hello everyone it's seth probably better known as saffron olive and it's time for our first strix haven edition of against the odds and we have a sweet one this week we are going infinite in standard with infinite life infinite damage infinitely big creatures all thanks to the combo of grinning ingus in burgie so what are we doing with the deck what's the plan how's it work let's break it down jump into some games see this ridiculous standard infinite combo deck in action alright so here is our infinite ignis deck and we got a bunch of sweet combos going on so first off the main synergy of the deck to do what we're trying to do we need grinning ingus and also burji got a storytelling essentially since burji makes a mana whenever he casts his spell if we get both of them we can bounce grinning angus an infinite number of times so pick it up put it down pick it up put it down not costing us any mana so by itself that doesn't really do anything however if we add one more piece to the puzzle that will win us the game so we have tear of the peaks whenever a creature comes into play we get to deal damage equal to its power grinning is coming into play an infinite number of times infinite damage we can have daxos which gains us a life when a creature comes into play so infinite life we even have showdown of the skulls which is in our deck to dig for combo pieces but the second and third lore counters let us put a plus one plus one counter on a creature whenever we cast a spell we're casting ingus an infinite number of times so we just make all of our creatures infinitely big attack our opponent kill our opponent of this spot so those are our combos we also have a bunch of ways to protect our combo we really need purging to sit down on the battlefield for like a turn usually to get the angus going so else in the lives bounty selfish savior sugiri shelter all protect from targeted removal redane helps against sweepers just slowing them down by a turret selfie saver can help against some sweepers as well otherwise a bunch of removal to keep our opponents stuff in line we're setting up our combo mana base pretty straightforward also some mdfc so it's more than 20 lands actually it's like 24 i believe sideboard more removal might look for more protection apart because it's sweet ox of agonist to deal with rogues and that is infinite ignis for standard that is our against the odds deck for this week so let's jump into some games see if we can go infinite with life with damage with creatures in strict savings standard thanks for watching i hope you all enjoy shenanigans when it all comes together might be one of the only decks in standard that can actually really truly go infinite now planes go abundant snow covered forest swarm shambler sure um well landon daxos go faceless haven stone coil serpent abundant passes well mountain and go so we need to find birgie and we need to find ingus those are those are the pieces that we need to win bonus snow covered forest scavenging use and getting frisky and we'll take it down 18. well kill the ooze more taxes well shatters call smashing untapped showdown of the skulls all right gross swarm shambler sure all right that's not that's not the worst we found the angus which is step one bone it questing beast yeah that's a bit of an issue goes attacking hits us so we get to l-sid around axos angus counter on access [Music] pathway on white pass the turn okay so we have one combo piece we need virgie if we find burgie we go infinite in many different ways and we win the game infinite storm combos and standard opponents making more big threats sure come on burjie come on bergie come on burjie burgee off the top for the wind puna passes more daxos well in that case we will show down on the skulls counter on angus play a land on white pass the turd still no burgee we found more showdowns which is not bad but we still need the burgie that's still the missing piece of the puzzle opponent great henge scavenging news draws a card uh let's stomp the ooze real quick bone it land stone coil x1 draws a card attacking no we will kill questing beast we draw planes well showdown of the skulls counter on l-sit wow that's a lot of cards without seeing a burgee um pathway on white daxos counter on l-sit selfless save here counter on elsa pass the turn virgie for the love of god for the love of god we need a burgee we've drawn so deep in our deck oh i mean that is one of the downsides of the combo honestly i guess is is uh my opponent going to gem razor blow up a show down to the skulls as there's only one burji and we do really need it to do what we want to do scavenging use donor plays a land one card in hand goes to combat attacks attacks now let's block and block save thousand gain a life stay a fourteen percy purgey yes there's burji there's burji there it is we found it so we play burgee got a storytelling counter on daxos and now we're infinite now we're infinite gain a life pick up angus replay angus counter on daxos infinite life infinitely big creatures that should do it that should do it we even have protection so everyone can't stop this angus recast it uh grow it so daxo's gains life when a creature comes into play burji gives us some mana to bounce