In The Top Fuel Final Round At NHRA Topeka !!!

here we go [Music] [Music] sunday race day we race doug kaluta we are about to warm this thing up boys are getting everything ready to go i'm excited like i say we've won here before hadn't really looked at the weather today i don't know what it's going to be doesn't matter it's not going to be cool and like super go fast but uh we're all ready to go get her warmed up on the ground roll up here stomp on that loud pedal against oh doug coletta it'll be a good day y'all so all right general we got it done but we got it done jeff good job buddy good job bud it is good job back there buddy good pasta 373 i think 323 mile an hour doug coletta he got me a little off the start but you know what when you got to that parts plus power mike clover and everybody working on this car that's how you stomp on that loud pedal that that thing was rolling y'all good smooth run motor seems good what a lap yeah that's what i told the general coming back i said i said to the general i'm like where does mike come up with this from this struggle struggled and it was small so much smoother than your run yesterday i changed a bunch of this morning but i mean like for me it didn't have a big through the middle it was just nice all the way through i love racing dougie though cause he's so good you know what i mean it's just like same with you you know you gotta you know you can't jack around when you're racing them there's guys you don't like grace in us first round no like say they don't know what they gonna see they played it safe yeah yeah you know they plan they play no they planned on up it was so smooth like it didn't have that big run through it well that was my goal this morning was to smooth up the clutch application and address you know what's likely to be a a weak fuel system didn't have you know a cloud of smoke out of it like it was hurt or anything it didn't i didn't feel nothing too worthy of telling you on the radio you know what i mean it was time to run yesterday it kind of flattens out down there about 3.5 ish engine rpm to us trying to address that by putting some more fuel in it you can't tell if this is electrical noise or it's really doing now they're all on one bank number one doesn't do it that's the side that's got the crispy cable though he didn't change [Music] nice what did they run all right car is serviced and coming down we are ready to roll up for round number two we're racing mike salinas and allen johnson is his tuner one of the winningest tuners of ever but we are ready ready ready we were low e.t of the round we were the quickest car that went up there first round we're gonna go up there and try to do that again turn another wind light on [Music] so [Music] wow we are in topeka home of the one-armed push-ups i don't know if i can do them anymore but we hope to find out today wow it's hitting looking bumper down there that's what i felt then wasn't my yeah that's what i felt it's hitting something look at it it's like it's ski jump you can't do that on its own that's what i felt there i drove it way too far i wonder why i did it that time and the other times you know i said something while ago about it just was kind of flattening out right there well it's done that's the worst it's been on any run here i wasn't over one way or the other was it no i didn't think no i didn't the front wheel doesn't come off the ground but see how how bad the front wheel is down there you know it's from half track on yeah oh it is chatham yeah it's done that never has done that every run but look how tight they are you know the engine has to be in in decent shape and it didn't put that hole out until it spawned i'll tell ya that's well you know so i'm gonna take some fuel out of number five just out of that cylinder air pressure yeah it's got another type ring in it so amanda she's like you know this is this is amazing this is y'all's fifth semi-finals i'm like no i'll make that six because we had a substitute that went to the semi studio yeah make that six oh i'm just hurting say change motors [Music] i don't know what's going on out there y'all but i just heard i guess it was probably justin no angry hornet said we gotta change motors so mike ran out here to see what it was i don't know if it pulled a main stud i don't know i'm gonna get changed and go to work all right folks uh hold the main stud the motor actually was clean but it pulled a main stud out they're getting with it here anchoring hornet's got old number 77 going in lane test chris chris they're getting with it we have about i think 35 minutes to get ready but i have no doubt they will get this thing done and we'll go up there and race sean langdon for a chance to go to the final round here at topeka let's do it [Music] [Music] final round we've uh man we've we've raced the whole entire camp we beat them we're going to the final we're racing britney force it's been a good day and it's fixing to be a better day i'm so proud of everybody on this team for the bottom last minute engine change [Music] yeah awesome awesome job by everybody on this team bam it was out right away wasn't it when it was that as soon as you hit the gas blower we've never run so yeah well no we've run it it's it's just like wow zowie should be okay shouldn't be hurt shouldn't be hurt all right we're warmed up and ready for the final round gotta get her on the ground it's 3 40. dragsters are at 405. dump some fuel in it they're doing a few little last-minute finish-ups it's almost go time y'all final round bound let's do this [Music] so all right guys we got our normal crew in here we've had a heck of a day so there's a thing called the don for dome rule that mike taught me a million years ago that uh after getting beat shut off i saw a wheel and i shut off but now i'm kind of questioning myself a little bit strike racing if i made a mistake i made a mistake but it's still an awesome day for this entire group great points day hey if i made a mistake made a mistake can't won't really know till we see the time slip but still proud of everything we did today uh it was huge another final round is a really good day always well dang it y'all i couldn't be more proud of us good job clay i'm so proud of y'all such a good weekend it was a great weekend we needed that it was good that uh will make a huge difference making sure we're staying in the top ten yeah that's for sure so proud of everybody i am questioning myself though if i shut off and we were had a chance i'm questioning myself but uh did you shut it off i shut it off yeah haven't seen the incrementals i mean neither so i'm like yeah because the booth's up there yeah i'm really questioning myself hey you know what if i did i did we win together we lose together absolutely well that gummit y'all missed the tree in the final a little bit and uh we got out red i shut it off early you he you hunting mike i thought you were looking at numbers all the numbers are right here so anyway we got beat i'm uh frustrated at myself but it's drag racing calling mike here because he had an airplane flight to catch hey buddy well dang it dude we almost got it done yeah we almost got done look you know [Music] to do when we got to do it so main thing is you know we pulled stuff we're saying oversized stood or not but you know relative to last week we didn't tear nothing up [Music] yeah i just missed it i knew i did soon as soon as it went yeah i i thought i'd made it clear to everybody that needed to hurry up because i had to go at 4 30. i had a hard stop and had to disappear but oh man yeah i missed it they uh well you probably don't looked at the slip i'm assuming yeah i saw the time slip yeah yep yep i was really more questioning myself about when i shut it off but i could see a wheel and i knew i missed it so i shut it off they had been running such big speed all weekend who's gonna win no matter what because of the advantage on starting line yeah yeah yeah yep yep yep we weren't gonna we weren't gonna beat it without a whole shot yeah they were 100th better at half track but anyway so i'm sitting here in your chair and uh it wore 140 just so you know caleb brought the sheet in here war 140 uh they said the motor looked a little hot but it's okay but it they said it just looked a little hot well i i couldn't trust the mag timing being the you know only contributing factor to dropping with more tune-ups so it should have looked i was trying to win the race exactly exactly but anyway obviously i'm a little disappointed in myself but it but i'm not like completely mad at myself you know what you know how it is when we can have less trouble and trauma and we can focus more on racing it'll be easier to do a good job oh yeah better job right right all right folks quick wrap-up on topeka what a great day super pumped for everybody uh obviously mike had to hop on the airplane and head to the house and we lost connection so that was kind of how that phone call ended there he was uh scrambling to get to the airport what a great day so proud for everybody on our team and uh final round like mike said final
