what is going on youtube it's your boy steven and welcome back to another video i still can't like look at my camera by the way it's weird it's like i'm making eye contact with the person stop stop first of all i want to say thank you so much for 140 000 subscribers you guys are insane and i am always just mind blown by your support um we got our check mark on youtube and it is looking juicy and i have no one to thank except for you guys so really really appreciate that let's get to 150k subscribers like comment and subscribe to help out as usual and while you're at it go follow my other socials uh twitter instagram twitch join my discord everything's in the description below so today i have some very interesting and different content prepared for you guys as you could probably tell from the title some of you guys don't read titles apparently it is not another video i know i know i can hear the comments already i really like your omegle videos you're only funny when you're doing your korean accent okay listen i can do all kinds of entertaining content okay i'm entertaining as whatever i do is gonna be entertaining so shut the mouse okay thank you secondly i get paid like 10 cents per omegle video because of all the stupid music companies copywriting my stuff so i don't really have a monetary incentive to be doing that and if i want to do youtube full-time i'm going to have to make money somehow so i have to make more content like this all right okay cool so with that out of the way today i'll be showing you guys a video of me singing four years ago it's gonna be so cringe but then i'm gonna be singing the same song today with my current skill level i'm doing this because a lot of people ask me um on my comments and you know whenever i go live how long have you been singing for how did you improve you know things like that and well i've been singing for a couple years i've been you know i've always been like naturally pretty decent at singing but it was only around like two and a half years ago when i decided that my singing is actually not that good and that i needed to work on my voice and so this video that i'm about to show you is from before that when i thought i was really good [Music] so i'm gonna show you the video now and then after i sing the song again i will tell you guys a little more about how i improve my singing cool you all ready because i'm not all right so the video in question is going to be coming from my old channel which was supposed to be a secret but a lot of you guys have already seen it so there's no point in hiding it anymore because you know when i talked about my embarrassing original song that i wrote for a girl four years ago youtube algorithm decided to recommend it to you guys super cool thank you youtube but anyways the video that we're gonna be going over today is this one cover of by chance uni by j.r aquino let's get right into it [Music] so right off the bat uh we noticed a couple things um the quality yes i was recording this off of my first laptop that my dad bought me and uh i do be looking like minecraft steve but besides that the glasses personally very glad i stopped wearing those but you know maybe i should go back to them so i don't have to hear the are you asian harry potter i didn't know harry potter could sing by the way amazing joke definitely don't hear 50 times a day and if you tell me that and i don't laugh it's because i'm just i just lose my mind at how much of a humorous comedian you are and i i physically cannot laugh like that's just how funny it is so definitely keep making that joke it's just so good next thing i notice is the hair uh i don't know i don't really have an opinion on it it looks okay but it's very obvious that i used to have a lot more hair back then and i'm kind of jealous because i'm like i'm balding you know growing old it is what it is though last thing i notice is the acoustic guitar which is another thing that everyone asks me about can you please play your acoustic i say no and they're like please please why and i'm like because my electric sounds 20 times better and they're like no acoustic is so much better listen this electric is like 2 000 my acoustic is maximum a hundred dollars and i've had it for like eight years never changes strings never even cleaned it so it does not sound good even after i tell them that people will be like please please if you don't play the acoustic i will literally die so today when i sing the song again i will be using the acoustic okay i don't want to but you asked for it alright let's just let's get into the video all right here we go i i really don't want to show okay whatever for the content [Music] hi okay so right away i remember this song is actually kind of high and back then i really struggled with higher notes not even high notes like medium notes so i took the song down like a lot like two whole steps or something and uh as a result it sounds kind of dry not as juicy but you know i guess that's a matter of personal opinion anyway girl you just caught my eye i thought i should give it a try again really cute name and your number go grab some [Music] i keep doing this like eye roll thing i never even noticed this before look at this face yeah it suits you okay girl we connect like a we have bluetooth [Music] so the song gets a it's higher and higher from this point and i don't know if you can tell because the quality is really bad but like you can see me straining like you see my neck stretching like this my chin like pointing up like i don't know why i'm drawn to you and that's because like i didn't have enough air support so then i was trying to make up for it with my muscles and that's that's not good it leads to a lot of strain this is all based on a lucky chance that you would rather and then subtract [Music] this is look at this why do i keep