INSIDE Lufthansa First Class on the Boeing 747

today i'm flying first class on lufthansa's iconic boeing 747. join me on one of the world's most exclusive first class flights but what makes this so special well for one you'll start at an airport terminal dedicated entirely to first class passengers once ready to board you'll be driven directly to your plane in yes a porsche on board you'll sit so far forwards you're physically in front of the pilots then after ascending to 38 000 feet dino caviar steak and wash it all down with a 300 bottle of vintage champagne oh and did i mention you'll sleep in a five-star hotel bed and wear pjs featuring a scarf yes this isn't your average flight the price for this indulgence you ask well tickets start at a mind-blowing seven thousand dollars so let's see if it's really worth it hey guys what is up and welcome back to the channel you join me today at frankfurt international airport where i'm actually on the hunt for the first class terminal apparently i need to go over here when i have flown on their first class before this was closed so it's really exciting today because it's my first time experiencing it so anyway exit the airport um it's not very well signed posted but i guess like with a lot of these first-class products if you know you know or if you don't know you ask come on first class where are you at few moments later right the other side of the taxi rank i have found the first class terminal let's go and see what this is like [Music] mainly i'm excited because today means i get to add to my collection of ducks if you don't know what i mean keep watching [Music] thank you we need to check your 2g status uh your vaccinated plus you have your pcr or antigen document checks complete and i'm led through the dedicated security channel for first class of course there is no queue and everyone is noticeably much friendlier than usual you take your time because it's all about you here wow this is really quite something guys i'm so excited about this this has been one of those things on my sort of bucket list of what i wanted to do so let's take a seat and then we'll go and explore and relax goodness me it was a quite a hassle to find it but once found you can see why they do it it's out the way from the hustle and bust under the rest of the airport [Music] right guys i have the essentials champagne ducks and a dental kit so what am i doing um i'm having a bath yes i know it's quite frankly hilarious but why would you not have a bath in an airport in a luxury lounge it'll be done right [Music] hanging out with two ducks um yeah i have to pinch myself sometimes it's a very strange job all fresh let's head over to the restaurant currently serving breakfast the menu is solid but not a hit on air france's la premiere with my order placed and cappuccino promptly delivered to my table i had to wait around 10 minutes for my eggs benedict it was tasty but there was more ham than i could possibly want but it hit the spot there we go that's breakfast done now let's go and relax over by my seat alas on the way to my seat i got distracted so guys i've taken it upon myself probably a little bit responsible given that it is currently 9 40 in the morning to do a little bit of whiskey tasting so first of all we have this lovely number now i don't know anything about whiskey at all so you're gonna have to forgive me oh that is lovely of course me being me i've got a little bit carried away and decided that well let's try some more [Music] i love that right before i get too carried away drinking i have a flight to catch we are ready to go let's head straight over now and go get on board fingers crossed the porsche i i i think it's going to be a vw van i mean you guys really know what what's happened you've seen the intro wow [Music] that really was everything i wanted it to be being a petra head as well as an avgee it's got to be the best possible way to arrive to your aircraft [Music] right let's get down that jet bridge and step on board the boeing 747 aka the queen of the skies i'm greeted warmly by the lufthansa crew and i'm advised i can stow my luggage in my assigned locker before i settle into my seat i wish more first cabins did this it's a thoughtful touch first class is exclusively in the nose of the 747 and i've selected the most forward row seat one kilo for my flight today as i've already nodded to you actually sat in front of the pilots here and it's a surreal seat to sit in especially during takeoff and landing so guys it's a welcome on board the lufthansa 747 in first class super excited about this today as you can probably imagine um i'm just settling into my seat i've got a delicious glass of champagne that's been poured for me so first of all cheers you probably noticed i've had to mask change lufthansa have a rule which is similar to much of germany at the moment where you cannot wear a fabric mask you have to wear a medical face mask i've got a very fitting saudia one from saudi first class so i guess we'll have that one as i begin to tuck into my arrival snack of macadamia nuts the safety video is run knowing my pre-departure drinking time is drawing to a close i promptly speed up the drinking of my champagne i'm also presented with an unlimited wi-fi pass provided free to all first-class customers i make it time for pushback and with that the airplane tug shoves us onto the taxiway i spot an a340 next to us lufthansa's only other aircraft with first class offered given they've retired their a380s let's belt up then the 747 has a shoulder belt fitted which converts to a lap belt once airborne as we taxi out i spy another 747 glittering in the morning sunshine it sure is a treat to fly this aircraft today within moments we're cleared for takeoff and with that we hurtle down the runway into the frankfurt skies bound for the united states today our flight will take us some 7 000 kilometers in roughly nine hours over