ingus an infinite number of times that's game i don't know how opponent can beat this i don't think it's possible opponent's going to eat our graveyard sure i mean that's one of the combos we're trying to set up sure all right pawn is just going to do all their stuff so we can combo off well angus cast it counter now sid mana life angus cast it counter and elsid life angus i wonder how long our opponent sits through this angus counter on daxos life pick it up put her down count our daxos i think we just need to make all of our creatures big enough that they are one-shot threats and then we can stop [Music] tear the pigs conrad l said gain life attack you all right well [Laughter] that was not bad now i mean now we can go infinite damage next turn if we have to we have the tear of the peaks down we didn't have the mana to play it and do do the the combo this turn but i mean we went from almost dead to i mean i guess not technically infinite life because because we didn't want to click that long but close enough opponent land and still go to serbia sure draws a card i mean what is our opponent looking for like a fight spell maybe oh post scoops it up and that is how you combo off its standard that's how you go infinite in a in about a million different ways all right so rip aparts in fire prophecies in that might be it could bring in glass caskets what are we trimming is a big question we probably go down or dane although opponent does have snow lands but they don't have spells that we're worried about so go down ordain go to one lcd go down is fire prophecy good enough it kills some of our opponent stuff maybe we just try like this milo plug all right let's try it like that let's just let's just go infinite again [Laughter] oh that was good that was good that is the combo all right bonus on the play okay we'll keep this i mean we technically have two lands we have a removal spell and showdown of the skulls oh there's burgey as long as we hit our lands i mean showdown on the skull does fix a lot of life's problems opponent stonecoil syrup oh land on red uh yeah let's just do this now in case they're thinking about gem raising ship the turn donut forest and thrashy mcgee i guess we got to put this on white and then bone crusher all right come on showdown of the skulls mana donut land and combat attacks well i mean we will trade questing beast post combat tap land well play the tap land play daxos pass the turn great henge coming down opponent fights the daxos but out of cards okay okay we got a shot we got a shot bona hits us down to 15. showdown of the skulls ooh all tap lands well developed awakening yeah oh we're close we're super close vote it lad faceless haven we need to untap it oh if we don't get to combo because of this snarl i'm going to be so disappointed opponent hits us down to seven gains life hmm we do have to not die we can't combo this turn wing combo next turn so so we have to play angus play angus play selfless savior counter on the angus snarl go all right no whammies no emmys opponent gains life love struck beast and oh so we can go infinite this coming turn but i don't know if we can win which is a little awkward opponent love struck beast draws a card faceless haven pony goes to combat attacks and we will block sack save the angus oh they're saxos yes yes yes that is the draw we needed so now we get to play burgie play daxos counter on birdie infinite life all right that should uh that should be enough [Music] so all right let's let's call it for now we'll call it for now i mean we're up to 27. in theory we can just combo again next turn if our opponent doesn't have removal of some kind then we just win with tear the peaks with the combo next turn so i think we're good probably very very slightly punted by tapping our white man i could have played a selfless savior to have another layer of protection but about it i think we got him that went pretty well oh we were almost dead almost and the combo came through about it a bunch of mana because a new mammoth draws a guard gem razor gonna kill our daxos sure goes attacking no blocks oh do we actually get to tear the peaks combo too we do well tear the beaks and one more time this time you die kill you pick it up put it down an opponent sees death coming and that's how you go infinite in standard life damage we had it all creatures being infinitely big put it all together and that is what incas can do oh that was that was real good real good sweetly slate all right against odds time i are going infinite in standard english comboing and we'll keep this i mean we don't really have combo pieces yet but showdown the skulls should theoretically hopefully find them for us i mean i guess daxos that is that's our infinite life piece but we still need burgee we still need ingus igneous it should be ingus i-n-g-s i don't know why the g's in front i'm gonna get y'all that for pronouncing that wrong so many times i think i'm just gonna stick with ingus because it makes so much more sense to me all right tapland go oh selfless savior um do we need to kill that i guess i mean i guess we kill it now where we kill it later so let's kill it now opponent mountain luminer conspirant this looks like boros aggro i don't