then you must make sure it's in the echorectangular format so now that you shot your time-lapse photos let's grab the raw photos out of the 1x2 and turn the fisheye photos into a correct angular photos once you connect your one x2 to your computer then you'll see all your files like this so all your photos videos and time lapses will be saved in a single folder so the first thing you need to do is group the photos from a single time lapse into a new folder on your computer now when you take a photo interval time lapse on the one x 2 it will take a raw photo and a jpeg photo so the dng files or your raw photos and the insp files are your jpeg photos but we're only concerned with the dng photos because these files will give us the highest quality time-lapse possible the easiest way to find the time lapse you want to copy over is to look at the thumbnail so i want to copy over my time lapse of the london eye so i can see that thumbnail over here and i know that this time lapse starts at number 571 and then i'm going to scroll down until i see the last thumbnail of the london eye and that is number 731 so now that i know when my time lapse starts and ends i'm going to organize this view a little bit differently so i can just pick out the dng files and copy it over to my computer so to do this i'm going to change the view to details and i'm going to sort the files by type and this will put all the dng files together now i know my timelapse starts at number 571 so i'm going to scroll down to this number over here and select it and then i'm going to scroll down to number 731 where my london eye time lapse ends which is over here so i'm going to hold down shift and select and now all my london eye time-lapse photos are selected i'll hit ctrl c on the keyboard to copy it then i'll go to a folder on my computer and i'll make a new folder and i'll call this time lapse one always make a new folder for each time lapse and inside this folder i'm going to make a new folder and i'll call this one dash raw and inside this folder i'm going to paste the dng files over here and just wait for the files to copy over once your files have finished copying over the next step is to turn each fisheye lens photo into an echorectangular photo so to do this open up insta360 studio click import go to the folder with all your raw photos click the first photo and then on the keyboard hit ctrl a to select all the photos and click open now all your files are going to import into insta360 studio and this may take some time depending on your machine once your files have finished importing then the next step is to export all these photos as stitched dng files so to do this just select one photo and tap control a on the keyboard to select all the photos then go to the top right hand corner and click start export and this will open the batch export settings because multiple photos are selected set the target resolution as original make sure that automatic horizontal correction is off i found that it's better to adjust the horizon in a video editor instead then go to change and in your timelapse folder make a new folder called to dash stitched raw open this folder select this folder and click ok and now your photos will begin exporting as stitched dngs in your second folder once your files have finished exporting from insta360 studio then folder 2 will be filled with all your stitched raw photos the next step is to open these photos in lightroom to color grade it so to do this open up lightroom go to the library tab and click import then on the left hand side navigate to your folder too with stitched raw photos make sure they are all selected by clicking check all and then click import the next step is to color grade a single photo in your time lapse and then apply that color grade to the rest of your photos so to do this go to the develop tab click the first photo in your time lapse and on the right hand side you can apply your color grade now i found that if you click the auto button the software does a really good job at giving you a great starting point and sometimes that's all you need to get a color grade done but if you want to adjust the look and feel of your photo then feel free to play around with these settings one thing i want to do is change the color of this screen to make it look more evergreen so i'm going to scroll down to the hsl color tab under hue and select the adjust hue by dragging in the photo icon i'm going to click the grass and drag my mouse up and down to change the color of the green until i find a green that i like so i want the more evergreen look so i'll try and make it a more vibrant green like that and then let go and just like that you can change the colors in your photo so now i have a nicer looking green that's all the changes i want to make in my photo so now i need to apply this color grade to the rest of the photos in my timelapse so to do this i'm going to copy this color grade check all and click copy then with the first photo selected i'm going to hit control a on the keyboard to select all the photos down the bottom and then click sync and then synchronize and this will apply the same color grade across all these photos so if i click on this photo for example you can now see all these photos have the same color grade the next step is to batch export all your photos into jpegs so then we can turn it into a video in premiere pro so to do this make sure all your photos are selected by hitting ctrl a on the keyboard go to file export go to choose a folder navigate to the folder with your photos so in my timelapse one folder i'm going to make a third folder and call this 3 dash jpeg hit enter and open this folder select this folder and make sure the quality is set to 100 for the highest quality photos possible and then click export once your photos have finished exporting then the next step is to turn these photos into a time lapse video so to do this open up premiere pro click new project and i'll name this project time lapse one i will save this project in my timelapse one folder and select this folder and click ok the next step is to import your time-lapse photos and turn it into a time-lapse video so to do this click the project tab right click and click import then in the third jpeg folder in your time-lapse one folder click the first photo and you'll see image sequence becomes enabled and with image sequence enabled premiere pro is going to find the subsequent photos in your timelapse add all these photos together and turn it into a single video so with the first photo selected an image sequence enabled click open and you will now have a single time-lapse video i usually set all my cameras to record at 29.97 frames per second so if i want to add this shot to my timeline i also need to make sure it is 29.97 frames per second so to change the frame rate of your time lapse right click the video go to modify interpret footage click assume this frame rate and i'm going to change it to 29.97 frames per second and click ok so now my time lapse will play at 29.9 frames per second next i'm going to reframe this 360 time lapse for a 4k 16x9 youtube video so to do this i'm going to click new sequence then under digital slr 1080p i'm going to select the dslr 1080p 30 preset then click settings change the frame size to eight four zero by two one six zero and this will give you your 4k video in the sixteen by nine aspect ratio and then click ok then drag your time-lapse into the sequence and keep existing settings you can drag this inwards to zoom in and now your time-lapse video is imported into your sequence if you have a slow computer then your time lapse video might lag so i highly recommend you create a proxy file for a smoother editing experience so to do this right click your time lapse video go to proxy create proxies change the format to quicktime and the preset to vr monoscopic proxy change the destination to your time-lapse one folder and select this folder and click ok and the proxy will begin creating in the background then to toggle proxy is on you want to click this button on over here until it turns blue and if you can't see the toggle proxies button click the plus icon and you'll find the toggle proxies button over here then you just need to drag it to your button shortcuts and click ok so now with toggle proxies on if i play back this time-lapse video it will play back very smoothly next i'm going to reframe this time-lapse video so to do this go to effects type reframe over here and you'll see in the gopro effects folder you have the gopro effects reframe plugin and you need to download it from gopro's website if you don't have it already and i'll leave a link in the video description drag this over your video then go to effect controls then change the projection to 3840x2160 which is your 4k 16x9 frame and at the beginning of my time-lapse video i want to show the audience this view and i'm going to change the lens curve to 65 to get rid of the fisheye distortion i'm going to add keyframes for all these options which is the same as pivot points in the insta 360 app so now premiere pro knows that at the beginning of my video i want to show this view to my audience and then as the time lapse progresses i want to pan towards the london eye over here and i'm going to tilt up to look towards it and add a keyframe for all these other options i'll just drag a box over these keyframes and drag it to the end of my shot and you now have a time-lapse shot which looks like this finally the last step is to export your time-lapse video in the highest video quality possible so to do this make sure the sequence is selected then go to file export media change the format to h.265 change the preset to 4k ultra hd click the output name choose your time-lapse 1 folder and choose a name for your video and i'll just call it time lapse one click save then scroll down over here and under bitrate settings change the target bitrate to 60 change the quality to higher and then click export and that's it that's how you make a high quality time lapse video if you learned something new in this video then don't forget to hit the like button and there's going to be plenty more awesome tutorials coming soon so don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss those videos and i'll see you in the next one