to chicago illinois first things first let's take a look around my seat immediately in front is an ottoman which doubles as a much appreciated additional stowage technically you could use this as a chair for couples dining although i don't think it's encouraged due to lack of a seat belt to your right is a universal power outlet a usb charger which unfortunately didn't work and a headphones output talking of which your provided noise cancelling bose headphones are stowed in this hard to open stowage space just above down from here lives your ife remote this was particularly laggy with the entertainment system so for this reason i didn't bother using it aside from the maps and camera to your left are the seat controls of which you'll see in a minute in action converting this seat into a comfy bed so we have just reached altitude and i have been served the start of a lot of food to come so of course we're going to continue with some more champagne the champagne is some punchy 2006 blanc to millionaire pronounced impeccably of course which went down a treat this was accompanied by a moose bush of prawns i think it's time to order from the pretty extensive menu my table is beautifully set and with that let's start the proceedings with a first-class staple caviar i had to ask for some bellini's though only toast is offered which i find a little odd is served alongside the usual suspects egg whites yolk and creme frash also no no mother of pearl spoon which seems a little strange to miss here i'm also served some fresh breads alongside butter olive and balsamic oil this is all delicious next up i go for an additional appetizer of beef ham filled with gorgonzola dates and some sesame chutney quite the contrast in flavor and sharpness here harmonizing spectacularly in your mouth right next up and it's on to my chestnut soup with caramelized onions and diced apples have to say this was a little odd but let's roll with it after being offered some more bread and a swig of champagne it's time for my mane the steak of course served with a tomato and pine nut crust sauteed brussels sprouts and a potato leek puree it's delicious and thankfully cooked brilliantly medium rare which is quite uncommon in the sky great work lofty my plate is cleared and i'm offered dessert i opt for the gingerbread pudding served lukewarm it wouldn't be my usual choice but tasted great reminding me of the recently departed festive season to close i went for the belgian chocolates i love how these are served on their own plinth with dinner service out of the way let's change into something a bit more comfortable we'll head over to one of the two bathrooms the rear of the first class cabin exclusively of course for f passengers it's one of the better premium bathrooms in the sky complete with a fresh rose fine porcelain basin and gulfstreamesque toilet cover of course it's also a loo with a view let's change into my provided pjs then wrapped more like a present than an in-flight amenity it's also time to kick those tims off for the second time today lufthansa provide one of the best slippers in the sky your feet literally sink into the fabric outfit change then this is really comfortable the collar is a cool touch but the best bit is the totally unnecessary scarf of course after freshening up the last piece to the first class loop puzzle is to try the la prari skin caviar at 250 dollars a bottle it certainly does the job of moisturizing but crikey that's a punchy skin care routine let's head back to the seat then it's time for a nap i take my slippers off and stow them under my seat you can see my bed has been expertly made up by the cabin crew whilst i've been in the bathroom complete with a proper duvet mattress pad and fluffy pillow it's a dreamy setup the only issue is how exposed you are yes you have a part privacy shell but you can see clearly one alpha from your sleeping position with that i'm off dreaming about porsches and mr redemptions my only complaint about the bed would be the cabin temperature itself which was certainly on the warm side this afternoon i awake feeling semi-refreshed or be a little confused about where in the world i am it's a common occurrence funnily enough it's time for the next round of food service they really are going to need to roll me off this aircraft today to start i select the arabic meze a personal favorite this is served hilariously with a german pretzel and some authentic arabic bread the meze is fresh tasty and reminiscent of my qatar and emirates experiences not quite there but not far off next up i opt for the chicken sliders kind of like a burger but clearly just bunged in the microwave or similar it's tasty but nothing really premium about it the beetroot chips are a nice addition though as we continue to hurtle through the north american sky i think it's time for a caffeine hit i go for a cappuccino which is light and authentic clearly they have a proper espresso machine on board i asked for some more of those tasty belgian chocolates which again are presented on their plinth a few minutes later the captain announces we're starting our descent into chicago so after a quick outfit change and a momentary glance upstairs into business class it's not a great product by the way the 2-2 layout is so last decade and with that we skim over the illinois skies onto our final destination of chicago my final thoughts of today's trip then are that lufthansa deliver a competitive all-round first-class product it holds its own against the middle eastern carriers and coupled with some of the best ground service in the world it's among my top five f products the limitation though is the seat is exposed and dated and lets the overall experience down hopefully the rumored triple 7xf product provides a fully enclosed suite as is to be expected in first class right guys so welcome to chicago i hope you enjoyed that flight as you can see it was pretty epic indeed