showdown i think we're just dead though hit a bunch of nothing all right onto game two yeah that was a pretty good boro segro start pretty decent well fire prophecy glass caskets in rip aparts in we will go down to l-sids we will go down redanes we will go down [Music] huh how do we fit all this i guess one soul's here probably like a couple of tear of the peaks like what else can we cut maybe like one velocity awakening two tear of the peaks let's try it like that so bring in a bunch more removal so the good news is the good news is i don't think our opponent can really interact with the combo all right well this hand has the full combo we just need to pay off like we have the ability to go infinite we just need going infinite to do something that's what we're missing opponent land times i feel it's got to be intentional right it's got to be like okay we want you to start doing this so we're going to make the or to stop doing this so we're going to make this even clunkier and harder for you to do i kind of feel like that's what's happening well we definitely want anything that can kill winoto which is not much all right well running back we got him that time at least come on one soul seer in hand please i mean i think we keep this we can't answer winoda but we can't answer we can answer things that could support winona i didn't realize our opponent was a minota deck they just look like a normal boros aggro deck in game one well there's women are conspiring sure sure now we uh are up to two grinning anguses mountain elite spellbinder [Music] interesting we got two of them um i'll play this on white play selfless save here let's get rid of the spellbinder i mean our ignis is still going to be taxed but don't it dab and flame scrolls celebrant and a zelda savior now let's play dexter's celebrant is a bit of an issue just because that actually does hate on our combo and self a savior is protecting it that is awkward actually i don't know maybe is in the submana ability it actually might be every it seems like everything that makes mana is a mana ability so is this mana ability hopefully if it's a mana ability then this is fine if it's not a mana ability then uh we're in trouble all right so questionable lesson we'll zag this alpha savior they're up to 20 about it passes well play suggeri shelter play l-sit of life's bounty gain a life past the turn we could use a showdown of the skulls that would be the best opponent land winoda well we will kill a professor of symbology all right so opponent gets a winona to trigger we will loot away the ignis into a snarl well here's the trigger how good is it about it must have a bunch of options because they are thinking this over elite spellbinder i don't even get to block oh kill the professor symbology play the snarl oh this doesn't feel great though so our opponent doesn't have any winnoted triggers which is good but they still have a pretty impressive board and we do not oh what a top deck what a top deck oh dear all right opponent yeah it's a real real bad real real bad well it goes over to exos okay well pro white the opponent pumps goose attacking oh hey block i play an expensive igneous gain of life but i think we're dead opponent land oh yeah they drew one too many removal spells that skyclave apparition was that was exactly what our opponent needed to draw there and now they also get a winona spin because of that which is even worse opponent gonna go attacking yeah it's illuminark aspirant so yeah well black flames girl celebrate four five six seven eight nine ten sure opponent pumps we go to two [Music] about it might as well cast your reduced memory and we draw self a savior not good enough oh that was brutal all right against the odds time we are well trying to combo off the sand is actually about as fast as we can theoretically combo if nothing goes wrong i mean will things go wrong probably i guess the other bad news is infinite life doesn't technically win because our opponent's a silly yari on deck so they have more cards than us opponent land oh showdown is nice i think we just play ingus i think what we're going to try to do is showdown first because showdown and we have two anguses so sure they have a removal spell we gained some life i think we want to showdown first because that's an actual payoff that can win us the game with the combo poner tablin and it might find his protection too opponent finds a valky well it's a bit obnoxious thanks birdie let me draw another one which is good uh showdown of the skulls all right uh yeah we go attacking bone crusher is not bad that can kill the belky so we still need two more turns to combo about it i guess if they turn velky into burji we can't kill it with bonecrusher which would be awkward forest and goes attacking hits us passes hmm i'll pathway on [Music] red so they're going to turn that into burgie well that's bone crusher or stomp the valky so i assume they turn into burgie and then bone crusher grow daxos go attacking they don't know about the other burji though so we're just a land away now from winning anyway about it ramps adds a mana with rbergie cultivates adds a mana apparently birdie's pretty good in our opponents tag too get some lands all right we just need