rolling [Music] this whole part sounds so like i don't even know the word it just doesn't sound good to me it's like there's no space you know there's no space in the back of my head like sunny and cher honey embarrassed oh you and i could be like aladdin and jasmine let's make it happen like like there has to be that you know like i just didn't have the air support that's it so it sounded really strained and dry like nasally [Music] thousands and thousands of miles sorry i know that lion's out of style but you you look so beautiful on this starry night loving the way the moonlight catches your eyes and your smile i'm captivated your beauty is timeless and never outdated okay so this part of the song goes eyes and your smile i'm captivated your beauty is timeless never outdated like the notes aren't even that high because i took it down so much but i was still scared of hitting those notes which is why i went with like the regular melody instead of switching it up there you know i probably would have argued at the time that it was a stylistic choice and it's a cover you know it's my own style but really i was just scared and i don't know why i'm drawn to you could you be the other one so we'd equal two this is all based on a length a stretch that you would rather and then subtract not enough here [Music] like [Music] [Music] okay so i mean it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be and it didn't cringe that much except for the parts where i kept rolling my eyes dude i don't know what the hell i was doing back then i thought i was so good like even now i don't think i'm that good of a singer back then i was just delusional you know um so yeah that was four years ago i'm gonna do it again right now and hopefully you guys can see a difference or else you know i just wasted my time trying to learn how to sing so yeah here's my acoustic as promised never changes strings in like eight years um it's gonna sound like ass like i said but you guys keep asking for it instead of my beautiful beautiful electric over there so here we go four years later all right so we're gonna sing it higher because we're not scared of this key anymore hi girl you just caught my eye i thought i should give it a try get your name and your number go grab some lunch and eat some cucumbers why did i say that i don't know why but you're smiling and it's something i like on your face yeah it suits you girl we connect like we have bluetooth and i don't know why i'm drawn to you could you be the other one so we equal to this is all based on a lucky chance that you would rather add than subtract you and i could be like a sunny and share honey embezzle you and i could be like a latin and jasmine let's make it happen like [Music] hey have you been i know that it's been a while are you tired cause you've been on my mind running thousands and thousands of miles sorry i know that the land's out of style but you you look so beautiful on the starry night loving the way the moonlight catches your eyes and your smile i'm captivated your beauty is timeless never outdated and i don't know why i'm drawn to you could you be the other one so we equal to and this is all based on a lucky chance that you would rather add and subtract you and i could be like a sunny and share honey and bears oh you and i could be like a latin and jasmine let's make it happen like [Music] so there you have it i know it wasn't perfect but it was a one-take kind of thing and hopefully the difference was obvious enough for you to see so yeah that's about a four-year difference about two years of consistent practice and like trying really hard to get better a lot of people ask me like are you self-taught and i am almost completely self-taught i say almost because i've taken like four singing lessons in the past i wouldn't say that they contributed very heavily to my improvement at all i'd say like 99.8 of my improvement has been due to me going on youtube typing you know how to sing better watching like everyone's videos practicing what they tell me to practice and you know picking a couple songs that i really really want to sing like goal songs and then you know practicing them until then comfortable singing you know most of the notes working on the notes that i really want to work on things like that and eventually you know i started performing for people on twitch just like on the internet i never performed for people in real life by the way um but it's something i definitely want to try once you know corona is over but yeah that's how i improved i will say that if you have the means if you have the time to go look for a vocal teacher because in the time that i have spent you know teaching myself with videos and stuff i i will say i have developed a lot of bad habits and stuff that are proving to be very very difficult for me to undo at this point in time because i've been doing them for so long and a teacher a really good teacher can help you like not develop those kinds of things in the first place and just like you you could probably achieve what i achieved in two years in like two months or something so yeah if it's something that you really really really are passionate about i would suggest investing in vocal lessons i'm just here to say that it can be done by yourself if you really really practice a lot that is going to be it for this video guys i hope you enjoyed it and i hope it gave you a little bit of perspective on how much you should you know expect to improve over a certain amount of time and yeah if you liked the video make sure to like comment and subscribe i know this is different from my usual content and i want to make different content like this too so please let me know what you thought in the comments section and as always my links for my other socials are in the description and yeah until next time guys peace