to draw a land and we win that's it until planned bone crusher hmm that's not an untapped land now is it well i guess we play terror of the peaks counter on bonecrusher gain a life hitch yeah bone it blocks all right down to eight and we'll see what our opponent can do we get back the burgie about it land omen of the sea oh that's that's not what we were afraid of two to the bottom looking a little desperate oh boy cycle straight main phase looking real desperate and scoops it up all right so we didn't get the combo but we did overcome sultan yarian for the time being well myla in plague in go down couple of bone crushers and hmm what else are we gonna cut souls here doesn't seem like the worst and look at one elsid running like that oh well no combo but a win is a win okay i mean we'll keep this not the most exciting hand but it's fine landon elsa you we got the draws some cards puts a land into play kind of like a real bad real expensive gross spiral opponent eliminates yeah this isn't looking great considering our opponent is to the emergent ultimatum part of the game one thing you may have noticed watching this is oh all right well no merchant ultimatum apparently ariane to draw a card i mean the bad news is we're nowhere near comboing we've just drawn every land kind of wish we had held under this velka awakening if i had thought we were just going to keep drawing lands i probably would have but oh geez um all right sure sure [Laughter] well sometimes you just draw all the lads in your deck that is a a thing that happens in this game called magic the gathering occasionally occasionally just draw every landon that's that well running back the turd opponent they can't wrap us because we got redane i mean we were able to assemble the combo because our bone had so much removal but the beat down might be working heartless act well i think everything when things go oh my god that comes into play untapped victory about it land and dina spicy well untap land um let's just self with save your lcd so we have some protection going past the turn so i don't think there's any dina combos in standard but it can be a good value card opponent bash john of remembrance does double up your aristocrat triggers opponent all right so we still need multiple combo pieces uh let's just we should probably hold on to this in case you're another snarl and let's just dax those and yeah we're gonna play shatter skull smashing pass the turn what does this say if a source your opponent controls would deal damage to you prevent one of it each opponent loses life each opponent loses all right so it doesn't actually stop it okay sure sure well come on show down with the skulls to find combo pieces like if we find our combo pieces we will win this game pono's gonna make a pest i'll play redane gain alive play this on white we're going to hold on to the l-sit i think since since we can cast it post-terror of the peaks we're playing like super fairly at the moment the problem is there's that mass sacrifice card draw spell that's what i'm mostly worried about our opponent finding would like to start shooting down our opponent's creatures at some point damogath titan sure i mean that is big who showdown all right show it out of the skulls that is good um play this on white selfless safe here pass the turret so we found the burgie we need the ingus we need the ignis to win it opponent i guess we could have attacked with this couldn't we hmm no sneaky reach this thing seems like it should have reached it's so big it's like a true okay opponent going to get some more pests gets by summonings goes to combat attacks and sacks and drains yep sweet little grindy synergy down to 19. um yeah i think we're gonna use a self-a savior here 11 is a lot of damage gain alive zach save the lcd opponent passes i'm sort of tempted to play the backside of burgie i think we're going to put a counter on redane [Music] snarl l said put a counter on her name well this isn't the plan but hopefully this side of burgie will find us we'll find us the combo get in with ordain pass the turn village rights draw some cards does some training unless it's been kind of an interesting game cool to see someone trying something new found it draws two cards on taps plays a swamp another blood mage draws a cart whoa strider one two three four five six seven so not enough to kill us we are in a fairly fragile spot though opponent attacks sags the goat double drains i don't block with lz gain a life untap come on big draws planes well we will discard a mountain we would like to find our combo pieces acid and bone crusher now let's stomp the woe strider counter on l said opponents get a sack um play lcd counter on lz discard the land play a lad play daxo's gonna die counter on l-sid go to combat attack attack fun and blocks we gates of life we lose some life we pass the turd about it adapts we do need to keep our life total high because our opponent does have this aristocrat set up going where sacrificing their entire board could get us hunt for specimens gonna make more tokens about it goes to combat attacks sax drains what a weird game this has ended up being we just have not find it been able to find our combo pieces yup get drained get drained we will block gain a life untap discard axos draw some guards oh two lads well play terror the pigs gain a life play a mountain go to combat you know what we're gonna stay on defense one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve hmm we might be dead here all right pass the turn wow how can we not find our combo pieces oh another village writes yeah there is a chance that we're just straight up dead here we have just kind of fizzled to the max opponent on taps we've drawn almost half our deck and we found zero ingots we've found one burgee one showdown of the skull so we have just not done a good job at finding our best cards opponent will strider makes a goat all right yeah that does it sure well i feel like we should beat this deck close to a thousand percent of the time unfortunately we ran super awkwardly uh bring in a couple more removal spells go down ordain doesn't do anything um go up a fire prophecy for an acid and a fire prophecy for a bone crusher run it like that well sometimes you draw your entire deck and you just do not find your good cards crazy yeah the good news is our opponent's deck is super slow and our opponent stack does not appear to have much interaction so i feel like we should be really really really good in this matchup it didn't work out that game because we just drew very very very awkwardly but i feel like this is a matchup that we should win super easily all right we need to play first well okay this hand we got the ingusses and we got the burgees we don't have anything to go with it though no protection no no payoff more land so i'll play a land past the turn about it blaze of forest passes we draw even more lands well play angus past the turd opponent does have a removable spell on their deck untaps plays a tap land to the bottom passes now play planes showdown of the skulls draw a few guards pass the turn oh all they have sebastian okay we are okay with that so we get to play the mountain burgie play lcd put a counter on burgee stomp the token put a counter on burgie and pass the turn all right so arbor needs something really good because if they do not have something really good we just win next turn whoa strider is not good enough our opponent could double jump block to stay alive but they they are done alright so we will play angus counter on birdie think about put him down this is more like it connor and l said pick him up put him down counter on l said pick him up put him down [Music] oh all right so our creatures are both 22 22's our opponent has to double chump we have a self a savior we have a horn so that's enough we could keep doing that forever but 22 22 is big enough that our opponent has to block with both creatures so he can block in sack but they got a black with a woe strider and that our opponent has to somehow deal with our board through the selfless savior and even if they do deal with our board we have horn down now so we could draw through our deck and find i don't know an actual finisher so i mean i think this game is just over i'm surprised our opponent stuck it out but they did all right so comboed off phone it drains us goes to 23 we will pass the turn a boater to taps and whoa strider part two oh my god opponent i already have to do this again just not gonna give up opponent passes we untap okay that should actually just do it so now we get to stomp the waste rider oh okay so opponent they did not want to they did not want to give up but uh but we got there in the end yeah run it back i mean like i said i feel like this should be a good matchup for us oh opponent on the play for game number three can they avoid the combo uh well this hand does not have enough land so we will mulligan that sounds fine uh yeah i guess we go tear the peaks to the bottom so sand is a bunch of removal which is not the worst it does not have combo pieces or showdown of the skulls unfortunately no planes and self a savior yeah oh boo didn't swamp and gonna go hunting uh i'll play land stop the best hit you for what hunter specimens into uh past summonings pretty good dina oh but no land well fire prophecy get rid of dina self a savior to the bottom chatters go smashing hit you for one all right opponent finds a land it is tap but they do find one to the top shane webb arachner interesting um now play the land and pass the turn i think we want to save bonecrusher for after this tear of the peaks because we don't really have much else going on at the moment name i got titan opponent passes now play the land play tear the peaks pass the turn i guess titan is kind of annoying it is real big big enough that it's going to be really difficult to kill heartless act well self was safe here chain with my rack near opponent attacks does not more combo pieces i assume our opponent's playing burn or mono red or not maybe it's a abash adventures all right about adventures it is well we will play el cid mountain and pass the turn well now i kind of like where we're at we have protection for burgie our opponent is playing an adventure deck which sure that's fine and we converging to showdown tablet innkeeper yeah opponent i mean burgeoning to showdown if we hang is we can win the following turn or at least go infinite bonecrush a giant um huh this is kind of interesting you know what if our opponent wants to draw a card that's fine we're going to play bergy play birdie we could have killed the innkeeper but our bones what gonna play a five five and draw a card i think we're okay with that this turn to get our engine going because really the way we win is just by comboing off oh blue mana and a love strike beats to draw a card about it by asses oh hmm i don't play the land on way showdown on the skulls and yeah standard it was straight up actually lethal there too all right we are on the draw and yeah i think we're going to keep this it's fine phone's got an innkeeper uh well seduri shelter go about it it's in for one well al said everyone's favorite tap land snarl opponent cracks a fable passage i mean we got birdies for literal days more than we will probably ever need opponent goes attacking i think we're actually fine with this trade here we have so many birdies if our opponent kills them we're kind of okay with that uh land and burgie pass the turn so if we draw land we can go infinite mana next turn untap land or infinite infinite life daxos ingus infinite bonus island for blue source passes i don't play the land play daxos go to combat attack you all right there's a brazen borrower's opponent not dead yet but we get to replay burgee oh my god so many clicks all right replay burji getting alive past the turn just tap out opponent play your abosh and enjoy your demise the angus is coming for ya about it lad passes well uh we will go to combat attack attack opponent takes it i don't play angus do you have another brazen borrower about it all right has a mystical dispute to stay alive well we will pass the turn opponent i mean we are beating him down for five a turn so they can't do this for literal ever we gotta be getting through their interaction at some point all right opponent finds a bone crusher well now we would like to draw land plays a land blaze a bone crusher not playing angus kill the bone crusher hitchhiker down to 12 past the turn opponent refuses to die if they do this all the way into a genesis ultimatum i'm going to be very disappointed it looks like they have red okay opponent abbash we draw nothing well we get to pick up the angus play a terror of the peaks and pass the turn come on opponent just die die already please about it oh if we had one more land we could have just done it there okay opponent finally runs out of interaction succumbs to the combo of stumbles to the combo so what would have happened there is if our opponents had an interaction we just angus infinite bounds infinite tear of the peaks infinite damage michael abash just to send a message that we didn't appreciate the mystical dispute but i mean that's uh that's combo please wait so what do we learn this week about infinite ignis in standard and overall video wise we went three or two but i actually played a bunch of games testing building brewing to the deck i think overall it's slightly under 50 match win percentage so i mean competitive enough to get a lot of wins but not top tier or anything the good news is we combed off a lot and the combo was usually game-winning one of the weird things about playing this deck in digital is a lot of opponents don't scoop to infinite life like even though they really technically can't beat it because you can't truly gain infinite life on arena some opponents are just like sure like spend 15 minutes for clicking i'm gonna try to build a big board and kill you so that's one of the weird things i don't know how i feel about it honestly like in paper if you were playing this deck you would just be like okay here's my loop i'm at a billion life now and your opponent would be like i can't beat a million lives so i scoop but on arena you do have to go through it a lot of times and it was weird that arena seems to like slow down the combo after you go through the loop like 25 times it makes you start clicking okay a bunch of times so i feel like arena doesn't actually like you playing this combo either however i mean the combo is really sweet it's very rare that we have true infinite combo decks in standard and this one while it is technically a three-piece combo really it's a two-piece combo and then we had a bunch of payoffs they give us a lot of redundancy like the combo is burgie with grinning angus that's what goes infinite and then we just need any one of daxos for infinite life tear the peaks for infinite damage show now this calls for infinitely big creatures where we should be able to win the game from our combo so the combo came together pretty consistently uh it's really fun it's really unique i think it's competitive-ish although huh i don't know if i'd recommend people playing arena just because of the time it takes to actually go through the combo loop and it can be kind of frustrating to like go infinite and then your infinite life is actually like 40 life or something because it just takes so many clicks to go through the loop and you can't just demonstrate it but the neck is sweet and it's amazing to have infinite combo in standard and we pulled off the infinite combo a lot with the deck so that's infinite aegis that is our first strix haven against the
